//-------------------------------------------------------// Adrian -by Delta Asada- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Awakening //-------------------------------------------------------// The Awakening Throughout life there is this misconception that you have to work to be successful. To do as you’re told so that you can make it far in life. But what people don't realize is that their reality isn't reality at all is a set code of number already planned out for you. Reality isn’t real. There are things going on behind the scenes that we can't see. All your accomplishments and achievements were all for nothing. But there is a reason for this. To preserve the last of humanity. To rescue us from our doomed existence. We decided that to accomplish this we would put ourselves in a comatose state until the time arrived that our planet would be habitable again. This was over three hundred thousand years ago. Now the time has finally come to take back the planet. To take it back from the crippling disease that once plagued the earth. The disease would cripple your nervous system leaving you to the mercy of anything that decided to ponder upon you at the time. This is why we did it, this is why humanity decided to sacrifice themselves. Throwing themselves into the unknown darkness not knowing what they were going to find on the other side. The left millions dead behind for the better good of the human race. The only problem is that any and all research they had on the virus is either corrupt or inaccessible. Through the hundreds of thousands of years computers died and deteriorated, any paper documents no longer existed as the fragile paper that they were written on have long since disintegrated into nothingness. And all this brings me to an individual a young woman by the name of adrian. She will be the first to be released from her “dreams” and into the unknown that is now our once called home. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Beep….Beep….Beep a steady drone intermittently sounded through the pitch black room. A dim light shone through the dark dark room, a beacon calling out for a soul who was no longer there. The light itself was a monitor, one that had been able to stand the test of time and was still able to watch over the single soul it was assigned to watch. The light flashed on and off as a low voice started to talk. A woman’s voice bleak and monotone “Warning stasis deteriorating, virtualization deteriorating, core at 1 percent power, critical failure. Returning user in fifteen…..fourteen…...thirteen…..twelve….” The voice counted down slowly, second by second coming closer to zero. When it finally reached zero the room was met with pitch black. The beacon of light no longer there, and silence. A deafening silence that would make the sound of a cat landing on its feet sound like a thousand storms above a rickety old house. A loud hiss sounded through the silence, breaking it with the force of a war hammer through glass. Slowly dim lights lit up the room driving away the suffocating darkness. A cloud of lingering steam was able to be seen in the corner of the room. Slowly the steam faded revealing an open door. Though the door, a young woman could be seen frail and pale. Long crimson hair flowed down her thin frame covering her from her head down to her toes. Her body lurch forward and onto the floor, coughing and wheezing she convulsed on the floor as her body was returned to the real world. Slowly the coughing and wheezing calmed to a heavy breathing. She laid there for a moment catching her breath, and finally her head began to rise. Slowly she looked up revealing a pair of beautiful golden eyes. Gathering herself she slowly got onto her hands and knees shaking but steadily she stayed there making sure that she was able to support herself. With a pained breath she shifted onto one knee, releasing herself from the support of her hands, she was able to hold herself up. Through squinting eyes she took a look around the room. A table stood in the middle of the room various items could be seen on it but she wasn’t able to make out any of the objects. Through her blurred vision she was able to make out what looked like a bed on the other side of the room. She took note of this, but what she really needed to do right now was figure out where she was. With her limited strength she proceeded to try her luck at getting onto her feet. Looking to her left she saw a lone chair. Seeing it as a great source of support she was able to grab it and pull it towards her without to much struggle. Now that she had a fairly steady source of support she set her hands upon the seat of the chair. Taking a deep breath she shakily pulled herself into a crouch, her thin legs shaking beneath her as she use the combined strength of her arms and legs to get herself into a standing position. She stood, unsteadily and dizzily she had moved her hand to the back of the chair to help hold herself up. Breathing heavily from the strain she looked up again, her golden eyes gazing across the room. From what she could make out she seemed to be in lab of some sorts. Releasing her hand from the chair she stood up straight albeit shaky. Across the room she saw some lockers, taking a deep breath she took a tentative step forward, carefully she put her weight onto her left foot checking to see if her leg would support her, and it did. Now sure that she is able to walk, though slowly, she made her way towards the locker. The room was cold and she needed to find something to help keep her warm. She opened the lockers hoping for clothes of some kind. She sighed and smiled once she saw it, a neatly folded pile of clothes sat there. “Thank god at least something has gone right” Leaning down she took up the clothes and with them tucked under her right arm, standing back up she turned and headed back towards the table. Setting them down she laid out the clothes. Seeing them, she again smiled. A pair of sweats with and a long sleeve shirt, the sweats were a dark blue with a black strip running down the right leg. The shirt itself was nothing special only a plain black that seemed to be make of a polyester like material. She quickly put the clothes on struggling with the pants as she was still weak. The fact that she was able to walk in itself was a miracle, let alone be able to balance enough to put on the pants. But she had succeeded in her task. She stood up from her hunched over position and looked around again taking a look around the room. Along the far wall was a set of doors, slowly making her over, she reached for the handle and turned it gently pushing the door open. A dark hallway lay out in front of her with dim blinking red light trailing down the hallway. She closed the door, deciding that she would explore later rather than sooner since she didn’t quite know what was out there. Turning she immediately spotted another locker this one much larger than the last. Walking over to it trails of thought crossed her mind. ‘Where am I’ ‘Where is everyone’ Similar thoughts ran through her mind as she reached the locker. Pulling the locker open she smiled, something familiar. A roughed up and rather dusty rifle stood propped up against the locker wall along with what seemed to be a couple full mags of ammunition laying on the bottom of the locker. Deftly picking up rifle she quickly inspected it. It was slightly rusted but still seemed to be in working order, she would eventually have to clean it but that would come later once she reached the surface. Chuckling to herself she put the rifle over her shoulder using the weapons strap. Looking into the locker again she saw a couple more items, a P226 and a combat harness. Taking her newly acquired rifle she set it up against the side of the locker and took the combat harness , putting it on with practiced hands. Quickly putting on the harness. With some struggle with the straps having to adjust it to her thin frame. Next was the M9. Taking the pistol she strapped it into the holster on her right side and again slung the rifle onto her back. Looking down she saw a couple of clips for “her pistol” taking them up she put them in the appropriate pouches. She new that she had to explore the area in search of supplies, especially water. Water she knew was essential for living. That was her goal. So with a mission in mind she again made her way towards the door, she undid the strap holding her pistol and too said weapon into her left hand. Taking a deep breath she slowly opened the door and took a step out clearing first to the left and then to the right, satisfied that the hallway was clear. The hallway lit up with fluorescent lights. Now being able to see she saw that there were doors lining the hallway. At the end of the hallway a stairwell led up into somewhere unknown. Taking a deep breath she held her pistol out in front of her in a firm grip in a lowered position and started down the hall. Scanning left and right she made her way down the hallway. Coming up on the first door she pressed herself up on against the wall and stood next to the door. Taking a deep breath she reached out and took ahold of the handle and turned, pushing the door in with a light push. She rushed in clearing her left and right with her pistol. Seeing no one she lowered her pistol and entered fully into the room it was a bedroom, a really dusty bedroom. The room itself was pretty plain. Just a bed and a desk. Both were bare and had nothing on them. The desk had a few drawers but upon inspection she found that they were empty. Sighing she closed the drawers and left the room. Moving to the next room she opened the door and again found nothing inside. Shaking her head she decided that this was a dorm hallway. Assuming that all the other rooms are the same she skipped them and moved down to the end of the hall. Seeing the stairs she stopped and took a deep breath. She wasn’t sure of what she would find later on. Deciding against it she decided that she would sleep on the decision and make the decision when she woke up. Sighing she made her way to the room she had originally emerged from and walked in. Setting her weapons next to the bed she then took off her battle harness and setting that next to her weapons she practically fell onto the bed and pulled the old covers over her thin frame. "I'm going to have a hell of a time trying to figure out what the fuck is going on” she said quietly to herself. And after a few moments her eyes slowly closed and the emptiness of sleep took over her as she slipped into the black abyss of unconsciousness. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Celestia sat upon her throne, staring blankly down at the noble who was going on about his land being intruded on by a lower class pony. She sighed and waved a hoof out in front of her silencing the noble. “That is enough Coin.” The noble stopped speaking and looked at the princess with a dumbfounded look. “I have heard you and I have decided that I will think on this, please return tomorrow and then I will have the decision made” The noble bowed, turned, and walked out the door. As the door closed behind him Celestia stood and started walking towards the door. “Guards I'm taking the rest of the day” A guard nodded and opened the door “Of course princess” Both guards opened the door and bowed as the princess exited the room and headed to her private quarters. Taking a deep breath as she walked she shook her head. She was getting tired of all these pathetic complaints. ‘These nobles need to grow up and stop being foals.’ she thought to herself. She took a deep breath and exhaled trying not to think on it too much as she doesn't need the stress. As she approached the door to her private quarters the guards posted outside bowed, their horns lit up and their combined glow engulfed the door opening it. Celestia walked through and used her magic to take her crown off of her head as the large doors closed behind her. She set the crown down on her bedside table and walked over the balcony. Taking a seat on the balcony she looked out over her land smiling upon the thriving country that she had nurtured and guarded in her thousands of years as princess. Taking a deep breath she closed her eyes and let her magic flow through the land feeling each and every aura of the ponies that resided within her kingdom. A smile crossed her face as she felt that was everything was alright. She continued on for a few moments, then her smile faded. She sensed chaos, and quite a bit of it. Focusing her magic on the trace of chaos she strained to get a lock on it, as if it sensed her activity. Straining even harder she pushed more of her magic towards it. And finally she was able to pinpoint the origin, her eyes immediately snapped open and she galloped out of her quarters and towards her sister room. Panic started to rise in the sun princesses chest. The last time that she had sensed this chaos whas over 4000 years ago. When discord banished them. 'There is no plausible way they can be back. Can they?' she asked herself as she rounded the corner that led to the spiral staircase up to Luna's privae quaters. quickly making her way up them. As quick as she could she made it to her sisters room. She stood there panting taking time to catch her breath, she wasnt sure if she wanted to wake her sister and ask her for help, but she also wanted to include her sister. Luna had only just gotten back from the moon, she was still a little distant but she wanted to include her sister, she wanted to make her sister feel included again. shaking her head she quietly used her magic and opened the door. Expecting Luna to be asleep she was suprised when she found nothing in her bed. Luna was standing on her balcony looking out across Canterlot. She was uneasy, she could feel it too, she knew what was out ther, but was she right in her assumption? Were they actually back? She shook her head and sighed, "I know why you're here sister, and yes I feel it too. Frankly I don't know how it is possible." "Neither do I sister but I do believe that this isn't something that I can just throw my student into. And I was wondering if maybe you had any suggestions?" The younger sister looked up at the older with a spark in her eye and a smile slowly crossed her face. "I have Awaited those words for so long sister'' Chuckling, Celestia stepped aside and let her sister run out of the room, she was putting alot of trust into her sister by doing this. watching as she passed, she sighed and stepped slowly out after her. This was the first time that she had givin her younger sister any sort of responsibility and deep down she was hoping that she wasnt making a mistake.
