Good Luck (Avalanche's Entry)

My psychologist says that I haven’t been getting any better. He put me on a stronger medication not that it will help. I mean does he honestly believe that I can just take a magic pill for a few weeks or months and I’ll be all fine and dandy? Fuck him. How could he know what kind of pain of pain I’ve been through these past months? He can’t… how could he? I’m just another pay check to him, another seventy dollar an hour cash in an listening to my suffering only to offer me some half assed advice on what I should do to get over it. My sister, my dear sweet little sister. She’s gone now, she’s gone and there is nothing I can do. During the attack of the changelings my sister and I were in Manehatten. Sure Canterlot had things under control within a few hours, but it wasn’t until days after these events that the royal fuck ups even knew that the other major Equestrian cities had been attacked as well. My little sister Snowy Brisk, she was exposed to so much. She saw buildings crumble and ponies getting hurt, it was horrifying. We stayed hidden in an old art gallery which was on the third floor of a five story building

I still remember her asking me if we were going to be ok. She was trembling, she was scared, and I was her big brother. She was so little, only seven years old. She could see the fires that were spreading through the city and she could hear the terrified screams of the ponies who fled in terror from the changeling attacks, but I told her that we were going to be fine. I told her that nothing bad would happen to her as long as she was with me. Her crying was unbearable. All I could do is hold her, to be a good big brother and just hope to be able to wait it out.

It had been about four hours that we had been there when I started to smell the smoke. One of the fires in another building had spread to the lower floors of the building that we had hidden away in. As soon as we tried to move the floor fell out from underneath us and we fell straight into the fire below. Luckily I was able to land away from the flames, not that they were any less painful. My sister had fallen into the next room. Her screams had me up so fast most race horses would be jealous. She was loud enough as that I could easily pinpoint where her screams were coming from. The flames had the entrance way engulfed, but that didn’t stop me from busting through that door. The burns were so painful, every time any part of my body moved I felt the sharp burning pains shoot through my body.

I found my sister, she… she was engulfed in flames. My first and only instinct was to grab her and jump out of the window. It was stupid from an outside perspective but what could I do, I had to get her out of there. I’m an earth pony, I couldn’t fly and I couldn’t teleport. I knew we were on the second floor so my only option was to jump and prey that we were not too far off the ground. Luckily we didn’t even fall that far, I cushioned the fall as I held her in my forearms. I broke my shoulder and I came out with a few burns but besides that I came out fucking peachy. My sister, she… the burns were horrible, over half of her little body, covered in horrible burns, she was struggling to breathe. I couldn’t even cry I was so horrified by the sight I held in my hands. The last words she ever spoke to me, “It hurts.”

She died, she died a horrible, painful death. She felt every bit of pain that the fire had to offer. She suffered horribly, and it is all my fault. I was the one who decided to hide in that building, I set those events in place, if only we had chosen another hiding spot she would be ok, she would be ok and I would still have my little sister. After our parents died I was all she had, and she was all I had. I let her down. I failed my duty to protect the last little bit of blood I had left on this earth.

Even worse, those princesses we all look up to, yeah they didn’t even care. They didn’t even care about what was happening in the rest of the kingdom. Oh no, they were so focused a stupid wedding. Rather than making sure that their kingdom was safe they decided to continue the big royal wedding. Well I hope it was a great fucking wedding because my sister is dead. I’m not getting her back, but oh let’s throw a huge fucking wedding and celebrate love and friendship while the rest of the world is falling apart. They even had the gall to ride into town in a huge fucking celebration that was to celebrate their glorious victory, but what was worse is that the crowd cheered. Why? In our hour of need they were nowhere to be found and yet… they were cheering for them. They were cheering for those who had abandoned us in our hour of need. I was so angry, and drunk. I threw my bottle and hit that bitch Celestia right in the fucking head. Before the royal guard was able to arrest me I yelled my sister’s name to her. I told her that her blood was on her hooves. As they arrested me all that I was able to do was scream my sister’s name repeatedly.

When they sent me home I picked up another bottle of Hay Strap bourbon. It still seems that all I do is drink, even now as I write this there is an open bottle sitting in one hoof and a pen in the other. If I drink myself to death what will it matter? If the whole world would rather care about some fucking wedding rather than the citizens who suffer from their own leaders neglect, why would they care about some young drunkard dying? The answers is they wouldn’t, not a single one mother fucker would ever care. When I got home that day from jail I found a letter from the palace. It had a fucking referral sheet to the fucking psychologist I go to now. With it, a fucking note from the big girl herself telling me “good luck.” Good luck, good fucking luck. My sister is dead and she tells me good luck? Just like that. What? Does she think that honestly made things any better?

If I ever get the chance before I die I will make sure that bitch burns. I want her to suffer the same as my innocent little sister did. I will look back at her one last time as she is nearing her last breathe and I will tell her, good luck.
