An Average Day at Sweet Apple Acres
I felt my conciseness start to revive after being pushed back and shut off to the back of my mind for the last few hours.
I moved around slowly almost at a motionless state on my bed. I felt the cozy and warm love of my bed as it enveloped me in it's warmth like a mother's love does to her child.
I felt a direct beam of warmth start to press on my face ever so gently, I laid there on my bed for next few minutes breathing in softly the home like atmosphere that radiated throughout my room.
The peaceful silence rang true to my ears until a nose finally broke through it in a form of a rooster singing it's same tune that it does everyday signaling that it was now 6:00 and the start of the Celesta's morning and the end of Luna's night.
I opened my eyes and looked slowly toward where the beam of warmth that was hitting me. It was of course where the window was which allowed me the luxurious privilege of having it overlook the better part of the front of Sweet Apple Acres, which was my home as far as I was concerned for the past three years.
I was mighty proud of being an apple, even though I was not blood related to the Apple Family my mind, heart and soul has already been fully integrated into the Apple family's way of life.
Living, eating, working in solidarity with my new found family and community led me to a life of purpose and pride and when the entire family is at it's best and the community itself was at peace everyone could live a life of freedom, dignity and friendship.
Despite being a cohesive group of prosperous pony’s we were also very individualistic and we strive for the betterment of ourselves to become more hard working and rational over the course of our life.
I rubbed the sleepiness of the night away from my eyes as I got out of bed, I remember being a pretty messy sleeper a few years back always moving one way than moving the other. As I found purpose in life and found out what it truly meant to live.. in a almost divine way I started to rest more in peace as if my mind and body came in tune with my inner self.
This made making the bed nice and easy which was all fine and dandy to me. I calmly made my bed wrapping the sheets on top of each one and when I was finished the queen sized bed seemed like a brand new piece of me that had just been delivered from the local store.
My room was fairly simple, but it has gone on a journey of transformation much like I have over the course of these short years which when looking back felt like lifetimes flowing in the air through the tips of my fingers.
When I first got it, it was a simple guest room fairly normal sized with a wooden floor made up with looks that stood out like light chocolate with fine and tender lines graceful giving the flooring life.
The walls were bare as was the ceiling when I first moved in here all those years ago.. But now that I was standing on my own will looking over the room laid out in front of me I realized that my domain has change radically over the past three years.
What started out as a simple and empty room with a lone bed fitting for only one person has transformed to a place I can call my home.
The bed was now double the size it used to be thanks to a certain mare spending much of her time here with me, there was a closet and a major shelf with two minor ones coming up at its flank.
A lone window on my left brought in the life bringing the sun’s rays into my room it was shaped in a square like fashion and looking into the eyes of it the onlooker would get a peek into a world of wonder and mystery where the dreams of anybody can come true.
A clock sat ideally by next to my bed along with a lamp which was the source for all my light during Luna's realm of darkness. During the time of the rising sun it was the giver of life which illuminated my room with its crisp and tender light.
I wanted to work on a new clock which would ring and wake me up during when my work hours would start. However the clever rooster had always come out of its hen house and signaled the start of a brand new day at exactly 6:00 everyday so there was no need to work for the next few hours on having a working alarm clock.
Deep inside the depths of the closet clothes of every strip and style were hanged in good fashion just like Rarity would want them to be. My working outfit was what I used almost every day I also held in my possession traveling clothes, casual clothes and the suit which I wear once every year.. My Gala Suit.
Which was stuffed at the very back of my closet unknown to the changes that happened in lockstep around the world. Resting on the shelf's were neatly placed frames which captured moments of reality which strikes the emotion of what made life worth living into every soul which had it's eyes come into contact with the frame of reality.
I saw pictures of my first Hearth's warming, Pictures from years ago when I first came to this world unknown for what awaited me in the future.
My first dance at the Gala, My first time I tried to collect apples but failed and almost broke my leg, Good times.. I glanced over at one of my most sacred treasure's which was the picture at the center of all my memories.
I had the most truthful smiles I have ever let settle on face, I saw that Applejack was on top of shoulders since I was giving her a piggy back ride.
Her other friends, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Pinkie Pie were there as well all laughing, living, these were the times when I realize that I was finally with my people. Glancing over on the walls were medals and awards along with a few of my most prized possessions as if captured treasured memories wasn't enough.
Many awards and metals from the National Equestrian Canterlot Royal Society of Higher Sciences which came along with my own inventions and discovers which I have made through my years of study with the Master Unicorn Mage Twilight Sparkle along with a few other higher up officials with the help of my own personal lab and telescope right here at Sweet Apple Acres.
I walked toward my closet and collected my work clothes which were Cargo short pants which went down below my knees and a white T-shirt, considering the tremendous amount of work that needs to be done around here you would think these clothes would have been long gone by now but thanks to Granny Smith's techniques and skills in the cleaning business every single weekend it seemed like they were brand new, Why if I didn't know better I would of though Granny Smith would of just sold my dirty clothes and just bought the new ones.
I was still a bit weary from getting pulled from Luna's world of Dreams but by now my body was used to the rooster doing its song of the morning so I was able to make it through the day despite waking up at what I once thought was a unbearable hour.
I left my room and started walking down the hallway toward the bathroom which was just one out of the three located within this house.
The Apple family all lived together in this single large plantation which most people would think would be a mansion only that it didn't have that touch of culture and elegance that came with rich mansions back on earth.
It was simply large and simple and just easy to live in, granted when I first came here I was as lost as a filly would be in a maze but as time moved on and my life became more and more about the work I did at Sweet apple acres and so I adjusted and got used to the miles of farm land and apple trees along with the fine plantation that ruled over the farm.
I walked into the bathroom and adjusted the shower temperature to a reasonable warmish cool.
Despite on what you might think the bathrooms around the plantation were actually pretty sophisticated and up to date in terms of technology, while the apples loved to keep their tradition and do things the old fashioned way they made use of really nice modern equipment when it was needed.
The bathroom looked typical with a black and white titled flooring with a carpet in the middle along with a whitish ceiling.
The bathroom came with an up to date shower and bathtub which was combined as to make it possible for one device to be able to handle both functions at once. It came with a clean sink and below held a cabinet which had all the tools necessary for a healthy lifestyle for teeth, medicine, skin care and other such health related tools.
Granny Smith has been slowing down as of late in her physical work so she has done most of her part of the work in cleaning the house and working on fixing the small stuff that were over looked by the main goals focused on for that day. So everyday I got up I always felt like I was welcomed into a new house even though in my mind I knew it was the same one.
I finally stepped in cautiously into the shower letting the warm water fall on me like a newly created waterfall and then letting it rise in a form of steam up to the white skies.
Being the only human in Equestria did make things a tad bit more difficult in terms of integrating since a lot of the applications were made for pony use and since there was no humans around Equestria or things that even remotely resembled humans but over the times I built my own showers and what not to suit my needs.
Being the only human in this new world was at first pretty lonely but then again I was used to this type of loneliness since I had seldom amount of friends and plus.. I liked it this way. Living my own way while having a sense of purpose with friends that actually cared was something that was so far outside of what could happen on Earth that I never gave it much though until I landed here and after a while realized that I didn't really need to be around people, This might be cause I almost immediately hit it off with being friends with many of the Pony folk around town and after living with the Apple Family for all these years I now consider it as my family.
I took a quick 10 minute shower with fairly warm water flowing freely down on my body. I cleaned everywhere that I could I then washed my face and then lastly my hair. I am usually not like normal ponies and certainly not like Rarity when it comes to personal habits like Hygiene, while it was of the up most importance I do take a shower especially that I worked and got sweaty all day it wasn't something I would fret over if I got dirty.
It is what made life at Sweet Apple Acres so much easier and fun in that I loved getting my hands dirty in the name of another hard day’s work.
Still.. Showers and Cleanliness always had there up sides in that they always started off a fresh new day while renewing your spirit for the start of your fresh ambitions. I closed the water flowing down from the shower head and dried myself with a fresh towel waiting patiently for me on a towel rack.
I looked myself in the mirror and took a good look at myself, Noticing myself in the mirror every morning made me realize how much I changed since I arrived here in Equestria, I don't think I am even the same person both mentally and physically as well as spiritually, I’ve changed names, families and even the meaning of my life as to rid the old me away from my current self permanently Though you could never rid yourself of your past because the events of the timeline that the universe sets for all of us affects us all the way until our souls wisp away from this reality forever but during that time of change you are crafted into a new person like a blacksmith forging his sword.
I still had my slick brown hair which I had cut to make short since having hair in front of your eyes never helped me get my work done, in fact it was more of a burden than a help. I shaved regularly and cut a lot of my hair as to make short and had a goal of having near zero facial hair. Thanks to my daily almost 8-10 hour day's working on the farm my arms were visibly strong and firm as were my hands but the constant climbing and jumping and collecting of apples and farm equipment had granted me muscles on my arms not the type you see on athletic junkies but the moderate amount which was not overbearing nor was it underdeveloped and weak.
During my runs and lifts of apple crates and wagons coming from the farm and back to home my legs were also extremely resilient and strong and could tread for miles before starting to show signs of fatigue it didn't have muscles but just from looking the onlooker could tell that the legs showed signs of strength. My Body was muscled up and buff but as was the case with my arms I wasn't completely beefed in muscle but just from the feeling of my chest you can get the impression of having it built with muscle and strength.
I slipped on my work clothes which I brought with me as I headed out of my room and into the other domains of the house. First came the Boxers and then the shorts, Usually by the time the cold wind and Winter snow came flowing down from the Frozen North harvest time was over so I didn't have to spend most of my day outside as I did during the Spring, Summer and for a little while during the Fall which is why my work clothes was suited best for warm weather.
After strapping on my belt and moving it in place I took my white T-Shirt and gently placed it over my body and then pulled it down from the bottom to straighten it out. I walked outside of the bathroom the moist air that was filled from the warm shower had by now calmed but still little bits of it glided through the air as it moved farther off it mixed in the air and then it was gone...
I walked on the wooden flooring taking my time as I moved toward the stairs which would bring me to the living room. I sat down on a nearby chair and with ease I let myself put on my socks and let my feet slip into my work books.
Breathing in another breath of the fresh morning home air I began moving down the stairs easily, as I made my way down the stairway I noticed the all too familiar smell of cooked oatmeal with eggs and bacon getting cooked on the stove I also noticed the sweet scent of a freshly picked apple, most likely from yesterday's harvest. My stomach grumbled in anticipation of the readymade food and with it my mouth watered just a bit to the scent of food that was now filling the atmosphere that used to have a scent of morning dew and a home waiting to be experienced by a unknown individual.
Granny Smith always woke up the earliest out of all of us while I, Applejack and Big Mac would wake up around the time the rooster would start calling out its song of a new start but Granny was up and at them at around 5 in the morning. I would sometimes on restless nights wake up really early and take a few walks around the orchard or even through town looking about my new home and community. Sometimes I would have the Princess of the Night join me and she would educate me on the various new constellations and star clusters. During the darkest moments of the night at around three or four in the morning the stars were so plentiful that they almost covered the night sky like a starry night blanket that a mother would cover her child in as they slept soundly in some far away world.
In this case the Princess of the night would bring out the moon and wrap her little ponies and all the other creatures that inhabited this strange land into a Realm of bliss and dreams.
I walked into the kitchen which was a bit farther in than most of the rooms downstairs but I managed to pass them in about a minute which brought me through many of the plantations many rooms where each of them held memories from both the past and future, memories and dreams having occurred months or even years ago or future events which were yet to be triggered but nonetheless the rooms around his home held potential and gifts to his life and to his fellow friends.
By the time I reached the kitchen which was pretty big in size mostly because of the large table which was made specifically to hold multiple ponies thanks to the relatively big size of Applejack's family and from the occasional guests which were most of the time the other mane six. There was also a fridge a microwave and many empty kitchen counters where Granny would have space to cook her meals.
“Hey there Granny Smith” I said with a freshness and a sense of eagerness for a hard day’s work up ahead In my voice.
Granny turned toward me, usually she would get scared if someone came up to her and caught her of guard but due to her many years and decades cooking in this same room and getting used to the new family member coming down in the morning to start fresh a new day made her expecting of my presence.
“Did you just come back from one of yer walks or have you just woke up?” Granny Smith said with a smile.
“Woke up to the calls of the rooster, took a shower and all that, simple steady morning so far Ma'am” I walked to where I usually sat on this wooden table which was hoof made from hoofs of the apple family and made from the same resources that came from ground from which we built on, played on, farmed on and lived on.
Granny fixed me a fresh hot meal of eggs and bacon with the mane course of steaming oatmeal fresh off the cooking stove. I gulped down my share of apple juice which was of course made by Sweet Apple Acres brand type apples and then ate down my apple in five quick bites.
Granny Smith set the plates for the other apple's once they got their flanks back down here she then moved upstairs to start washing some clothes and bed sheets after giving me a quick good luck for today's harvest. This left me alone for the next ten minutes as I sat there.. Eating in silence with only the sounds of the morning birds and the constant ticking from a nearby clock.
Once I ate my oatmeal it only took a mere three minutes to eat the rest and afterwards only about seven to clean the plates. Usually if I stayed up just a bit over schedule as I sometimes did studying the stars I would wake up just a tad bit late and I had to do my morning routine a bit faster which resulted in not having enough time to clean the dishes but today I woke up at the perfect time and to save Granny Smith all the trouble at cleaning the dishes later in the morning.
Here in the family we worked together as a unit but more than that we worked together in common kinship and always helped one another whenever one of the family members fell back. I walked back toward the front of the house and noticed that Big Mac was already up and at them cleaning the front porch up from dust and other dirty debris.
Applejack had woken up and was still upstairs getting Applebloom ready for school, Applebloom was now big enough to do almost everything herself so the burden wasn't that bad for Appejack the only thing she had to do was insure that Applebloom was awake and getting ready for school.
I stared out the window into the bright and early rays of the morning, it was a bit past seven now and everypony was already starting their chores and work for the day. I opened the front door and stepped out into the peaceful farm which awaited me, I let the calm morning wind blow gently through my hair as the sun now showing its full form started to bring the whole world back to life in its warmth.
“You had your breakfast yet Big Mac?” I looked over at Big Mac who just finished cleaning the porch and organizing whatever equipment and other such things were laying around out front.
“Ey-Nope” Big Mac responded with his usual catchphrase
Big Mac hardly ever talked whenever he was addressed he always kept to a rather “yep or “Nope” except it had a southern draw accent to it. The only times he talked beyond that was when he had something serious to say other than that he mostly kept to himself and seldom talked which made me relate to him a lot more since I never really talked but whenever I had to I could hold a conversation but I never was actively seeking out a relationship with the ponies around me.
“You heard what I was saying to you applebloom, Im sorry that you stood up way past your bedtime because you didn't listen to me in the first place in doing your homework right after you got home from school silly filly”
I heard that all to recognizable southern accent behind me which when I turned I saw the sparkling green eyes combined with a smooth and calm blond mane with orange skin that stood out like the sun's ray's.
Behind her a much smaller pony which had a yellowish coat with a crisp red mane with a signature pink bow which showed that this was Applebloom.
“Come on Siss.. It's not my fault cheerilee has been dumping more and more work on us every day, I just can't handle it anymore!” Applejack pet her sister's mane smoothly in aeffort to calm her
“I understand that a lot of that math and science stuff might be a little tough on your little mind but trust me one day you will be thanking Cheerilee for helping teach you this stuff” Applebloom and Applejack finished their breakfast in a few short minutes before they came back to the front porch where Big Mac was sitting idly by and I was laying my back against the wall with my hands crossed on each other.
“Alright now Applebloom, it's time for a new day at school, Big Mac are you ready to help her bring her to school?” Applejack turned to Big Mac who replied with a simple “Eeyup”.
“I could start going to school myself, im not a little foal anymore Applejack”
“And im sure you are Applebloom, there is almost no crime ever here and everyone in all of Ponyville is friendly to eachother so I can probably trust you on getting your flank to school and back without getting to much of a fuss but I still want to wait until at least this school years over which should be in a few short weeks” Applejack replied to Applebloom’s request.
Applebloom looked visibly sad for a moment but quickly brightened back to her best and uplifting emotions. “Hey Big Mac! Do you think I can ride on your back as you bring me to school?” Applebloom asked as she ran toward Big Mac a simple nod was all Applebloom needed before she jumped on his back and they started off into the apple orchard toward the ends of the farm.
Applebloom turned back and waved her goodbyes to Applejack and Me before she disappeared into the endless green and red of apples.
The sun was now not beyond the horizon but rising mighty up the sky, work began at around seven to eight right at the time where most pony's would start waking up.
“So Applejack” I got off from resting on the wall of the farm watching the sun rise and the birds flying high and mighty through the new morning sky and toward Applejack who was scanning the horizon of the apple orchard
“What is our plan for getting all those sweet apples off the trees?” Applejack turned toward me with her bright green eyes as bright as the healthy grass of which we lived on lighting up my soul in a unexplainable way.
“Sugercube.. I would of thought that after all these years you would of already have gotten in the routine on what we apples do every morning”
I gave a slight laugh “You know me Applejack, Always having the days work ahead of me never thinking beyond on what my duties are for you and the rest of my family”
“Can't say I don't agree, Always I think that my life is all about apples until that day happens as it does every year.. that all the apples are collected and then fine picked to be the very best and it is then that I realized that for all these months have come to be a plan so I guess at the end of the year it all comes together again” Applejack took her hat off and held it dear near her chest as she took in a breath of fresh morning farm air and let the the calm wind flow like a comb through her mane.
I smiled as I felt the same wind starting to blow on me from the side, “Let's get to the working then Applejack the day's is coming and going and we haven’t even started!”
I slicked my hair back and ran down from the porch onto the grass that was the front yard, I began running into the Orchard looking back quickly I saw applejack staring at me with smile she put on her hat and began running onto another direction. I ran and ran for miles looking overhead as the Pegasus's started moving clouds away as any traces that it was night being gone and now it was truly a new day.
I finally found myself deep enough into the Orchard before I slowed myself into a walk.
The average tree that was rooted into the common ground that the entire apple family worked on and then reaped the the benefits from which it sprouted. Each tree has a strong and natural look on it with a clean shade of brown, no interruptions on the base nothing but a natural growth which came from the ground below. The leaf's were healthy and green with life. The morning sun moving through the canopy of leaves bringing out beautiful hues as tiny lines of light broke through from the green shield and hit it's target sitting without a care in the world right against the trunk. Fresh breathtaking apples numbering at least 25-50 grew from the branches that stretched like arms growing out from their mother trunk. A sharp and crisp red radiated off the apples almost to a point where you could see your own reflection as the bright sun shined on the apples surrounding it into a godly glow of life.
There were thousands of trees like this in Sweet Apples acres and it was my job, my duty, my goal to be sure to collect them all and harvest them this is what it means to live with the apples. That is what the name might suggest, Being part of the Apple Family meant harvesting and growing apples but it meant something more.. it meant a purpose to life that guided us away from nihilism and depression. Being part of this family brought to me a sense of commitment and love which forged in perfect combination with the community at large because despite our differences we were all one united under a common cause of peace and harmony and through this we let out true selves get forged and coming out from this brought about a new and clean you that was so different from the you that rested in your mind as you lived from day to day without purpose or cause that it merits the question of Is that even you anymore?.
The common routine on how we would collect apples was Applejack moving to one side of a specific section of the farm and I would move to another place but still in that same section. We would start collecting apples and before we got too much apples onto the ground, Big Mac would come back from bringing Applebloom to school and his job would be to bring the fresh picked apples and bring them back to the plantation home where he would organize them in what their use would be such as eating, selling, storing for the winter months etc.
Whenever Granny wasn't cleaning the house and simply tidying the farm up she would swoop down to the barn where Big Mac would haul the apples me and Applejack brought down from the trees and would personally look and inspect every single apple and judge like an all-encompassing creator the worth of them and if they were not worthy she would cast them forever into eternal damnation down the trash.
Pony's got their apples by bucking the tree and the apples would fall like cause and effect but since I was not a pony and I was a human I had to do it the old way of climbing stealthily and strategically climbing up the trunk and onto the branches which if they were long enough required me to hang on and climb ahead until I could with one hand holding onto the branch and the other hand I used to grab the hanging apples. The low hanging ones I simply had to stand on my toes and grab and throw into the baskets on the ground which was easy considering I was six feet tall. It took at maximum five minutes on every tree for me to collect every single apple and I would continue on this apple farming until it was one.
I stared up at the sky as Celestas sun was now beating me with its rays of fire as it rested in the middle of the hot blue sky. I wiped the sweat that was now pasted all over my body as if the sun was emitting invisible rain and it had drenched me in its presence.
I didn't carry any hand held watches so the only time's when I could tell if the world around me was still circling around the sun was the inferno above me that rested almost in the middle of the sky and also Big Mac telling me this was the last batch he was going to bring back to the barn. I watched as Big Mac carried my batch of apples away into the distance toward the barn that was about half a mile back near the plantation home.
Rubbing my hair back and looking at my work which I had quietly and with great dedication worked on for the past five hours, I gave out a sigh of relief smiled at the pride that came with doing my part in this work and then started walking back toward the plantation.
Walking back was my cooling down period, a buffer between the endless work and the work that awaited me later in the day but one thing was for sure no matter what time of the day it was I knew work was required of me until Luna started the lunar cycle and night fell upon the great land of Equestria again.
As I came back to the house after picking apples all morning I saw applejack come back from another section of the Orchard. She wasn't sweating or extremely tired out but If I had to take a guess at it I would think it was due to her work ethic since she was born with a natural talent of work and how she was raised as a independent mare who could take care of herself and get things done which combined with strength and honesty and integrity made Applejack the apple in my eye.. so to speak.
Looking at Granny Smith's work around the house and Applebloom's continued search for her Cutie Mark made me see that this trait runs deep within the family and that to unlock it, it would require a commitment to the full potential of oneself which was always a hard thing to do and it always was a lifelong process.
“Here you go Partner” Applejack threw a glass of cider and a cup of fresh water along with a hay sandwich and some apples.
I caught them easily and thanked her before moving on to the porch. I sat on a rocking couch as I settled in for my lunch which not only was my time to eat and refresh for the rest of the day but it was also my well-deserved break after hours of collecting apples.
I gulped down my cider and almost got into a coughing fit after drinking to much fresh water, I allowed some water to fall on my face as to mitigate the effects of the scorching afternoon sun. After biting down some fresh apples I finished my main course of hay sandwiches at a normal pace as I watched the birds in the trees and the Pegasus's flying far and free up in the deep ocean blue world above.
There was a soft chill as the wind blew through the almost quiet farm, most of the farms back on earth were industrial and close to the cities and thus there was always nose and bureaucracy but here.. it was different the nearest town was a average and peaceful one and yet the farm was still at least a few miles away with almost a mile of farmland before reaching the steps of the apple family farm so the atmosphere of my entire new home was introverted and in a strange way a mix of absolute peacefulness and quietness but it still had the sounds of nature, of the wind and birds along with the distant dances of the apple trees the natural sounds of the free animals and soft grass below a pony's hoofs this was the way things were supposed to be.
I finished my lunch and began my new shift which involved getting my hands dirty and when I had to get my hands dirty which meant getting into the grind of things it meant working in the barn and moving some apple barrels and guns throughout the place for the next two to three hours.
Picking myself up I walked off the porch and toward the barn which emitted a smell that in my honest option was repulsive but at least bearable and when you've been working with these suckers for the past three years it's easy to ignore or just tolerate the smell. One thing I learned a lot of from my work with the animals that we raised on farm and from animal care lessons from Fluttershy is that they share a lot of goals that us sentient creatures do.
We always get carried away and become smug with our intelligence which is far superior to that of a animal but going to the basics of our mind's when you throw somepony into survival it will become a animal it is only when we band together and civilization prevails that we can survive and unlock the potential that rests in all of us but at the same time deep within us lies a monster which can do acts of evil and so depending on the world around us a side comes out of us which will help us in the ultimate goal of surviving.
Coming from a degenerate and backwards civilization where it was rooted in corruption and lies it was almost a matter of time before it collapsed and fell and the dead ashes of my civilization would join the ranks of other civilizations. I don't believe in any god but I would sometimes find myself praying or begging to myself that ponykind would never descent to chaos but I always remind myself that as long as we are united and in harmony with eachother chaos would never ensue.
I crawled my way into the entrance of the hen house through the filth that fussed with the wooden floor and the odor of unwashed animal skin filled the hen house as if it was a invisible wall. I looked at each little section which held about five chickens each and gave out a sigh of relief when the chickens allowed my hand into their nest to collect their eggs. I crawled more and more into the house until I finally looked through all the sections and prepared to feed the birds by taking out a bag of feed which I had secured on my back.
I would of done some remaking of the chicken house so I could have more freedom in moving about in it but Applejack told me she designed it this way so it was perfect for pony's.. Obviously she didn't have in mind a human from another reality coming into Equestria to work with her and her family but I could make do if it meant making it easier for Applejack.
I finally crawled out of the house and stood straight up again and stretched my back, arms and legs to help them get more flexible. Being able to not have my mind on something is sometimes a blessing and a curse.. Whenever I would do these simple tasks of feeding animals and collecting apples which I knew I was doing because it was my place to help my new community and family but whenever I did them I did them without much thought, sure I was still thinking but the thoughts would flow in and flow out and at times I felt like a robot taking in information and thoughts doing analysis of said information and then deleting it making it a endless cycle.
I pondered a lot and always understood that I will never know much of the total knowledge that is out there but I could always try to learn as much as I could. There will always be a battle between the self that accepts what im doing and is at peace with the world of Equestria and the part of me that was born out of the rubble of human civilization where there had to more and I needed to go out and achieve it. The thoughts I was thinking off quickly disappeared into the back of mind as I noticed I arrived at the barn where pig snorts and sheep baa's reached my ears from inside the barn which was huge and red.
I opened the door slowly and walked down the middle of the farm with the side lines sealed by white fences which contained a wide diversity amount of animals. The lights were dim but were still on probably from Big Mac doing the simple morning chores as the family showered and ate breakfast. The barn had no official flooring but it was smoothed and covered in hay and dirt. I reached the end of the barn and managed to stack three stacks of hay into my hands and started moving back though much slower to the other end of the barn.
The constant chatter of animal talk which reminded me of the irrelevant talk I used to hear back in school from which all came together into mindless nose which I had no interest in but these animals all doing their animal stuff and moving about in their respected areas was.. a lot more calming then the talk that humans always made.
For the next hour I tossed the stacked hay into the sections from which they were needed and then I took the animal food which I still had not learned the name of and fed the pigs and sheep and all the rest of the animals which flocked to it once I poured it out. If I was up for it I would sometimes take some of the food into my hands and would allow a sheep, pig or any other type of non-dangerous animal to come to me and eat from my hand which I also was fun and reminded me of days when I visited the zoo.
After petting a sheep that just finished eating the food off my hands I rubbed the back of it's ears and began heading out of the barn for my next task. After all these years with the apple family and living in Equestria I was now at peace with myself and with those in my new found land, however that never stopped the occasional feelings of nostalgia and remembrance of my past culture which forged me into what I was and how I thought but living in this new land shaped and brought out more from me than my past life ever would have. The sheep eating gracefully from my hand would sometimes bring back memories from years past which I never have thought of for decades but yet here they were all the time waiting to come out resting from the deepest parts of my mind.
I walked calmly back after doing my barns work and walked with purpose across the dirt and hay ridden ground as I walked toward the afternoon sun as it's rays of light beamed into the dim barn as the atmosphere turned from a goldish ending sun to a bright new heaven lighting up the barn. I walked out of the barn and into the eighty degree weather that covered me in humidity like a a blazing hotness from the the Queen Goddess Celesta herself.
I gave a nod of my head to Applejack and Big Mac as they went on their day moving with the purpose and dignity with duty that came from being part of the apple family and the purpose Equestria forged in them which made them realize their higher purposes in life which is what really mattered. I walked in deep thought.. But not comprehension thought, no the thoughts from my subconscious would leak into my aware self only to be pondered and fade back into oblivion.
I walked up the dirt road before exiting the farm and headed down the path to the town that I swore to defend and be at one and peace with.. Ponyville.
It was this small town on the countryside’s of Equestria that gave me refuge and brought out from me a sense of life and purpose from which I could rebuild myself and build a better life for myself and for the ponies around me.
It was time to fetch Applebloom from school, judging from the sun above I could tell it was almost more than halfway down its decent beyond the horizon. Whenever I did not have to help the Mane six with whatever threat thrusts itself upon Equestria this would be the time to meet them.
Rainbow Dash always was the first one to spot me as she was all over Ponyville altering and changing the weather in ten seconds flat which to this day I still found impressive even after being shown how much she was capable of. Whenever I left my home at Sweet Apple Acres she would be the first to notice and start small talk.
I met Fluttershy next mostly due to her Cottage being on the outer edges of the town which always was warm and caring whenever she allowed me in. Her animals were a bit of a pain especially Angel but a lot of them were nice and always welcomed me as part of their own. After saying Hi to Fluttershy as she watered her garden.
I would encounter Pinkie next which almost always never led to a productive conversation as she would be bouncing and jumping about all over me asking me how my day was and other such questions which her fast paste talking made them seem like a endless vomit of words. Before I could respond she would be gone as fast as she came.
Next was rarity which would always complain on the “Horrid” state of my work clothes which she did almost every time but when you have worked with your bare strength and will for the past eight hours you should expect your clothes to get a little bit dirty and stained.
Lastly I met Twilight who lived in the center of town near Mayer Mares house and the school yard where Applebloom was at. I would spend the most time with her as we talked away on various subject matters from my world to her world and everything in between and it would only stop when Spike would bring her back to the task they were doing for that day in the afternoon.
I got Applebloom to jump on my shoulders once I arrived to the school house to pick up her. I was 6 foot tall and due to my sheer height it was almost impossible for her to climb me so I kneeled and let her jump on my shoulders and she held on tight to my neck as I started to walk her home.
We would ask eachother how are day’s went and what she learned in school and in return I would tell her all the adventures that Applejack and I had on the farm it was more or less the same thing every day but it always made the time pass as I walked through Ponyville and back to the path toward Sweet Apple Acres. She always tapped my head like it was a drum as we felt the last of the afternoon winds start to calm down and a mix of cold and warm breezes that swept the lands which was later accompanied by Luna’s night.
By the time me and applebloom finished talking and made our way back to the house the sun had already almost settled into it’s resting place. It gave out a aura of golden light and warmth turning the fading blue sky into a light show of yellow and orange before fading into the light before the light itself was engulfed by the darkness and then it was dark.. Being so far from the town and with barely any light pollution at all I could see the night sky in near perfect detail.
The only natural light that prevented the world of Equestria to plunge to darkness was Luna’s moon and the millions of twinkling stars that poked through the dark void and beyond. There must of been trillions and trillions of stars each harboring their own planets and perhaps even, once in a luna’s blood moon there was a planet that was just like Equestria.. Perhaps one of those stars was my home star from where I came. Perhaps one of those stars harbors my home planet and that small almost invisible speck that looks like it’s going to get enveloped by the all-consuming darkness was the blazing ball of light that rested over my planet Earth all those years ago.. Whom am I kidding im not sure im even In the same universe or reality for that matter but wherever I am I have a community that I am at peace with and I live a life of purpose on this farm and at the end of the day if everything is doing fine then everything is ok.
Applebloom must have been starring with me up at the stars but after noticing I was in lost in thought she jumped off my back and ran into the house where she jumped up and hugged her sister Applejack, Brother Big Mac and Grandma Granny Smith. She hugged me when I went to pick her up after school so I was fine with it.
“Supper’s up everypony come yonder over to the table for some hot soup!” I heard granny smith’s voice and heard my stomach rumbling all the energy I got from eating during lunch melted away with time to the constant work on the barn and walking about all over town.
I walked back into the house and moved toward the kitchen, the kitchen was sparkling and was to a unknown trespasser would be surprisingly clean but I knew who was the mastermind behind the cleaning. Sometimes if I managed to pick up applebloom faster I would make it just in time before the night fell upon the farm.
If I did I would experience heaven itself or at least a physical manifestation of heaven. The windows would bring in the waning golden lights as they fell upon the table. The table would feel like a portal a heavenly like quality and feeling raided off of it. The kitchen would be quiet since the rest of the apple family were just now beginning to finish on the day’s chores. Nothing made a sound but yet the silence of the kitchen spoke itself in a language that I didn’t understand.. yet did. Sometimes a tree would blow in the wind, a bird would fly across the window and then off to a unknown destination, the grass would dance and the distant work of Applejack and Big Mac could silently be heard in the distance but besides those things the room itself didn’t make a sound. Now it was night and the only part of the world that seemed to still be up and alive was this house.. my home. Beyond the walls we could hear the night insects start to sing there song signaling it was now 7:00. We could hear the apple trees move to the breeze and the animals from the barn could if you listened in on their conversation quietly be making their own sounds into the cold night as we were in our home.
I sat down on the same seat that I sat in during the morning breakfast, for being really traditional the apple family did not do a lot of customs that a relatively conservative family on earth would do. For one thing their was no religion at least not any official organized one, Celestia herself was a monarch and was sometimes treated like a goddess, she did have the power to raise and lower the sun after all. However I guess that once you have gods living among you the fascinating and supernatural become the normal and natural..
I wasn't religious anyway so this culture shock wasn't as hard hitting as was living in a land filled with ponies. In response on Sunday's it was usually a break day where we could do whatever we saw fit instead of going to church like a family like this would do Applejack would do something with the mane six, Applebloom was hanged up all day at the tree house doing Celestia knows what in trying to get her cutie mark. I on the days where there wasn't any big official harvest going on would be occupied in Twilight's house reading up on books or occupied in my own study room doing science on a wide range of issues.
The supper Granny Smith cooked up was a mixed stew of vegetables and other organic matter mixed together in a wooden bowl where steam flowed freely up in the air before disappearing. It sat in a pool of water but it tasted so radically different that it might as well be something else. The “Water” had a red coloring and had taste of a flavor that came off a food but without any of the mane textures of the food just its taste. It was still amazing none the less, Everything Granny made especially for Dinner and Breakfast was simply divine.
On a napkin laid neatly next to my bowl was a steaming moderately slice loaf of bread.
The dinner talk was always to me a closing of a hard day's work, everypony told eachother what they did, what problems they solved and what events will be played out in the future. We would share laughs, talks, playful hitting of eachothers shoulder's when we said a joke that got the other recipient embarrassed. Sometimes during my talks of adventures that I had to go through back on Earth and other events that I would recall that happened in Equestria I would forget that the world even exited at all, during these times it was just me and my new family nothing else mattered everything has fallen to place and I couldn't get something any better.
After finishing the last spoon fool of soup I thanked Granny and the rest of my new family for their hospitality and always reminded them that I was eternally grateful for letting me come into their life and become such a big part of it. I hugged everypony and wished them a good night which they offered back at me.
As I moved back toward the stairs and before I started my ascent back to the dreams of the night I looked over toward the basement which lead down stairs toward my laboratory. I contemplated walking down those stairs of discovery but a quick yawn and a sense of drowsiness turned that thought away. 'Perhaps.. this Sunday shall do” I thought as I turned away and headed back upstairs.
As I entered back into my bedroom it looked almost exactly the same as I left it all those hours ago. The pictures of my past still sat still on the their place of rest, The floor still had the creamy look of light chocolate with a slight hint of reflection as the moon's light brought itself through the window and touched the flooring creating a brightened sense of realism to the floor below my shoes. I slipped myself out of my shoes and socks and felt the calm flooring react to my bare feet. Luna's moon replaced where once was The sun, The room was covered in blackness but the moon in its own way gave the room its own bluish aura of light.
The light was almost god like considering there was no light and the atmosphere the light from the moon created a feeling as if I was in the middle of a ceremony of the rising dead. I unbuckled my belt and slid out of my Cargo Pants, and as I did I lifted my work shirt off leaving just me and my boxers. I laid down slowly on my bed before quickly getting under the covers and adjusted myself for my own comfort.
As my consciousness started to fade back into the clutches of Luna's dreams I thought of my new life and family. I always found the uselessness of consumerism and the pointless purest of material possessions but here..
There was much more to my life than waking and doing my part in running the obsolete machine of society. While the day at Sweet Apple Acres sounds repetitive it brings with it a sense of purpose which strangely enough is still hard to pin point. Perhaps it is my friends and sense of community and my new bonds with the Equestrian nation that ultimately made my life worth living.
Perhaps living in a state of existing and constant barrage of degeneracy and uselessness with the world seeming to be against you at every turn made getting sent and then living in Equestria such a god sent gift.
The Apples were my family, Ponyville was my community and Equestria was my nation. Living in harmony with all three brought me to where I am now to a land where anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
Now that I am free it's time to bring about the potential that each pony and human has within them, it is this lesson that I learned while I was working at Sweet Apple acres and living among st a thriving community.
An Average day at Sweet Apples acres makes me realize this and with that thought I let the work of the day wash me to the realm of dreams and wishes..
Healing me for another day at Sweet Apple Acres.
