//-------------------------------------------------------// Rebound -by Ratmandango- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue Crack… Snap… Crunch… Those are the only noises she could hear as she pushed her way through the thick forest. Run. That’s all she could do, she had to get away. Away. Speaking of that, where is ‘away’? Is it some physical place to live out the rest of your days until you wither down to a cold, lifeless husk. or could it be some conjuration of the mind that provides us with a false sense of security. She decided it doesn’t matter, now’s not the time to get philosophical, she just had to get ‘away’ from those two… demons. They will not take her, like they did her father. She could still remember what he said before they separated. 30 Minutes Earlier “Twilight”, A long, tall, thin dragon-like creature covered with mismatched animal parts said. “I need you to run, and never turn back. I will deal everything here, and when I’m done, I’ll find you.” He finished with. “But Dad! I can’t leave you alone!” Twilight shouted, her voice and face filled with many different emotions, mainly concern and fear. “I’m sorry Twilight, but you have to. I can’t risk letting them know you exist, the things they could, do too you are despicable. And I couldn’t live with myself knowing I allowed it to happen.”. “But what about what they could do too you! I don’t know what I would do, where I could go without you!” She cried out. Discord sighed, “Twilight, did you ever wonder why I gave you that name” He asked, “What? why are you asking th-“ “Answer the question” Discord cut her off. “No, no I haven’t. I didn’t see a reason to question it.” She replied, “It’s because it’s the middle, the phase of the sky during the transition of Day to Night, or Night to Day. It chooses which phase it wants the sky to be whether it’s the cold, but beautiful night. Or the hot, but productive day, now, it’s your time to decide what your future is going to be like, your phase in which others define you as.” Twilight stared deep into his eyes deciphering what he meant, “B-but I’m too young! I don’t enough experience, I-I” Tears started to form at the edges of her purple eyes. “I didn’t say you have to decide immediately, go out, live your life how you want to live. But know, no matter what you do, I will always love, and be proud of you.” He ended with a smile, as he started leaking tears of his own. Twilight knew it always come down to this, the day they would have to split so she could live her own life. But she didn’t think it would happen to her at such a young age, especially for an immortal Draconequus. So she tried to stall, just too gain a few extra moments with her father, who she knew could easily be taken from her. Especially now as he prepares to face the Knights of the Sun and Moon, the Sentinels of the Sky, Celestia and Luna. The ones who repeatedly tried to destroy the beautiful Chaos all around her, they, of course, lose every-time. But they just don’t stop, and Twilight knew that one day, they would find a way to destroy everything she and her father worked so hard to build. “Dad, stay safe, I love you” she managed to churn out as the tears cascaded down her cheeks like Neighagra Falls. “I love you too, Darling. Now go, Daddy has work to finish.” He then embraced her in a tight, yet loving hug. They then disconnected, she stared into his yellow and red eyes one more time before turning around and taking off. She planned on following his orders to the fullest, while still keeping an eye on him, so she ran about one-to-two hundred feet, before crouching into an alley. Not too as deep as to constrict her vision, but far enough that someone would have to thoroughly examine it in order to see her. And she waited, she turned to the left and watched as her father hopped onto his wooden throne, grabbed a bag of Plunderseeds, and began to chow down. And then she heard it. *Clop Clop* *Clop Clop* To any normal creature, they were the sounds of a larger pony striking their hooves against a hard surface. But too her, they were nails to a chalkboard. She turned to the right and saw THEM. Saddle-bags thrown over each of their backs, walk through she chaos filled streets, with a slight hint of arrogance in their step. They continued this until they were about twenty feet from Discord’s throne, and spoke. She was too far away to hear the full conversation, but she could hear name exchanges, and then saw Discord suddenly pull Celestia’s tail from her body and hold it in his talons. She then saw them talk some more, until she heard the phrases ‘defeat’ and ‘elements of harmony’. She froze, surely they were bluffing? They attacked many times before to then receive no results, but this time it was different. She had never heard of these ‘Elements’, she decided not to dwell and turned her attention back to the scene, just in time to see white balls of light form over each of the Alicorns. And then a beam of solid rainbow burst from them, arcing straight onto Discord, she resulting light forced her eyes shut, as they reopened, she wished they didn’t. Sitting there in the spot of Discord, was a petrified statue, of him striking a final pose. She forced herself to stay, as she wanted to rush forward and fight, but remembered her father’s wishes, and stared. How could they do this? She gave her tear ducts no free time today, as they began pumping fluids through themselves. She turned away from the horrible scene and ran, she didn’t know where too, but she did it. Twilight tried not to think about the earlier events, and instead payed attention to the forest ahead of her. She noticed it started too thin, until she came to the mouth of a cave, with a small circular patch of grass outside of it. She hesitated a moment before venturing in, immediately scanning it for any predators, finding none, she laid down in the fetal position, and drifted of too into a peaceful slumber. One Week Later She snaked along the hedges in the gardens of The Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters, avoided any guard present. She moved with the speed of a jet plane trying to find a certain newly added decoration that now resides in this very place. Peeking around a hedge, she saw a path lined with stone statues on either side, at the very end, sat a particularly happy-looking frozen god. She dashed between and around statues in order to avoid being seen, she soon arrived at the end of the path, and stared up at the statue. The once loving father and god of chaos, now reduced to a mere trophy. She reached behind her back and pulled a light-blue flower, ‘Poison Joke, his favorite’ Twilight thought. She looked at the flower intensely before planting it in-front of the statue, and slithered off. Up in the castle, Celestia stepped on to her balcony, and shifted her head. Managing to catch a quick glimpse of the end half of a serpentine topped off by a spot of dark hair, with a purple and pink stripe. Before a smile graced her lips. Author's Note Mommy!
