The days don't end. They just...don't end. I lost track of the days soon enough, they kind of blurred together. I asked my wife today "is it tuesday?" Because I remembered I had an appointment with my Doctor for my knees. They'd been aching bad lately.
She looked at me curiously "no, today's friday". Huh, funny. It seems like the older you get, the less you pay attention to time. It really has a habit of slipping through your hooves doesn't it?
I still remember when ponies still kept track of time. Now we just look to the sky or something. The truth is, most of the time our kids are in school all day, the adults are at the factories, and that's it. There aren't anymore old people. Its kids or adults. With advances in modern medicine and technology, including cell regeneration and DNA therapy, there are no more incurable diseases in the world, there is no more need for cosmetic surgery. And in more than one case, ponies have been brought back from the brink of death.
Maybe it was because of this new breakthrough in technology just after her pupil's death that the Princess passed the laws? I'd heard somewhere that she died of a heart condition so it came as no surprise to me. She probably did it as a way of coping. They were a strange set of laws really.
The Delaware laws. I have no idea where she got the name, but the next thing I knew the T.V man was talking about it.
In other news today, Princess Celestia has managed to pass a bill decreeing the end and outlaw of death within Equestria. Please, tune in tonight at 8:00 sharp for a live interview with the Princess herself. This is Chris Hoofson signing off.

Above all, one is not allowed to die. If thoughts about suicide occur, please see your local physiatrist, failure to comply will result in a two hundred and thirty thousand dollar fine.
If one does go ahead and commit suicide, their relatives are to be punished. Children of the deceased shall be placed in child care services and their spouse will be incarcerated for a minimum of life. In addition, the extended family must pay a one thousand dollar fine every year.
It's funny how the laws don't apply to kids under the age of 10. No one expects them to up and just die. But one did. And that was really a fuss.
It was called the delaware incident. A little pegasus named Bubble Wrap dive jumped off a cloud, but not before writing a letter. And it went a little something like this:
Dear world
I'm tired of it all. So I'm leaving. Don't try to find me. And don't try to look. I'm leaving. That's it.
To my mom and dad. I'm sorry for being a bad little filly. But I can't help it. I can't play with the birdies outside the window and that makes me sad. That makes me so sad that I want to cry. But my teacher won't let me cry so I can't cry. They told me to think and not cry. They told me emotion was bad and that thinking was better.
But I like being happy. And I like being sad. But I don't like being angry. Is it so bad that I like being happy? Because I like being happy. But my teachers say being happy is bad. And I can't do anything about it. They said I should go talk to Mr. Squeaky, the counselor, but he doesn't understand me. Nobody understands me. They think I'm weird. I'm so sorry.
That first part would have made headlines itself, but it was the next part that shocked the world.
Dear everyone
Is it so bad to feel? Is it so bad to cry and to be happy and to be angry and to think? Why can't thinking and feeling co-exist?
As you can imagine, that sparked a new light in the anti-delaware groups. They used that little filly as a pad to blast off. Even taking Celestia to court in the famous case of Ponies Vs. The ruling monarchy.
That last part about feeling? That was a side effect of the treatment. Ponies became depressed after a little while and stopped showing their feelings, the sad fact was that most of them were teachers becoming depressed over the fact that the kids they nurtured just went off to have their imagination sucked out by a factory.
The 'Factories' as they were called were simple cubicle offices. Somewhere along the way, some scientists had found, "the fourth dimension". And apparently, that place had A LOT of energy. The only problem is, the fourth dimension exists on only one form: thought. Thought is the fourth dimension.
I don't know how they did it, but they came up with machines to suck out thought and convert it into energy. From there, all forms of fossil fuels and bio-energy were phased out until the entire nation of Equestria relied on one thing: thought.
And this ties into the Delaware Laws as well. After a period of time, ponies began to stop thinking. They became former husks of themselves. And as you can guess, this prompted a rapid increase in the amount of ponies taking their own lives because they couldn't die naturally.
Well, the suicide labeled "The Delaware Incident" caused rioting and demonstrations all over the nation. Ponies wanted it repealed, ponies wanted free-reign over their own lives. But scientists and scholars came to the defense of the laws, and eventually, this caused a schism between the ponies, and those in power, the scholars, scientists, politicians, and CEOs.
I don't know why, or how really. But sooner or later, the whole country began fighting itself over one little girl.
But I don't really care for any of that, I just want my daughter back.
