Born From Displaced
Story Arc 1: The Start of an Adventure PT 2 Saying Goodbye
Previous ChapterThe basement was where Aunt Twilight kept all of her scientific research equipment. I went over to the main table near the middle of the basement lab and sat down looking at Uchu silently waiting for an answer.
“You already know about Dimtec, I believe,” she said, turning and pulling over a chalkboard.
“Yeah I destroyed them over in the Everfree.” I told her “The ruins of their base is still there.”
“They spread much, much farther,” she slid her glove back and pried something up out of the metal arm, a small projector which broadcasted an image onto the chalkboard.
The image showed a map with circles and small dots of varying size, color, and shape. She tapped on one which quickly zoomed in, revealing an image of a portal, or something similar, “This is one of their various portals, this one is supposed to close soon, leading to their HQ. Typical humans, specifically myself, cannot enter it. Given some time, I could find a way, but it’s not time we have,” she switched to another image, a blueprint of a large building. After tapping on the image of a computer, she started again, “This is their supercomputer, or whatever they call it. Incredibly hard to access,” she smirked, “for most. I hacked it awhile back and gathered the information I have now, after wiping myself from its drives.”
I growled when I heard that Dimtec still existed “Why are you telling me about there being more Dimtec’s?”
“Because,” she said, her face going serious, “while I was hacking I found a plan. They want to remove people such as yourself, ‘Displaced’, from their new homes, and send them back to their own universe. I know some want to stay, and I know a few ways of getting their tokens.”
“But I’m not Displaced. I was born here.” I told Uchu, “And how did you get past the Virus they keep on their computer to protect it.”
“I’ve been travelling the Multiverse for ages, kid,” she said, “A little virus like that, especially one from a lesser advanced society than what I’ve encountered before, is easy.”
“Okay, So do you want me to just go and destroy the other Dimtecs or what?” I asked her as a few thuds come from upstairs, that I passed off as the party starting.
“You can’t,” she said, "At least, not the ones in their personal world. You try doing that alone, you’d be dead.”
“I already did.” I deadpan back, the sounds from upstairs got a little louder af if the party was coming down the stairs.
“How far did you actually get? They have a lot of grunts,” Uchu asked.
“I made it to the CEO and cut off his head in his office. From there everything turned to ruins and I felt a strange surge of energy.” I explained.
“I might have this on record,” she muttered, pulling out a third slide, “here it is.” She tapped it a few times, and the clip of me killing the CEO showed up. “If I’m right…” I couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary, but apparently she did. “Here it is,” she said, “ripping the encoding… downloading in my own personal expansion of program…” the clip slowly began to morph, everything but myself, actually.
“What’s happening?” I asked her curiously.
“They encoded the video, likely trying to hide something,” she said, “if I’m right, what you say wasn’t exactly what you thought it was.”
“What do you mean Uchu?” I asked her turning my head to the locked door hearing a sound I hadn’t heard in five years. “Did one of them follow you?” Just then the door blew open and in walked a Dimtec Battle Drone. It stood three inches taller than me, it’s hull looked golden but I knew better that it was an alloy of gold and vibranium. “SHIT!! A Drone!” I shouted as I stood drawing my greatsword.
The Drone’s eyes flashed as it scanned the room, “One Misplaced located… Identified… Uchu Ijo you do not belong in this Dimension. Please return to your natural dimension or be apprehended,” it said, with its unnerving robotic voice.
“When will you idiots realize I’ve been travelling longer than your company has existed! I have first rights!” Uchu complained, “I made a multiverse travelling machine out of Victorian Age technology!” Uchu seemed to be starting a rant, but stopped, “Also, its ‘Displaced’, get it right, and I am not one of them. I choicefully left my own dimension because of what the queen wanted to do,” she said, “But, you wouldn’t know this considering I wiped all my information off your servers and main hub, even checked the backups.”
“Misplaced is the term for travelers where they don’t belong.” states the Drone “We have been instigating Martial Law over Equestria’s while we return the Displaced.”
I then got tired of listening to the Drone and ran forward as it was distracted with Uchu and drove my sword through it. “That’s right I can cut your stupid hull Tin Head.” I said then twisting the blade feeling its robotics repairing itself around it.
“Scylla Draakrend” Spoke the Drone as it forced me back with a pulse “Dimensional Technologies is not at war with you.”
“...I wish Alphonse were here,” Uchu muttered, “You, Metal-brain, listen, Misplaced implies they weren’t put here on purpose. As for me, I’ve met someone who is very displeased with you.”
“I am just a construct following coding” said the Drone, as I then drove my greatsword up its body and out of it’s head. It then fell to the ground and started to twitch.
“I hate Battle Drones.” I growled as I watched it’s body starting its repair sequence.
“Who doesn’t?” Uchu said, squatting near the repairing drone. She reached into the largest piece of its hull, and came back with a mess of wires, which she dropped, “Should keep it from repairing itself.”
I then knelt down and ran my hand over the husk causing a blue light to emit from it and it decay into light particles that flowed into me. “That’s the only way I’ve seen to truly stop them. He would have been back in a day or two other wise.” I then looked at Uchu “How do I get out of this Dimension myself?”
“Pardon?” Uchu asked, looking confused.
“I’m asking if you know of a way for me to go and finish hunting down Dimtec for killing my parents.” I told her as I stood at my full height and headed up the stairs, “We should also check on the others.”
“AH, right,” Uchu said, and I barely caught a mumble about attending college several times and still not understanding what ‘she’ just said, “Well, to be honest, you’re going to need help.”
“I’ll use their own stuff against them.” I said as I continued to climb, “I can just go and get things from the ruins first.” We reached the top of the stairs and I looked around at the party that seemed to have been uninterrupted. I could see Lyra talking to Carrot Top and Bon Bon over in the corner of the large room.
“There’s a reason they use these, you know,” Uchu said, looking at the small mess of wires in her hand, “they know their every weakness. Essentially, you can’t beat them with their own weapons.”
“Maybe not the automated ones but I could get myself better equipment.” I countered with a smirk as I watched Aunt Pinkie having some ponies play Pin the Tail on the Pony.
“I can agree, and could make you the equipment,” Uchu said, before her face furrowed, “as a friend to your parents, I can’t let you do it alone.”
“Don’t you have some sort of schedule to keep?” I asked her as I noticed Princess Luna entering the Hall and mingling with everypony.
“I can work around it,” Uchu said.
I then took a deep breath and released it in a sigh, “I guess I should go and let them know that my fight isn’t over just yet.”
“That you should,” Uchu answered.
I then started walking over to the party and smiled at a few ponies as I head to my Aunts and the Princess.
“Scylla!” Luna called out, “What took you so long, is this not a party for you?” The Lunar Princess looked rather cheered.
“I was making a new friend, Princess.” I said back with a smile and a wave. “How have you been?”
“Quite well,” the princess smiled, “Though I do wonder what new friend would prompt you to be so late for your own celebration.”
“Her name is Uchu Ijo. She says she’s a Multiverse Traveler and has been here before.” I told her as I sat next to her as my Aunts began to talk amongst themselves.
“Interesting,” she said, “I heard your parents mention her once, but I wasn’t sure what they said was true.”
I nodded before continuing “I’m glad hearing that you don’t think my parents were crazy.”
“I never did, I merely thought it was someone playing with them or something,” Luna said, smiling, “the stories they told in the days after were interesting indeed.”
“I wish they were still here.” I said with a sigh and clenching my fist “But Dimtec had to kill them for trying to have a family.”
“Monsters they certainly were,” Luna said with a sigh, “ So, why is Uchu here?”
“Apparently I didn’t destroy all of Dimtec like I thought I did five years ago.” I told Luna, “And they are now waging a war against other Displaced like my parents.”
“Hmm, that is definitely not good news,” she answered, “Are you planning something? Remember,” a look of concern crossed the regal pony’s face, “you have us, if you need our help.”
“I know Princess.” I told her and looking away from her face not having the heart to look her in the eye. “And I was planning on going across the Multiverse and finish destroying Dimtec.”
There was a moment of silence, “Okay, but listen. Take help, I don’t think anypony could take it if you never returned.”
“Uchu says that she will go with me.” I said putting a comforting arm over Princess Luna’s shoulders. “And I’ll be fine I’ve fought them before without training.”
“Good,” Luna said.
“Could you please wait until after I leave to let them know?” I ask pointing over to my Aunts “I just know they will try and stop me like they did the first time I did this.” I then stood and gave the royal alicorn a hug. “I will be sure to visit regularly.” I told her as I walked back toward Uchu ready to go to the ruins with the gear I already had.
“I assume you’re ready?” Uchu said, fiddling with her wrist yet again.
“Yeah I am.” I said as I continued toward the doors leaving the sound of cheerful celebration behind me. I then stepped out into the crisp evening air of the twilight light that Princess Luna had brought to her ponies for the night.
