//-------------------------------------------------------// A Split Personality -by Random_MLP_Fan- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 - Two Personalities, One Mare //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 - Two Personalities, One Mare Pinkie Pie was a cheerful mare. A happy mare. A mare who loved parties and was smiling most, if not all, of the time. She loved to bounce around instead of trotting like most ponies. She was a great friend. Then, there was Pinkamena. A distant, quiet, sorrowful mare. Tears would often find themselves rolling down the sides of her cheeks. Lonliness corrupted Pinkamena to the point of insanity. Or, at least, close to the point of insanity. As a filly, Pinkamena farmed rocks. A boring job. She absolutely hated it, and got bored just thinking about it. She stood out from her family; she was the only one who saw a sonic rainboom while farming rocks one day. Seeing it changed her life. Pinkamena grew up to be the Pinkie Pie of today. The cheerful, happy Pinkie Pie. Although, Pinkie Pie did get sad sometimes. Sad enough that her mane and tail would become straight. Sad enough to snap and be close to going insane. Later, she'd end up with a cheerful smile and a puffy mane and tail again. Nopony knew why her mane and tail became straight when Pinkie was sad. Not even Pinkie herself fully understood. Until one day, her mane and tail became straight at other moments of her everyday life. Seemingly random moments. When that happened, Pinkie's personality became that of Pinkamena's. When her mane and tail became puffy again, her personality would be that of herself. Her happy self. Her normal self. Not that of her other self. Her other half. The half of her that stayed with her after becoming a full-grown mare. Whenever Pinkie looked in a mirror, the reflection looked like Pinkamena. Whenever Pinkamena looked in a mirror, the reflection looked like Pinkie. Whatever was going on, Pinkie had to figure it out. After a while of having ideas that turned out to be false, she figured it out. She had a second personality. A split personality. A second half. That second half was none other than Pinkamena. When Pinkie figured it out, she was confused at first. 'I have...two personalites?' She would think that to herself many times. When Pinkie's other half showed, it affected ponies around her. The other ponies were distant from Pinkamena. They somewhat ignored her, or maybe they just though that she'd finally go completely insane. But she didn't. No insanity. Only sorrow, lonliness, and even some built-up anger. Pinkamena often cried herself to sleep at night thinking about her loneliness. In the morning, she'd be her normal self. She'd be Pinkie Pie once again. Or, at least, she usually would. If her sorrow was too much, if her emotions were too harsh to handle...she'd stay Pinkamena for days, and maybe even weeks, at a time. Then, back to Pinkie. Back to happiness. But like they say, it's easy to fake a smile. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 - Memories //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 - Memories One week after Pinkie discovered she had two personalities, Pinkie wandered around Ponyville. Bouncing, she headed to Sweet Apple Acres. "Hi Applejack!" Pinkie said, calling to Applejack. "Howdy, sugarcube!" Applejack replied, happy to see her friend. "What're ya'll up to?" Applejack asked Pinkie. "Just chatting with my super-friendly-and-amazingly-awesome friends!" Pinkie replied, talking very quickly. "Chatting, huh? I'd love to chat, but I can't. I need to farm some apples. We can chat later," Applejack said. "What if I helped you with your apple farming? We can chat while we farm the apples!" Pinkie exclaimed. "Of coure ya'll can help, sugarcube," Applejack replied. The two earth ponies began farming apples. After a while, Pinkie's second personality, Pinkamena, appeared out of no where. Pinkie had become Pinkamena. Pinkamena stopped farming appless. "Hey, Pinkie, are-" before Applejack could finish her question, Pinkamena spoke. "Why do I have to farm apples? It reminds me of when I farmed rocks as a filly..." Pinkamena said, sadly. "Can't we do something else?" She asked. "I'm 'fraid not, sugarcube. We need to farm these apples for the apple family!" Applejack exclaimed. Pinkamena wouldn't listen. A few tears formed in the pink mare's eyes, and she galloped away while crying. 'No...not the rock farm...can't my memories be about something happy?!' Pinkamena thought to herself. Galloping all the way to Sugarcube Corner, she flung open the door. Mrs. Cake noticed the tears rolling down Pinkamena's face as the door flung open. "Is there something wrong, Pinkie?" She asked. "Don't call me that. I'm Pinkamena, not Pinkie," Pinkamena said. She wiped the tears off of her face with her hooves. She slowly trotted upstairs to the room she rented. Fighting back tears, she kept remembering sad events that happened in her past. 'Why won't these memories stop? It's like I can't even control them...' Pinkamena thought. It was 9 P.M. Pinkamena looked around her room, and then to the window. The moon was in the sky, and the stars shown bright. Pinkamena sighed and drifted off to sleep. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3 - The Nightmare //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 3 - The Nightmare Pinkamena galloped down a long hallway. Gasping for air and glancing at the pictures on the walls, she reached the end of the hallway to find a door. She opened the door with her hoof, and she saw her friends. Pinkamena's friends were mocking her. Teasing her. Making her cry. Pinkamena couldn't take it. She galloped out of the room and back down the long hallway. Quickly, she stopped when she saw Pinkie Pie standing in front of her. "Pinkie?" Pinkamena asked softly. Her voice still echoed off the walls in a disturbing way. Pinkie Pie looked at Pinkamena for a moment, then spoke. "You've been sad for so long...don't you want it to stop? I sure do," Pinkie said. "Yeah. Wait, I thought you were cheerful all the time. I'm supposed to be the sad one, so why're you...crying?" Pinkamena asked. "Becasue I have to go through everything you go through! Every tear, every insult you get, every mean comment ponies whisper behind your back...I go through all of it with you," Pinkie explained between small sobs. "I...I had no idea. I feel so sorry for you," Pinamena said. "It's ok. But I do need a favor...stop being so sad," Pinkie said. Pinkamena didn't know how to respond. Breaking the silence, the walls of the room began to quickly shut on the two mares. Before they closed all the way... Pinkamena woke up in a cold sweat. Checking te time, she realized that it was 8 A.M. already! She had overslept! She wasn't excited about leaving her room, though. She wanted to be isolated in a room where she could try to hold off her sadness withougt making it worse. But would her sadness actually go away if she isolated herself from other ponies? She didn't know the answer, but she was going to find out.
