Sweat dripped off of their foreheads and they were nearly out of water, but he didn't care. This was a momentous time for the stallion and he wasn't going to let the near lack of water stop him. Heaving himself up onto a boulder, the stallion glanced down at his comrade with a chuckle. His friend's tongue lolled out of his mouth and he was sweating bullets. "What're we doing with our lives?" the stallion below complained, practically dragging himself to rest beside his more athletic friend. The stallion snorted with a grin as he tossed aside his saddlebag and rummaged through its contents, gently pulling a Canon camera from a pocket and lifting it to his eye. His smile only grew wider as he snapped several photos of the gorgeous view. Following this, the stallion leaned back as his friend drank what remained of his canteen after wiping down his forehead with a small towel. "My friend..." the stallion started. "We are living life to its fullest." With that, the hiker patted his friend's shoulder with a smile. Almost as soon as his hoof made contact, the earth below shuddered slightly, causing the duo to look to his hoof with confused expressions. Before either was able to ask anything, the earth shook again, this time in a much more violent manner. As a result of this, the stallion's camera was sent tumbling down the mountainside, where it stopped upon bumping into a row of jagged, rocky protrusions. "Kuso!" the stallion exclaimed after his shock had faded, slipping off of his current perch and scrambling down the side of the mountain to retrieve his camera. Ducking beside the sheets of rock, the hiker lifted his utensil and inspected its surface for any damages. The casing was chipped and covered in a bit of dust, but nothing that would hinder its functionality. As his friend made his way down to follow, the hiker looked up at the tall protrusions with a mixture of fascination and slight fear. He could easily tell that they had not been here before, as there was no growth of lichens or moss on their surface. The area surrounding them was also heavily disturbed, likely a result of the earthquake. Looking over his shoulder and at his equally confused friend, the stallion cocked a brow. "What do you make of this?" he asked. "I... don't know. But it doesn't look like it should be here." the stallion acknowledged, a hoof to his chin in thought. Before either could say anything more, though, the ground began to shake again, this time violently enough that neither hiker could stay on their hooves. As the earthquake grew in intensity, an otherworldy bellow rang out from below them before the rocky protrusions began to elongate, dust and debris filling the air and reducing visibility to the point that the friends were nearly blind. But as one began to tumble down the mountainside with the emergence of a heavily armored hide, his friend scrambled away, lifted the camera, and took several photos of the situation. Through the dust, the head of a massive creature whose spinal column was lined with batteries of jagged dorsal plates became visible. But as he prepared to snap the photograph, the titan's jaws widened and a tremendous bellow echoed across the Neighponese mountain ranges. https://camo.fimfiction.net/cRiTyYb8BD7g_q3HVYaSRZI_rNHSO6dfe28Y-Pkx4GM?url=https%3A%2F%2Fvignette.wikia.nocookie.net%2Fgodzilla%2Fimages%2F5%2F52%2FGodzilla_%25282014_film%2529_-_Comic_Con_2012_Trailer_-_00010.png%2Frevision%2Flatest%3Fcb%3D20170417125655 -Ponyville- The large mare stabbed at her lettuce with the provided fork, having grown accustomed to an Equestrian diet, in spite of her previously carnivorous nature. Lifting the forkful of salad to her gaping jaws, the broken horned mare chewed quietly, though with slight difficulty at the prospect of lacking herbivorous molars. Rexy did manage to do so, however, and upon finishing her mouthful, she turned to Obsidian with a slight smile. "So. How was work?" she asked in a way that would look surreal to any dinosaur expert. "Meh," he replied with a shrug. "Uneventful... Save for Fluttershy's cockatoo. You remember Harley, right?" the pegasus stallion asked. Rexy rolled her eyes and nodded. "I do." "Friggin bugger got me again," Obsidian said, sweeping back his mane slightly to reveal a band-aid. The unicorn snorted in slight amusement before noticing that her alicorn daughter, Midnight Ruby, had nearly finished eating her own dinner. Rexy's expression flatlined before she spoke. "Have you ever considered chewing your food, before?" she grunted sarcastically. "Or are you just some kind of living vacuum?" The red-striped teenager in question became dead still just as a forkful of food was almost at her lips, mouth open as she stared up at her mother and her unimpressed expression. Rexy lifted her brows. "That a no?" Obsidian let a chuckle escape his mouth and shook his head before Midnight finished off her meal. "I'm the daughter of a dinosaur, Mom. Dinosaurs didn't chew their food..." she retorted. "Oh, and have you two ever considered being just a tad more quiet at night?" the teenager added quietly with a smirk. Sensitive hearing picked up on the last part. The heavily built mare's muzzle turned bright red whilst Obsidian began to choke on a swallow of coffee, steam slithering from his nostrils as the alicorn rose from her seat and rinsed her dish. After his choking had died down, the pegasus spoke. "Midnight Alexa Ruby! That is none of your damn business!" he barked, pointing a hoof at his daughter before redirecting it towards her room. "Okay! Sorry!" Midnight winced, quickly moving to retreat to her room before her father started chewing up the scenery. As Midnight did so, the red of Rexy's cheeks gradually died down, her shock gradually waning before she found some logic to this situation. Her surprise transitioned into a glare that she directed at her husband. "I blame you for everything about that," she grumbled. "What, Why?" Obsidian replied. "What'd I do?" "You're the reason that we even have a kid," the unicorn grumbled before rising from her seat and nonchalantly placing her plate in the sink. The pegasus stallion rose to his seat with a slightly prideful expression. "Oh, sure. Blame me for the fact that you, being a genetic mutation, aren't sterile like I initially thought," Obsidian retorted. Before Rexy could move to her lounge chair, the pegasus gently forced her against the counter. "Besides... Do you regret having Midnight," he grinned before casually touching his lips to the mare's. Rexy rolled her eyes, unable to say anything as a result of the lip-lock. Though she was slightly sensitive of the topic surrounding her creation, the former star of Jurassic Park, and then Jurassic World, was never able to stay angry at the dolt that was her current husband. A sigh slithered from her nose as she returned the kiss, a smile gradually forming upon her lips. Pulling away slightly, she spoke. "No, I guess not... Forced Onyx to accept me, so why should I stay angry?" Midnight Ruby, in the meantime, was busy talking with a friend of hers via the telepathy she'd been taught by fellow alicorn, Twilight Sparkle. Hey, Sapphire. You there? the mare asked via her mind whilst she focused on her homework. Course, I'm here, Rubes! a familiar voice chimed, eliciting a smile from the mare as she worked. Why wouldn't I be? I don't know... Hey, I meant to ask, how's Manehattan? Midnight asked with a soft smile. Busy as all Tartarus! I mean, c'mon! It's harder to get around than Ponyville during the Summer Sun Celebration! Sapphire exclaimed. If Midnight had been with her, she'd have seen that her best friend wore a wide eyed, and yet excited expression upon her face. The winged unicorn knew her friend well enough to imagine the look on Sapphire's face and chuckled. That bad, huh? she asked, tapping her chin with a pencil as she pondered the math problem she was currently stuck on. She inherited the tyrannosaur IQ from her mother. Oh my CELESTIA, it's awful... Also, your Uncle Ratchet sends his best. He's currently allowing me to stay with him and his wife at the moment and wanted me to say hi to his favorite grand-niece, Sapphire continued. Cool. Thanks, Sapph, Midnight thought before the remembrance of a situation in Neighpon came to the forefront of her mind. Sapphire didn't need to ask to see the photo that a Neighponese hiker had snapped of a massive creature bellowing into the air. Thinking about that incident, eh? Y'know, the photo that hiker took looks an awful lot like a kaiju, if you ask me, she chimed. That's what I was thinking, Midnight acknowledged. It almost reminds me of Godzilla... Except he vanished, what, three, four decades ago? the mare thought with a shrug. I'm studying this in my history class. It's weird, because the photo LOOKS like Godzilla, but the skull looks to squared off and his spines are more like spikes than they were before. Maybe it's just the effect of the dust playing tricks on you?" Sapphire suggested, more as a question than such. I dunno... But I feel like this might involve me somehow. I don't even know why... I mean, my grandparents fought in Final Wars, but that doesn't mean anything, right? the teenager said as an uneasy feeling that all of the history surrounding Final Wars was circling to her. A moment passed before her friend replied. Hm... Dunno... If anything turns up, feel free to contact me, though. I'd love to see how this panes out. Okay, Sapph. Think to ya later. Tokyo Bay Airport, Neighpon Tons upon tones of rubble shifted as black smoke billowed into Princess Luna's night sky. Tokyo's residents, no doubt many, screamed in panic as a series of explosions rang out, jet fuel exploding into toxic vapors and flames as a hellish scream echoed out of a collapsible, duel set of jaws. The massive, crocodile-esque titan dubbed Raiju aggressively flexed her claws as her tripartite jaws folded out to reveal her small, thinly armored head. The airports workers and travelers, once screaming and fearing for their lives, fell into an eerie silence as a massive kaiju took a step forward, the ground beneath shuddering as he moved. Pavement was crushed my the multi-thousand ton weight as the leviathan, unaffected by Raiju's threat display, took a deep breath and loosed his own call. The roar carried for miles and could have effortlessly drowned out the sound of any thunder. The long call droned on, the kaiju's epiglottis rumbling and thumping. The fight between Godzilla, the King of the Monsters, and Raiju almost ended before it had begun in that very moment. -Ponyville- Rexy, after having finished her conversation with Obsidian, sat down to relax on the couch, glancing over at her loudly snoring husband with a slight grumble. She was a light sleeper, as a result of her predatory instincts, and dealing with Obsidian's snoring was frequent. Taking her best attempt at ignoring the noise, Rexy shifted her gaze up to the television screen as a weather stallion went on about the possibility of a thunderstorm on Saturday. The unicorn mare sighed at the knowledge of this. She was now almost forty, nearly fifteen years older than any Tyrannosaurus is supposed to be, as a result of her equestrian body not having all of the same health problems as her true form. Rain was certainly not something that would help her predicament. Just as she was about to wake Obsidian and inform him of the predicted weather, an emergency broadcast came up on the tv, forcing her to hold her tongue. "Godzilla Versus Raiju! Living Hurricanes Collide in Neighpon!" the headline read, eliciting a raised brow from the former dinosaur. Rexy paused in her actions and watched as a news reporter became visible upon the screen, worry visible upon her expression and in her tone. "Just last night, two kaiju came together in the Tokyo Bay Airport, where they came under conflict and cancelled hundreds of flights from Tokyo, Osaka, and other large cities in Neighpon. Neighponese residents are calling the two kaiju Godzilla and Raiju. Though the airport was evacuated, dozens were lost to the wreckage." The unicorn mare cocked a brow as she propped herself up. "Earlier in the day, a hiker on Mount Fuji managed to catch several photos of the one dubbed Godzilla before he allegedly fled the mountain. After running to the nearest home in a state of delirium, the hiker was brought to a hospital, where nurses claim to have heard him muttering the phrase "King of the Monsters" in his sleep." The mare paused in her speech to catch her breath before continuing. "Princess Celestia will be hosting a board meeting to find the proper means to solve the problem, and has called upon the Anti-Megalosaurus Force to try and stop Godzilla before he causes anymore damage. Raiju has not been seen since retreating into the sea... Solar Beam reporting for Equestria Daily. Spirit Wing, back to you." Rexy swiveled her head at noticing the lack of snoring that had previously filled the room, seeing that Obsidian's face was a ghostly pale. "What?" Obsidian gulped and sat up before hesitantly replying. "My parents were the last ones to fight Godzilla... This relates to me somehow. I just don't know how yet. You remember Captain Gordon?" the dusty brown pegasus asked, straining to remain calm in the situation. "Yeeeah... He let us stay with him while I was pregnant with Midnight." Rexy furrowed a concerned brow. "What does this have to do with him?" the broken horned mare questioned. Her husband paused in his speech, almost as if trying to wordlessly backpedal his way out of the situation. The words came shortly after. "Y-you know what. It... doesn't really matter," Obsidian stammered slightly, waving a hoof at the mare and rolling his eyes. "Tell me," Rexy said flatly, deadpanning as she stared into his eyes. The pegasus felt his will to resist the heavily built mare crumble before he sighed in exasperation. "W-well, chances stand that he's going to show up and request our aid. You, being a dinosaur, are probably going to be of use in the conflict that is probably to come," Obsidian said, grimacing as he prepared to feel Rexy's wrath unleash itself upon him. He was shocked by a simple, calm answer. "No... I left Celestia's guard because I wanted to change. I have the family I wanted for the last two decades and I'm not going to say goodbye to it because of some Equestrian war," the striped mare said with a shake of the head. "I'm done with the violence that I'm capable of causing." "Okay," Obsidian replied, looking into her eyes before leaning forward and kissing her snout. Author's Note Kuso: Japanese for damn //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Two: The King... Has Returned //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Two: The King... Has Returned -Canterlot- Captain Douglas Gordon was running fast enough that Colonel Obsidia had to fly to keep up with the stressed earth stallion as he skidded around a corner, nearly colliding with a butler in the process. "Sorry!" Obsidia called to the butler as he angrily adjusted his suit after having accidentally knocked a tea kettle from a cart. The unicorn's mustache twitched as he leaned down to clean the mess, all whilst the colonel beat her wings as fast as she could to maintain a steady pace with the former MechaGodzilla and Gotengo pilot. At long last, the dirty brown earth stallion slowed to a complete stop before a pair of large doors, his breath coming in short gasps and face bright red. "How do I look?" the stallion asked his friend as he buttoned his oil stained, well weathered trench coat. "You would look a hell of a lot better if you'd get rid of this filthy coat and go buy a new one," Colonel Obsidia acknowledged flatly, adjusting the collar of his coat. Captain Gordon smiled slightly before pulling his weapons from sheath and holster and handing them over to the pegasus. "Thanks... But I think I'll pass. This coat and I have a history," the military leader replied before catching Obsidia off-guard and pulling her into a lip-lock. The mare dropped his katanas and gun in her shock before swiftly pulling away. "You sneaky bastard!" she giggled before retrieving the weapons. "Try not to end up magically forced against a wall, this time," Colonel Obsidia snickered, giving the best salute that she was able with an armful of swords and a gun. "See ya, Sweetheart," Douglas smirked, tipping his hat before pushing open the twin doors with an effortful grunt. Upon entering the room, Gordon was greeted with a relieved smile from Princess Celestia, a couple looks that he registered as glares, and some raised brows. "Captain... I'm glad to find that you were able to make it," Celestia said with a nod. "Good to be here, Princess," he acknowledged before making his way to a seat. Upon doing so, the earth stallion spoke. "As I'm sure you are all aware, Godzilla has finally decided to make his grand return... Now, that wouldn't be so bad if the Breach wasn't also producing its own monsters," he started. "Raiju made landfall in Tokyo Bay, decimating its ports, planes, and ships. Godzilla arrived just long enough to force it back before falling back into the ocean." "What are you implying, Captain?" Commander Hurricane, a reformed pegasus veteran, questioned. Captain Gordon waited a moment for a dramatic build up before acknowledging. "Godzilla's back, which may have triggered the return of numerous other kaiju in Equestria and the rest of Equus. We can't take unnecessary risks, Commander." Princess Celestia contemplated the thought for a moment, a hoof to her chin. "What unnecessary risks are you referring to?" "We cannot wait until the Kaiju are on top of us like we did last time, Your Majesty. What took place with the destruction of Canterlot decades ago was an event that we could have stopped, had we been more vigilant," Gordon stated. "What I think, is that we should find and record what kaiju remain here on Equus and act. Rather than find them and ignore their presence, we need to act upon our discovery." "A sound strategy, but who is capable of acting like you suggest?" the equine form of Queen Novo queried skeptically, cocking a brow and staring firmly at the captain. Gordon smirked at her mistrust for a moment. "Majesty, your caution is misplaced. It was I who trapped Godzilla prior of the Final War, remember?" "Regardless, who's to say that you can be trusted? You, if I recall, were placed under military confinement for striking a superior officer, and were only released when Zilla had invaded Manehattan," she retorted. "I understand what you are capable of and believe that you can do it, but my trust in you is still lacking all the same." Commander Hurricane spoke again. "I trust you, Captain... With my life. But I don't think that you can do this alone." "I completely agree, Sir. Do you recall that a few years back, we made a certain somepony an official resident of Equestria?" Douglas said, smiling behind his mustache. "She can-" "Absolutely not," Queen Novo barked, cutting him off. Princess Cadence, sitting beside her husband Shining Armor, nodded in agreement. "I agree with Queen Novo on this one, Captain. It was her sister, with King Sombra's help, that tried to kill me and take my kingdom for herself. "I don't trust her anymore than I do One Eye." "Princess, she is not One Eye, though... You are a ruler of love! Show some compassion and live up to your reputation. Rexy is more than capable of the strength necessary to pilot the Gotengo, or even one of the MechaGodzillas!" Gordon retorted, making his best attempt at remaining calm in spite of the rising imbecility in the room. "Captain," Celestia interjected. "Rexy is reckless... She is also untrained and runs purely off of instinct in stressful situations... I cannot allow it." Gordon scoffed. "And why not? what about when that was me sitting in the cockpit. You gave me that chance to fight for my country and the ponies I love, and I was just as reckless as she... Why is Rexy any different?" the stallion chastised, cocking a brow and pointing accusingly at Celestia. "She is not Equestrian... She is not a pony. She is a dinosaur and uses the fight or flight response in situations. She is not intellectually ready to take on a task such as this," Princess Celestia acknowledged, the urge to throw Gordon at a wall becoming apparent as he pointed. "Then pray tell, Your Majesty... What, aside from my race, made me any different?" The creamy white alicorn mused quietly as her subjects and several of the royal beings looked back and forth between her and the unruly earth stallion. Equestria is a place for second chances, she thought before a defeated sigh slithered from her nose. "Very well. Rexy is a strong being and, in some cases, royalty... Your request has been granted," Celestia finally said, eliciting a smile and chuckle from Gordon. "Well, in that case," a heavily aged voice started, causing the celestial alicorn to look up and notice Starswirl the Bearded. "I think it's about time... to bring in... the Unicorn Wizard," the unicorn said with a smile before a more heavily built, but still relatively short, stallion followed him into the room. The jagged horned, violet and pink Dimetrodon walked in with a smile and bow. "I stayed in Equestria with the vow to watch over Rexy while she enjoys life... I volunteer to help her learn to control her strengths and weaknesses so that she may be more efficient in the protection of Equus and its residents." "Rise, Unicorn Wizard... While I appreciate the offer, you are also not Equestrian and therefore, I deny your request," Celestia stated whilst the former synapsid lifted himself up. "Is there any here who will volunteer to teach Rexy how to control her aggression and strength so that they may be beneficial to us all?" she called out, her view scanning over the rows of ponies. She received her answer with the raise of a purple hoof. "Your Majesty," Twilight Sparkle started with a smile. "I would be honored to teach Rexy for the aid of Equestria," the teenage alicorn grinned. The thought of working with an animal long thought to be extinct still, even after almost twenty years, excited Twilight. And seeing as Rexy was the first living dinosaur she'd ever met, the mare thought it a good matchup. And while she liked the thought, her friends were... less than enthusiastic. In unison, all six (five ponies and a dragon) of her best friends looked at her like she had three heads and spoke the same word. "What?!" Captain Gordon chuckled at the scene before nodding. "One of the most efficient magic users in Equestria? Sounds good to me," he stated with a shrug, though the rest of the Mane Six didn't like the idea. "It's crazy enough that it might work," Princess Cadence agreed. With that, Princess Celestia smiled and nodded. "She is strong enough to defend herself from Rexy, should she grow too aggressive. Twilight, I grant your request, just as I have granted Gordon's." -Tokyo Bay, Neighpon, the Night Earlier- Godzilla bellowed into the night, trudging forward with his claws splayed as Raiju faced her adversary. Ushering a shrieking hiss, Raiju dropped to all fours and charged the leviathan, tripartite jaws unhinging to reveal her smaller head as she moved. In response, the massive grey kaiju stopped, bending his knees slightly and threateningly peeling back his lips to expose rows of serrated teeth. The warning did not cause Raiju to yield, for she continued forward. With another shriek, she leapt towards her foe, dodging the swinging claws and clamping her jaws down on The Ancient's thigh. Godzilla bellowed into the night before he leaned down and fished his claws underneath Raiju's jaws. Growling in slight pain as his palms were sliced into by the serrations of her teeth, the Alpha Predator yanked at her jaws and pried her off of his leg, lifting her now thrashing body into the air by the head with bulging muscles. Raiju hissed in slight fear as her foe grabbed her spine with one hand and heaved her over his head. An effortful grunt carried out before Godzilla hurled her away, where she slammed into a communications tower. The building collapsed on top of her with a series of explosions before blue lights trailed up the kaiju's tail and spine, where it transitioned to his eyes and gaping jaws. As the glow reached its zenith, Godzilla inhaled before unleashing his thermonuclear ray at the rubble of the com-tower. Raiju shrieked in pain as radioactivity was poured over her body. Thick, diamond hard scales protected her from death, but not without severely burning her hide. Erupting from the pile of debris with an agonized shriek, Raiju dove for the water as swiftly as a 3.5 thousand ton kaiju was physically able, a sprout of steam rising from the waves that she created in the process. Godzilla shifted his glare to the area in which his foe escaped from, a sneer forming upon his lips before he threw his head back with a triumphant bellow. With that, the King of the Monsters scanned over the temporary battleground, a heavily damaged airport, before turning his back on the city and almost lazily collapsing into the ocean. The battle had been short lived, but did not go without significant damage to property or loss of life. -Space- The triple crested being sat in silence, tentacle-like appendages covering his chin as he was lost in thought. Raiju, one of the Precursors' many kaiju to have surfaced, had failed, being driven back by a massive, charcoal grey leviathan whose flame had rendered the heavily armored titaness defenseless. A loathsome sneer twisted across Commander Rhizon's face as he contemplated his next course of action... Starting first, with getting rid of Godzilla... -Redwood Residence, Ponyville, One Day Later- Obsidian's snoring droned on with the sound of the air conditioning blowing cool air through the mobile home, much to the chagrin of his spouse, who was currently busying herself with the cleaning of dishes that she had grown to get used to as a stay at home dinosaur. Sure, she'd learned some civility over the years, but that didn't mean she liked dealing with the responsibilities of a sentient being. Normally, her species was taught how to fight, hunt, and survive and that was as complicated as things got. Growing accustomed to an Equestrian life had proven to be a challenge, as these were wired into her brain. The idea of Equestria's mothers doing housework was something that had been more than confusing to Rexy, but she had managed it just fine. Being elbow deep in hot, soapy water whilst her 'mate' slept was a completely different story, however. Withholding an exasperated roar, Rexy grumbled to herself before she heard the telephone ring loudly in her ear. You can handle this, she thought before speaking. "Obsidian!" she hollered with a growling edge on her voice, instantly startling the pegasus from his sleep. "Take the dinosaur, not me!" Obsidian shouted as he jerked up with wide eyes. The broken horned mare rolled her eyes with a scoff. "Phone," she snorted, returning to the dishes. Once his shock had worn off, the pegasus tiredly rose from the sofa with a noisy yawn, where he lifted the phone from the receiver and spoke. "Hullo?" he queried, ushering another yawn. "This is Captain Douglas Gordon. This is an urgent matter, is Rexy home?" a deep voice asked, unaware that it was Obsidian was who had answered the phone. Upon hearing the voice, Obsidian perked right up, his ears flicking to attention. "Captain Gordon?" he grinned. "That has been established?" he heard. "Captain, it's me! Obsidian!" "Oh! Hey, Knucklehead... How're ya doing? Is Rexy home? This is about that incident involving Godzilla..." //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Three: Messenger //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Three: Messenger -Redwood Residence, Ponyville- "... She's been requested to come to Canterlot by Princess Celestia," Gordon acknowledged, surprise at Obsidian's words that morphed into sullenness evident in his tone of voice. Before the pegasus stallion could respond, Rexy snatched the phone from his hoof. "NO," she said sternly before hanging up with a firm glare. Turning to Obsidian, she noticed that he wore an unamused expression, his arms crossed. "What?" she grunted with a shrug. He didn't answer. "Obsidian, I told you: I'll not fight a war that has no bearing on me!" she barked. The pegasus merely snorted. "No bearing? Do you think that's what my parents and your step-parents said when they were pulled into Final Wars?" He continued before she could acknowledged. "No, they fought to protect their home! Which is your home now, Rexy," he scolded, pointing accusingly at the former Tyrannosaurus rex. "If this is a war you don't want to fight, fine. But think about it before you take the phone from somepony's hoof next time." Rexy, in a rare moment of contemplation, considered the idea for a time before acknowledging. "Alright," she said, just as the telephone conveniently rang in that time. Lifting the phone, she spoke. "Rexy here," she muttered, this time in a much more calm tone of voice than she'd used previously. "I take it Obsidian chewed you out?" Gordon's voice asked as the stallion in question fixed himself a cup of coffee. "Indeed," the mare replied, glancing over at her husband. "Good... In a time where kaiju are beginning to run amok, we need something like that." "Captain, what is it exactly that you want?" Rexy grunted, impatiently tapping a hoof as she curled the phone cord around her hoof with the other holding the telephone itself. She heard a softer, background voice for a moment before the captain himself responded. "We need your fighting skills. You've fought similar creatures before, which has given you the practice we need to hold the kaiju back. You're also physically stronger than most of us, which will allow you to handle the stresses of piloting MechaGodzilla-" Rexy cut him off. "Firstly, I was one of those big creatures when I fought. Secondly... MechaGodzilla? I'm not piloting anything. I don't even know the first thing about piloting anything!" she barked. "Training is provided. And it doesn't matter what you were when you fought, you did it, and you did it well enough that Princess Celestia thinks it's useful. If you can do this," Gordon paused in his speech for a moment. "Princess Celestia has offered to get Midnight into the School for Gifted Unicorns." With that, Douglas stopped talking, waiting for a response from the larger-than-average mare. Rexy sighed, closing her eyes and shaking her head. Turning slightly, she noticed Obsidian nodding slowly, a smile on his face. Evidently, he'd heard the last part of the military captain's speech. "Alright," Rexy sighed. "I'll do it. But what kind of training will I be going through, exactly?" "The usual, emergency procedures, funeral arrangements, so forth," she heard him shrug. "The MechaGodzilla unit you'll be piloting isn't exactly safe for your average pony." The former dinosaur's eyes went wide at the first part of his acknowledgement. "What?! Funeral arrangements?! And how is the unit not safe?! I had heard that it was plated with some kinda fancy metal?" she rambled, panic growing on her tone. A panic that Gordon picked up on. "Don't worry! It's plated with a gold titanium alloy and can absorb radiation to harness it as a power source. We designed it to handle the stresses of handling kaiju, for God's sake! And also, you're not the average pony. We tried to test pilot the MechaGodzilla and the pilot who was using it passed out in the cockpit and came out with a non-impact related nose-bleed. It's difficult to control and we need somepony strong to pilot the sucker," Captain Gordon explained, though unaware that he wasn't doing much to calm his audience's worries. At this point, Obsidian was ready to jump in and make sure that the dinosaur suffering from PTSD, as a result of being trapped in a cage and fighting for her survival, wouldn't pass out. Swiftly taking the phone from her hoof, the pegasus spoke. "OKAY, Doug! That's enough. I thought you knew that she's not as tough as she used to be?" "What? Obsidian, she's the toughest pony we know! That's why we're involving her in this!" Gordon barked back. Leading Rexy to the couch, Obsidian replied. "She grew up in a laboratory and was forced into a cage that people stared at her through, remember?" he chastised. "Oh... Right. What would you have us do then? Godzilla is loose and needs stopping. His reemergence has woken kaiju across the globe and Rexy is the only one, aside from the princesses, who can handle the new MechaGodzilla." Obsidian entertained the thought for a moment and looked over at a still shell-shocked Rexy. "See if we can call up a conference first... Rexy needs to know exactly what's happening and she needs to be told in person," he answered. "Should I involve One Eye in this?" "NO!" Gordon shouted over the phone. "No... One Eye is still not trusted by any of the princesses right now. She might've stopped Omega, but that hasn't completely redeemed her," the earth stallion acknowledged. "As for the press conference, we just had one to decide who was fit for the job. You're saying you want another?" "Yes..." "Well, alright. I'll see what I can do." "Thanks, Doug." "See ya around, Knucklehead." With that, there was a click on the opposite line. With a deep exhale, Obsidian returned the phone to the receiver and sat beside Rexy, giving her a reassuring smile. "Hey. I've called up a conference with Celestia so you know exactly what's going on," he assured the mare, running a hoof through her short mane. Rexy didn't respond immediately, but merely turned away. "I'm not capable of what they're asking for. A war that can't be won isn't worth fighting. If these 'kaiju' or whatever are really as powerful as you ponies make them out to be, than there's no point in trying to stop them, is there?" Obsidian chuckled. It never failed to amaze him that Rexy was so much smarter than the dinosaur stereotypes made her out to be. "Well, I wouldn't say that. You fought against Omega when it had been deemed 'unkillable' by your sister, right? You fought against Lilith, even though she nearly killed you. You had a kid too! Even when I thought you sterile! Baby, you're so much more capable than you make yourself out to be. For the queen of the dinosaurs, you beat yourself up a lot." "Living in a cage tends to do that," Rexy snorted as Midnight Ruby emerged from her room. Seeing her mother looking stressed elicited a fair amount of worry from the winged unicorn as she took a seat. "Mom? What's wrong?" Midnight asked slowly, eyebrows furrowed. "Nothing that you can help with," Rexy sighed. "I can try?" The unicorn looked over at her daughter's worrisome expression and begging eyes before a slight smile slipped across her muzzle. "That big lizard thing is back and Captain Gordon wants me to get into a giant robot to fight it back," she acknowledged, drawing out a wide grin from Midnight. "You get to fight Godzilla?!" she blurted, leaping to her hooves like a giddy filly. "That's so COOL!" "That's not what the last pilot said," Obsidian replied, causing her to almost instantly return to her previous demeanor. "W-what did the last pilot say?" she stammered slightly. "He couldn't handle piloting MechaGodzilla and passed out." Before Midnight was able to say anything more, there was a loud knock on the front door. Before anypony was able to get up and answer however, the door telekinetically swung open to reveal a hooded figure cloaked in shadow, an eerie laugh echoing out from under the hood. Rexy merely deadpanned. "One Eye, you're not fooling anyone," she grunted. "Dammit!" a feminine voice growled from under the cloak. Stepping inside and closing the door behind her, One Eye swept back her hood with a disappointed expression upon her face. Before she could say anything more, Midnight trotted up to her and wrapped her arms around the dinosaur's neck. "Hello!" the alicorn giggled as One Eye grinned and lifted the mare onto her back. "My, you've grown!" King Sombra's former ally grunted. "Like a dinosaur," Rexy snickered as Obsidian rose to his hooves. Obsidian gazed blankly at One Eye for a moment, his muscles tensing slightly, before he finally spoke. "Been a couple years... Where ya been?" the pegasus stallion asked. "Not performing satanic rituals. Cool your jets. As appetizing as you look, I'm not going to eat you," the mare snorted, rolling her good eye. Noticing the look of horror upon Obsidian's face, One Eye spoke again. "Holy Hell! I'm not going to eat you, chill!" Obsidian grumbled slightly before returning to his seat, where Rexy stood and approached her sister. "What're you doing here?" "Gordon told me about what happened. Apparently, I'm still scaring folks and apparently, you're also going to fight the one I've heard go by the 'King of the Monsters'," she explained. "Buuut, you refused the offer. What's wrong, Little Sis? Don't think you're tough enough to handle a god?" One Eye grinned mischievously. "Y'know what! I could probably fight that lame excuse of a king with one claw tied behind my back!" Rexy barked. "Uh, actually that would be hoof," Obsidian corrected, lifting a hoof slightly. Rexy snapped her head and gave her spouse such a glare that he actually cowered back slightly. "Your lips move again and I peel 'em off of your cold dead face," she growled menacingly. "Then do it," One Eye interjected. "Fight Godzilla with a claw tied behind your back," the unicorn mare grinned. At this point, Rexy was practically foaming at the mouth. "Oh-ho-ho! You bitch," she growled. "Mom! This is a child friendly story! No swearing!" Midnight interrupted, also lifting a hoof. "Do you want to lose your lips too?!" -Ponyville Train Station- Rexy grumbled quietly to herself as she boarded the train, following Obsidian, Midnight Ruby, and One Eye, who had elected to come with her to Canterlot after the boiling water of the earlier situation had cooled down sufficiently. She had been reluctant to agree, but after her sister's taunt, the mare wasn't about to back down to the challenge. It wasn't even in her nature to back down from a challenge. Making her way onto the train, the dinosaur mother shot a glare at the older two of the trio she was with. "C'mon, can't you at least fake a happy look?" Obsidian scoffed, rolling his eyes as he took her luggage and moved it to a compartment above them. On cue, Rexy replaced her frown with an extremely sarcastic, toothy grin, even for a dinosaur. Obsidian stared at her with a flat expression. "Uncalled for," the pegasus grumbled as Midnight and One Eye took a seat across from each other, both wearing an amused expression as they watched the married couple bicker back and forth whilst the train started moving. "Are they normally like this?" One Eye asked, looking down at her niece. She wasn't around often enough to understand the relationship to her brother-in-law and sister, so she was unaware of how they behaved as a couple. "No, normally they're all gushy and gross. Strange considering Mum's a dinosaur," Midnight grinned. "Well... This is highly amusing," One Eye smirked, looking back up at the duo. At the sight of her parents in their current state, the alicorn looked back on the events of last night involving dinner and began to laugh, much to her aunt's confusion. "What?" "Last night, I had eaten my dinner real fast and Mom asked if I had ever considered chewing my food." Midnight had to stop as she began to openly laugh, shaking her head as she snorted slightly. "S-so, when she did, I asked if they'd ever c-considered-" At this point, she might as well have been dying on the floor. "I-if they'd ever considered being more quiet at night!" One Eye's eye and socket became more visible as she withheld an internal uproar of laughter. The former dinosaur began to choke on her breath as she started laughing along with Midnight. "You're going to get your ass grounded so hard one of these days," One Eye chuckled. "Worth it!" Midnight giggled as the unicorn beside her pulled her close and began to grind her hoof into the alicorn's scalp. -One Hour Later, Canterlot- Rexy and Obsidian walked side by side, simply enjoying each other's company as they made their way up the stairwell that led to Canterlot Castle's entrance. One Eye and Midnight tossed a few jokes back and forth before the sight of a dusty brown earth stallion became visible leaning against the massive door frame. Obsidian smirked as the stallion lifted a hoof and waved, a smile visible under his bushy mustache as he stood up straight and approached. The pegasus noticed Captain Gordon's smile diminish and transition to a frown as he spotted One Eye, his pace slowing slightly. Upon reaching the group, Gordon leaned over, his gaze trained on One Eye. "What is she doing here?" the stallion whispered into Obsidian's ear. "She is not going to help in the council's trust of Rexy, you know?" he continued. "I don't know what she's doing here, but she's here. We're just going to have to deal with it for the time being." "Alright," the military leader said with a skeptical nod and shrug before looking to Rexy. "Welcome back, Your Majesty," he grinned, patting her shoulder before looking to her daughter. "You must be Midnight Ruby. Did you know that you were born in my apartment?" Gordon asked, leaning down slightly. The alicorn rolled her eyes with a slight smile. "Yes, I know," she acknowledged. Douglas smiled before waving the group inside. "So, I managed to get a meeting set up, as you know by the fact that you're hear. Obsidian, I tried contacting your parents, but they didn't answer my calls. One Eye, you are going to have to stay outside during the meeting. The royals in there are uncomfortable with your presence and would rather you didn't show," the stallion explained. "Still afraid of me, eh?" One Eye acknowledged with a flat chuckle. "Not me... The princesses... You tried not once, but twice, to kill Princess Cadenza and attempted to overthrow Canterlot at one point. They trust you about as far as they can throw you... And considering your-" Gordon paused and looked over at the unicorn slightly, noticing an threatening underbite developing upon her face. "-build... physically throwing you seems next to impossible." "Nice coverup," One Eye snorted sarcastically. Ignoring her, the earth stallion continued, stopping before a pair of double doors. "Rexy, don't say anything that might upset the royals. Obsidian, don't talk unless you are spoken to. And Midnight... Same to you... The press is waiting for you inside." With that, he pushed the doors open with an effortful grunt, where the family, sans One Eye, walked into the room before the doors were shut behind them. Leaning against the wall, Captain Gordon glanced over at One Eye, his eyes shifting over her muscular form and rugged build. If he had to admit, she looked good for a dinosaur... That said, he was currently seeing Colonel Obsidia, not to mention the fact that One Eye is significantly more aggressive than any mare he'd met in the past. She must've noticed his gaze trained on her, for she wore an unimpressed expression with a slight growl on her voice. "Enjoying the view?" Gordon snapped his head up and away from One Eye whilst maintaining a calm tone. "Not too surprised that monster's eyes were on ya," he said, referring to King Sombra. "You're built tough. Hard to find ponies like that nowadays." "I'm a dinosaur, Captain. I'm not built tough of my own accord, and I'm not a pony... So keep your beady little eyes off," One Eye grumbled with a squint directed towards the stallion. The tyrant queen may have turned a new leaf, but that didn't mean that she was, by any means, afraid to speak her mind. "Fair enough," Douglas nodded through a shrug before noticing that the glass eye, which had been enchanted to give One Eye her full sight, was missing from her socket. "Also, where's your eye? I thought that Celestia had worked to make it a more comfortable fit?" One Eye snickered. "Is this concern for a monster, Captain? Cute, but like I said..." With that, she leaned over slightly. "Keep your beady little eyes OFF!" Captain Gordon's ears flopped back against his head as the wind from the roar blew his mane away slightly. "Holy shit, One Eye! I got the gist!" the stallion snapped. The unicorn mare leaned away from him. "It wasn't comfortable." -Inside the Conference Room- "The MechaGodzilla unit is purposed strictly for anti-kaiju defense. It has recently been remodeled, as you are aware... But there were flaws in the system. The neural load is too much for a single pilot. It is also too powerful for two. Except for the fact that you are physically stronger and more resistant to its effects. This was determined by the x-rays that we took at your last annual," Doctor Jolt explained to the heavily built unicorn mare that was Rexy. "Captain Gordon may have explained that one pilot was enough, if it was you... Personally, I was never on the same page as Gordon and never understood his reasoning. Do you follow what I am saying?" Rexy wore a completely befuddled look upon her face. "Uuh... I'm sorry. You lost me at anti-kaiju... Would you run that by me again?" Doctor Jolt ushered an exasperated sigh before making his way down from the stand and approaching the mare. "You are a dinosaur, yes? Okay. Think about it like this. Two tyrannosaurs are hunting. Both have a role to play, right side and left side. Without one predator, the hunt can go awry. The single animal can get hurt. With only one pilot, the strain of piloting will hurt said pilot... You got me?" "Now I do," Rexy shrugged. The blue maned pegasus nodded. "Good. Now then, two pilots are required for left and right sides of the unit. Captain Gordon may not have been aware of the upgrades we made to the MechaGodzilla." "Sooo, you don't need me, you want me." "No. I couldn't care less about whether or not you pilot... But the world does. Rexy, they need you to pilot the MechaGodzilla. You are one of few capable. The others have been handling the neural load for far too long in the Jaegars. You though... You haven't." Jolt tapped Rexy's chest with the tip of his hoof with the words, swinging the other around her shoulder. "Help us... Help us eliminate the threat that you are a part of. You live here in Equestria, so fight for Equestria like you did all those years ago with Omega and One Eye." Rexy looked down at the stallion for a moment and then up at the ponies surrounding her. She could see Obsidian and Midnight smiling down upon her, she could see the skepticism upon Queen Novo and Princess Cadence's face, and she could see the reassurance from Princess Celestia and Twilight Sparkle. Dipping her head, Rexy responded. "Okay... I'll do it. Told I'm alive long passed my expiration date, so I'll keel over at any time, anyway," the unicorn mare chuckled dryly. "Who's my co-pilot?" Upon finishing her sentence, Rexy was shocked to receive a maraud of cheering from the ponies surrounding her. -Neighvada Desert- The bearded dragon tilted its head, the sight of a black cricket enticing the cold-blooded reptile into moving. Jaws widening ever-so-slightly, the lizard slowly crept towards the insect with slow, deliberate motions. Before long, the bearded dragon loomed over the cricket before its head darted down and a small crunch was heard. Lifting its head, an insect squirmed in the lizards jaws before it was chewed slightly and swallowed. Shifting back around, the lizard flattened its body against the scorched canyon rocks and lowered its head. The beard hadn't been resting for long before the earth began to shudder violently, a mechanical shriek echoing out from under the lizard. In a fit of panic, the reptile sprinted away. But not before a gargantuan sized metal scythe erupted from the earth and a series of red explosions like fire crackers rang from above. Rubble shifted as sea-foam green and gold became visible, the red glow of a cyclopean eye visible as well. Gigan ushered another shriek before clambering out of his rocky tomb, dust and rubble flying through the air as he moved. Shaking loose debris from his golden scales and green skin, Gigan fanned his three dorsal fans and slammed his medium-length tail against the ground to shake loose more rubble. Massive, scythe-like appendages lifted as Gigan clapped the cold flats of each blade together, loose stone falling to the ground. One last shake of his head, and the Nebulan creation looked to the sky, flexing his mandibles before lifting off. He had work to do for an unnamed master. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Four: Anteverse //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Four: Anteverse -Bottom of the Pacific- A massive, crocodilian tail swept back and forth as its wielder moved, bubbles of air erupting from the dinosaur's nostrils. The yellow glow of a rift, sandwiched between two tectonic plates, became visible to Godzilla, along with the black skin and tribal, pulsating markings of his kaiju foe. The monster king's lips curled back to reveal his serrated teeth as he swam forward, not content on allowing his foe to escape into The Breach, as the kaiju portal had been dubbed. Raiju, however, had other plans. Propelling himself towards the rocky ocean floor, Godzilla kicked against said surface with power far exceeding any other, the force giving the kaiju the speed to effortlessly catch up to the crocodilian titaness. Claws outstretched, The Ancient grabbed Raiju's tail just as she had entered partway into The Breach and roughly yanked her back, causing a surprised shriek to escape her jaws. With a bellow that seemed to shake the ocean, Godzilla grabbed hold of her spine like a vice, the force causing Raiju's thick armor to be pierced. In another swift motion that belied his tremendous size, the grey leviathan fished his claws between her tripartite jaws and began to pull one back. The Category 4 kaiju struggled against his grip to the best of her ability, thrashing her body and attempting a crocodilian death-roll. A panicked scream echoed out as Godzilla began to pull back against one of her three protective jaws, the crunch of exoskeletal armor audible as the jaw shell began to crack under the strain. Finally, with a growl, the Alpha Predator exerted enough power that the jaw piece was completely torn from Raiju's head. With the removal of her jaw, Godzilla now had to find a new foothold against the writhing crocodilian. Unable to do so as a result of said thrashing, Raiju darted away from his grasp, leaving a trail of Kaiju Blue in her wake. Tossing aside the skull piece, Godzilla gave chase, but not before an echoing bellow was emitted from The Breach. Swiveling his head away from his prey, The Ancient looked to see three separate kaiju emerging from the alien portal. Before Godzilla was able to react, links of what appeared to be metal sprouted from sockets laid meticulously across each kaiju's body, where they reached out to their doppelgängers and fused together. Shrieks, all of which sounded as though they came from Tartarus, echoed out as flesh connected with flesh until one massive kaiju stood between Godzilla and The Breach. The Mega-Kaiju, comprised of Raijin, Hakuja, and Shrikethorn, glared down at the monster king with ten eyes whilst its new adversary backpedalled slightly, as to put some distance between the two. The Mega-Kaiju, a hexipedal beast with two tails that had spear-shaped ends, arm carapaces on its two arms and four digitigrade legs, flexed jaw mounted tusks as it slowly moved forward. With a thunderous, otherworldly roar, the Mega-Kaiju moved towards his foe. -The Badlands Shatterdome- "Sir! Five signatures, above The Breach! Four Cat. 4's and a 5!" a Shatterdome employee shouted as said blips appeared upon the holographic map. The stallion squinted at the map for a moment and watched in confusion as two of the visible red dots disappeared. His expression morphed from confusion to horror as a new reading became visible. "No! A Cat. 4, 5, and..." He trailed off as the military leader in charge of the Jaeger Program came up behind him and dropped his gaze upon the map, leaning against the work desk. "A Category 8," Stacker Pentecost said grimly, finishing the worker's sentence as he stood back up. "Get the Jaeger's ready. I want Gypsy Danger and Striker Eureka ready in ten!" the deep brown stallion shouted as an earth stallion and pegasus mare approached. "What's the word?" Raleigh Becket asked his commanding officer, brows furrowing at the sudden call to arms. His co-pilot, Mako Mori, wore a synonymous look upon her face. Pentecost looked to the two with a stern expression. "Five kaiju just morphed into three and one of them is a Category. 8," he acknowledged. "We know one is Raiju and the other... The other is Godzilla... We've yet to name the big one." With that, he turned to walk away, but not before Becket's words chased him down. "Marshall!" Pentecost turned to face the Jaeger pilot. "We are talking about a Category. 8 and Godzilla. Two Jaegers are not going to cut it this time," Raleigh stated, trotting to his side. "Sir, listen to him. We can not go into a battle we are not prepared for," Mako Mori agreed, standing in front of her father figure. "The MechaGodzilla unit is not ready. The Neural load is too much and will kill the pilots before the kaiju even sensed them," Stacker Pentecost said firmly, but calmly, placing a hoof on Mori's shoulder. "We don't have a pilot strong enough to handle the unit." Becket retorted with an irritated tone. "Than you've sentenced us to die," he snapped. "Becket... Do not try my already limited patience," the stallion said, directing his view from Mako and transitioning it to a glare aimed at the pilot. "Sir! Incoming transmission from Captain Douglas Gordon!" the previous worker called before Raleigh had the chance to argue back his point. Pentecost looked to his subordinate for another moment before turning. "Bring it up," he ordered. On cue, a mustached earth stallion wearing a military cap and stained brown trench coat appeared upon the primary monitor. "Marshall... Been a long time," Captain Gordon said with a nod and slight smile. "No time for greetings though, as I'm sure you are aware of the arrival of Godzilla," he stated. "Fully... Captain, we have more pressing issues at hoof right now, though. A Category. 8 just emerged from The Breach, Godzilla's down there as well, and I don't have the means to force it back," the Marshall acknowledged. "Now then, I have that to deal with and this call is nothing more than a distraction!" "Marshall... Celestia didn't inform you, did she? The MechaGodzilla has a pilot," Gordon smirked. The brown earth stallion cocked a brow. "Who?" "Her name is Rexy. She's the only one capable of piloting the unit by merit of build. She's untrained, but I'm sure you can handle that, right?" "Yes, but I'm afraid we have three kaiju down by The Breach and we don't have the time to fit a trainee up for the situation... So what would you have us do instead?" Marshall Pentecost asked, beginning to grow impatient with the situation at hoof. "Godzilla is down there, no? He can act as a distraction. Rexy doesn't need any training right now, she runs off of instinct in battle. I'm actually on my way over to your location now with her family, Princess Twilight Sparkle, and Princess Celestia. ETA is about twenty minutes," Gordon explained. The earth stallion shook his head with disbelief. "Godzilla will not hold that thing off for that long. You haven't the time." "Try me..." -The Breach- The Mega-Kaiju lunged forward, lowering its skull and slamming into its smaller foe, the King of the Monsters. Godzilla roared in pain as his adversary hooked its massive claws around the kaiju's waist and began to swim upward, unaffected by the barrage of kicks that he delivered upon its waist. The Ancient lifted his hands and balled them into fists before repeatedly slamming them against the densely plated skull of his massive foe. The Mega-Kaiju bellowed in retaliation whilst curling its barb-tipped tail around and stabbing into Godzilla's thighs and shoulders, causing the water to be tinted with crimson. Godzilla roared in pain as the titan pulled its head back and jerked forward, jaw mounted tusks plunging towards the leviathan's heart. Just before impact, Godzilla shoved the kaiju's head away. The attack missed, but the edge of the right tusk grazed the God of Destruction's shoulder and gills, drawing out a pain filled bellow from the titan. Still struggling to escape, Godzilla became dimly aware of the fact that the duo were nearing the surface of the ocean, evident in the light surrounding their forms. His fight to free himself from the Mega-Kaiju was beginning to drain his energy. The monster king could feel the power escape his body as he fought. In one last attempt to fend off the alien, a blue glow began to grow outwards from the core of his body, eyes and dorsal plates beginning to burn with blue lights as his scales became outlined with the same bioluminescence. Grabbing onto the Mega-Kaiju's shoulders, Godzilla's lips peeled back and his jaws shook with the raw, building energy in his body. Not knowing what was to follow, aside from the probable negative results, the leviathan began to thrash, an attempt to escape being made. An attempt that Godzilla was not keen on allotting. Clenching onto the Mega-Kaiju's muscles more powerfully than previously, The Ancient allowed for the rising energy to cause the surrounding sea to boil with the intense heat, that same heat beginning to scorch his foe. After another moment of waiting, an explosion more powerful than thirty nuclear warheads rang out from Godzilla's body, eliciting an agonized screech from his foe. In that moment, an eruption of luminescent blue exploded out from the Mega-Kaiju's body, kaiju organs being completely crushed by the destructive force. Godzilla hovered, suspended in the water as his adversary's corpse floated to the ocean's surface. Ragged flesh peeled off of the creature's body, where it sank into the ocean depths along with dismembered pieces of armor plating. The Ancient's gills flexed noticeably as his chest moved in and out considerably. The nuclear pulse, the only surefire way for Godzilla to escape a foe, had succeeded in not only freeing himself, but killing his adversary. The Alpha Predator watched as a red kaiju with massive sails emerged from the depths, nostrils flaring. Titanosaurus, having been lured to the ocean's surface by the scent of blood, paused at the sight of her potential meal's executioner, a wounded, green-grey leviathan that hovered in the water, staring at her. The being, though looking more than a tad worn out, was not one that she had the desire to anger. Looking first at the completely destroyed kaiju carcass, and then the titan swimming beside it, Titanosaurus inched closer. Godzilla bared his fangs slightly as she approached, causing her to pause in her actions. Before long, she'd reached the kaiju corpse and had begun to feed, an immensely strong digestive system eliminating the toxins in the kaiju blood. -The Badlands Shatterdome- Marshall Stacker Pentecost escorted Captain Gordon and Rexy through the Shatterdome, smiling slightly at the awe that came from her husband, daughter, and the princesses. "Welcome to the Badlands Shatterdome. This is where Rexy and Miss Sparkle will be staying during the course of Rexy's training. However... Rexy's fighting skills are required now," he said, stopping and turning to face the group. "We received word that a Category. 8 kaiju and Godzilla are near The Breach. The only Jaeger capable of holding them off is the MechaGodzilla." "What? Marshall, we came to have Rexy trained and then put into a mech. Not the other way around," Princess Celestia retorted. "Your Majesty, with all due respect, respect and honor, I can't risk putting my ponies in the middle of a fray they won't return from. Rexy wields the skills necessary and so does the mech she's piloting," Pentecost acknowledged. Not appreciating being spoken of as though she wasn't a part of the conversation, the large unicorn mare in question spoke. "Excuse me, I haven't even been told who my co-pilot will be," she barked crossly. "I don't have the slightest clue how to even get ready to pilot the MechaGodzilla, let alone actually do it." "Rexy... You will be given a suit that your compatriots will help you into. It will allow you to connect with the unit. All of your motions will be mirrored by the robot, which means you and your partner will have to move in perfect sync. This is not really something that you can fail at, moving in sync, so I expect it shouldn't be too difficult," Captain Gordon explained to her. "That still doesn't explain who my co-pilot is! And where the Hell even is the robot I'm piloting?!" Rexy snapped, turning a 360 to find said Jaeger. Stacker put a hoof to her shoulder to stop her spinning and simply pointed. Upon seeing the unit, Rexy's jaw actually dropped to reveal her sharp teeth. The Jaeger, a gigantic, mechanical saurian, was plated with silver armor. The head, which was very box-like, was mounted to a thick neck and heavily built torso. The chest plate possessed a core that glowed the a luminescent white and above said core, MFS-6 was emblazoned upon a shoulder plate. The back and long tail were lined with batteries of geometrical metal plates with small glowing cores visible upon them. The legs and feet were built immensely strong, reminiscent of an elephant by merit of build. The eyes pulsed with a faint orange light that seemed almost like they were actually staring at her. https://camo.fimfiction.net/hUwl01_gGRdm3ZYpjwuWBWfKoD-QN8Uvy6j3gy9jPnQ?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpre00.deviantart.net%2F9b4d%2Fth%2Fpre%2Fi%2F2018%2F208%2F0%2Fd%2Fmfs_6__mechagodzilla__monsterverse_inspired_by_eatalllot-dcihnez.jpg "Whoa," Rexy finally said, lost for speech at that time. "Whoa, indeed," Gordon nodded. "This MechaGodzilla is unlike any other. It's Jaeger tech, but still possesses the attributes that distinguish it as MechaGodzilla, including but not limited to... an electrically charged chain-sword that emerges from the wrist joints and maser attack from the jaws," the earth stallion smirked. What she replied with was not what Douglas was hoping for. "And you think that I can pilot that? Why not one of the smaller, more manageable ones?" Captain Gordon gave an exasperated sigh as a response to her question. "Because, Rexy. The MechaG is the strongest Jaeger we have but you are the only one with the capabilities of piloting it," he groaned with an eye roll. "That aside, we need to get you suited up! Those Anteverse buggers won't kill themselves!" With that, he led Rexy forward. "Well, okay!" the large unicorn hiccuped as she was half pushed, half pulled along. "What?! Captain, she's not ready!" Twilight Sparkle spoke after shaking off her own stupor at the sight of the MechaGodzilla. "It's my job to help train her!" the purple alicorn called after them, trotting up to their side. "Sparkle... We haven't the time for one of your little lectures right now," Marshall Stacker Pentecost retorted as he walked by her, patting her shoulder without moving his eyes away from Rexy. Twilight's expression contorted into slight disgust. "I was assigned by Celestia to help her!" she barked. The Equestrian ruler in question glided over to the Captain and Rexy with a firm expression. "My pupil is right to be worried, Captain. I would suggest you take her advise before this little skirmish becomes something more," Celestia said in a calm tone. As was the case earlier, before anypony was given the opportunity to say anything else, the massive dome began to flash bright red. "The Mega-Kaiju has been killed. However, we have been made aware that Gigan was seen flying over the Neighvada Desert. Stations, everypony!" the intercom explained, the voice echoing throughout Shatterdome. "I believe you were saying something funny?" Gordon smirked to Celestia before pushing Rexy forward. "Okay, let's get you ready." -Ten Minutes Later Obsidian and Midnight stood beside the closed, vault-like door, waiting in anticipation for Rexy to emerge in the Jaeger suit that would connect her to the MechaGodzilla. Gordon also waited with them, but was currently busying himself with a holographic image of a strange looking spacecraft before him. Finally, the door handle turned and was pushed open, revealing a broken horned mare wearing a black and sky blue fighter outfit. Obsidian smiled upon seeing her exit the room and approached the mare with an impressed whistle The suit looked very reminiscent of future technology, and the pegasi's best guess was that the blue represented Godzilla's atomic breath and the black his scales. Either way, he was impressed by how nicely his spouse pulled the uniform off. "You look good!" Obsidian exclaimed, looking her over. Rexy smiled slightly as Marshall Pentecost followed her out. "She's suited up and ready, but her co-pilot needs to get ready as well. She's currently working on doing so and said she needed another five," Stacker explained. "Who is she?" Gordon asked. Even he hadn't been told who was going to be piloting with Rexy and was curious to know. "You will see," Pentecost smirked as he walked away, beckoning them to follow. -Five Minutes Later- Rexy walked into the cockpit of the MechaGodzilla unit, feeling a strange alienation at her surroundings. She could see through the eye sockets of the mechanical beast and could swear that she almost felt a heartbeat from the Jaeger. Looking down at the platform she was going to be mounted against, the mare shuddered at the red hot internal parts below the foot holds that smoked with the heat, looking like a giant monster ready to swallow her up. Following the rules instructed to her, the former Tyrannosaurus rex stepped onto the platform and stomped each heavily fitted boot against the grapples that were visible against the floor. With metallic clicks, the boots were fused with the right platform, where she felt a slight pressure against her back as a mechanical arm connected to her suit's spinal plate. A mechanical whir was audible as a voice chimed over the intercom built into the cockpit. "Alright, Rexy... Couple things you should know. One, you will be connecting through your mind with your co-pilot. Be warned, the first time doing this can be a bit rough but you can push through it, right?" Captain Gordon's voice queried. "I... think so," she shrugged, feeling the strain against her muscles as she did so. "Alright, get your helmet on and your co-pilot will be with you in a few seconds. She's on her way up now." "Good luck, Mom!" she heard Midnight's voice interject, eliciting a smile from the mare. "Love you, Babe," Obsidian joined. "I love you guys, too," the mare said, her smile only growing as she put her helmet on. It was a tad snug, but it fit sufficiently enough that she could get used to it. As Rexy took a deep breath with her eyes closed, she heard the heavy clomp of boots against the metallic floor. Flicking an eyelid up, she noticed none other than One Eye wearing a black and blue suit, a confidant smirk upon her face as she nonchalantly fitted herself into the floor locks. "Wondered where I was all those years?" she asked her sister. "A-actually, yes," Rexy spluttered in shock, turning to look at the unicorn with wide eyes. One Eye chuckled. "Thought I'd branch out after we kissed and made up. Fortunately, Marshall Pentecost contacted me and one thing led to another... Haven't piloted this sucker before, though," she explained, eyes roving over the cockpit so that she could get a feel for it. "Also, you're going to be in my head in about five seconds, so you'll be seeing some mystical shit," One Eye said. "Wait what?!" Before One Eye had the opportunity to answer, Rexy found herself combing through memories tinted strongly with a blue color. She could see the memories of her time on Terra as a T-rex, unfortunately including the hurricane that resulted in her first escape and all the times she was being tested on by Jurassic Park's scientists. She could also see her arrival to Equestria and found herself falling in love with Obsidian all over again. That was where things took a strange turn. She was now seeing One Eye's memories. She could see a large trailer being shoved through a muddy ground during a thunderstorm, a cliff looming overhead. She saw that same night, a tyrannosaur chick being moved over to her by humans. Rexy saw everything, the heartbreak, the meeting of King Sombra and creation of Omega... Everything. A sudden jolt through Rexy's body pulled her back to the present and elicited a gasp from the mare. She was soon aware of the fact that her vision was blurring slightly. Turning her head, Rexy could see through One Eye's helmet that she wore a dim, depressed expression. "That memory was never my fondest," One Eye said sullenly, looking at her sister. Before Rexy could reply, however, another voice spoke. "Alright, you two. Neural Handshake holding strong, vitals are good. Looks like you two are Drift compatible," Gordon's voice said. "Go kick some kaiju ass, alright?" //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Five: Neural Issues //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter Five: Neural Issues -Neighvada Desert- The mutant cyborg chicken screamed across the sky above the desolate desert, cyclopian eye roving over the landscape as he moved. Looking down Gigan noticed thick webs lining the canyon walls, eliciting some curiosity from the kaiju as he scanned the area. Deactivating his thrusters, Gigan fell towards the ground, feet aimed towards the earth below. With a deep tremor in the earth, the Nebulan creation swiveled his head, leaning over a cliffside to see the spider-webs that looked large enough to catch a kaiju... Made by a kaiju. As Gigan turned to move away and avoid becoming spider lunch, a thick rope of webbing shot towards him and attached to his hind leg. Shooting his view down, the kaiju was unable to react as he was pulled down and into the canyon, where he fell and collapsed against the powerful material. It bounced slightly, but Gigan didn't. He was stuck to the web. As he attempted to free himself of his bonds, Gigan could clearly see a massive, yellow striped spider with crimson eyes skittering across the webs towards him. Doubling his efforts, the cyborg was powerless to do anything as Kumonga unhinged its disturbing mandibles and spat a net of webs above Gigan. The webbing, upon falling, bonded to the webs surrounding Gigan and the cyborg himself, covering all but his head. Panic swept over the cyclopian creature as Kumonga stood directly above him, mandibles clicking in anticipation as the arachnid stared down at its prey. Green venom dripped from the spike tipped appendages and melted away at tiny fragments of webbing like acid. Powerful pseudo-claws glided across Kumonga's webs as it moved, eight red eyes string hungrily into Gigan's one eye. Looming over the kaiju, Kumonga hissed as it lowered its head. Just as the acidic jaws were about to make contact with Gigan's face, the Nebulan cyborg revved up his internally wired chest blade, cutting through the webs like butter. Kumonga hissed in agitation as Gigan roared out, jerking a scythe tipped arm from its binds and swinging at the spider with all the force that he could muster. Green blood spilled out as two of Kumonga's legs collapsed against the webbing. With a pain filled shriek, the arachnid reared back and slowly backed away whilst Gigan jettisoned his way out of the sticky prison. Just as Kumonga had turned to move away, however, a massive mech dropped from a set of spacecraft mounted cables before it... right on top of the hole that the spider kaiju was going to escape into. The cave collapsed under the pressure of the mech's tremendous weight, drawing out a panicked shriek from said spider. Turning slightly, Kumonga was stricken with fear at the realization that he was sandwiched between two robots. The MechaGodzilla, however, wasn't moving, its pilots still in shock at the sudden drop. "How bout some warning next time, eh?" One Eye barked as she and Rexy shook off their daze. "Sorry about that," Gordon's voice acknowledged with a chuckle. as he swiveled the Gotengo around and hovered over the three giants. "Rexy, how are you holding up?" One Eye asked her younger sister, turning her head to look over at the broken horned mare. Rexy didn't respond. Through the lens of her helmet One Eye could see that the mare wore a grimace upon her face, lips curled back to expose her sharp teeth and tears slithering down her cheeks. Rexy watched with a horrified expression as a Tyrannosaurus pulled down the cables of an electric fence. Loud snaps and screeching metal audible as the mare watched a small man emerge from a green and yellow vehicle before running to a jungle-styled bathroom nearby. Approaching a vehicle, Rexy ducked her head slightly to see a child, a young girl by the looks of it, wearing a terrified expression upon her face as she cried. "He left us. He left us!" The unicorn was jostled by a sudden tremor in the earth. Looking up, she noticed the dinosaur looking back and forth between the two land cruisers, lion-like growls rumbling from her throat. Slowly moving back slightly, Rexy watched as her past haunted her, a car roof being shattered and the vehicle itself being flipped. She was unaware of the faint voice that called to her. "Rexy! Rexy, stay with me! Rexy, it's just a memory! None of this is real!" One Eye shouted to her sister as Gigan and Kumonga stared at the unmoving Jaeger before them. She didn't see the kaiju or MechaGodzilla cockpit, though. She saw a thunderstorm and her shell-shocked sibling watching on in horror as a seven ton predator flipped a vehicle over the side of a concrete moat. The unicorn was pulled back to the present by a powerful slam against her frame. Looking up, she saw that Kumonga had just jumped at the machined and slammed into it as if seeking revenge for the loss of its cave. "Wha? What happened?" One Eye heard, much to her relief. "Oh, thank God!" the former dinosaur exclaimed with a heavy sigh. "One Eye, what in the name of Tartarus happened?! You're damn lucky Rexy restablized! Now get in there and make that bug bleed!" Gordon 's voice shouted. One Eye's response was... less than friendly. "Oh, fuck you!" she hollered as Rexy shook off her daze, lifting her hooves. One cue, the MechaGodzilla took a stance on the left. Rexy, noticing this, followed, forming a near symmetrical pose that pushed the Jaeger into a boxing pose. "You ready?!" Rexy nodded, brow set in determination. "Than let's make this fucker bleed!" she shouted as Kumonga leapt forward again. Swinging their right arms in perfect sync, the sisters caught Kumonga with a right hook, throwing the arachnid into Gigan and blowing off parts of its facial armor. The kaiju shrieked in pain as the soft flesh underneath the exoskeleton became visible. With an irritated, mechanical snarl, Gigan forced the dead weight off of his chest, where he leapt up and plunged his scythe into the open wound on Kumonga's head. The spider ushered agonized clicks and shrieks whilst struggling before its legs finally forced into a curl and the light in its eyes left it. With a sound like a sword being unsheathed, Gigan pulled his weapon from Kumonga's head and turned to face the new threat that faced him in the form of a titanium plated Godzilla. In a form of intimidation, Gigan clapped the flats of his blades together with a menacing shriek, where his adversary lifted its fists, tail swinging. "MechaG to Shatterdome, we found Gigan," One Eye said whilst the duo kept their gaze trained on the cyborg. "You also might want to keep any arachnophobes away from this place." "Understood, Major. Proceed with caution," Stacker Pentecost's voice acknowledged. "Yes, Sir... Rexy... How about some Kentucky Fried Space Chicken?" One Eye grinned, looking to her sister. The unicorn merely smirked, lifting her hooves in unison with the muscularly built mare. Momentarily unhooking a hoof from her connection plate, One Eye flipped up a cover and flicked the red switch underneath it, causing a jolt of energy to pass through the two briefly before the MechaGodzilla's dorsal plates began to emit a loud humming sound, a white glow passing over them as the eyes flashed bright orange. Both siblings took a heavy step forward, the MechaGodzilla shifting heavily as the glow from its metal plated fins increased in power. Gigan, realizing the oncoming threat, took to the sky before circling back towards the mechanical Godzilla, scythes splayed out and cyclopian eye glowing slightly. As the Nebulan cyborg dove down towards his target, a series of red plasma blasts bursted out from his eye, spreading like a shotgun blast before causing miniature explosions on contact with the titanium alloy that plated the Jaeger. In spite of the fact that the blasts were ineffective against his adversary, Gigan continued forward. Upon reaching the MechaGodzilla, the kaiju swung his long, scythe-like arms at the mech's torso, the shrieks of metal against metal audible and sparks flying off of the edges. Just as Gigan swiveled to get away, the mech lurched forward and grabbed hold of the sails that lined his back. Gigan shrieked in surprise as he was yanked from the air with a heavy tremor in the earth. As the glow emitted from the core on the MechaGodzilla's chest and spines reached its zenith, Gigan thrashed slightly, looping a scythe around and deflecting the Jaeger's clawed hand with it. With an otherworldly hiss, Gigan lunged towards his foe, the buzzsaw in his chest spinning rapidly as he swung an appendage at his rival's head. His aim proved to be effective, for the mech was thrown aside slightly. With a demonic, mechanical laugh, Gigan swung his scythe down, only for a metal hand caped with serrated claws to grab his weapon as it came down. Using the Jaeger's strength to their advantage, the two saurians worked to slowly force the single, elongated claw away and glare at the green and gold kaiju. One could almost see the surprise cross Gigan's face as a long saber shot from his foe's free wrist, crackling with electricity before being plunged into his robotic heart. Gigan's limbs fell slack as the light diminished from his eye, black oil dripping from the stab wound. "Think it's dead?" One Eye asked from inside the cockpit of the massive mechanical leviathan, staring into the lifeless eye of the duo's foe. "Only one way to find out," Rexy smirked from behind her helmet. With a swift, smooth motion, an explosion rang out from the electrified sword, the shockwave blowing the lifeless Gigan across the canyon. Slamming into a mountainside, boulders began to roll down from the base of the mountain, completely burying Gigan's head and torso. "Now it's dead." Rexy shifted a smirk over to One Eye as an assuring voice came over the intercom. "Nice work, you two. However, no time to celebrate. Rexy is needed for questioning," Stacker Pentecost's voice said in his characteristic deep tone. The two siblings shot each other a questioning glance, sharing a shrug that the MechaGodzilla comedically joined in on as a result of the synchronization between the two. One Eye sucked in a breath. "Think it's about the zone out?" "The what?" Rexy queried, cocking a brow at the unicorn dinosaur. "Earlier... You were zoned out. You don't remember? It was after we landed, you were having flashbacks to the first visitors of your old enclosure... During the storm?" One Eye stated, confusion taking hold of her mind as she gazed to her sister. Rexy, in turn, wore a look of surprise upon her face. "That wasn't real?" -The Badlands Shatterdome- "What in the name of Tartarus happened back there?!" Captain Douglas Gordon shouted as Rexy and One Eye approached him, both carrying their helms by their side. "Rexy, you were doing fine up until the landing! Why?" the stallion chastised, throwing his hooves up to the sky above. Before Rexy could speak, One Eye did. "First Drift's are rough, Captain... She was just having a hard time dealing with it in the moment," she explained, holding up a hoof to quiet the military captain. "What?! Major, she was doing plenty fine before, no side effects of the Drift, nothing but focus! Why when she landed?!" Gordon barked back. "Ever try putting somebody with a mental disorder into a 90,000 ton robot?" Rexy interrupted. Gordon wore an entirely confused expression. "What are you talking about?" One Eye groaned and rolled her good eye. "Rexy is one, untrained. And two, she has PTSD because of her life on Terra." With that, she looked down at Captain Gordon. "That's what she was experiencing. She was having a flashback to one of her first times with humans," the large unicorn explained. The earth stallion sighed and dipped his head. "I apologize. I hadn't realized the possibility that that might effect her performance." "No," Marshal Stacker Pentecost's voice interjected. "I'm sorry. I was completely unaware of Rexy's condition. She is clearly unfit to pilot a Jaeger, let alone the MechaGodzilla," he said as he moved towards the trio. "Marshal?" One Eye queried, cocking a brow as she turned to face the stallion. "Major, Rexy is no longer a pilot of the MechaGodzilla," Pentecost stated, eliciting a disbelieving expression from both Gordon and One Eye. One Eye coughed slightly. "That's a joke right?" "Do I look to be in a joking mood, Major?!" Pentecost roared in her face suddenly, actually causing his subordinate to flinch slightly as he stood on the tips of his hooves to match her height. "Rexy! You will return your Jaeger suit to my office immediately!" the marshal growled as he backed away, glaring at the trainee before turning to walk away. "I don't know where your office is!" Rexy called after him. Pentecost didn't acknowledge the heavily built unicorn. Rexy ushered a quiet sigh and wore a slightly sullen expression before an off thought crossed her mind. "One Eye?" "Hm?" her sister replied as she turned to walk off. "Why didn't you tell me you had a son?" The words froze One Eye's muscles like ice mid-step, her eyes wide in a state of visible surprise at the question. Lowering a hoof that hovered half-suspended in the air, the mare turned to face the former Tyrannosaurus. "It wasn't something that needed telling... He's a memory that I'd rather not spend my time dwelling on." "Is he the reason that you tried repeatedly to kill me?" Rexy barked, leaning back on her haunches and crossing her arms. "Tell the truth, One Eye." The mare in question sighed. "He is... You had what I lost and it hurt me to see that. Your Spinosaurus friend was the reason that I ever had to deal with that loss, Rexy. I found my son dead in a forest with the featherless chickens picking at his carcass," the saurian replied defensively. "You could've been a part of what I had, One Eye! You never had to seek revenge against me for the loss of a son at the claws of Cleopatra!" Rexy snapped, rising to her hooves and pointing accusingly at her sister. One Eye lowered her skull and closed her eyes, a droplet of water falling from the corner of her eye. "Are you happy now?" she questioned sullenly, looking back up with a flat expression upon her face. "You happy that I had to relive my biggest fear all over again?" "You didn't need to if you'd just told the truth from the start," Rexy acknowledged, devoid of emotion. "Now then, I need to find the Marshal's office. One Eye simply pointed. -Five Minutes Later- "Rexy, do you realize what you experienced back when you were fighting Kumonga?" Marshal Stacker Pentecost asked the unicorn mare in question, placing his elbows against the metal of his desk as he put his hooves together. Rexy shrugged. "It was just a flashback, Marshal. Nothing more, nothing less." "Tell me about this... 'flashback'," the dark brown earth stallion replied. The dinosaur-turned-unicorn grumbled under her breath. "It was from when I lived on Isla Nublar years, maybe decades ago. I don't know, time is a blur. It was from a time when I was in my true form... The first time I'd killed a sentient being..." "Go on." "There was a thunderstorm and the normal energy I felt going through my fence was gone. So I broke it down and saw two vehicles. There was a light going through one of the vehicles and I reacted," Rexy paused. "The strange part was that the flashback was not through the eyes of my past self... I was there... as I am now. I could see the fear that was on the humans' faces as my past self attacked them... It was a memory I'd hoped to leave behind after I changed, and I was forced to see it happen from the victim's perspective," she spoke, beginning to grow hateful towards herself. Stacker merely nodded. "It's common for first-time pilots to experience this. Unwanted memories coming back to haunt them in The Drift. One of the pilots for Gypsy Danger had one such flashback and nearly destroyed this place," the Marshal told her. "With time, though, she became one of my best. I want you to use this as a lesson. You may keep your suit, as you showed exceptional battle skills during your fight." Rexy cocked a brow. This was almost a different stallion than she'd seen about fifteen minutes ago, but she wasn't going to question it. "Dismissed," Pentecost said when all he received from the mare was a confused look upon her muzzle. "Dinosaur, remember. I don't know what that means," Rexy deadpanned as she tapped her temple with a hoof. Stacker nodded in understanding. "It means you can leave now." -Neighvada Desert- A large spacecraft hovered over the mechanical carcass of Gigan, looking like something straight out of a science-fiction film. It looked like nothing more than a slightly rounded off triangular platform that curved slightly, a humming port on the left side of the craft glowing slightly. With a beam of light that was emitted from the bottom of the spacecraft, Gigan's lifeless body was hovered up, the boulders burying his head rolling away to reveal that it was near completely crushed. Slowly, particles came off of the Nebulan cyborg's body and hovered into the spaceship until Gigan was missing from below. With a mechanical whir, the craft tilted up slightly before rocketing from the area, leaving a trail of smoke as it exited Equus's atmosphere. Author's Note Yes, One Eye is the female T. rex from The Lost World, and yes, her son was killed by the Jurassic Park III Spino.
