Nothing Good Comes From Stars
Sweet, Sweet Memories
Load Full StoryAs I felt the needle puncture my skin I couldn't help but cringe. Those who said it was a rush as the liquid entered your veins. They are one hell of a liar. This fluid they put into my veins was to keep me calm and sleepy. But what they didn't know was that I was slowly building an immunity against that damn fluid. Like always I was strapped down and being tested on over and over. I was forced to stare at the ceiling and listen to some doctors and nurses chat away.
"He is doing fine." Said the first doctor. In reality, if they knew what I felt. They would be screaming every second of their miserable lives. I felt another needle enter my body and slowly I felt as if I was some sort of pin cushion. I looked out the corner of my eye and I saw a vial of blood being put into some sort of machinery and once again the doctor spoke.
"His vitals are changing each second. Get the guards in here and escort him back to his cell. We are done for today." The doors opened up and multiple armed forces entered the small room. I was slowly unstrapped from the table and helped up. I had a splitting headache and my body was sore from all the needles. Little by little I walked and eventually I made it to my room. The guard input the code and I was shoved into my cell. Due to my current body status I couldn't stop myself from slamming into the wall in time. I'll tell you now. Going face first into a stone wall is not fun.
"God damn assholes." I was very angry because it seemed like each day they were getting more and more rough with me. But I had started to get used to them. I threw myself down onto my bed and I slowly drifted off to sleep. The dream I had sounded all too familiar. I woke up to the sound of screaming and the smell of gunpowder. I used whatever energy I had to get to the door. A female conduit by the name of Josefina cracked the coding on my door and let me out. I had been leaning on the door and I fell onto my side. Josefina helped me to my feet and she put my arm around her and helped me most of the way.
"Come on Zero. You will be ok." Said Josefina as we slowly made our way to the entrance. What was going on was an invasion by the conduits who were outside and free. Most conduits who were free but got captured were killed on sight or sent to Curdun Cay where they would be tortured and tested on for as long as they live. Within inches of freedom Josefina took multiple bullets to her chest and we both fell down. My vision slowly faded with my last image being Josefina's eyes filling up with tears.
