//-------------------------------------------------------// To Me -by AngelWing456- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Silk //-------------------------------------------------------// Silk Rarity used her magic to levitate a feather duster, and used it to gently sweep the dust off of one of the purple shelves on one of the walls in the boutique. Light from the mid-days sun poured through the window, but the shining from the lights inside the building were bright, therefore making the outside light unnoticeable. Rarity didn't mind though, as she continued smiling whilst doing her normal routine in tidying up her home and workplace. Not after long, she finished cleaning and placed the duster back down, finishing her first chore. Next to one of her hooves, she could hear the deep purring of her cat Opal. She looked down at the animal and smiled softly before petting her with her hoof. "Well, I can scratch 'cleaning' off of my to-do list," She levitated a clipboard with a list attached to it. "Let's see what we need to do next... Ah! I have too--" A faint bell sound suddenly rung, signaling that somepony had entered the boutique. Quickly, she placed the clipboard down and turned towards the door. She smiled as she saw her friend, Twilight Sparkle. The alicorn waved a hoof, and the look on her face was evident something was urgent. "Why, hello darling! Whatever is the matter?" Rarity asked, approaching Twilight, her voice serious yet calm. "Uh, hey Rarity. I need.. a favor." Twilight replied, looking towards the ground. "Can you give me some, uh, 'freebies'?" "But of course! When would I ever deny a request from one my dearest friends?" She smiled brightly. "What is it that you need, dear?" "Well," She walked past Rarity and walked further into the boutique. She turned her head, observing her surroundings. "That's the part I need to figure out." Her smile faltered a bit. "Oh. Well, uhm--" "I know you've been working on a new line. I was wondering if I could maybe see it real quick? You've been working for awhile so it must be great." Rarity's former excitement returned as she replied, "Oh, yes! You are going to love the new line! I've been working on it for simply forever!" She galloped to the back of the building, and grabbed a rack which hung some very long, colorful dresses. She pulled them out from the back and into Twilight's view. "I call it; 'Aimer de le Rouge'! Isn't it simply gorgeous?!" On the rack, there were five dresses, each soaked in different shades of red on the skirts, torsos, and collars. Not to mention, there was also different parts of the dresses in black lace, mainly in the leg area. They looked very elegant, but Twilight was still curious to them. "I love the dresses Rarity," She said calmly, still scanning the them with her eyes. "Is.. is this all of them?" "Absolutely not! I've been planning about four more dresses, each with their own unique fabric and shades! I'm so glad you love it darling. I was afraid you wouldn't because of the lace." "Why would I not like it because of the lace?" She inquired, since it was an awfully random thing to say to her. "Because, dear, I just feel like lace isn't your style." Rarity examined Twilight, trying to envision what style would fit her. "You definitely look like somepony who looks good in silk." Twilight folded her ears down and asked, "I don't suppose you have some silk dresses I can see?" Rarity tilted her head. "Surely I do, but I must ask, why is it so urgent you see my dresses? You aren't usually looking for these types of things. Tell me, is there some special occasion?" Rarity almost cooed the last part. "No, no special occasion," She smiled nervously. "I just.. want to see what it's like! Y-yeah! To be 'fashionable' everyday, like you!" "Okay..." Rarity gave Twilight a weird look. Hmm... It's not like her to be so interested in fashion.. What is up with her today? Rarity thought before she went to find her other dresses, but not without glancing back at Twilight, who noticed and waved a hoof. "Okay, I think this is the one!" Twilight beamed, wearing a green silky dress that dragged behind her on the floor. "Darling, please, you've said that the last million dresses you tried on!" She pointed to a pile of dresses on the floor in the corner, which all have been failed attempts at finding the 'perfect' dress. "I know, but this one is positively the dress I want!" She seemed so sure, but it was still the same reaction to the others. "Uh huh. Darling, it isn't like you're going to the Gala. And, in all honesty, it feels like you're stalling." She admitted out-loud. Twilight paid no mind. Rarity sighed, and place a hoof on her friends back. "Would you mind to tell me why this is actually necessary. Nopony goes through this much trouble just for a day outfit!" "I--uh--have a meeting with Celestia. You know, about my friendship lessons for Starlight." She smiled, almost convincingly. Rarity gave the 'are-you-serious' look, but she ignored it. "Twilight." She said sternly. She started to get tired that Twilight would keep denying that anything is wrong, and then making up excuses. During their time, she had tried to boil down what the real reason is. Maybe... she's self-conscious. Rarity had thought. Now, especially after all that time going through so many dresses, she knew that her thoughts were proven correct. Either that, or Twilight was trying to impress somepony. "Rarity--" "No! Listen, Twilight. I think I see what's really going on here." "Uhm, before we discuss that, do you have any, um, eyeliner? Or can you do my mane? Please?" "And I just need to tell you, that it doesn't just take fancy lace and silk dresses to make you beautiful." Her face grew softer from what it had been, and her voice softened as well. "Do you.. have some... accessories for my hair?" Twilight's voice wavered, Rarity's words distracting her. "You, and everypony, is perfect just the way they are. The makeup and dresses are simply just a bonus! Why, Twilight, though sometimes you do need to run a comb through your mane, you still look rather stunning on a daily basis! Why I--" Then, Rarity realized what she just said. She blushed a bit, turned her head, and put her ears down before continuing, "Twilight, you're simply beautiful. To me." Twilight had stopped arguing, and the boutique went dead quiet. Twilight sat, stunned, and blushing like a madman. "To you?" She asked, but her voice was a whisper. She tried to compose herself, but she heard Rarity's voice cut into the air; "Yes. You are the most beautiful mare I have ever known, and I--" She paused. She then chocked out, "-I've liked you for a long time. Your intelligence, the way you always have that sparkle in your eye. Seeing you like this, acting like you need all this glamour and all this color, it makes me... upset. Twilight, you're beautiful, and I love you." Twilight put her hoof under rarity's chin, and forced her head to turn towards hers. "Rarity." She smiled, tears nearly forming at the brim of her eyes. "I love you too." The two mares gazed into eachothers eyes for a moment, before leaning their heads in for a short, sweet, long overdue kiss.
