Rainbow Dash raised her head from her pillow, her rose eyes full of anger and hate.
It has been three months, three months since the Wonderbolt Soarin’ had arrived on her doorstep, with an apologetic look on his face. Three months of him, dating someone else than her! Three months, before her dreams and heart shattered into thousand tiny smithereens…
“Look, Dash, I know we have known each other for a long time, but I think that we are not… uh… I mean, I found someone else who seems to be… er… a … better… match with me.” A stuttering Soarin’ said, as soon as Rainbow Dash opened her door to her cloud home. She grinned, and said, “Ha! Good one! That was the best prank I encountered!”, while beckoning him to enter her home. However… she froze when she realised Soarin’ was not laughing, neither were his emerald eyes shining, just like they used to.
“No… It’s not true, is it?” Her rose eyes were devoid of life, while a look of shock crossed her face. Silence from the stallion confirmed what the cyan mare least expected. Her eyes brimming with fresh tears, she slammed her cloud door as soon as she entered her house.
Sighing, she sat up, and went through her mail, one by one, many by her admirer, Scootaloo, which was tossed entirely into another room, a few comforting letters from her friends, and what’s this? A creamy white envelope, which was torn open to reveal an invitation… to a WEDDING? Rainbow was confused, she was sure that none of her friends were getting married. She opened the card, and the words inside made her blood run cold.
“You are invited to the joyful occasion of marriage between Soarin’ and Spitfire” she read. It took a while for her mind to comprehend that. However, as soon as the details inside were comprehended, the card was tossed to the side of the room, hitting the wall with a dull thunk. “WHAT?!”
Within seconds, she landed in Ponyville, only to be bombarded with many questions of the two Wonderbolts that are going to be married. Screaming, she zoomed from the horde of ponies, to the nearest refuge, Twilight’s library.
“INCOMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!… Oof.”
“RAINBOW!! I just cleaned everything up!” Spike shouted, wobbling upon the ladder and looked around at the empty shelves that were once full of organised books.
“Heh… Sorry. Is Twilight here?” Just then, who Rainbow Dash was looking for appeared upon the stairway. And she asked just the question that Rainbow was trying to avoid; “Rainbow, is it true? Is Soarin’ and Spitfire getting…” However, Twilight’s sentence was cut short by a loud bang that left all the doors and windows of the library rattling.
Not even my friends are of any help… A tear leaked out of Rainbow’s eye, but she soon snapped her eyes open. No… I am NOT going to stand there and let who I love get married to anyone else except me. I am going to thrash that wedding! With that thought in mind, and all the determination that she has, Rainbow flew back to her floating cloud house.
I am not the kind of girl
Who should be rudely barging in
On a white veil occasion
But you are not the kind of boy
Who should be marrying the wrong girl
Rainbow sneaked into the church through one of the side doors, her rainbow mane hidden under a hoodie. Stealthily sneaking behind one of the pews, she manage to avoid the church master’s gaze. 'Phew, first obstacle crossed.' Taking in a deep breath, Rainbow snuck round to the nearest door. Seeing as the door was already open a crack, Rainbow pushed just enough to let her see into the room. What she saw made her heart ache. The one whom she had a connection with, the ones whom she invested her days in, the one who was her sun and moon… the one…
I sneak in and see your friends
And her snotty little family
All dressed in pastel
And she is yelling at a bridesmaid
Somewhere back inside a room
Wearing a gown shaped like a pastry
Soarin', looking smart as ever, and more handsome than ever in a tuxedo, Rainbow's heart melted, yet yearned to be in Spitfire's place. Even with his Wonderbolt friends surrounding him, he seems a little … unsure?…nervous?…worried? Even a little…upset? Rainbow had a glimmer of hope, seeing him shun the congrats that his friends were showering upon him. Suddenly, a shout was heard and snagged Rainbow's attention. Spitfire, as Rainbow saw, and winced at, was wearing a puffy, snow white wedding gown. With her fiery hair, Rainbow thought, she looks more like a moldy orange.
This is
Surely not what you thought it would be
I lose myself in a daydream
Where I stand and say
Where was the one whom Rainbow knew? The jokey one, the rays of sunshine, the one who would make her laugh even when she was sad. Was she really going to lose him forever? If only there was a way out of this…
Don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out
Of the church at the back door
Does he know I'm here? Does he want this? Does he still remember me? I hope, silently slipping her hoof into the room and swinging the door so that the crack was shut, she flew out of the church by the back door. Little did she know that she had slipped, showing the tip of her light blue hoof to everyone in the room, yet no-one really saw it, all but one. "Rainbow…" Soarin' mumbled, "if only she knew…"
Don't wait or say a single vow
You need to hear me out
And they said "speak now"
Rainbow turned her head as the church bells are starting to ring. She slipped into the throngs of people, slid her hoodie hood over her rainbow hair, and settled herself behind a side curtain, with a view of everything. Her hopes dropped as she saw Soarin' grinning madly, as though he wanted the marriage.
Fond gestures are exchanged
And the organ starts to play
A song that sounds like a deathmarch
And I am hiding in the curtains
It seems that I was uninvited
By your lovely bride-to-be
Rainbow was itching to escape, but to her utter dismay, the organ started playing the wedding march. Sighing, she settled herself down, careful not to give herself away, and watch the wedding procession to take place.
She floats down the aisle
Like a pageant queen.
But I know you wish it was me
You wish it was me (Don't cha?)
Watching Spitfire sashaying down the aisle, her hair let down instead of standing up with gel. Rainbow closed her eyes as the preacher droned on about what they were here for. 'Yeah, yeah, just get on with it' Rainbow muttered under her breath. Soarin' on the other hand, was forced to smile, while is gaze swept over everyone's mane, hoping for that familiar shade of rainbow that seemed to light up his life whenever it came. Nope, zip nada, nothing, shoulders drooping, he sighed and turned to Spitfire.
Don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out
Of the church at the back door
Don't wait or say a single vow
You need to hear me out
And they said "speak now"
Don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out
Of the church at the back door
Don't wait or say a single vow
Your time is running out
And they said, "speak now"
Oh Oh Oh!
I hear the preacher say
"Speak now or forever hold your peace"
There's the silence, there's my last chance
I stand up with shaking hands
All eyes on me
Horrified looks from
Everyone in the room
But I'm only looking at you.
Rainbow's eyes flashed open at that mention, swiftly stepped out from behind of that curtain, and stood, tall as she can, while letting the glances of anger go to her, she lifted her head, slightly, just to catch Soarin' surprised face. She held his gaze for a moment, letting her eyes well with tears, before turning away and walking out of the church, letting her hood fall, revealing her mane, and her bunched up tail from under her hoodie, hearing the gasps and murmurs around her, before leaving the church.
I am not the kind of girl
Who should be rudely barging in
On a white veil occasion
But you are not the kind of boy
Who should be marrying the wrong girl!
Zooming to the highest cloud that she could see, she landed softly on it, and lay down.
So don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out
Of the church at the back door
A commotion is forming in the church underneath. Soaring tore off his tie, and started heading for the exit. Spitfire was behind him, "You can't be leaving because of her! We had an agreement! To stay in the Wonderbolts, you HAVE to follow my commands! I CAN FIRE YOU!"
"Fire me for all I want, for it is NOT my dream!" Soarin' yelled back, leaving a speechless Spitfire behind.
Don't wait or say a single vow
You need to hear me out
And they said, "speak now!"
Rainbow muttered, why? I thought… grr, I shan't believe in anyone else from today onwards…" Rainbow slowly shut her eyes, and let a solitary tear fall…
And you say
Let's run away now
I'll meet you when I'm out
Of my tux at the back door
Where is she? I really want to apologize for what I did… Soarin' reached the entrance, leaving Spitfire surrounded by family members and newspaper reporters. Lifting his hoof to rub his forehead, he felt something wet land on him hoof. Hmmm? Soarin' looked up, and decided to investigate, he knew it was her, it could only be her. Catching sight of the rainbow tail, he took a deep breath, and decided to go with with he knew.
Baby, I didn't say my vows
So glad you were around when they said
Speak Now
"Hey." Soarin' started, and paused, watching Rainbow stiffen. He inhaled, "I'msosorryRainbowit'scosIhadanagreementwithSpitfiresoIneedtodoeverythingthatshetellsmetodoinordertocontinuebeinginthatgroupandIOOF" Soarin' stopped, not because he had nothing else to say, but because he felt a fuzzy warmth engulf him. He looked down at Rainbow's disheveled mane, he wondered how he could ever agree with Spitfire's plan…… He knew where his heart belongs now, and he plans to keep it there.
THE END
~Several months later~
Sighing, Rainbow looked back to her own gorgeous gown, even the gala dress fall short for the standards for this. Rarity has really outdone herself this time, and even volunteered to make it for free, a very generous act of her. Pinkie was of course, handling to reception party, Applejack the banquet of apple-licious treats, Fluttershy was, of course, handling the music very well. Twilight and Rarity was with Rainbow, using their magic to arrange her dress time and again as she keeps walking around out of anxiousness.
"Darling, you simply have to stop moving, you are ruining your dress!" Rarity complained. Rainbow heaved another sigh, "Fine."
It has been three weeks since that incident happened, but she went home so happy that her friends thought that she had been brainwashed! Imagine, a gloomy Rainbow for three whole months, turning from dark to bright in a matter of a few days! Of course, all of Rainbow friends cheered after her recount, and Pinkie threw her "Congrats Rainbow Dash for getting back her boyfriend which will be her husband which is the Wonderbolt Soarin'" party. Many claimed, that that WAS the greatest party Pinkie organised in AGES! Not too long ago, Soarin had arrived at her house, claiming that he was bringing a lovely lady out for dinner, and of course, proposed to her!
Rainbow still remembered that day…… Rainbow was done with her weather duties, and was practicing her tricks when a familiar cry, from a familiar sky blue stallion rang out above her. "LOOK OUT BELOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW!" Rainbow barely managed a gasp before something, or somepony landed on her, luckily, they landed on a cloud. "Hey," Rainbow proclaimed, "that is my line, where did you… oh!" "Hey darling," Soarin' said, giving her his signature grin, the foolish, aloof one that made all his fan-girls swoon. Rainbow, who apparently was unaffected by anypony, just rolled her eyes, and back flipped off her cloud, to fall, and reappear through the thin layer of vapor in a matter of moments, breaking it, and causing Soarin to panic, 'till he realised he was not falling, but flying, as an automatic reaction that come to all pegasi. Rainbow was positioned to zoom off, but he caught her by surprise, by pulling out a bouquet of flowers from a could, surprisingly unscathed, and after being in a cloud of vapor, it has tiny water sparkles on it that made it all the more eye-catching. Soarin grinned, and said, "May I have the honor of this lovely lady to have dinner with me?" Let's just say that he didn't need an answer at all.
Soarin' busted a large hole in his pocket (If he HAD one) to pay for the candlelit dinner for him and Rainbow. As usual, the ponyrazzi were there to catch the news of him and Rainbow, and they had spent a good two hours trying to escape from them. They managed to catch their breath and get their dinner at a secluded restaurant quite near the edge of Ponyville. Of course, only the finest and most expensive meals were brought out for them. Soarin' gave Rainbow a lift back to her cloud house, and dropped her off, but not before producing a ring box! He opened it, and Rainbow saw the ring was encrusted with 6 gems, 6 gems with her mane colors… Soarin' asked for her hoof in marriage, and she gladly said, well, YES! From then on, the preparations for the wedding began, with Rarity claiming that she, of course would be making the gowns for the bride and the bridesmaids, Applejack and her family, the banquet, Fluttershy, the music, Pinkie, the craziest reception that she could arrange, and Twilight, as an oversee-er. It was just like Princess Candace's and Shining Armour's wedding, just 20% cooler! Days passed, the preparations were almost done, although Rainbow hadn't seen her gown but Soarin' did, and he gave her a wink and his goofy smile whenever she asked about the gown. Guess she wouldn't see it any sooner than the wedding.
"Rainbow! Back to Equestria! It's almost time!" Twilight was saying, giving rainbow a nudge while Rarity rearranged her gown, again, for the 7th time that minute. Just then, all of Rainbow's remaining friends, with the exception of Fluttershy, barged into the room, with Pinkie defying any law and appeared beside Rainbow, making her jump. Just then, the first bars of the wedding march floated into the room, and Rainbow found herself being pushed by her friends. She caught sight of Soarin' who looked dashing, in well, a tuxedo, of course! But Soarin' was not dashing anywhere this time, instead, seemed nervous as beads poured down the sides of his face.
Of course, in Soarin's eyes, Rainbow looked like an angel that had descended from heaven right in front of him. She was dressed in clothing similar to what goddesses wear in Mount Olympus. He jaw dropped, only to be reminded by his buddy Lightning, with a small cough, before he shut his mouth. He drank in every inch of Rainbow' body, from her multi-colored mane and tail to her sky blue body. He sighed, knowing that he was the luckiest stallion in Equestria.
The whole procedure went by smoothly, and the day ended as the couple boarded the carriage provided by Princess Celestia, and flew off into the setting sun.
This is the end of Speak now. Thank you for sticking by this story no matter what. I know this had been a bit rushed, even if this was the holidays, but as students, #whatholidays?
