Several years ago, Rumble got his cutie mark. The thing is that his special talent is fashion. Yes, the effeminate foal got a traditionally feminine talent, who da thunk. Anyways, while that is going on, Scootaloo got a passion to dance.

Years later, the two foals are now named "Platinum Night" and "Grace Dancer", respectively. While the two foals finally meet, strange things are already and still is happening and being noticed, ranging from shadow creatures similar to the nightmare forces, to altered cutie marks, to getting two cutie marks, physical appearances being altered, ponies temporarily becoming emotionless for a while, etc…

So while our male fashion designer, tomboy dancer, and Glory "Scootablue" Acher are working along with others in some theater thing, "Ribbon", as friends sometimes call him, slowly uncover clues to the identities of the emotion eaters and the cutie mark conundrum.
