The pegasus mare ground her teeth together. Before he stood a tall unicorn, with a mane dyed of many colors. Her coat was a tan.
"So. You wish me to be what? An athlete? A guitarist? Pianist? A mathematician?" The mare asked, trying to rid her voice of the hostility burning in her eyes.
"You don't try at anything! You fail at anything involving decent focus, all you do is block everypony out with your music!" The unicorn glared pointedly at the headset around the pegasus' neck.
"Maybe I don't want to try? Maybe I don't want to be such a thing like you want me to be." The pegasus replied.
"You are not going to sit around in you're room listening to music until you forget you're own name! You will have a purpose as long as I see to it."
The pegasus laughed. It wasn't a genuine one. It was one comprised of hostility and a slight slip of insanity.
"I have a purpose! I write, I read, I sing, I create! And what do you do? You cut it off! I hardly have time to do what I enjoy anymore! I am stuck with hours of doing something that leaves me sore and frustrated!"
"Its because you won't open you're mind. You stay on a bed drawing and listening to music. You hardly ever leave except to eat!"
The pegasus' eyes burned with a fire. A fire of anger and madness. Her mentality had granted her no will to do these things the unicorn wanted.
"Because you don't get it! I make people happy! People who care about me! And all you do is force me away to some damn parties I have no interest in! No one there likes me! They like her! I'm not like her! I'm not beautiful. I don't have those soft facial features!"
"You don't even try to make friends! All you do is sit around and listen to music!"
"Ha... ha ha.." The pegasus gazed at her hooves, her chest shaking as short laughs escaped her body.
"You think I don't try. You're right. I don't. But that isn't because I want to do whatever I will.. No.. I did try. I tried to be what you wanted. I tried to be an athlete. I tried to be a pianist, a guitarist. I tried it. I tried to be a gymnast. When that failed I tried to be a dancer... I tried... Friends.. I tried for those two. But guess what? Huh? Guess what?" Her voice hardened as she looked up, her burning emerald eyes narrowed.
"I failed. I tried and tried and I failed. Friends? Ha! No one even cares I exist! They only care about her! I can't be her, I can't be energetic in the physical sense of the word, I can't be interested in what they like. Why don't I try, huh!? Because no one cares! When no one cares, all you want to do is give up! I can't change! You can't change me! I will die before you do that!" The pegasus' eyes burned.
"I don't keep trying to be what you want anymore because you don't encourage me. No one does. The only encouragement I get is for my creativity. All you two do is scold me for missing something stupid! Threaten to take away my only outlet of happiness when I can't get something right! And I am sick of it! If you wanted me to be something, the least you could do was encourage it instead of trying to force it into me!"
The unicorn was silent. The pegasus' eyes were brimming with tears as she turned her back on the unicorn.
"Its funny. You always tell me... Tell me to be myself.. When all this time, you want nothing else than for me to be a little trophy on a shelf. No matter how much you hurt me in the process."
With those words, the pegasus walked down the hall, her light brown hooves hitting the lamenate floor with small steps. For once, she had showed the unicorn what her inner turmoil looked like.
Once she reached her room, she slammed the door behind her, the walls harshly shaking in protest. Hopefully that would give the unicorn the right idea of not trying to reason her opinion into the pegasus' head like she would every time the mare had a rough time.
Metapher. Home to many different creatures. Its native species are large golden furred, feline creatures known as "Lion veers" and white, dream like creatures that have been dubbed as "Dreams" due to their appearance and how little they are seen. The world has human appearing hybrids and ponies, none of which are exactly the same.
All of them live in peace beneath the rule of the Inventor, who created them all. Good and Bad.
In a towering white and golden castle lay many corridors and rooms, all with a certain purpose. In one room, opened to a large corridor, bookshelves lined the back wall and windows lined the rest, pillars separating the glass panels every yard or so. in between the last set of pillars was a pegasus.
Her mane brown with streaks of red down it, a small red bow tied up between her ears for no apparent reason other than its nice look. Her coat was orange with brown faded into the hooves. A scarf designed of two stripes of dark crimson and a faded orange wrapped around her neck. She sat on a cushion, looking at the large circular dome before her. Small versions of houses and people and a forest were under the dome's blue gleam. The mare's emerald eyes gazed at it with wonder and slight confusion.
Only when the sound of marble grinding on marble as the doors at the end of the hall opened, did the mare look up. The loud sound of boot heels striking the marble as a human walked down the hall, silver boots with small star shaped holes hiding her feet.
A long, thick tabby tail stirring the air behind her as she walked, the white tip flicking every which way. Her head of brown hair was held up in a ponytail, the end of it a large mass of blonde streaked curls. Two ears of orange and brown were easily visible with her hair pulled away. Her attire was a black shirt with sleeves to her elbows, two muffin shaped prints on the shoulders and two pink undone buttons on the front along with a pair of faded gray jeans with a gray striped waist band. Her forest green eyes seeming like a dulled down color of the mare's.
"I... I truly due rule over them all?" The mare asked as the female approached her, her rather masculine jaw not moving to help formulate a response.
"It... It seems so... Peaceful.. Would I really need to help govern such a peaceful world?" The mare inquired, her gaze returning to the small town depicted in the dome.
"It looks peaceful, but with good, must always come evil. At least that is how the saying goes." The human said as she stood by the mare.
"Why did you create them? Why spoil this world with darkness and turmoil when it is so easy to leave be?" The human's eyes looked away, towards a small bakery inside the dome.
"It started as an accident. Then it became a need.. Now they are part of this world. Ridding them," She paused to direct to the small outlines of people." Of it would make it pointless and bland. After all. Staring at the sun for eternity leaves one blind." The mare blinked at the response. When had the Inventor become so... different in her speech?
"Why create me then? Why create another A.E. when you have others?" The mare voiced another one of her buzzing questions.
The human laughed. "Because none of them are like you. This world is a depiction of my creativity. My creation. I mold it as I go. I see no reason not to add on. After all, without the limitations of Earth, I can always change it. And if I leave it, I can always return knowing my good out ruled the bad." The human glanced away once more, her mind dragging her elsewhere. A place her creations did not know.
"Where do you go?" The mare asked, catching her Inventor's attention once more.
"Where do I go?" She echoed, slightly unsure what the mare meant.
"At night. You vanish. Sometimes you appear the next morning, sometimes you appear days or even weeks later. Why is that?"
The Inventor's jaw tightened as she searched for the right words to explain. The mare sat there, gazing at her Inventor as she awaited her answer.
"It would be difficult to explain. Despite the fact that some of you are parts of me. I vanish.." The Inventor began to wonder if she could erase such thoughts from her creation. She had done so before, only it was memories of all the creations she had at the time, as she had vanished for years, leaving the next few generations of creations to spawn without her being there to protect them from the dangers there was. She finally settled on an answer
"I have my feet in two different worlds. One is this one. The one I made as an outlet for my creativity to blossom into beauty. The other.." She paused. "The other is the one I live in solely. Its where I was born. Its were I came from. Its the one I dislike most."
The mare blinked as she thought of a response. "Why not take your feet out of that world?" She inquired.
"Because.. Although I dislike that world. I don't wish to leave it... I love it and hate it at the same time. I hate it for the hardships and trials.. The lack of control... The heartbreak and horror it holds... Far different from the small nuisances I made here.. Yet.. I appreciate it for its beauty.. The shining diamonds in the ruff... The things the world of my creation can not offer.. I can't replicate it either... There is also the fact my existence is tied to that world. To cut it... To cut it would be drastic. It would not only leave me with a lack of something I can not replace.. It would drastically hurt those close to me. My friends.. My family.. This world may even vanish if I were to cut myself from the world."
The mare thought over it. Her inventor lived with her feet in two different worlds. Yet she seemed like she belongs to the one she created. She looked over at her.
"Why do you make trials and hardships for the ponies and people of this world.. If it's like the world you dislike.."
The human turned, allowed the mare to see two pegasus wings protruding from her shoulder blades. They matched the mare's exactly except for a slight variant in size.
"Because. What good character has no hardships?" With those words, the Inventor began to walk from the room. Before she went past the doors, she turned to the mare for one last exchange of words.
"Oh, by the way. Two unicorns will be arriving later today. Take them to Ace Amethyst. I'm sure he will be glad to see them." The mare nodded before the inventor vanished behind the marble and wood doors.
She glanced over at an open book, containing doodles of a blue unicorn with a purple mane and glasses. The page had 'ACE AMETHYST' scrawled in messy capital letters at the top. She smiled as a simple turn of the page revealed two unicorns with similar colors to the fore mentioned unicorn. Their names in even messier writing above their heads.
"Heh. Ace will be pleased to see them, I'm sure."
