“So, do you know when Shining is suppose to be back?” Twilight asked as she rummaged through her pantry to fetch refreshments for the picnic. “It’s not like him to be late.”

“I’m not sure,” Cadence said. “When he got up this morning, he said he had some business to take care of in Canterlot.”

“Canterlot? But that can take an entire day. Ugh, why does this always happen?”

“Now, now, Twilight, no need to get your mane in a knot.” She placed a hoof on Twilight’s shoulder, then smiled. “He’ll be with us, I promise. He’d never miss out on being with you.”

Twilight sighed before taking a deep breath. “You’re right. I just wish things would go as planned.”

“Well, sometimes in life things don’t always go as planned. Not everything can be perfect.”

Twilight rolled her eyes, albeit in a friendly way. “I know.”

“Mommy,” Opal Rose said as she jumped up and down. “When are we going?”

“Soon, little one. Just a little longer.”

“Okay. I’ll go get my stuff from my room.” With that said, Opal Rose left.

"Huh?" Cadence found herself staring at the clock again.

“Shiny, It’s not like him to be late.” Twilight smiled.

“Oh, I’m not sure...” Cadence shook her head. “When he got up this morning, he said he had some business to take care of in Canterlot.”

“Canterlot? But that can take an entire day. Ugh, why does this always happen?” Twilight rolled her eyes.

“Now, now, no need to get your mane in a knot.” She giggled and placed a hoof on Twilight’s shoulder, “He’ll be with us, I promise. He’d never miss out on being with his LSBFF!”

Twilight sighed before taking a deep breath. “You’re right. I just wish things would go as planned.”

Come on Twilight, I'm not going to see a checklist for how this picnic is suppose to go, am I?”

"Of course not!" Twilight huffed, "besides, I already went over it last night..."

Twilight's face flushed as Cadence gave her a knowing smirk.

Twilight rolled her eyes, albeit in a friendly way. “I know, I know... It's just we haven't seen each other in months, I don't want anything to go wrong.”

“Mommy,” Opal Rose said as she jumped up and down. “When are we going?”

“Soon, little one. Just a little longer.”

“Okay, I’ll go get my stuff from my room!” With that said, Opal Rose left.
