//-------------------------------------------------------// Rainbow Ballerina -by Blue Blaze- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// A New Direction //-------------------------------------------------------// A New Direction It had to be the worst possible thing ever. Rainbow Dash, Equestria’s best flier and element of loyalty, had been kicked out of the Wonderbolts. She had just taken her friends’ advice the wrong way and made a fool of herself. What was worse was the fact that they called her ‘Rainbow Crash’; the same name she was called back in flight school. She wasn’t able to keep her tomboy-like attitude as she started one of the greatest waterfalls ever. Her friends were all there inside her cloud home, watching the cyan Pegasus mope about her biggest dreams being shattered like the most expensive vase in the world. “It’s over. My life is officially over. There’s nothing in the world that can make up for this. I AM DONE! JUST KILL ME NOW!!” she screamed as she continues to sob in her bed. “Rainbow!! We’re not letting you kill yourself just because you failed to live your dreams,” Twilight said, trying to comfort the rainbow pony. “Not to mention they called you… ‘Rainbow Crash’”, came Fluttershy, knowing how much the nickname hurt her longest friend. “The point being, dear, you shouldn’t try to impress your idols without knowing all the rules first,” Rarity added. “I thought everything had been learned and I could easily blow them off their hooves,” Dash tried to counter, but knew where that would end up. “Oh ho ho, you blew them off their hooves, all right, literally,” Twi whispered to herself. “Well, you may have known everything there was to know about the academy, but in the real deal, they are strict. Spitfire thought if you were going to continue to showboat, then maybe having you in the reserves was a big mistake,” “But how?! I’m Rainbow Dash! The most awesome pony in the history of Equestria,” the rainbow pony shouted. “I’ve got a few picks for that title,” the alicorn whispered to one of her friends. “Woe is me, woe is me! What am I to do now? I have failed my purpose in life!” Dash said, depressing herself even more. “Dash! Pull yourself together! You’re acting like you’re losing Tank again,” Twilight yelled in frustration. “Well, can you blame her? This was her DREAM! She’s absolutely devastated, and being a bit of a drama queen myself,” Rarity said, laughing nervously at herself. “I think it’s best if we let her vent,” “Maybe you’re right, Rare. Don’t worry. There are still plenty of things you can do,” “Like what?” Dash asked, trying to see what else she could be good at. In her perspective, the only thing she knew she was good at was flying. She devoted every single spare minute she could scrape into being the absolute best flier in Equestria. “Well, whenever Spike isn’t around, you can come by and help straighten up the library,” said Twilight. “Pass,” Dash wasted no time in turning down the librarian’s offer. Just the thought of organizing a bunch of dusty books for hours was enough to make her vomit. “We could always use a few extra hooves on the farm. Ah bet you would make a great apple bucker,”AJ said. “Don’t think I’ll be quite helpful. I'm athletic, sure, but I don't think I would want to waste my time knocking down apples all day. No offense,” “Um, you could try to help me tend to my animals,” Flutters whispered. Dash remembered the few times she tried to help the animals. She even went as deep as to remembering the time all of them had switched cutie marks. With a very scared face she quietly responded, “Uh, no,” “You could lend me a hoof with setting up my parties. You’re always a blast to have around!” came Pinkie. “Yeah, but it won’t be as awesome. Your parties are alright, but I want to be the life of the party!” “I could have you haul back some gems for me, that is, if you’re willing to work on ground” Rarity said, being the last. “Are you kidding? No way am I, Rainbow Dash, am getting grounded,” “Well then, what will you do?” Twi asked with a rather plain and unamused face, almost certain Dash didn’t have a backup plan. “….. I don’t know. I’ve always set my sights on making it into the Wonderbolts so much, I kinda forgot about picking out another option in case I didn’t do it,” The purple alicorn raised her right eyebrow, sending Dash a mental ‘You think?’ look. “Well,” she started, annoyance in her voice, “if you decide what to do next, please be sure to let us know,” “Heh, yeah. I’ll do that,” the cyan Pegasus said back with a lot of uncertainty. Twi quickly turned around, her face going from annoyed to a little mad. Dash froze with fear. Twi then gave the rainbow pony a firm nod, telling her that this is what’s best for her. After the door closed shut, Dash started to panic. “What am I gonna do? What am I gonna do? WHAT AM I GONNA DO?! Okay, first is to calm down,” she took a few breaths in and out, but that did little to relieve her, “ Next, is to get out there!” she blasted out of her cloud abode, nearly sending her pet tortoise crashing into one of the structure stands (for her roof, of course) . “Don’t wait up for me, Tank!” she yelled, voice slowly fading. Her first stop for the remaining time of the day was one she never expected. An aerial ballerina class. She slowly raised her head to peek inside. What she saw was lots of female pegasi doing lots of aerial dancing. She watched them for hours, seeing them spin, flip, barrel roll, and even dive and rise again. All this had Dash’s mind leading to one thing, “This is perfect,” “All right, class. That will be all for today. Same time tomorrow, everypony,” said the teacher, catching Dash off guard. She quickly flew to the side of the building to hide from view. Once all the students had left, she walked inside. Thank Celestia the door was still unlocked. The teacher turned around to see the rainbow pony enter, and her heart just fluttered with excitement. *gasp* “H-hello, Ms. R-rainbow Dash. What b-brings you here?” she tried to say clearly, but was too hyped. “Ooooooh, nothing much. I just…. Wanted to see…. If… you……. “ she said, head hanging low, quieting voice, and a slight blush on her face. “If we what?” “Ifyouhadanotherspaceopen!” she blurred out. The teacher was completely lost on what she just heard. “Mind repeating that?” Hearing that only deepened Dash’s blush. “I wanted to see if you had another space open,” “Of course we do. In fact, I believe one of my previous students had just graduated from here, so yes. Would you like it?” “…..yes…” Dash responded with a voice to quiet to hear. “I’m sorry, what was that?” “Yes,” “Okay, just a few things before you’re set. We like to get your measurements first…” The process went on without a hitch, and before Dash knew it, she was done. “Now, we’ll just send these to the first available clerk we can find,” the teacher said, typing on a computer (not going to question how a pony can type). “Oh, it seems there’s a spot open in Carousel Boutique,” “NOOO!!” Dash screamed. She knew who worked there, and the type pf pony she is. If Rarity got the slightest hint of Dash joining a ballerina class, it will spread like wildfire coming to consume her soul. She had to make sure the secret stayed as far away from Rarity and her friends as possible, or she may live to choke on it. “Maybe you can see if there’s a spot in Canterlot?” The teacher didn’t understand why she didn’t want the dress at the closest location possible, but she did as Dash asked. “Yes, there is one open there. Would you like for me to book it there?” “Yes!” “Okay. It will take a few days for it to actually be delivered. Now you said your address was a cloud house with a rainbow waterfall in Ponyville?” “Yes, But I think It’ll be best if I make it a pickup,” More confusion. “Okay, so that should be it. Thank you for stopping by. We really look forward to having you with us,” As Dash finally returned home, she put her poster on the ceiling, eagerly awaiting the day she would get in. She took a quick shower and called it a night. "Tomorrow, Tank, I'll bury this burden and start all over again. nothing can go wrong with this, right?" She was wrong. Author's Note Sorry. I had a ton of things stopping me from getting stories up. Chapter 2 is already finished and ready for piblishing.:applecry: https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/applecry.png Don't worry, I'm not done writing Fimfics. Plenty more coming. https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/pinkiesmile.png //-------------------------------------------------------// The Dress of Awesome is Discovered //-------------------------------------------------------// The Dress of Awesome is Discovered In Canterlot the next morning, a very tall mare that can easily be mistaken for an alicorn, Sassy Saddles, had received an E-mail on her computer. Opening it up, she smiled to see that another ballerina dress had been ordered. Scrolling to the bottom to see who’s name it was under, She took a long time to render it into her mind, but the order was the name of Rainbow Dash, the pony who was nearly framed by the legendary wonderbolt, Wind Rider. “Oh, my. I never knew she was into this kind of stuff. Rarity had always told me she was more of a tomboy. I’m sure this is something she’ll be interested in,” Just as she finished her statement to nopony in particular, her horn had given off a ring similar to that of a telephone, glowing as it did. “Hello?” She answered. Who she heard brought a smile to her face. It was her business partner (and Rainbow Dash’s friend), Rarity. “Hello there, Sassy. Lovely that you could answer on such short notice,” “What do you mean? Where are you?” ‘I’m on my way to Canterlot right now! I was going to discuss the new location I found in Manehatten,” “Really?” Sassy squealed. “I also know who’s going to be in charge,” “Really, who?” “Coco Pommel! She’s a really good friend of mine and knows how to do the job right. I wish we could share this conversation with her to tell her the good news, but…” Rares paused. “Yeah, the fact we’re communicating via telepathy,” “No matter, I think I know how to still deliver the message,” “Oh, is that so?” “Yes,” “Well, have I got a surprise for you!” “You do?! WHAT IS IT?!?!” Now, it was Rarity's turn to squeal with excitement. “Trust me, it’ll be worth the wait,” A few minutes later, the ivory social unicorn had arrived in her second business location, and the soon-to-be home. She immediately cut to the chase with the surprise Sassy had in store for her, literally. “So get this, I had just received another order for a unique ballerina dress,” Sassy started. “Oh, that doesn’t surprise me at all. You have been getting a lot of those orders lately, seeing as you stuck to my Rules of Rarity,” “But get this. The mare it’s supposed to be delivered to wants it to look like a rainbow,” “A rainbow? That is a bit new, considering the fact that we’ve never done one like that before. Who’s the lucky pony?” Sassy was on the verge of just telling her who it was, her smile widening to almost a creepy one, but both mares know that surprises are better when you find about it yourself. “Hehehehe… I’ll give you one guess,” “Hmm… can I get a hint, pretty please?” “Hehe… okay, but only this one. She likes to be… shall we say, awesome!” “A mare who likes rainbows and being awesome…….*gasp*” The ivory pony had literally stuck a hoof in her mouth when she realized who the mare was. “No! You can’t mean...?” Sassy only nodded her head. “B-b-but, s-she’s always said she’s into more… manly-like things,” “That part got me, too! So, it seems that this order will be going to….” “RAINBOW DASH!!” Both mares screamed. “Oh, I just had the best idea! What if we put your name on the delivery instead?” Sassy asked, adding an evil grin to her statement. “Where exactly are you going with this?” “I believe you told me how much of a tomboy she was, and seeing her cringe whenever you pass by is sure to bring a smile to your face. She knows how you are with keeping secrets. I think this is a rather cute one,” “I think so, too, but I don’t want her to think I’m a bad friend,” “Oh, just go with me on this one! You’re going to love it!!” “Oh, if you insist!” Rares said with a giddy face. Later in the evening, a blur of many colors could be seen blasting through Canterlot. Hoping she wasn’t too late, Dash sped to boutique to receive her dress. She arrived to see Sassy getting all of her equipment ready for tomorrow. “Hey there, Sassy. I’m here to pick up my dress,” “Oh, hello there, Rainbow Dash. Sorry, but if you’re here to pick up your dress, we’ve already delivered it to your house,” “WHAT?! I thought I made it clear in my order, ‘personal pickup’?” “I know, but a certain somepony had told me that you had the knack of sometimes showing up late,” Sass said with a look that could probably look into your soul. The way Sassy was playing got Dash’s heart racing. “W-w-what do you m-mean, heh?” “Oh, I think you’ll find out…. on your delivery,” she said with a smile that would the Troll proud. Dash couldn’t take it anymore. She blasted out of the shop with such speed, she almost knocked down the mannequins inside. Luckily, Sassy was a unicorn and she simply used her magic to keep them in place. The rainbow blur had pulled off her signature Sonic Rainboom just to see how much of a rush she was in. Once back at her cloud home, she rushed to her bedroom to see who could possibly have made the delivery. She looked on the package and her heart had almost stopped. Made by Sassy Saddles… and Rarity. Rarity. “…Rarity…” she whispered, her face going pale. She slowly walked to her closet along with her dress and Tank, hiding herself from the outside world. “It’s okay. It’s not like she’s going to tell anypony, is it?” she said to her pet. Her only response was a slow blinking of the eyes. “You’re right. She’s probably going to tell EVERYpony!” She balled herself up and rocked from side to side, trying to calm herself, but the more she tried, the more she thought about the secret getting out. Eventually, that wasn’t the case. She had calmed down to where she left the insanity box and got in her bed for some much needed rest. Cue the nightmares. “Yoo-hoo, ladies!” Rarity shouted to her friends as they passed by. “What is it, Rares?” asked Applejack. “You won’t believe the secret I have in store for you,” “You know, it’s not so good to spill secrets about anypony, right?” came Twi. “Says the pony who does the 2nd worst job at keeping them,” the fashionista countered with a wink to Fluttershy. The lavender alicorn only blushed at the statement, remembering how horrible of a job she did. “Okay, I think I’ll let you get this one in,” “Yay! I was down at the Canterlot Carousel, discussing the location I found to open a 3rd boutique in Manehatten, when Sassy revealed to me that she had received an order for a ballerina dress,” “Uh, Rares?” AJ rudely interrupted. “That’s not really much of a secret,” “Yeah, you two practically make those all the time ever since that new place came into Cloudsdale,” Pinkie added. “Ahem, as I was saying,” Rarity continued, quite unamused that her story was stopped. “It was a rainbow ballerina dress. Turns out, the dress was for…” She paused, checked the area to see if there the slightest sign of the cyan pony, and huddled in closer. The others followed. “Don’t tell them, please,” Dash muttered in her sleep. “Yes?” The gang whispered together. “Before I tell you, promise you won’t overreact?” Rares asked, putting her front hooves together in a begging motion. All of them nodded their heads. “It’s for Rainbow Dash.” Gasp! “No,” she said, beginning to stir. “But why?” Twi asked. “She’s joining the new ballerina class in Cloudsdale!” the ivory unicorn answered with a huge grin. GASP!! “No!” “Anything else?” came the shy Pegasus. “It also said, quote, ‘So I can dress in style’” GASP!!! “NOOO!!” she shouted as she woke up. Sweat was dripping down her fur. Her heart was running wild. “Curse you, Rarity,” Author's Note There you go. Chapter 3 is still being worked on. Give me your honest opinion on the story and I'll try to improve as much as I can. //-------------------------------------------------------// Secrets Revealed //-------------------------------------------------------// Author's Note Sorry 4 D very looooooooooong wait. Life issues can strike you down, you know?:fluttershysad: https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/fluttershysad.png Anyways, here's the 3rd chapter. Hope you like it, and remember, if somethng doesn't seem right, let me know in the comments. Secrets Revealed At the weather factory in Cloudsdale, a dark gray stallion with a light blue mane was waiting impatiently for a certain cyan Pegasus. Two mares then came around a corner to greet said stallion. “Where is she?! She’s at least an hour late. She didn’t practice too much again, did she?” came the stallion. “Are you KIDDING ME, THUNDERLANE?!? Are you aware that Rainbow Dash has FAILED her dream of becoming a Wonderbolt? You are such an IDIOT!!!” Cloudchaser came. “Well, yeah. I knew that, but that’s no excuse to be an hour late,” “Oh, yeah?” Chaser barked back. “How would you feel if YOU failed to achieve your dream?” “Well,… I would be very depressed,” Thunder admitted to himself, lowering his head. “Don’t worry about Dash,” Came Flitter. “She’ll come around eventually,” “You’re right,” he said with a smile. Just then, the doors slowly opened to reveal a very exhausted Rainbow Dash. Her eyes were stained red with bags underneath, her mane was messier than usual, and she lost some air every now and again. She crashed on the desk that Thunderlane was working at. “Uh, can I help you, Dash?” He asked unassumingly. She was out. The twins tried shaking her, shouting in her ears, and took a small lightning cloud and shot it off. Nothing. “What should we do with her?” Cloudchaser asked. “We got to find some way to make her work, but what?” Eventually, they had come up with an idea. A ridiculous idea, but still an idea. They had doodled on her face to make her look like she was awake and attached sticks to her forehooves to make them move. Another Pegasus was coming through the building. “Hello,” came Cloudchaser, trying her best to mimic her friend’s voice. “Oh, hello Rainbow Dash,” came a very happy voice belonging to a certain gray Pegasus. “Morning, Derpy. Finishing your morning route?” “Yup. Ready for duty at the factory. Oh, before I go, I have a letter for you,” Hearing the conversation stirred the rainbow pony from her slumber. She looked at her hooves and wondered what kind of prank she was in. She whipped her head around to see Cloudchaser behind her. “Hey, what are you doing with me? And who’s that letter for?” “Sorry, it’s for you, Dashie,” “Please don’t call me that at work,” the rainbow pony was blushing mad at her cutest nickname. Only her closest friends were allowed to call her that, not that she wouldn’t blush if they did. She took the letter saying that it was her first day of class. “Hey, Chaser? You don’t mind if I catch a few Z’s, do you? I’ve got to get ready for something this afternoon,” “Sure. I’ve got something of my own that I need to do as well. Later,” As the day at the factory came to a close, Dash made a beeline for home to prepare for rehearsal, but when she had got there, a pink unicorn was awaiting her return. “ ‘Sup, Star. What brings you here?” “A lot, actually. I was trying out Twi’s cloud walking spell to talk to you,” came Glimmer. “What about?” she asked, nerves already taking ahold of her. “Rarity. Has she been acting… Strange as of recent?” “What, no! Why would I know anything about that?!” Dash blurred out. “Is that so? Well then why would she ask me to see YOU?” Starlight shouted, pointing a hoof at Dash. The cyan mare was under deep pressure as the cunning unicorn was determined to get answers. Her eyes were everywhere but on Starlight, desperately trying to conjure an excuse. “Nothing much, heh. She probably just sent you her to check up on me, yup. I’m alright and dandy,” “Mmm-hmm,” Star muttered, giving Dash dagger eyes. The rainbow Pegasus would start pouring a waterfall at this rate. “Well, if that’s all you had to tell me, then I’m done here,” Rainbow blew out a sigh of relief as the visitor had left her abode. She slowly walked in and turned around behind the door to see if Starlight was out of sight. Seeing that she was, Dash quickly got herself dressed for the later occasion. She arrived a few minutes before starting time to stretch herself out, unaware that a certain Pegasus was just passing by. “There, primed and ready. YIKES!” Dash shouted, looking for something to hide behind. The Pegasus in question was the only male currently in the Wonderbolts and her crush, Soarin. Dash knew if he saw what she was doing, a few more dreams were going to get shattered. “What’s he doing? Oh, I just hope he doesn’t see me,” Just as she made her little prayer, the rest of the class was arriving. “Okay, everypony, settle down. Today, we will be working in groups doing duets,” came the teacher. All of them quickly chose their partners and began discussing what dances they will be doing. Dash was left with a certain Pegasus with a turquoise coat and golden mane. “Hey there, Dash. How you doing?” Are you kidding me? The rainbow pony thought. “Hello, Lightning Dust…” “Nice to see you after all these years. Didn’t expect you to be this girly,” “WHAT?!” Dash shouted. “Excuse me, but can we step outside for a minute?” The teacher nodded. Dash suggested they talk at the back to make sure nopony saw her. “What are you doing here?!” “Well, after getting kicked out of the academy, I had heard of this place. With the agility to easily match yours, I didn’t waste a moment to sign up. They were really impressed at what I could do, so they took me up,” “That’s……. nice to hear,” Dash replied with an awkward smile. “So, how have you been doing?” “Quite well, thank you for asking, now just follow my lead and you will do just fine,” Dash wasn’t very fond of following somepony else’s lead, but to ensure she didn’t look like a total noob, she played along.
