The pair of pancakes browned on the buttery pan. Spike flipped them over to the uncooked side, standing on his stool to help him reach the stove. Rather bored, he began to gradually tap his foot to a tune he had just thought up.
Thump-a-thump-a-thump. Thump-a-thump-a-thump.
He flipped the pancakes onto a plate, and they landed right on top of each other. He moved the pan aside to cool down before washing it. He picked up the plate and hopped off the stool.
As he walked to the Table of Harmony, the tune reentered his head, and he began to whistle. He set the plate down and walked back into the kitchen, still whistling. He opened the pantry door and took the low-fat syrup out, and he stepped out and closed the door behind him.
He walked back to the table, set the syrup next the pancakes, and stopped whistling. He sighed and smiled at his work. "After this, she better let me go to the party," Spike said, grinning. He took a deep breath. "TWILIGHT!!"
After a few seconds, he heard the sound of thumping and glass breaking. Spike crossed his arms and rolled his eyes.
"I'm coming! J-Just give me a second!" Twilight yelled back.
She opened her door slowly and stumbled out. When she reached the kitchen, Spike was met with an unsettling sight.
Twilight had bags beneath her eyes, her hair was all over the place, and dried drool was all over her lips. She had probably stayed up all night again, working on new spells. Spike sighed heavily.
"Twilight, were you up all night again?" Spike asked irritatedly.
Twilight began to cough violently. A little bit spit shot onto Spike's face. He rubbed his face to get rid of the spit. "Oh geez! Twilight, cover your mouth!" Spike exclaimed.
Twilight began to moan, letting out a light cough. "Ugh Spike, I think I came down with something... Ah-choo!" Twilight sneezed.
Spike unfolded his arms, and his expression softened. "Oh, well... You want to go to the doctor to see what it is?" Spike asked.
"Oh, no no no! I already read a book on what it is; it's the flu," Twilight said, with a light smile, but she began to cough again. "A week in bed, some flu medicine, and a nice warm bowl of noodle soup would be nice," Twilight said with a smirk.
"Oh well, I made a some pancakes," Spike said with a smile.
"Oh no, Spike I have the flu! I need something like soup-- the warm liquid can improve upper respiratory tract symptoms by providing hydration and stimulating nasal clearance," Twilight said with a smile.
Spike looked at her with a aggravated look, and Twilight's smiled faded and she let out a fake cough.
"Fine... I got to go the market. I'll back, so get some sleep," Spike said as he walked to the door. Twilight nodded.
Spike walked out the castle. "This going be a long week," he sighed.
(Market)
Spike walked through the market, amongst the hundreds of ponies buying various goods. He knew with all these ponies there, it was going be a long line just to get stuff he needed. He sighed. "Screw this! I bet Fluttershy has some soup I can get for free," Spike said with a grin.
"Hiya Spike," a voice said.
Spike turned around to see Applejack smiling down at him.
Spike smiled. "Hi Applejack! How's it going?"
"Oh, nothing. Just getting stuff for Applebloom. Which reminds me, are you coming, because Applebloom has been talking about it a looot," Applejack said with a smirk.
Spike awkwardly smiled back. "You know it, haha."
"Great! See ya there! Oh and tell Twilight I said hi." Applejack grinned.
Spike nodded. "Alright, I'll see ya later!" Spike waved at Applejack, walking away.
Applejack waved back. "What a good kid he is."
"Oh no, I lied to the Element of Honesty! Princess Celestia won't be happy about that, but I have others things to deal with right now," Spike sighed.
(Fluttershy's cottage)
Fluttershy was in her backyard tending to her garden. She carefully planted a patch of lettuce and watered them while humming a soft tune. She closed her eyes and bounced her head to the beat.
Spike walked out of the back door of the cottage and saw his friend watering her plant. He walked closer. "Hi, Fluttershy."
Startled, Fluttershy turned around to see Spike smiling at her. She gave him a shy smile and said, "Oh hey, Spike. You scared me! I thought you were that bear that tried to kill me last week."
Spike frowned, confused. He was about to say something about this bear problem, but he then remembered he was here for soup. "Oh, sorry to hear that... I guess... But do you have some noodle soup I could use?" Spike asked with a smile.
"Sure, what for?" Fluttershy asked.
"Twilight has the flu and she is just dying for some soup," Spike responded.
"Oh, sorry to hear that. Tell her I said get better soon and I'll stop by later with some tea."
"Sure. I was going to go to Applebloom's party but I have to help Twilight. Don't get me wrong, I'll do anything for Twilight, but I kinda lied to Applejack and told her I was coming, so if I don't I'm going look like a jerk." Spike frowned, looking rather forlorn.
Fluttershy felt bad about Spike's little mix up, as it reminded her of the day she used to be a young filly in a bad place. Besides, she would anything for a friend in need.
"You know what, Spike? I'll help Twilight out for tonight. You have fun at the party," Fluttershy said with a smile.
Spike looked up, suprised. "Really, for me? Please don't lie to me," Spike said, his mood lifting.
Fluttershy nodded and Spike jumped up and down. "Thank you!" he yelled excitedly. Upon getting the soup, he ran off in the direction of the castle.
"What a good kid," Fluttershy said as she watched him run off.

Sick Dream!
"Twilight, please wake up," The voice echoed around Twilight head. Twilight ears flinched to right and left as the voice repeated itself like a broken record. She tossed violently on her back spreading her arms out on her bed.
"Twilight!" The voice yelled. Twilight covered her ears and she bit down on her lips as her closed eyes twitched.
Calm down, Twilight. It's just a dream, you can control anything you want, Twilight thought to herself.
Green grass, big rough trees with bright green leaves and a river with clear water appeared around Twilight. She quickly got up off the grass and looked around with a big smile and glowing eyes. She jumped around, laughing and humming a wonderful tone.
"Well hey there, Twilight. Never thought I would see you around with being the princess and all," A squeaky voice said.
Twilight stopped jumping and looked behind her but she didn't see anyone. "Who was that," Twilight asked herself.
"Down here friend!" The voice called out.
Twilight looked down at the grass to see a familiar chipmunk smiling at her.
"Remember me?" The chipmunk asked.
A large smile grew on Twilight face as she ran in place. "Chip, is that you?" Twilight asked happily.
"Yep"
"I haven't dreamed of you since the 5th grade. What are doing here?" Twilight asked excitedly.
Chip's smile drifted and he looked down at the grass; once she saw this Twilight's smile followed suit.
"Chip... what's going on?" Twilight asked softly.
"Well, ever since you've been studying a lot more and... I hate to say this... but not having as much fun," Chip took a deep breath. "You forgot about me," he sighed.
"Look Chip. I know that after I got out school I kept working, pushing you aside, and I'm sorry for that," Twilight said sadly.
"It's OK. I forgive you, but Twilight, I have to tell you something," Chip said, smiling.
Twilight stepped closer. "What is it?"
"WAKE UP!"
Twilight yelled as she quickly sat up in her bed. Her fur was soaked with sweat and she had snot running down her nose. She opened her eyes to see Fluttershy in the corner covering herself with her front hooves and shaking.
"Umm, Fluttershy? What are you doing here?" Twilight asked, confused.
Fluttershy slowly put her hooves down and looked at Twilight, still in fear, she spoke.
"OH! Umm, Spike needed to do something...and I offered to help," Fluttershy let out a tense chuckle. Fluttershy blushed and Twilight took notice.
"What did he have to do?" Twilight asked, as she narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
Fluttershy started to fidget nervously. She didn't know if Spike wanted her to tell Twilight about the party.
OK,OK just calm down Fluttershy, remember your breathing exercises, she thought as she took a deep breath in and out for a time. Twilight eyed her up and down.
"He went to pick up a couple of things and... went to see a couple of pals he hasn't seen in a while. "Fluttershy said as she smiled anxiously.
"Oh, I guess that's fine," Twilight said.
Relief washed over Fluttershy and her blush faded. "Do you want some soup?" Fluttershy asked.
"No, I'm fine. I just want to go back to sleep," Twilight said with a smile.
Fluttershy nodded and left the room. "Oh man, I wish I'd brought my wine," Fluttershy said as soon as she had shut the door
