Chapter 1: More Than Just Friends
"You look just GORGEOUS, Starlight!" Exclaimed Rarity.
"You've said that for the last TEN outfits, Rarity," replied Starlight, "and this 'outfit' is just a hat!"
The two mares were hanging out at the Carousel Boutique, trying on some of Rarity's dress designs. They had been together a lot lately, but only as friends. But one thing turned into another, and soon they were more than just friends.

There were a few experiences that brought the two closer together. About three weeks before Hearthswarming, the mares went to a club called "Every Night is Nightmare Night!" In the club, ponies got together and told the scariest stories they knew. During one of them, Rarity had gotten so scared that she started holding Starlight's hoof. Even after the scariest of the scary stories, Rarity continued to do this, and Starlight didn't even mind. Another day, Starlight randomly decided to hug Rarity, just because. That was the day the mares discovered that they might be more than friends, but neither commented on their realization. Their relationship really ignited, however, when they were under the mistletoe on Hearthswarming Eve. Rarity had worked up the courage to give Starlight a kiss, but she never brought it back up--never, that is, until the day they were in the Boutique, trying on some of Rarity's dress designs.
