A New Era?

This story starts as it should. A nice, sunny day in Canterlot. The posh stallions and mares were walking down the streets not knowing that soon, everything would be entirely different. Approaching the Canterlot Palace was a middle-aged alicorn stallion. Yet, he was different than most alicorns. He was light blue in color except for his horn, which was a solid red that slowly blended into his blue coloring and, his wings weren’t like normal alicorn wings, being closer to that of a normal pegasus. He also had turquoise eyes and a relatively short tail and mane, of which were dark brown in color. With him were about 5 pegasi, each wearing a set of glowing grey armor.

“Halt!” The guards said in unison while blocking the gate. “Who goes there?”

The stallion, Moonbeam, replied to the guards, “I am Moonbeam. A foreigner from Austalia. I seek an audience with your Princess.”

The guards glanced at him and his pegasi surrounding him and one of them said, “We don’t allow random ponies into the palace. Security and all.”

Moonbeam’s face grew a devious smile as his horn glowed a red aura.

“Oh really?” He asked rhetorically. “I believe you will let me in.”

As he said that, the guards starting glowing as well as he casted a manipulation spell. Then, they moved out of the way allowing him and his brigade of pegasi inside the palace.

While Moonbeam was walking around the palace and took out almost the rest of the guards, he saw the doors to the throne room.

“I’d better go at it easily…” He said quietly as he opened the doors.

There Princess Celestia sat going over some paperwork. Although she was interrupted by Moonbeam’s unexpected entry.

“Who are you?” She questioned, not knowing who he was and what he was doing there.

Moonbeam almost immediately levitated her leaving her defenseless and surprised.

“Battalion! Chain her up and put the magic drain on her now! I don’t know how much longer I can keep this up!” He ordered to half his group of pegasi.

“Yes, sir!” They replied in unison, chaining her up and putting a magic draining device on her horn.

Moonbeam took deeper breaths as he released his levitation of her.

“I, am Moonbeam!” He said as he grinned evil-like at Celestia.

Princess Celestia just looked at him half annoyed and half confused.

“That answers my first question. Yet, why are you doing this?” She said getting weaker as her power was being sapped by the device. She would’ve yelled but she figured that if he got in he would’ve detained the guards.

Moonbeam looked at her and said, “I’m doing this because in the 6 months I’ve been here. I’ve decided it’s time for a new ruler. We need a normal pony in the leadership position.”

Princess Celestia just gave a deadpan glance at him. “I’d hardly call you a ‘normal pony’,” She says.

Now, about that time in Princess Luna's chambers she was resting, preparing energy for her nightly work. However, 3 of Moonbeam's pegasi suddenly kicked open the doors. Surprised, she fired off a paralysis spell. However, it was absorbed by the armor, making it's glow stronger and, seemingly making the pegasi stronger. They grabbed a chain and magic draining device and put the device on her horn slowly leeching her power. Afterwards chaining her up.

Back at the throne room...

Moonbeam glances at his wings and touches his horn and says, “I’ll have you know that even though I look like a alicorn, I am a pegasus.” He says. “My ‘horn’ is an Artificial Internal Magic Manipulation Device. My father made it. He was more of the scientist type; intent on making non unicorns as powerful as the unicorns throughout the world. In case you didn’t notice, there are small controls on each device to strengthen or weaken its ability as necessary. So therefore I am a normal pegasus.”

Just as he was about to continue on, the other half of his pegasus group came back in with Princess Luna still chained and drained.  She was also apparently gagged while they brought her there, making it impossible for her to speak.

“Ah, you got Princess Luna.” Moonbeam said pleased with the 3 other pegasi. “So princesses, your time has come to give up your position, It’s time for Prince Moonbeam to take over.” He turned to his group of 5 pegasi. “Take these alicorns and throw them in the dungeon! I will decide their fates later!” Then, he looked over to the stained glass windows and saw the mane 6 in a window. “Hmm, now what’s this? Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity and, Rainbow Dash. I’ll need to look into them. Yet, right now time to make my first edict.”

He took out a scroll and wrote, ‘I, your new Prince, Prince Moonbeam has taken notice of the extreme power unicorns can possess. In fact, I say these unicorn horns are the cause of the problems we have. I mean, Nightmare Moon, had a magical unicorn horn. Discord, didn’t have a magical unicorn horn but had magical powers. Queen Chrysalis, had a magical not unicorn horn.  King Sombra, was a unicorn so had a unicorn horn. Tirek, wasn’t a unicorn specifically but had his own magical horns. Finally, Starlight Glimmer, a unicorn who had way too much power. Now before you say I’m being hypocritical, my ‘horn’ is a mechanical device, I can control the device to limit my power, so I am technically a magically enhanced pegasus. So as of this moment, I decree, that all unicorns have their magic drained or, their horns removed by 13:20. If they don’t, they will be hunted down and annihilated.’

He looked up and said, “What if this isn’t- No. This is for the peace of Equestria.”
