I trotted over to the window. It was an extremely dark night outside, with the moon offering most of what little illumination there was. The window was closed, so I unhooked the latch with my magic and swung it open. The cool night air drifted in. I stuck my head out and gazed at the surrounding landscape. I tried my best to hold back the tears, but every time I did my throat would hurt. The tears just kept coming down like a waterfall. I felt alone as if no one loved me. I didn't even know why I was crying. I just was. I hated being alone, but a part of me told me that I needed to be alone. Then when I was alone, I would be sad because I was alone. You see how mess up I was? I knew I should have told celestia, but how can I? I'm a princess, I have all the power that most ponies can only dream of, and I have a sister who loves me and I was depress. I was very selfish then. I was sad when I had no reason to be sad. I laid back down. I tried to sleep, but was unsuccessful. I spent the next two tossing and turning.
"Just go to sleep already, " I thought. I sat up and stared up at the ceiling. "Why do I feel this way?" I asked myself. I laid back down, hoping I could get SOME sleep. After 30 minutes, I gave up. I trotted back to my window, which was still open, and stuck my head out. I felt the cool breeze tickle my coat. It felt nice. I smiled, but I knew it wouldn't last long. Those feeling never last that long.
Then the voice, that same voice slowly crept into my mind. "You're worthless. No ponies cares about you. If you were to die right now,no one would care. They wouldn't even know that you were dead. No one loves you, not even your sister."
"That's not true, "I said out loud as if the voice was another pony. "My sister would never stop loving me and there are ponies who care for me." I turned around and saw a light appeared. It started with a slight shimmer, as if the air in front of me was being warped and twisted. Then, in a flash of pale, silvery light, a pony appeared before me. He was a white cloud like figure and its eyes and mouth were as black as the night sky.
"You keep telling yourself that. But you know that's not true. I mean for a thousand years no one knew who you were. No ponies didn't know that you even exist. Even Twilight and her friends didn't know that Celestia had a younger sister and you can't say that is not true."
"But they know who I am now, "I said.
"Who are you?" The Voice asked (That's what I called him). I was about to answer when I realize I didn't know how to answer the question. "Well......I'm waiting for an answer."
"I'm Princess Luna, " I finally said.
The Voice laughed. "Are you?Or are you Nightmare Moon? I mean do ponies see you as Princess Luna or the Princess that was Nightmare Moon? You are what you have always been: A Nightmare."
"No! I am not a nightmare. You're wrong!" I yelled.
"You're a monster!"
"I AM NOT A MONSTER!" I screamed.
"Calm down, Luna. I am only speaking truth. But I get, it's hard to face the truth and most can't handle it. Like you."
"But what you say isn't true. Just go away. Leave me alone!" I shouted.
"I'm in your head, I can't leave you. I am you."
"If you are me, then I can make you leave. You're dead to me, "I said in a more calmer tone.
"Just like you are to them."
"LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, lightning cracking the sky around me.
"I see that I said too much. I'll leave, but I'll be back." And in just a flash, he was gone.
I fell to the floor and started to cry. Why do feel so empty, so broken? What's wrong with me? I was talking to something that wasn't even real. I was letting myself get hurt by a voice, a made up pony. If it isn't real then why does it hurt me so much? I knew why because it was true. As much as I didn't want to to agree, I knew everything he had said was true. If I did die what would they see? The death of Princess Luna or Nightmare Moon? Would they even care? I knew that I was a pain to my sister. She would be glad that I was gone. She wouldn't have to deal with me anymore. It's not like Equestria would be in danger. Celestia could do my duties. She did it for a 1000 years. She didn't need me then, why would she need me now? I wanted this to end. I had lasted months with the nightmares, the guilt and my fears. I couldn't take it anymore. There had to be a way out. And I knew how................to end this. But I didn't know if I had the guts to do it.
I turned and looked over to the corner of the room hoping the pony(the Voice) wouldn't be there. But he was always lurking in the corners.
He came by and sat next to me.He smiled and said "Do it."
He tormented me all day.
He made me make myself sick.
He made me cry myself to sleep.
He made me have nightmares.
This my friend, my good friend depression.
