Chapter One

A nebula is where stars are formed. Given life, light, and the sparkle they give to the sky. The start of there beautiful journey into the Galaxy. Much like a mother of the stars. The exact reason why my name is Nebula.

I love the stars. I star gaze every night and have read almost all the astronomy books in my local library. I dream of saving up enough money to go to college and study astronomy. My dream. But even as a little filly,I knew most of my facts about stars from the books I read. Never wanting a formal education.

Times have changed.

I now live in the small town of Lunaton,a city deticated to Luna. It is not in Equestria, but in an island a few miles away from it. The island is nice and normally cold. Lunaton isn't known for its colleges or education, but rather the lack of it. I plan to move to Equeatria and learn astronomy formally, but until then,I must simply read astronomy books between my work shifts.

My job is currently at a tea shop. In Lunaton,we love our tea. Celestia loves tea, because before she was ruler of Equestria she lived in Lunaton. We call that the Equestrian Revolution, but that's not important.

The tea shop is normally busy,so I have a tiring day. Sadly, that means early bed time, never real thorough star gazing can happen. I can look at pictures in books though, and pretend to be in a grassy field looking at the majestic sky as it twinkles with stars. One can only dream so far though.

The odd thing about me is that, even as a child,I dreamed of flying high in the sky to live in the stars. I would know more about them than all the astronomers in the world then. It was scientifically impossible and a forgotten dream.

“Earth to Nebula!”My manager yelled at me one day.

“What?”I exclaimed.

I had fallen asleep on the job. Again. A latte was splattered on the ground and all over my soft white hooves. I could tell everyone was staring at me.

“You fell asleep again.”He said as he helped me up.

I gulped in fear. Would he fire me?

“I hope one day you can be that fancy astronomer. Working here is just torture for you.”He said as he walked off and back into his office.

My manager is known as Pumpkin Spice. His destiny is coffee and tea. He was born into a family that was well known in the coffee industry, and when he is older he will inherit his father’s wealthy business, known as Tea for Two.

Cheesy name. I know. Yet his life is in a silver spoon, unlike mine.

I got back up and tried to clean up the spilled latte on the floor. All the customers were looking at me. For two reasons. A.I fell asleep. B.My hair.

Much like Luna,my hair is purple with stars in it. No one knows why it is like that, but my mom believes it is a mistake of genetics or something. Right at the moment,it was in a tight bun,the only way ponies wouldn't  laugh at me.

Other than that I am quite your average pony.

“You,lady? What about my latte?”An angry customer complained.

“Oh...ummm.right on that, sir.”I was able to stutter as I picked up the cup and attempted to make the stallion a new latte.

That was typical. I have this nasty habit of falling asleep at work. I stay up all night looking through my telescope or reading, that I come to work with black eyes and a deep lack of sleep. My manager is starting to get on to me for that. I wouldn't blame him,I mean what coffee shop has a sleeping grenade that will sleep any second?

I was able to prepare the stallion’s latte and have given to him.

“Finally!”He groaned.

I rolled my eyes. A lot of ponies acted like it was the end of the world to loose around five minutes of there “valuable” time and life. It was purely annoying.

“Nebula, why not you head home early.”Pumpkin Spice offered.

“Okay.”I quietly responded as I took my apron off.

I was able to make it through the shop without an angry pony yelling at me for doing something wrong.

Lunaton is normally rainy or very cold. Today it was rather chilly, and it was also the night of the full moon. My favorite nights are the ones that have full moons. The sky is filled with light being emitted from the moon. It also it ten times prettier.

As I walked through Lunaton, I noticed a little filly playing with a space ship. He was yelling “vroom vroom!” He wasn't looking where he was going and actually kind of bumped into me. He looked at me as if I was a grand tower.

His mother yelled,”Timmy!”

I then said,”Don't worry kid. You'll make it to the moon.”

He nodded and ran off with his mother, the mom still looked angry, but I wouldn't blame her at all. She lived in Lunaton, home of good manners and ponies with fancy accents. Everything was supposed to be perfect.

I was able to then reach my house,it was a typical house in the city. Small and slenderness painted blue,it stood there with other skinny and tall houses lined up neatly next to it. They were closely packed together like sardines, which was suppose to add to the charm.

I opened the door and went in my house. My house isn't attractive or bad at the same time. It is decorated with thousands of bookshelves and pictures of star maps. The best thing about my house is that it is basically a library made without library cards, but all to myself.

I went in the kitchen and heated up a burrito. It was pretty late in the day, most people would be having dinner at this time. But for me it meant, moons out, telescopes out. After dinner I planned to rush up the stairs and get my telescope out, then look out my window and hopefully see the full moon that night.

As my burrito heated up in the microwave,I got a book of one of my many bookshelves. It was titled,”Starswirl’s Guide to Astronomy.” It was filled with interesting theories and facts, from the desk of Starswirl's the bearded. I have to say,the language is a bit hard to understand, since it is written in old English, but after a while it is easy to understand.

As I read,I thought I heard moaning. I put it aside as a bird, maybe crying in pain. I was sort of worrying at that point. If a bird was out there, then should I help it? But what if it was a badger,it could hurt me. Also it was dark,it could be an aggressive raccoon! It could basically be anything.

I then decide to look outside. I went in my cramped backyard and looked around. It was small. The only thing it a had in it was a depressed looking tomato garden. I also had an old tool shed. The sound seemed to be coming from the old shed.

I walked up to the shed and opened the creaky door. Inside the creepy are,I saw a pony! His leg was bleeding, not crazily but definitely not fixable by a band aid. He was meaning in pain. He was too busy groaning in pain to notice a skinny pony who had curiously opened the door.

“Are you okay?”I asked him.

“What does it look like!? It hurts like crap!”He was able to grumble sassily at me.

“Your horn….it looks infected….”I stared.

“Shut your oat hole and get me help!”He demanded like a king.

I was able to carry the heavy stallion into my home and lift him onto my couch. He had stopped grunting and moaning now. He observed his surroundings. He was definitely curious. He seemed a it paranoid though. I just ignored it and attempted to find him some medical help.

I was able to find some bandages and wrapped it around his leg. I wasn't an Einstein, but he looked familiar. Fairly familiar. Yet I continued to wrap the bandages around him,not saying a word. Neither did the mysterious stallion speak to me. It was awkward and magical at the same time
