If you must have backstory, long story short, the Gryphonlands attacked Equestria, and while they were winning, Equestria bit back with the ferocity of a thousand rabid dogs.
The gryphons have attacked the wrong utopia, and nothing short of decimation will have them forsake their safety ever again.
