The Light became darkness than light again confusing my every step or what I thought was my step as I was floating in some moments walking in the next. The doors to this house confusing me, my friend's ponies I loved unable to see me notice me. It was confusing altogether strange experience. If I neglected movement time passed as fast as my eyes could comprehend if my eyes were there anymore as I still didn’t understand how this worked.
Memories came at random telling of three little fillies who used to play ignorant to the world around them the harshness it held, the horrors, the true monsters not the ones depicted in movies and fairy tales but us ponies capable of such excellence but yet such destruction. Some memories were happy, I shouldn’t say most as they were mostly happy. Those three fillies that had their reality shattered by a rainbows death. Some more than most as three fillies became two closely following the event that showed Equestria that not everything is just happy and nice, there’s not always a happy ending, no just a cruel world that has no mercy for those that fall behind.
This place wherever it was showed me that however, young I might have been is lost to me, just as my name is.
“Hello, who are you miss?” a voice asked me. Turning toward the voice I saw a little yellow filly with orange mane and tail, a blue bow at the bottom of her mane. The part that shocked was that she could hear me.
“I’m..” I thought hard, bringing up memories up but alas the name remained hidden to me “Somepony,”
“Somepony?” the filly said with a giggle “That's a funny name,”
“What’s your name little one?” I asked the little filly, sitting up slightly.
“It’s Pumpkin Cake. My brother's not here not now so it’s just me! Until of course you came,” I smiled at her antics, it was nice to see somepony notice me even though they're young. I decided to entertain my newfound pal. what else could I do?
“How about I show you something?” I asked her, a small smile on my face.
“What is it?”
“Well, it’s how will you put it? A secret,” I said knowing what I was going to do.
“A secret? I don’t know, what would my mom think?”
“You’ll be back before she notices don’t worry” the filly though about this for a while but it mattered little to me as I had time to spare.
“Alright, let’s go!” I gave another chuckle at her answer.
“Get on my back,” I said keeping my small smile on my face.
“Are we going to fly?” Pumpkin Cake said her eyes lighting up at the idea.
“You're going to have to see,” and with that Pumpkin Cake got on my back.
“But wait we're in here how are we going to get out-” Pumpkin was cut off with a flash of light, then we appeared outside out in a field.
“Wow! How did you do that?” Pumpkin asked amazed.
“I have my ways,” I said going upward with my wings reaching a height I couldn’t hope to achieve in my time being alive. Pumpkin Cake was enjoying herself by wowing every now and then, while also gaping at the fantastic views I showed her, as these views excited her they made me sadder as time passed. The way she was so full of life and warmth, feeling, emotions things I long forgotten or just couldn’t do. I saw the places we saw as times when I was alive when things were better, memories came back faster than i could keep up with. So I took Pumpkin Cake back to her room as I didn’t want to fall out of the sky, I couldn’t die but she could.
“Aww, it’s over already,” Pumpkin Cake said while she got off my back.
“Yes,” I said simply, trying to understand some of the memories meanings.
“Your sad aren’t you?” Pumpkin asked out of the blue with that childlike innocence. I stayed quiet at this remark “Why are you sad?”
“Something happened a long time ago that made me sad, really sad,” I said trying to keep the dark truth from corrupting a filly as young as her.
“What happened?” Pumpkin asked still wanting to know more.
“Stuff,” I answered lamely not knowing how else to put it.
“That's what grown-ups always say when they think that I’m not old enough to know something!” Pumpkin said slightly frustrated at my answer.
“Because their trying to protect you from stuff that may hurt you,” I said trying to explain it to her.
“What if I don’t need protecting!” Pumpkin said gritting her teeth.
“That's what I thought!” I said my voice rising slightly as my memories coming to focus.
“But-” Pumpkin started.
“No listen,” I said with a sigh bringing my memories to the surface,”I thought I could handle it and it ended in disaster, I couldn’t handle it and to be honest I still can’t come to terms with it. If my parents were there they might have kept me from seeing...her...but they weren’t, which is why you're lucky to have your parents around all the time,” Silence leaked into the room after I finished speaking.
“Okay, but I want to know one more thing,” Pumpkin said her voice chasing the ever persistent silence lurking nearby at all times.
“Alright, what is it?” I asked hesitantly should it be more about my past.
“What's your name?” After the question was asked I searched my memories tirelessly searching for it sifting through memory after memory until my effort was rewarded with the very thing that I sought. After telling her I felt a tug of sorts, that made me want to follow saying my goodbye I drifted out the room fading as a bright light appeared before me.
“Goodbye,” Pumpkin said watching as the mare left the room.
“Pumpkin who are saying goodbye to?” Mrs. Cake asked while entering the room shortly after the mares departure.
“Miss Scootaloo,” Pumpkin said “We talked about a lot of things, she showed me tons of places, then she said she had to go so I said goodbye,”
