Bon-Bon the Guinea Pig
Meanwhile In Manhattan...
Load Full StoryBon-Bon flipped her hair out of her eyes, trying to get comfortable on the couch. The pink-and-blue rolls at the end slumped back before slowly sliding in front of her eyes again. Letting a sigh of aggrivation out, she wrapped her fingers around a white pillow from the other side of the couch and slapped it behind her onto the black arm. She sat up, crossing one leg across the other, looking at her blue jeans and shoes. Continuing the path her eyes were going, she looked at her pink sweater, with an image of three pieces of candy on it. She thought it was cute. Once she was propped up properly, she snatched her book ("Daring Do and the Star of Habrine") off from the glass coffee table, along with two pieces of taffy, and started to read.
I stood there, staring. It was mesmerizing, the giant ball that was crashing down onto Earth. I mean, yeah, it was terrifying, but it was amazing too. I narrowly dodged a small flare of fire before-
CRASH!
She dropped the book, letting it fall to the carpeted floor with a thud, staring at the door. It sounded like an explosion had just went off outside her apartment. She got up, walking around the table. She looked at the window before she put her hand on the door, seeing the beautiful skyline of Manhattan from twenty stories up. Her hand touched the cold metal, and before she could turn it herself, the person on the other end turned it. It swung open, slamming into the wall and Bon-Bon. It felt like somebody had slugged her in the stomach. She slowly started to close the door as she saw who it was, stomping the carpet.
It was, of course, her roommate and friend Lyra. She threw her monochrome guitar onto the black couch, its golden strings gleaming in the sunlight that came from the window above Bon-Bon's previous seat. She wore ripped and faded blue jeans, with a aqua-teal colored T-shirt. Her hair was like toothpaste. To her dismay, Lyra was also wearing one of those stupid horns on her head, also aqua-teal, as well as a little tail, also toothpaste colored. She was pumping her fists into the air, seemingly victorious. This immediately stopped when she saw Bon-Bon's angry glare.
"Hey Bonny, wassup?" she asked, relaxed, flashing a charismatic smile. She grabbed her guitar, leaned it against the wall carefully, and jumped into the couch, making the pillows fly everywhere.
"Lyra..." She slapped the palm of her hand into her face, leaning into it with her other hand on her elbow. "Why are you wearing that stupid stuff again? And aren't a little early?"
"Hey, why the long face, fireplace?" She pulled her off her horn and tail, tossing them on the table. They, of course, missed and fell onto the floor.
"Ugh, I didn't expect you to get here so soon. The Agency was horrible today. And again, why do you wear that stupid 'pony' stuff? Isn't that stuff for little girls?" she asked, going into the door frame across the couch to the kitchen, fetching soda for them both. She noticed that their toaster was missing. She grabbed two cans (they were both Doctor Peppers), tossing one to Lyra. She caught it easily, unlike her throwing skills, and popped the top. She took a long sip, as did Bon-Bon. Lyra's eyes suddenly flashed open while the can was held to her lips.
"Oh, hey Bon, I got this cool new thing!" She slapped the can of soda onto the coffee table, making droplets go all over. Bon-Bon winced, knowing that she'd have to clean it all up. Lyra had already run into the hallway beside the couch, into the first door on the right, which was her room. The second was Bon-Bon's. Lyra's head poked out of the doorway as Bon-Bon stood by the couch, her arms crossed. She tried to look angry.
"C'mon slowpoke, you're taking forever." Bon-Bon gave in, following her to her room. She knew what she'd see, but it still annoyed her to no end.
The whole room was the same toothpastey color, with posters of cartoon horses covering most of the walls. A flat screen television sat on a desk across from a bed with white sheets. Another desk lay across from the door, with a strange machine on it, along with a bunch of hoof-gloves. She immediately knew what was happening.
"Lyra, I'm not doing this stupid waste of time again. I did it last time and you just shocked me with the toaster."
"C'mon, Bonny!" She dragged out the vowels of her words as she spoke. "Besides, it's not my fault that the toaster messed up." She ran over to the desk in a flash, grabbing the device, bringing it back to Bon-Bon. She stared at it, unamused. It looked like a kid's toy, with a bunch of beeping lights. She could see the remains of a toaster within the hunk of metal and glass.
"Okay, so listen, alright? Okay, so this thing is gonna fire a laser at you, and it'll turn you into a pony. Ready?" She immediately got into a firing stance, and Bon-Bon held up her arms in defense.
"No, no, no. I'm not getting a thousand volts shot into me again." She didn't notice, but she was backing up into the corner. This was ridiculous, it was just a toy! Why should I be scared?
"Don't worrrrrry about it, it's gonna be fine." Without waiting for further delays, she started to hold it up to her eye, closing the other. "Okay, just stay still, or you may get fused into the wall."
"Bah, quit it, Lyra!" she exclaimed, trying to slap the gun out of her hand. She wasn't close enough.
"Brace yourself, roomie!" she screamed, her finger tightening on the trigger. A small LED light started going up on the gun, getting red in a single second. Once it did, several things happened at once.
A large, blue blast exploded from the end of the gun, covering Bon-Bon. Lyra was slammed backwards, flying into the doorway, making a hole the shape of her legs on the wall. Bon-Bon was encircled into a sphere of glowing electricity until she was completely invisible, only a floating blue ball. Lyra recovered herself quickly, her jaw dropping before pumping her fists into the air, cackling like a mad scientist.
"It worked!" she squealed as the ball started melting into the wall. It slowly dissipated, turning into a thick fog. It slowly whooshed out of the room, sliding across the ceiling. Tendrils of smoke reached out from the doorway. Lyra started waving her arms, trying to get the fog away.
It started to go into the whole apartment, slowly going away. Lyra squealed in delight at what she saw in the doorway.
Bon-Bon, but not Bon-Bon at the same time, stepped out, glaring at her. She stood on all fours, with flat stumps instead of hands and feet. A tail protruded from her end, and a three pieces of candy were put into the side of her hip. She was covered in yellow fur, and her hair reached all the way down her neck, but that wasn't the weirdest part. She had a muzzle.
"Lyra, what did you do?" she asked, her voice cracking mid-way. In response, Lyra tackled her, squeezing her in what she guessed was a hug.
"You're so cute!" She squeezed harder, and Bon-Bon's face started to turn reddish.
"You're choking me."
Lyra quickly stepped back, running back inside her room. She opened a drawer, and Bon-Bon noticed that she was considerably taller than before. Or am I just shorter, she thought. Lyra returned with a mirror.
"Check it out!" She held it up to Bon-Bon's face, and she nearly passed out. She stared back at something from Lyra's posters.
"What did you do to me!?" she screamed, galloping to the bathroom. Lyra heard water running, then a scream, and she giggled uncontrollably. Bon-Bon quickly reappeared in the hallway, charging at Lyra, snarling. Her head crashed into her stomach, but she was on a happiness high, still laughing, a silly looking grin on her face.
"You're a pony!" She bursted out into more laughter, falling onto the floor, partially because of the aching pain in her abdomen. She kept laughing and laughing until she got an idea. She pushed Bon-Bon off of her and ran into her room, looking for the gun again.
"Yeah, you better change me back!" she screamed out, having the wrong impression to what Lyra was doing. The light had finally went out in her room, so it was much dimmer. Lyra scrambled around the room until she found her device under a pile of fallen pictures. She held it up to her head, a wicked grin on her face. Her hair covered one eye, making her look like an insane criminal about to murder someone. "Lyra-!"
Before she could finish, a burst of light protruded from the gun, exploding the whole room. Bon-Bon had to narrow her eyes because of the blinding light, but she saw Lyra go through the wall, crashing through another person's apartment. Splinters were flying everywhere.
"Lyra!" She galloped over, jumping through the hole in the wall, wood scraping her barrel. She saw a broken window across from her, and immediately started having horrifying images run through her head. Images of Lyra falling down onto the streets, from a twenty story building, splattering into the concrete, people jumping and staring and-
"I'm... Okay..." A blue horse started to stumble across the room from the other side before crashing into the carpet, going cold. Bon-Bon couldn't believe her eyes. Her friend, a horse! She quickly ran back through the hole, jumping, searching for the gun. She could try to change them both back if she found it.
She moved her hooves across all of the trash on the floor. She saw a small glow coming from under a cracked television. She quickly slid her hoof across the pile, throwing it all against a wall. The TV shattered into a million pieces. She stared, her mouth wide, at what she saw.
There was half of a toaster, with wires splattered everywhere like entrails. Next to this was the end of the gun, which had completely broken into several pieces. She simply looked at these two items for a moment before swinging her head back, crying out a single word.
"LYYYYYYYYYYYYRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
