If you are reading this I am gonna assume you have read PtH, if not I am not sure what you are doing here, but feel welcomed to do it anyway

While I do like Calm's original story I have always had a few problem with it. I think it is only natural that such a brobdingnagian stroy has a few flaws. Well, a lot actually. Although most of them are actually fairly minor, some of them are moderately disturbing, and a few are quite major. This story is about one of those.

Have you ever thought about what would have happened with the wonderbolt election process in Chapter 27 if Rapidfire had been present? The position was decided by the majority of the votes but if the whole lead squad is present that means four ponies, which could have lead to a tie. And this is just the most obvious problem with the system I could go on for some time if I were to enumerate them all. Clearly it had to be replaced.

But how could I replace it and still staying relatively faithful to the original? I chose to leave the idea of "the lead squad elects the new members" intact. However if somepony is missing from the lead squad, how could the three remaining members make an equally impartial decision as four? They can't. That is why it is compulsory to choose a substitute member, should this unfortunate event occur. And who could be better for the role than the most legendary drill instructor of the entire organization Silver Lining? However what Spitfire failed to take into consideration is, that when Silver Lining does something he makes sure he leaves a mark of some sort...

Credit giving time: I would like to thank Kestrel for his tremendous help with not only editing but helping me learn some much needed English grammar. Thanks to him you only have to put up it with my broken English in the descriptions and the author's notes section. :rainbowlaugh:
Also I would like to thank Foxenawolf for creating the pictures I used and ForestB for shaping them to my vision.
And last but not least (in fact, most) I cannot express how grateful I feel to Calm Wind for creating the original story, for his time to discuss it, for his approval, and most importantly for his patience to deal with me, and my quirks. It is not always easy. And it most certainly was not a smooth sailing this time either.
