Confessions and Confusion
A warm breeze caressed the leaves of a sturdy apple tree. A sigh came out from underneath it, floating away on unseen wind.
Applejack stared up at the orange sky, wondering where the clouds had gone.
Maybe Rainbow Dash cleared them awa-
She stopped her train of thought, tears welling up in her eyes.
It was supposed to be a wonderful week.

"Hey Aj! What'cha doin'?" A raspy voice asked.
Applejack turned around and as she gave a mighty buck, apples fell from the branches and into the baskets underneath the tree.
"Nothin' much sugarcube. Just mindin' mah orchard here." She stretched out her neck and gave the pegasus an affectionate nuzzle.
"Heh. Okay, but just wanted to ask if you wanted to go to a cafe in town." Rainbow gave a sheepish smile.
Applejack raised her eyebrow in suspicion, but replied, "Alright. See ya at lunch?"
"O-okay! Sure! Um, bye!" The speedster rocketed off into the sky, with a strong blush on her face.
What's that pony up to now? The farmer wondered. She shook her head and went back to bucking the trees.
Meanwhile...
"Rarity! It's an emergency!" Rainbow Dash almost knocked the Boutique's door down as she rushed inside.
The elegant fashionista shut the door behind her and walked into the kitchen.
"Why, whatever is the matter dear?" Rarity asked from the stove.
"I kinda maybe sorta asked Applejack on a d-date?" Rainbow mumbled the last part, and Rarity's ears could not understand what she had just heard.
"You WHAT?!" She shouted in a most undignified manner.
The defiant Pegasus crossed her forelegs and plopped her fuzzy blue rump on the floor.
"Not telling you again." She pouted.
Rarity stared at her for a moment, then went back to the kettle, which was whistling furiously.
"Are you sure you don't want to tell me, darling?" She inquired.
There was a pause, then the quiet answer, "Fine."
The unicorn turned around, a full tea set and pastries in the grip of her magic. She walked over and placed them gently on the table, arranging them as she saw fit.
"Now tell me dear. What happened?"
"Promise not to tell any pony?"
"Yes dear. Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye-ouch." A white hoof was tenderly rubbing her eye when she motioned to continue.
"I've had a c-crush on Applejack ever since we met T-Twilight. Today I f-finally got the courage to ask h-her out." The poor pony stuttered as she confessed to Rarity.
Rarity's brain took quite a while processing this information. When she finally got it, she sprung up and squealed with glee.
"Oh Rainbow. This is the best day of my life! Finally, I get to exact my revenge upon you!" She dragged the unwilling Rainbow Dash into the dressing room.
Ominous screams soon started to make themselves heard.
