The light blue mare looked up, her fingers laced into one another as she nodded. The gray mare at the doorway, Octavia she believed, smiled, before a white head appeared over her shoulder, and Vinyl giggled. “Of course, make sure to knock. It’s a long trip to Ponyville, and I have a hard time being in confined spaces with this cutie.” Her eyes than lowered, and she licked her lips. “Of course, if Octavia is willing-”
“I’m not, we’re leaving, and enjoy the ride Coloratura.”
She slowly nodded, keeping her smile on until the door clicked shut. Once the two were gone though, the shakes started back up, and she slowly wrapped her arms around herself. Her rather impressive bosom pushed back, but it was kind of nice at the same time. She hummed for a second, and her smile returned, even if it was miniscule compared to the ones she used to wear.
”Even if you find a new label though, I will do everything to make sure you fail. Understand? I will not simply take this… break in contract lightly.”
The joy in her fell as she brought her knees up to her chest. She still had her looks, but Sven had robbed her of everything else. The lawsuits, the defamation of her character, the ‘exposed secrets’ given out by her manager… Only Applejack and her friends supposedly still believed there was some good in her, but for all they knew, she was still to be in Manehatten. She hadn’t lost her house, her friends, or her job.
“At least some musicians will still believe in a star, even if the white one wanted to be my new DJ.” A sigh escaped her lips, and she tucked her head inbetween her legs. Maybe she would feel better after the train ride.
Bonk.
Her eyes shot open, and she stared at the strange man in her room. He had short, green hair, and wore a well tailored, black italian suit. This all may have been fine, but she had never heard the door open. Opening her mouth did nothing except make the man chuckle. He clasped at her throat as he stood. “Hello there, Miss Tura. My name is Ulvick , and I am your ticket to a better life.”
Coloratura stared at him for a few moments, before her eyelids narrowed, and she said, sucessfully to her surprise, “A little enchantment to hide your horn isn’t going to impress me.”
A small chuckle escaped Ulvick as he leaned back, and then snapped. A pulse of black magic radiated from the snap, and she followed his finger as he pointed to the window. Standing up and looking forward, Coloratura thought she might be sick.
The world was frozen in time. “What did you do?”
The pale man stepped beside her and looked outside with her. “I’ll admit, it’s a rather impressive party trick, but after about the first minute the novelty fades. Kind of comes with the territory of nothing happening.”
Coloratura jumped back onto the small bed in the compartment, backing herself into a corner as she stared at her, and her heart hammered in the ears. “Wh-what do you want?”
Ulvick rolled his eyes and leaned back against the wall before crossing his legs. “What I desire, Miss Tura, or Rara, if I-”
“Only one pony is allowed…” She grit her teeth as his smile grew.
“Trust me, deary, I know about Applejack, and how you wish for her to never find out that the freedom she gave you led you to ruin. And, to be honest,” his smile faded with each word, and now was a deep scowl, “I hate it myself. As a demon who rather likes a little bit of fun in the world, to see such a beautiful voice fall from grace disgusts me.”
Coloratura smoothed out the dark blue skirt she was wearing as a blush came to her face. It seemed silly, but after two weeks of being called a fraud, it was actually really ttouching to hear from a fan, even one as… unique as this. “You really liked my music?”
“Of course I did! And that last one that should have been a hit?” He kissed a few of his fingers. “Pure gold. And that, that is why I must help you!” He raised one hand, pointing to the sky as he declared, ‘Until you no longer need my services, I, Ulvick, the destroyer of realities, will help you! And,” he put one finger to his cheek and smiled, “then I won’t have to do my job.”
Coloratura tilted her head, the whole thing starting to make sense, but also making none. “Job?”
He waved a hand in front of himself, before a book appeared in his hands. “This, is the tool I will use to help you with. While blank within, any wish you write in it one day will come true the next. The caveat though, is that you are using the ‘artifact’s power, and it has a but a drop of my true strength in it. The more you use it, the stronger it gets. Sound fair?”
She stared at the book in her hands, slowly blinking as her mind stopped on one thing. “Anything I wish for?”
Ulvick placed a hand on the journal, and nodded. “Just please, try to make it something interesting. I thrive on entertainment, and unfortunately, despite how chaotic things appear to be, they never quite stay long enough to actually be fun or interesting. Just look at Sombra if you want to see what I’m talking about.”
“Sombra?”
“Exactly.”
Coloratura placed a hand on her forehead, as it now felt like it was throbbing. Maybe this was all a dream, or the wild mare that Octavia had brought had slipped her something. A slight buzzing let her leave that track of thought, and she checked her phone. It was from Ulvick, and it said, Good luck, and if you have any questions, write them in the book.
After the conversation they’d just had, she was doubtful how helpful asking her questions now would be though, and so simply turned her phone off. Her eyes then drifted back to the book, and her chest tightened. This was a late train, and they wouldn’t get to Ponyville until tomorrow around noon, so she could make her first wish, so long as she trusted the demon. The question now was, what did she write?
