It's no fun when Rainbow Dash is bored. Trust me: I've had a firsthoof experience.
'Ugh...' thought Rainbow Dash, 'I'm so bored! Twilight went to the Crystal Empire to visit her brother, Princess Cadence and Flurryheart, Applejack has to work, Pinkie Pie is helping Fluttershy prepare a birthday part for Angel Bunny, Rarity went gem hunting with Spike, and Starlight is reading a ton of boring egghead books!'
She looked down on Ponyville from her cloud to see if there was anypony not doing anything so she could have fun. All Rainbow could see were ponies working or doing something else that was boring.
'Why is everypony so busy?' she thought.
"La la la!" heard Rainbow, "Just relaxing!"
Rainbow looked around and saw a brown unicorn. She had a green mane with brown stripes in it and some sort of orange horn.
'Perfect!' thought Rainbow, 'Somepony not doing anything!'
She dove off of her cloud and landed in front of the unicorn.
"Whoa!" when the unicorn in surprise.
"Hey there!" said Rainbow, "What's you're name?"
"Um, my name is Razor Blade."
"Why do you have an orange horn?"
"I'm not quite sure, it's just been there since I got my cutie mark."
"Wait, so you haven't always been a unicorn?"
"I like to call myself a unicron."
"That's awesome!" said Rainbow Dash, "Do you wanna hang out? All of friends are doing boring stuff."
"Uh, sure. I guess so." said Razor nervously, "What do you want to do?"
Rainbow grinned, "I have just the thing!"
"Rainbow, I think this is a really bad idea!" said Razor, "Maybe we should do something else!"
"No way!" said Rainbow, "This gonna be awesome!"
"Are you sure it's safe to do a Sonic Rainboom while I'm on you're back? I've never flown that fast before!"
"Of course it's saf- Wait, did you say you've flown before?"
"Yeah. My horn sometimes changes into a pair of wings..."
"That's awesome!!!" said Rainbow, "Now, you might want to hold on tight!"
Razor wrapped her hooves around Rainbow so she wouldn't fall off.
'Why didn't I just say I was busy?' she thought.
Rainbow flew up higher and then switched into a diving position.
"Here we go!"
Rainbow dove towards the ground super fast.
"Rainbow!" said Razor in a panicked voice, "This is a really bad idea!"
"Why wold you say that?" asked Rainbow.
"I have no control over my magic and it does super random things! Like right now, my horn's lighting up and I don't know what it's going to do!"
"That would be awesome!" yelled Rainbow.
Rainbow accelerated to maximum speed and turned up from her dive, resulting in a Sonic Rainboom.
"This is terrifying!" Razor yelled.
"This is awesome!" Rainbow yelled.
"How do you stop?"
"I run out of speed!"
"What if you don't?"
"How would that be possible?"
"Magic!"
Rainbow glanced back and saw that Razor's horn was lit up, and realized that she wasn't losing any speed.
"Hold on tight!" she yelled to Razor, "I can't steer anymore!"
Razor gripped tighter onto Rainbow with her hooves as Rainbow flew uncontrollably.
"I'm so glad that we could have a peaceful and normal day of activities!" said Shining Armour.
"Yes, it is very nice to not have to worry about the world ending!" said Princess Cadence.
"Tell me about it!" said Twilight Sparkle.
The three of them laughed as they walked though the Crystal Empire.
"Everypony, look!" called a Crystal pony, "There's something in the sky!"
Everypony that heard the call looked up into the sky and saw a orangey-rainbow blur whizzing around.
"What is that?" asked Cadence.
"It looks like Rainbow Dash going super fast!" said Twilight, "We need to see what's wrong!'
She and Cadence took off into the sky towards Rainbow (and Razor, though they didn't know it).
"Okay, maybe you were right about this being a bad idea!" said Rainbow to Razor, "But this is really cool!"
"Who's that?" asked Razor as Twilight and Cadence approached.
"I think it's Twilight and Princess Cadence! We flew all the way to the Crystal Empire?"
"Rainbow! What are you doing?" called Twilight.
"Flying uncontrollably at an uncontrollable speed! Isn't that obvious?"
"But how?" asked Cadence.
"That would be my fault!" said Razor, "Well, technically my horn's fault!"
"Wait, Rainbow is someone with you?"
"Yeah! Her name's Razor Blade! And-"
But Rainbow cut off as Razor suddenly fell off of her and went skyrocketing. Rainbow immediate;y slowed down to a normal speed and regained control.
"Phew! I thought that I would be flying like that forever! Wait, where's Razor?"
"I think she let go of you!" said Twilight in a panicked voice, "She went flying upward from all the momentum!"
"What?" said Rainbow, "Can't you guys find her before she starts falling back down?"
"I can't see anything because the sun's too bright!" said Cadence.
"If she falls from this height with all that added height, she's sure to take some serious damage!" said Twilight.
"I have never taken any real damage!" yelled Razor as she fell back down.
Twilight quickly activated her magic so she could levitate Razor and stop her from falling.
"Did you get her?" asked Cadence nervously.
"I don't know!" said Twilight.
"You didn't," came a reply from below them, "But I'm fine!"
"What in Equestria do you mean that you're fine?" asked Twilight.
Razor suddenly appeared on Rainbow's back.
"Magic does have some advantages."
"What th-?" asked a shocked Rainbow.
"Maybe we should talk about what happened in the castle instead of in the air." suggested Cadence.
"That would probably be a good idea." said Twilight.
It was the next day and Twilight Sparkle had invited Razor Blade over to her castle.
"It was really nice of you to invite me over, Twilight!" said Razor.
"It's my pleasure!"
Twilight had prepared a small luncheon, and the two started eating.
"Can you tell me a bit about when you were younger?" asked Twilight at one point.
Razor gave a sigh, and started, "I was born second in my family. My older brother was a unicorn like my mother and my younger sister was a pegasus like my father. My parents were a bit disappointed that I wasn't a unicorn or a pegasus, but they didn't mind so much. My siblings didn't mind either.
"Most of my classmates teased me about being an Earth pony when my parents weren't, but they never bothered me. I had my friends."
"Who were your friends?"
"Well, you could say that me and my friends were, and we still are, different from the other ponies. My first friend was my brother, his name is Cream Swirl. He has a turquoise coat and a black mane. He also has purple eyes and his magic is also purple. He was always kind and helpful, though he could be a bit too honest at points.
"My sister became my second friend as soon as she was born, her name is Blossom Branch. She has a light-brown coat and a pink mane. She looks up to me and always goes to me for guidance.
"My best friend is Rapid Violet. She's a purple Earth pony with an orange and green mane. She has a yellow tint around her mouth. Violet was always up to anything. One time, she thought that it was a good idea to mess with my mom's spare set of healing potions!"
"How did that turn out?" asked Twilight nervously.
"It just caused a reaction with two of my other friends wings. One of them was Blast Bang. She's yellow with a yellow and blue mane. Her wings turned into butterfly wings somehow, and they've been that way ever since."
"What?" Twilight sounded appalled.
"She got used to them!"
"And your other friends?"
"Yeah, Red Raven. She has a red coat and a blue and white mane. Somehow, she got dragon wings! She says that they're better than normal wings because she can easily get dragon scales for her potions."
"Is that all of your friends?"
"Yep! They're all still my friends to this very day!"
Twilight paused to think.
"And your friends all know about your horn?'
"Of course they do!"
"Do you think that we could visit them and ask them about your magic?"
"Sure, I guess so!"
"My brother runs a small restaurant in Hoof City, and Violet also lives nearby, so they should be easy to find. My sister is a botanist in Cloudstale, she keeps cherry trees." said Razor, "Blast preforms in concerts across Equestria, so we just need to find one of the fliers that say where she'll be next."
"What about your friend Raven?" asked Twilight.
"She just turns up in random places, they're usually where I am."
Twilight just gave Razor a nod and faced out the train window.
'Princess Celestia needs to know as much as possible about this mare! Her magic might be dangerous! But, it could also be helpful...' though Twilight.
"We have arrived in Hoof City!" called the conductor, breaking Twilight's thoughts.
"So," said Twilight as they exited the train, "Where is your brother's restaurant?"
"Just follow me!"
Razor walked towards a small, but nice looking, restaurant. It currently had a sign on it that said "Closed" Razor walked right up and knocked on the door four times.
"Hey, Cream! Are you there? It's me: Razor!" she shouted.
The door opened and Cream Swirl was standing there.
"Hey there sis!" he said with a small smile, "What are you doing here?"
"Princess Twilight said she wanted to meet my friends, so we came to visit you, bro!"
Cream glanced around Razor and saw Twilight.
"Um, hello Princess?" he asked.
"No need to call me Princess!" said Twilight, "I just wanted to learn more about your sister's magic."
"Sure! Why don't you come in?"
The three of them walked into the restaurant and sat down at one of the tables.
"I'll be back in just a second!" said Cream as he walked into the kitchen.
Twilight cocked her head, "What is Cream Swirl doing?" she asked.
"He probably went to get some food. He got his cutie mark in cooking and baking."
Cream walked back out of the kitchen, levitating three plates with some delicious looking cake on it.
"I thought that we should have some food." he said, before sitting down and placing the plates in front of each pony.
"Thanks, bro!" said Razor.
"No prob."
Twilight noticed that the two spoke in a brother-sister way like she and her brother did.
"So, you wanted to ask about Razor's magic?" asked Cream.
"Yes," said Twilight, "I was just wondering what kinds of magic you've seen her do, besides the normal things that unicorns can do."
Cream didn't even hesitate before he started listing off examples.
"I've seen Razor do levitation, heating spells, transformations of objects, beams, magic shields, teleportation and freezing spells."
"You forgot when I made your stove explode." said Razor casually.
"And explosions."
Twilight stared in shock for a minute.
"You can do all that?" she asked.
"Well, the only one of those that was intentional was the levitation."
Twilight blinked and thought, 'This is going to be way more complex than I thought!'
"Do you need something to write all that down on to?" asked Cream, "I have some paper you could use."
"That's okay. I brought a notebook." said Twilight, masking her surprise.
Twilight quickly wrote down what Cream had said.
"Is that all?" she asked.
"That's all I can think-" started Cream, when a pony came barreling through the window and crashed into him.
"Sorry, Cream!" said the pony, "Me and Raven were making a potion when it exploded! It was cool!"
The pony stood up and helped up Cream.
"Oh, hi Razor! Didn't expect to see you here!"
"I didn't expect to see you here either, Blast!" Razor turned towards Twilight, "This is my friends Blast Bang. I told you about her earlier."
Blast blinked and then asked, "Are you a Princess? 'Cause your an alicorn."
"Yes, I am a princess." said Twilight, surprised that Blast's butterfly wings had taken no damage.
"Wait, did you say Raven was here?" asked Razor to Blast.
"Yeah, why?"
"Twilight wants to learn more about my magic and wanted to ask you guys about it! Now she can ask both you and Raven!"
"Did somepony call me?" said a voice from outside.
Red Raven flew in through the smashed window. Her wings were well-kept and she reminded Twilight of Zecora.
"Hi, Raven!" said Razor and Cream.
Razor explained why Twilight was with her to Raven while Cream cleaned up the broken glass.
"Okay. Do you want me to start, or Blast?" she asked.
"Either one of you is fine." said Twilight.
"I'll start!" said Blast, "I've seen Razor do explosions, rays, conjuring, manipulating, and deteriorating!"
Twilight scribbled down more notes.
"Razor has also done duplication, growing, shrinking, and time reversal." said Raven.
Twilight wrote all of this down as well, completely shocked by what she could do.
"You can do quite a bit of magic!" she said to Razor.
"Really? I don't pay attention to what magic I even do half the time!" she said.
Twilight thought about what Razor had said while the four friends talked among each other.
CRASH!
Twilight's thoughts (and the conversation between the others) were interrupted when a pegasus came flying in through the broken window and crashed into Cream (again).
"Sorry, clipped my wing on a tree when I was flying in!" said the pegasus, "Did I hit Cream again?"
The three other ponies rolled their eyes.
"No, you hit Raven." said Razor, "Or course you hit him, Blossom!"
The pegasus flew into the air and landed next to Razor.
"This seems cliche..." muttered Razor before turning to Twilight, "This is my sister, Blossom Branch."
Razor again explained what she and Twilight were doing, this time to Blossom.
"Can you think of any spells or magic I've done?" asked Twilight, she rattled off what she already had on her list and looked up at Blossom.
"I can't think of anything you've already listed! Except maybe making it snow. And rain."
Twilight jotted down the two things that Blossom had said.
"Guys, we'd better get going." said Razor.
"Okay..." said Blossom.
"See you later!" said the others
"Thank you!" said Twilight as they left.
"Do you want to go to Violet's now?"
"Sure." Twilight paused before asking Razor a question, "Why wasn't your brother mad when his window broke?"
"It gets broken at least twice a week."
Twilight nodded, shocked by how casual this kind of thing was in Razor's life.
"Violet's house is right there!" said Razor, pointing at a purple house with a dark yellow roof.
As Razor walked up to knock on the door, her horn lit up and ended up blasting the door down.
"Oops!" she said.
"I'm going to assume that it's you, Razor." said a voice from inside.
"Hi, Violet!" said Razor, "Can we come in?"
"Sure. But whose with you?"
Razor walked into the house with Twilight in her wake. She started explaining (yet again) why she and Twilight were there. While Razor was talking, Twilight looked around Violet's house. There were lots of medals and trophies everywhere, mostly for running related things. Twilight noticed that the pony had a shooting star for a cutie mark, not what she was expecting.
'Maybe her cutie mark is a star because she runs fast? That would make sense.'
"You want to know what kind of magic I've seen Razor do?" asked Violet.
"Yes, here's a list of what we've heard so far." Twilight gave Violet the list so she could look it over quickly.
"Pssh!" said Violet, "I have some things that definitely aren't on your list!"
"What?" asked Twilight with curiosity.
"Razor can levitate herself and other ponies, she can walk on clouds, and-" Violet paused before continuing, "By the way, I'm telling the whole truth when I say this."
Twilight was doing everything in her power to stop herself from yelling, "What is it?"
"She uses the magic of other ponies, and I've seen her horn change into a pair of wings on her back. They're the same color as her horn."
Twilight dropped her notebook.
"Hi, Sharp!"
"Hello, Violet!"
"How's your 'little' garden?"
"It's coming along pretty nicely! Had some trouble with some weeds, though."
"That explains all the dirt smudges..."
"How's racing?"
"It's really fun! I'm such a fast runner!"
"Well, duh! Your cutie mark basically says that you're as fast as a shooting star!"
"I see that you still don't have yours,"
"I don't really care. It doesn't seem that important to me,"
"Really? Your brother and sister always thought that it was important!"
"That was them, this is me. I don't really care as long as I'm living a good life,"
"That is so corny!"
"Guys! Guys!"
"What is it, Blossom?"
"There's a huge storm coming in from somewhere! It wasn't planned, so it could be dangerous!"
"So we should get to cover?"
"Yeah! I'm going to help the weather team!"
"I'll tell as many ponies as I can!"
"Are you sure? It could be dangerous, Razor!"
"Just get to safety! You too, Blossom! You're not part of the weather team!"
"But-"
"Go!"
I watched as the two of them ran for cover. I ran around, telling ponies to get to cover, that a storm was coming, that it could be dangerous.
"Sharp! You need to get to safety yourself!"
"It's more important to help other ponies, Blast!"
I ran around town, helping everypony I could possibly help.
"Sharp! Look out!"
My brother levitated me out of the way of a passing bolt of lightning.
"Cream! Get to safety!"
"Speak for yourself!"
He ran off towards the nearest shelter.
"Sharp, could you help me?"
I ran over to Raven and helped her cart her potion set to the shelter.
"Sharp, you really should stay here..."
"I need to make sure that everypony is safe!"
I ran back out into the storm and helped direct any stragglers towards the shelters. I was the only pony not in a shelter, so I ran towards the nearest one as fast as I could. It was hard because of the thunder, rain and lightning.
'I hope the other ponies are all safe!'
A huge clap of thunder shook the ground, and sent me flying away from the shelter.
'Got to get to the shelter!'
"Sharp! Where are you?"
"Violet, go to the shelter!"
"Not without you!"
I saw an orange bolt of lightning zooming towards Violet. I tried to call out to her, but the wind was too loud. I only had one option.
The lept towards Violet and knocked out of the way. The lightning bolt hit my side and I fell on to the ground.
"Sharp!"
I heard Violet's yells as I became more and more woozy.
'It looks like the storms is vanishing...'
"Guys! Sharp needs help! Now!"
"What happened?"
The voices of my friends became farther and farther away.
"She got hit by lightning?"
"Magic lightning?"
"Sharp! Are you okay?"
"I'm sorry, Sharp!"
"Sharp? Can you hear us? Sharp Grass!"
Their voices became indistinguishable as I blacked out.
