Said Princess Mi Amore Cadenza to her resting husband as she went to answer the knock on their chamber door. Shining Armor gave a small nod, shifting into a more comfortable position under the covers on the bed. A second set of three knocks were heard as Cadance approached the door. "Hello?" answered the princess of love as she opened the door to reveal a tan coated unicorn mare with her black and grey mane in a bun, her blue eyes shining in the day light that spilled in from the nearby window. At her side was a grey earth pony colt with a short white mane and green eyes. To her he seemed very nervous from being here. "...May I help you?" Asked Cadance, wondering where the escorting guards were, peeking both ways down the long corridors. The mare smiled. "May we come in?" Said the mare in a soft tone, unheard, yet gave Cadance a bad familiar vibe from another mare. Cadance turned her head to Shining who once again gave a small nod of his head and thus Princess Cadance took a step to the side and the mare and colt entered the room. "Wh-what do you want?" Asked the pink alicorn a bit shakily from slight confusion. With her back turned to the princess, the mare gave an evil smirk. "Oh, nothing much. Just thought your husband would like to meet somepony special." With a tilt of his head, Shining sat up in his bed, now sharing the same slight confusion as his wife. "Who would that be?" He asked kindly as he climbed out of his royal resting place. The mare turned to face the couple, the colt shaking more than ever. Her smirk grew as green flames came up out of the carpeting and spiraled around herself and the colt. the flames flickered for a moment before fading. "Chrysalis!!" Shouted the married couple. Smirk, did the changeling queen with a slight chuckle. "Long time no see, huh? Been a few years." "What do YOU want!?" Cadence demanded, taking on a defensive pose, lighting her horn, readying a spell to cast onto an un touchable foe, as her magic of love would only do as much as feed her. Chrysalis let out a short cackle, widening her mischievous grin. "Oh, save it. You know what happened last time you tried that. I'm not here to attack you either." Shining Armor frowned. "What is it you want?" He asked through gritted teeth. Upon being asked, Chrysalis's sly smirk changed into more of a soft smile. "Night Winger here," Chrysalis motioned to the changeling colt, turning him to face Shining, "asked to see his father." "WHAT!?" Gasped the captain of the Royal Guard. "How is he my son!?" "Oh, Shining," Chrysalis giggled. "Let's just say I had fun seeing such pleasure on your face from a night of...rough housing, let's say, only for you to be oblivious to the fact it wasn't your dear wife you played with." Chrysalis smirked yet again towards her former victim. Shining felt a bubble form in his throat, preventing him from speaking any further. It had been something he did not like to think about. His stomach churned over the thought of something such as doing...that with Chrysalis. "Shining!" Gasped the Princess of love, her pupils the size of pin pricks. "Oh. Hush." Chrysalis snapped. "He WAS under my control anyway. My headache relieving spells did wonders!" "Mommy, I wanna go home," begged the changeling colt. "You never told me my daddy was a pony..." To this Chrysalis smiled. "Oh sweetie, you should have never asked then. Now, to get to the point." Chrysalis said firmly, turning her gaze back to Princess Cadance and Shining Armor. "After our last battle, it has been hard for me to find enough love for my subjects, and Night Winger here has been craving some love since he's not getting a sufficient amount for a growing boy like himself." Chrysalis gently stroked the head of the colt, smiling softly at him. "And?" Cadance asked. "And, I'd like him to stay with you two. What with you being the perfect choice. You know, Shining IS is father now, and his wife just so happens to be the princess of love!" Said Chrysalis cheerily, giving a small buzz of her wings. Groaning and rubbing her temples, Cadence lets out a low groan. "Let me get this straight. You expect us to look after a changeling?" "Because that's not what I just asked, I guess." Chrysalis rolled her eyes with a rather un amused expression. "It was a rhetorical question!" Cadance whined. Chrysalis giggled a little more. "You are such a laugh, dear Cadence. But, I shall be going now. I have a hive of changelings to tend to! And I will be back to check up on my darling little boy. I truly do love him! And you had better not let sun butt, moon butt or those six little annoying brats hurt him!" Chrysalis finished. "Bye bye now!" "No, wait, Mom!!" Night Winger pleaded, clinging to his mother, at least until she vanished with a green spark of light from her horn. The frightened changeling, now alone in a castle of ponies, scurries into the far corner of the room. Shining Armor gives a heavy sigh. "Great. She just comes and goes and dumps off a kid." Cadance gently nuzzles Armor's cheek. "It's alright, I'm sure we can figure this out." "I hope so. And I hope Flurry Heart won't mind having a brother." Shining Armor said softly, staring at the changeling who is currently curled up and crying to himself. To love or not to love. You know the rest."Please don't hurt me or blast me into oblivion!" Pleaded Night Winger, pressing himself against the corner of the wall as Princess Cadence slowly approached. Cadence sighed softly, leaning down to his level. "I promise I'm not going to hurt you, little one. I know you're hungry and I can feed you." She said to the changeling softly from only a foot away. "How do I know I can trust you?! My mom just left me here!" He wails, tears streaming down his little cheeks. Cadence sighs softly. "She had good reason to. She obviously cares about you. Now why don't you come give me a hug, hmm?" The colt only shook his head. His attempts to morph into the wall ended in failure as Cadance brought him close with her magic and held him gently. "Now doesn't this feel nice?" She asks softly, gazing into the blue orbs that were the colt's eyes. The colt hesitates, but nods a little and begins to absorb Cadence's love. "There we go. Good boy." As Cadance does her best to comfort the child, Shining Armor is pacing the floor, still registering the fact he's got another kid. Not only that, he was forced against his will to please Chrysalis! Flurry heart trots into the room. "Mom, who's here? I heard another voice." Cadance chuckles softly and turns to face her daughter. "Turns out you have a brother, Flurry." Flurry heart gasps shockingly, taking a step back. "H-how?!?! He's a changeling!" "It's a long story we shall not speak of under this roof, young lady!" Shining spat out firmly, pointing a hoof at the pink alicorn filly. "...Okaaaayyyy then....well...this got real awkward..." Muttered Flurry Heart. "No kidding..." Shining rolled his eyes. Flurry Heart turned her attention to the changeling colt who still seemed rather frightened as he lay in Cadance's arms. "So this little guy is my brother?" She asked, moving to take a closer look. "How did he get here anyway?" "His mother brought him." Shining Armor growled through his teeth, wishing now he could strangle that over sized bug pony to death. "He's cute!" Flurry giggled, attempting to give Night Winger an affectionate nuzzle, but the poor colt only moved away in fear. "Awe..." Despite the situation, Night Winger knew he'd have to make the best with what he had, so he curled into Cadence, finding her fur rather comfortable. Much more than the hard and cold shells of other changelings. He wish he could go home, but he knew not which way to go, or how far it'd be. "How old are you?" Flurry Heart asks curiously. "S-s-six..." Replied Night Winger shyly. "Oh! You're a year and a half younger than me!" Cadance sighs. "Would you like to actually meet your father now?" The colt nods a little and Cadence hands him over to Shining Armor who rather looked like he'd do something other than hold his unplanned child. Cadence notices this and gives him a firm glare to which Shining Armor rolls his eyes and takes the changeling in his arms. "H-hey, there, little guy...I guess I'm your daddy, huh?" Night Winger shrugs. "I guess so...mommy...never told me you were a pony." Shining chuckles a little. "Your mommy decided to-" began Shining until he was given a firm punch to the shoulder as well as a stern glare from his wife. He chuckled again, only more nervously. "She decided to suddenly let me know you existed! I..." Shining looks down. "Six...you said you're six, correct?" "Yes...daddy..." Night Winger nodded. "As much as I don't like your mother...those are six years I've missed with you..." Shining says softly, tearing up slightly. "You may be a changeling, but you're my son...and those are six years I won't ever have with you..." "Daddy? Are you okay?" Night Winger asks, worry lacing his slightly high pitched tone. Shining holds his son tight, sobbing as he does so. Cadance quickly wraps her caring hooves around the weeping stallion to comfort him. Flurry Heart, unsure of exactly what's even going on, joins in, nuzzling her father's cheek. Once scared, now feeling guilty for his old man, Night Winger hugs Shining tight as he can. "Don't cry, daddy...I'm just happy I finally get to see you." To this, Shining smiles and gently nuzzles Night Winger who wipes away his tears. "Thanks. That means a lot." "At first I thought you guys were gonna vaporize me, but...you guys are nicer than mommy," Night Winger giggles. "Well, isn't that sweet?" Cadence smiles and gently kisses the colt's head. Night Winger sighs. "It's not going to be exactly easy having me here now...being a you know what...your guards will probably spear me and roast me over a burning flame. Nor would it help to go and say, oh, Chrysalis just dropped off this changeling colt, claiming he's our son and all." He sighs defeatedly. "I'm just going to cause a lot of problems..." "No, I'm making sure we get this squared away." Says Shining Armor determinedly. Que mane blowing in the wind. "And how are you going to do that?" Flurry Heart asks, stealing the colt from Shining. "Like little brother said, you can't just go telling every pony." "We're going to tell Celestia." Stated the captain of the Royal Guard. "So much for that." Flurry Deadpanns. Author's Note From here, I'll take ideas for further chapters, so story will go the way, you, the readers want! P. S. I adore the cover art I chose for this!! I hope you all think the same!! And for those wondering how Flurry is older than Night Winger, it's a little twist that will be explained later!! :D So now what?"What are we gonna do, what are we gonna do, what are we gonna do?!" Asked Snining Armor, clearly panicking as he was quickly pacing the floor. Flurry Heart only giggled at her father's silliness as she held her little brother close. "What's so wrong, dad?" Shining stopped and hung his head, letting out a long and heavy sigh before turning to face his daughter. "Your brother is a Changeling, Sweetie." Flurry Heart nodded in understandment. "Like I didn't know that. Put an 'n' on 'a' and adorable before changeling. That would be more accurate." Shining Armor rolled his eyes. Night Winger blushed. "Awe, you think I'm adorable, sis?" Flurry Heart nodded. "Of course you are!" She smiles, tightly hugging the changeling colt, nuzzling his cheek. "But the thing with him being a changeling is that we can't exactly walk out the door with him. The guards would be alerted and a whole pile of complicated things will show up!" Cadence giggles slightly. "You're overreacting, honey. Send a letter to Twilight. If anypony will help us, it's her and her friends." This brought a smile to Shinings frown, thus turning it upside down. "Maybe you're right. Knowing Twilight, especially being my sister, She'll probably go out of her way to help us." "Perhaps I should write the message. Your hooves would make for great massagers with how much they are vibrating." Shining blushed, gazing down at his four hooves, seeing his wife was correct. The floor where he stood was rather scratched. "Alright. I'll...keep an eye on our...kids..." Said Shining nervously, wishing he could smile at the sight of his son, but was only a reminder of how he came to be. He shuddered slightly and trotted over to the cuddling couple and Cadence began writing. Night Winger smiled at his father's presence as he sat down on his haunches. "Hey, dad!" "H-hey, sport. You said you're six, right?" Night Winger tilted his head. "I've said that three times...are you just being silly?" "Just...how is it you're younger than Flurry heart...your mother and I were married before we had her and..." "And what?" Asked Flurry who tilted her head as well. Shining sighed yet again, maybe for the hundredth time since his attacker's visit. "That's exactly it! I can't see, to figure out what." Shining Armor furrowed his brows and scratched at his chin with a shaky hoof. Night Winger squirmed free from Flurry's hold and fluttered his way over to Shining, landing before him. He gazes up at him with curious eyes, wondering if he's always like this. A moment later, Cadence trotted over to the trio of ponies. "Okay, I've sent the letter, she'll probably respond very- Fwoosh! "Soon..." Cadance opens the letter in her pink aura of magic and begins to read. After a moments silence, Shining tilts his head. "What did she say?" "Ahem!" Cadence cleared her throat. "She says she'll be over shortly to discuss the matter. If we're not lying that is." Flatly said Cadence on the last bit. "I'll be willing to bet she threw that last sentence in there as a joke." ***** After an hour or so of doing absolutely nothing, came a knock at the door which then began to glow purple before opening and Twilight entered. "Hi, I'm here!" She says happily with a small wave of a hoof. "So what's this I hear about a changeling?" Night Winger, noticing the presence of another pony took cover behind Shining Armor as he approached Twilight. "Yeah, about that...you see...uh...heh heh...this is awkward..." Shining sort of began. "You remember mine and Cadence's wedding, right?" "Well yeah, I don't think anybody there could ever forget! ...Why do you ask...?" Again, Shining sighed and took a seat on his bed. Night Winger was fast to get into his lap. "Oh, is this the little guy you mentioned?" Twilight asked, moving closer to see the trembling changeling who Shining holds close in his hooves. "Yeah...did uh...Cadence mention that he's my son...?" "SON?!?!" Twilight gasps, further more scaring the poor colt. "I'll take that as a no..." Shining glared at Cadence who only shrugged at his...menacing gaze. "Well...not too long ago...Chrysalis paid us a visit and mentioned she...I think you get the rest..." Twilight was stunned. A bit too much a speak as she now wore a tilted wtf face. "She said she's been having trouble providing for her...subjects...and she left this little guy here who is a result of what she did." Shining closes his eyes, holding his son close and gently nuzzles him. "What are we gonna do, Twily? What if Celestia were to find out and make us get rid of him?!" Asked a teary eyed Shining Armor. "I...I know how to came to be...I know what he is...but he's my son and I love him...I've already missed six years with him..." Twilight lowers her head a little in thought. "Maybe...sneak him out and try to make good between him and other ponies, and maybe good word word get out about him which Celestia will be bound to hear, and if she WERE to try and got rid of him, which I doubt she will, you'll have plenty of ponies to back you up, including me!" Twilight smiles. Shining smiles back. "Thank you, Twily. I knew you'd help us." Night Winger, hearing all of this becomes curious of Twilight. "So...are you my auntie, then?" He asks a bit shyly. Twilight giggles. "Heh, I guess I am!" She smiles a bit more, and gently nuzzles the colt. Author's Note I'm told all the time I have many spelling errors. So this time I went and did what I did before posting, but if any of you spot more out, just tell me where it was and I will get down on it. DeceivingChrysalis wore a happy smirk as she entered her throne room. Dark and black, large torches emiting green flames as a small source of light lined the walls. The two guard drones lifted their heads slightly, noting Chrysalis's presence. "Those ponies are so foolish!" She laughed to herself as she took a seat. A pair of drones on either side bowed as she approached. "So, what is the next step of the plan, my Queen?" Asked the drone to her left, seeming a little glum. Chrysalis broke a small smile and gave a pat on the changeling's head. "Worry not, my subjects. You shall all be fed plenty soon! The next step is all on Mommy's little boy," she grinned, putting her forehooves together as she cackled ever so slightly. "He just doesn't know it yet. Neither does his bulk headed father." "What IS the plan?" Wondered the other changeling. "Is there anything we shall do to prepare?" Chrysalis tsk tsk'ed. "I wish not to spoil. This plan is fool proof and cannot possible fail! Soon enough...there will be more than enough love that you could wish your little heart for!" The changeling to the Queen's left let out a low grumble. "That's what you said last time...I heard you were all blown away." Chrysalis huffed. "The plan was working! A few...unexpected guests decided to show up to the wedding..." Chrysalis wove her hoof around, making various gestures. "I was told you took Celestia down with one hit," the opposite changeling spoke up. A smile formed on the changeling Queen's muzzle. If anything, the only good thing that came from that attack was that small moment. The scene replayed in her mind.Celestia rose from the floor, claiming she'd defeat her, but instead, Celestia was thrown to the floor like a rag doll. It was a good feeling she had control of Equestria...even if it were for a short moment. "That I did, Buzzer. That I did." She stated, smiling. "Too bad nopony will be able to save them this time!" ***** "So, let me get this straight." Said Twilight after a moment of thought, a slightly annoyed look on her face "Queen Chrysalis just randomly pops out of nowhere, Night Winger, claims he's your son and you believe it, just like that?!" Shining Armor chuckled nervously. "....Yeah, soorrrt of like that..." "SORT of like that?!" Twilight snapped, turning suddenly to face her brother. "That's what it IS!" She threw out a hoof and slammed it back down. Shining cringed a little, beads of sweat rolling down the sides of his head. "Heheheh..." Twilight face hooved, grunting angrily. "Either way, he's here, there's nothing we can do about it." Shining would protest, but in Twilights anger, he decided against it. Being a father already, he had a gut feeling Night Winger is his son. He holds him close, only wishing to keep him safe. "You feed me a lot, daddy," little Night Winger giggled. Shining didn't answer. "Now...say he IS Shining's son?" Cadence interjected from her bed next to Shining. A low sigh came from Twilight who began to look out the window. "Even if he is...I just have a bad feeling about this." She says softly. "You saw how she was, and what she did. There were so many changelings in the sky they almost blocked out the sun..." "I know, Twilight...but we can't blame this little guy for that..." Cadence argued. Twilight gave a slight roll of her eyes. "I'm not blaming him...I like him, I'm just not ready to believe he's Shining's son without any real proof of it." "Even if he isn't my son...I'm too attached to him to want to let him go..." Shining said suddenly. "Being a father already, I have a strong feeling he is." This made Night Winger smile as he nuzzled Shining's cheek. "Thanks, daddy. I love you!" Shining smiled, hugging the colt he hoped is his son indeed. "Awe, I love you too!" Night Winger returned the affection, hugging him tightly around the neck. The best thing as being a changeling is to be told you're loved. "Well...I could do a test for it! But...we don't have the right tools for that...currently..." Twilight sighed. "I could camouflage and we could go see! Wherever it is we'd go to see..." Twilight smiled. "My castle!" Shining shrugged. "It's worth a shot!" "Since I'll be needing them for this!" Twilight giggled. "Need what?" Cadence asks. Twilight smiled, heading for the door. "Shots! You know...needles!" "Let's go then!" Shining said happily, placing Night Winger on his back, following after Twilight and alongside his wife. Night Winger took on the form of a blue Pegasus with a fiery yellow mane and tail and light blue eyes. No cutie mark appeared sadly. Later at Twilight's castle, a small machine hummed to life and she prepared the needles. They set up in the library, Night Winger sat of course in Shining's lap on a soft chair. Cadence stood near by, not being a fan of having metal pierce her skin. Twilight pressed a button on the machine and a small tray slid out from the side, four Petri dishes inside. She took two of the four and the trey slid back in. She set them on top of the machine, then proceeded to grab her two clothes, needles, rubber bands and bottle of alcohol in her purple magic aura. She smiled as she approached the stallion and colt. "Is this going to h-hurt, daddy?" Night Winger asked curiously, eying the sharp needles. "Maybe a little, but be brave, okay? Let's just...hope the result is positive, okay?" Night Winger nodded. "Okay, daddy." "I dunno why I'm even doing this." Twilight giggled as she damped one cloth with a bit of the alcohol which she used to rub onto a spot on where Shining's Upper and lower leg meet. Next she wrapped one of the bands around His upper leg and pulled it slightly tight. "Because you love me." Shining teased to which Twilight rolled her eyes. Slowly, Twilight brought the needle to Shining's arm and made the "incision." She filled it wth about 10ml of blood, and then repeated the same process with Night Winger who hardly felt a thing due to having a hard shell. "But what if the test shows I'm not your son?" The colt asks worriedly, his eyes tearing up as he looked up at Shining. The Royal Guard captain sighed, tearing up as well. "If not...you can still call me daddy, okay?" "Okay" replied Night Winger weakly as he sobbed into Shining's chest. Shining holds him tight, gently nuzzling him. "This may take a little time." Said Twilight as she watched the machine's various lights blink and little air pump thing do their thing. Even she didn't know how the thing worked, but knew it gave results and that's all that mattered. Author's Note Disclaimer: I know nothing about how DNA testing works, but I did try and research it a bit and I got close to nothing, so I just went and threw it together will no knowledge of it. I tried, though! Just wait to see the twists I have in store! Beware for more cliff hangers and tons of suspenseful cuteness!! Well...it WAS featured for...ten minutes...far better stories come in and kick me out as soon as I get in! Only one of my stories called "Night of the Werewolf" on my main account lasted more than a day. It actually lasted a week! I made a one shot sequel to it that got featured along with it even! Felt nice to have two stories featured at the same time :D I don't care for the feature itself. It just tells me you all enjoy the story being featured and that's all that matters to me :) Daddy!!The three ponies and one changeling sat in silence for several minutes, eyes on the little contraption that would decide whether or not Night Winger is Shining Armor's son. Princess Cadence was hopeful, Twilight was curious and Shining Was a little worried. Night Winger on the other hoof was shaking from fear the test would be negative. Little had he known Shining, which shocked even him how fast he grew on him. He could only pray he could really call him Daddy. "It should be just about done!" Said Twilight, closely inspecting the machine, guessing by the change in beeps and hums it had been making. Shining and Night Winger looked at one another. Shining gave him a little nuzzle, getting a little hug in return from the changeling who seemed on the break of tears. Shining felt even if he wasn't his father, he'd be beyond pissed at Chrysalis, he'd still love the kid no matter what. At least his haunting thought of having been...victimized by Chrysalis would be untrue. Though he couldn't sigh of relief just yet. He continued to hold the little changeling close, rubbing a hoof over his small head. He loved him. Ding!, went the machine and everypony's heads and ears perked up at the sound. "What's the verdict?" Asked Cadence. Twilight pulled a small sheet of paper from the machine that had been ejected from the side. She scanned over it, reading it through and thoroughly. Upon discovering her findings, she turned to the here ponies before her and smiled. "I hope you love your son, brother. Your DNA match!" Shining and Night Winger both smiled wide. Wider than they'd ever done before, and they held each other close. Night Winger cried of joy, soaking up the love his father was giving to him. Shining held his son close and tight, tears slipping down his cheeks. He didn't care how Night Winger came to be, nor did he care he was a changeling. All he cared about was that he was his son. Night Winger felt much the same. All he was told about how ponies were bad, and not to be trusted, but after so many years, he could final hug his father. "I love you, daddy!" He managed to say through his sobs. Shining smiled at his son, wiping his tears away with a hoof. "I love you too, buddy." Suddenly the doors to the library opened and Starlight Glimmer appeared with Spike at her side. Starlight took in the scene before her. Cadence and Shining Armor were there, Shining was holding some bug like pony she'd never seen before. Cadence held him close, comforting him and Twilight seemed to be reading a sheet of paper. Spike mentally noted the same thing, only difference was that he knew what the bug pony was. "...Are we interrupting something?" Asked Starlight in an awkward manner. Twilight lowered the paper in her magical aura and smiles at the pink unicorn mare. "Oh, nothing at all! We just figured out Shining has a son!" Spike tilted his head, walking up to shining before turning back to face Twilight. "You don't mean the changeling, do you?" He asked, pointing at the colts over his back with a thumb. Twilight nodded. Night Winger, after calming down some, noticed the presence of strangers in the room and huddled into his father for protection. "Daddy..." He mumbled. Shining smiled, running a hoof over his son's head. "They're friends, okay, buddy?" Night Winger nodded, but stayed close just in case. He very much enjoyed the soft, comforting fur the ponies had, finding it more pleasant than cold chitin shells. "Um...what's a changeling?" Starlight asked as she entered the room, quizzically turning her gaze to Twilight. "Sounds a little creepy..." She says rubbing her left foreleg with the other. Twilight giggled. "Changeling's are a bug type race of ponies who feed off of love and can take on the forms of other ponies!" Starlight, being new to this, had her jaw hanging low. "They can shape shift?!" Again, Twilight giggled. "Yes, Starlight." "Um...if you don't mind me suddenly cutting in, what do we do now with Night Winger?" Cadence spoke up from where she sat in a chair against one of the many bookshelves. Twilight scratched a hoof into her chin. "Well...I'm not sure, really. I'd honestly go and try to reason with Celestia." Shining sighed heavily. "I'd rather not...I wouldn't dare risk the safety of my child. He'd be scared to death! In a large throne room with the princess of Equestria in front of him and guards filling the room. I don't think he could take it..." Shining looked down to see Night Winger had fallen asleep in his hooves, and was snoring lightly. A smile formed, joy filling him at the fact he has a son. Night Winger began sucking his hoof and his little wings buzzed every now and again as he lay curled up on his back. During this whole ordeal, a bored Flurry Heart was practicing her magic by making a house of books on the crystal floor. "Well...it's gotta be done...we can't just keep him a secret forever. Are just going to keep him cooped up inside?" "I don't know, okay, Twilight? Suddenly knowing I'm the father to a changeling is nice and all, but I haven't been the best for figuring these things out..." Sighed the captain of the Royal Guard, looking down onto his napping son. Twilight, unsure of how to handle this as well, gently scraped a hoof into the floor. "Well, we had better figure something out. Before something bad happens." Author's Note Bah, I know this isn't much of a chap, but chin up chaps! There will be many more chaps with much more....I dunno, I'm derping right now. Ah can't find duh right wurds! I hope y'all enjoyed dis chap, tho! Also, I'm not positive there's any drama in this fic at all. To be honest I just added it cause it's pink. Celestial greetings! After a while of discussion, the three ponies decided they'd let Celestia know about Night Winger the following day, and being tired enough, they decided to stay the night at Twilights. "...Why are you looking at me like that?" Asked Spike who noticed the changeling staring at him from where he sat on the carpet with large blue eyes. Night Winger blinked. "Do you breathe fire?" He replied. Spike gave a slight roll of his emerald eyes, setting his "Power Ponies" comic down next to him. "Well, yeah! I'm a dragon!" Night Winger giggled slightly. "Well, I've heard some dragons breathe ice and other things, too, so I was just curious!" He beamed, giving a small flutter of his wings which emitted a quiet buzz. The dragon turned a bemused look to Twilight who lay in her bed reading her own fables of Daring Do tales. Twilight noticed this and smiled. "He's just curious, Spike. He's never seen a dragon before." The alicorn cooed. "Mommy tells me about them all the time!" Night Winger smiled back at Twilight. "But they can't take on my mommy! She beat Celestia!" He stated cheerily, with a hoof in the air. A frown from Twilight made him lower said hoof, along with his ears. "...N-not that it was a good thing it's just that I know mommy is strong and can protect me...if she was here..." The colt lowered his head and sniffled. "Mommy works hard to protect and feed us...but it's hard when we're a hated race..." Twilight sighed a little, climbing down from her bed and went to comfort the changeling. She pulled him into a hug and gave him a small nuzzle. "It's okay. I understand. It's why she brought you here, isn't it?" Night Winger nodded. "She's probably...worried about me." He paused to yawn. "I bet she is. But I think it's bed time for you." Twilight replied. "I'll carry you to my brother." "Okay," Night Winger sighed as he was magically lifted onto Twilight's back. "You don't hate me, do you?" Again, Twilight frowned. "Why should I hate you?" "Because I'm a changeling..." "But I don't." She smiled and gave him a small kiss on the head. The changeling blushed. "That's, Auntie Twilight." "No problem!" Twilight nodded and trotted out of the room and a few doors down the hall where Shining Armor and Princess Cadence were. "I'll get it." Shining said to his wife with a nuzzle before going to answer to Twilight's knocks. "Yes, Twily?" "Your son is ready to go to bed," she said, turning her head to smile at Night Winger who let out a yawn. "Daddy!" He smiled, and hopped off Twilight's back to go hug his father. Shining returned the hug. "Thanks, sis." "No problem!" Shining closed the door and carried his son to the bed to place him next to his sister, between him and Cadence. Flurry Heart was quick to snuggle the colt. "Hey, little brother!" She giggled, holding him tight. "I love you!" Night Winger purred and kept close, nuzzling Flurry's furry chest. "I love you too, big sister." Shining pulled both foals close to him, kissing their heads each once. "Sleep well you two." "Uh, uh." Cadence glared at Shining. "What?" The stallion replied confusingly. Cadence took Flurry in her magic and holds her close. "You get one, I get one." "Fair enough." Cadence giggled and nuzzles her husband. "Let's get some sleep," she said as she pulled the cord on the lamp which sat on the end table next to the bed. She then pulled up the purple covers that neared an image of Twilight's cutie mark. "Let's." Shining agreed. Soon enough, they fell asleep one by one, all except little Night Winger. While in his father's grasp, he feared what tomorrow may bring. Images of Celestia banishing him entered his little mind. Or if she hadn't, then he'd be shunned by everypony else. He was scared. He didn't want to be a changeling. He turned to face his father and snuggled into his chest. "I love you, daddy," he whispered, earning a low grumble in return before he closed his eyes. ***** The following day, it was seldom anypony saw Night Winger. He woke early and spent his time rushing about. He had been searching for good places to hide upon Celestia's arrival. She was a good pony, so why must he fear her? Because he's a changeling. Because of that small fact, he feared Celestia would disapprove of him. He hadn't joined the others for breakfast. He felt there was no need to eat if he was soon to be "obliterated." Shining roamed around in search, calling out his name, but to no avail. Taking quick glances left and right, Night Winger ran down the main hall towards the entrance. Not that he was leaving, it's just where he was currently going. There was a sudden poof and he ran into something. He staggered back, rubbing his head. "Ouchie..." He mumbled. His eyes spun, his vision blurry, slowly coming to a stop. "What do we have here?" Asked a voice. He saw a leg, wearing a golden shoe on its hoof. Backing up, craning his head back, he found himself staring into the eyes of Princess Celestia. "Please don't hurt me!" He cried as he fell back and he scrambled backward. Celestia lit her horn, furrowing her brows. She took the colt in her magic and lifted him off the ground. "What are you doing here?" She asked rather firm. Opening his eyes again, he saw Celestia's face right in front of his own. His eyes turned to pin pricks. "DAAADDDYYYYY!!!!" Author's Note Yay! Another chapter done and another cliffhanger! You guys are gonna fall to your doom!! Mwahahaha! And at the bottom lies a big pit of marshmallow shaped ponies who's only purpose is to snuggle humans and feed them with their bodies! :D Celestia accepts Night WingerUpon hearing a plea for help from his only son, Shining turned tail in the opposite direction and boy he flew! That stallion ran so fast, Rainbow Dash would be jealous! Down the hall he saw Celestia and Night Winger crying in her magic. He felt an urge to run straight into the solar goddess, but decided against it as he came screeching to a halt. "Daddy, help me!!" Night Winger cried, reaching out to his father. "Daddy?" Celestia tilted her head. After a few pants and a few seconds to catch his breath he stood tall. "Celestia. Please, put my son down." He said firm and strong, a manner he never used when Celestia was the one his words were going to. "What's going on?!" Asked Cadence who was the next to arrive on the scene. "Is anypony...oh hi Celestia!" Twilight smiled as she merrily trotted up to the Goddess of the sun and gave her a gentle hug. Celestia sighed. "Would anypony please tell me what's going on here?" She asked, setting Night Winger down hesitantly next to Shining. Once free of her magic, Night Winger bolted straight behind his father. "I take it he's what your letter was about, Twilight?" The celestial mare continued. Twilight only nodded in response. Shining stepped forward. "Princess, I know it may not look like it, but this changeling, believe it or not is my son." He turned his head back for a second to nuzzle the crying colt. "Queen Chrysalis paid us a rather unexpected visit yesterday afternoon with this colt, saying Shining was the father. We came here to Twilight's to confirm it, and truth be told...the truth WAS told." Celestia took a deep breath, taking a moment to register this. "And you don't suspect her of any deceiving plots? You simply took the foal into your care for what reason?" "Well, he's my son for starters." Shining dead panned and brought Night Winger close. "Although she didn't have my consent, Night Winger was the effect to the cause and with that said, and six years missed with my child, I simply will not shun him away just because of his origins." Shining didn't see, to happy with the way Celestia was taking this. "But why would she just dump him off on you?" Shining was about to answer, but Cadence felt it was in her best interest to answer since she was still calm. "After her attack on Canterlot failed, she said she's been having a hard time providing love for her subjects and that Night Winger was beginning to starve. She brought him here for us to care for him. Even as enemies, she trusts us with her child. Even if she has some plan, Shining and I will do what we did last time. And me being the Princess of love and Shining the boy's father actually makes perfect sense she brought him to us." Twilight cleared her throat. "And if you want proof their DNA match, I have a copy here," she said with a smile, opening a satchel bag on her back with her magic, and pulled out a piece of rolled up paper which she floated over to the princess. "So I see." Celestia said, rubbing her chin with a hoof as she read the paper. "We felt it'd be best to tell you about him to ask what we should do, since we feel him being here, we don't want to keep hi hidden away and cooped up inside because of his race." Shining stated, seeming calmer now. "I understand." Celestia nodded. "You've all made good points and since Night Winger is only a foal, I'm sure if he had any bad intentions there's absolutely nothing he can do. So, I'll do what I can and see what I can do for you." Smiles and sighs were heard about the area. "Thank you princess," Shining bowed. "Would you like to hold him?" Celestia giggled at that. "I'm not sure he'd like that..." Night Winger clung tighter to his father's chest, gazing up at the tower of a pony Celestia was to him. "No, daddy..." He whispered. "Alright, then." Shrugged Shinning Armor. Celestia lowered her head so she was eye level with Night Winger who froze in her gaze. "You behave, you little cutie." She smiled and nuzzles him before standing back up. "You ponies take care here, and keep him safe, alright?" "As captain of the Royal guard, it'll be impossible any harm will be brought to my son." Shining smiled. "Good," Celestia smiled back. "Take care!" With a light of her horn, Celestia vanished. "Daddy?" "Yes son?" Night Winger smiled. "I love you so much! Please...don't ever leave me..." Shining hugged the changeling, tearing up slightly. "Don't you worry, bud. Daddy will always be here for you, no matter what." "Can we go cuddle, daddy? Mommy always cuddles with me." "Of course, buddy." Shining carried his changeling colt back to the bedroom where they tucked themselves under the covers. Night Winger lay in his loving grasp, feeding off said love. "Your fur is really comfy daddy!" Shining chuckled, watching his son nuzzle his chest. "I bet it is, buddy." Back in the Canterlot castle, Princess Celestia had no clue of how to feel or think about the current situation. Although it was rather cute, it was also very, very risky. She looked out the nearby widow, her sun showing in the sky. She really needed to snuggle that Changeling. Author's Note Yay! A cute ending which isn't a cliffhanger! He's mine!!Author's Note Beware reader, this chapter is unbearably cute. I have to say, I feel I out did myself on this one. I didn't feel much "comedy" coming from this story, so my brain at the last second said "screw your damn idea, I'm switching you to auto pilot, Logan!" And thus this monstrosity of a laugh (I hope) was made. It's all shits and giggles until somepony giggles and shits. Sunday, July 17th, 2016, 6:33 pm western time. I noticed the view count on this chapter was 666. Funny. He's mine!! The little changeling colt purred into his father's chest, enjoying the warmth of his fur. A smile shown on his cheeks, his eyes closed as he gave the stallion's chest a little nuzzle. He was happy as could be, loving the feeling of being held by his old man. It made him feel good inside that Shining Armor loved him, despite being what he is. He was glad to be his son. He knew having a guard as a father he'd be well protected in this world of ponies, therefore he no longer worried. Celestia had accepted his presence, and with that being said, she'd probably go out of her way to make him a citizen of Equestria. How he wished he could go and play with the other foals. During his time with Shining Armor and his wife being Princess Cadence, he had high hopes it would give him a good name and a reason for ponies to befriend him. With so much love he'd been given within the last sixteen hours, it made him wonder why ponies and changeling hated each other. If they had been united, the changeling's would get their love with no problem! Being here has also made him realize something else. Something he wished weren't true. "Daddy?" Night Winger said as he turned his head up to his father. "Yes, son?" Shining relpied with a nuzzle. "Is it true mommy attacked Canterlot? I read it in a book while we were in the library...how she faked being your wife..." Shining sighed. "For many reasons I wished it never happened...but one reason...a really good one makes me thankful it did." "What's that, daddy?" "You, my wonderful son." Replied Shining, kissing his son's head. Night Winger blushed with a little giggle, then frowned. "Doesn't that make mommy bad she did that?" Shining opened his mouth to answer, but the door flew open and Cadence rushed in. Shining sat up, pulling his son into his lap. "Yes, ho-" "Give me him!" Cadence cut him off coldly, glaring at Shining. Silence filled the room for a few moments as Cadence fought to hold her glare. But it was to no avail as she couldn't help but giggle. "...Are you alright, honey?" Cadence nodded and crawled into the bed, opposite to Shining which was a little unusual. She lit her horn as she crawled under the covers and for a split second, Night Winger vanished, only to appear in Cadence's arm. "I'm quite alright, but I wish to hold him now,"" she smirked. Night Winger giggled and got comfortable. "Give him back!" Shining whined, reaching for his son with his hooves. Cadence turned her nose to the air and moved the changeling to the other side of her. "No." "Oh, really?" Shining smirked back at his wife. Cadence nodded, turning her head away. "Okay." Shining shrugged and sat back in his place. Night Winger was giggling to himself as the two fought, snuggling close to Cadence. "Can I have a kiss?" Shining asked. He had a plan. A "devious" plan in his mind. Princess Cadence smiled. "Of course, dear!" She leaned over and the moment her lips made contact with his cheek, shining grabbed her and straight up hoisted her wife off the bed, leaving Night Winger up for grabs. Cadence "oofed" as she landed. She got up slowly, glaring she re adjusted her tiara on her head. "Haha!" Shining laughed in triumph, holding his giggling son high in the air in his two forehooves. "As Rarity says," Cadence whispered to herself. "It. Is. on!" She sparked her horn, glowing with a yellow aura, she enveloped Night Winger in the same glow. "Huh?" Shining Armor turned his head, only for a flying pillow to hit him straight in the face. Distracted, Cadence used her magic to pull down his hind legs, sending him tumbling, to which she then pulled Night Winger close who smiled wide at her, his blue eyes gleaming in the light. "He's mine!!" She declared as she then trotted for the door. She hummed to herself, until the doors began to glow blue and the slammed shut in her face. "Wha?" she attempted to open the door with her magic. She strained and grunted, barely managing an inch. In her despise, she had weakened her magic that was holding Night Winger and Shining took him and floated him over behind him unnoticed. With a groan she gave up and turned around. She spotted her husband, on his side, propped up on a foreleg, his horn glowing, his mane messy and he smiled. "Just where do you think you're going?" He asked as he stood. He winked to Night Winger who winked back. "I was about to leave and snuggle Night Wing-" she gasped, finding he wasn't there. "Where is he?!" She bellowed. "Safe with his father." He stated softly, pulling his son into his lap and began to stroke his head which made Night Winger purr. Cadence tilted her head. "But how did you...?" "Oh, I simply locked the door and left my glow around it, making you think I was holding it closed. So you fought that whole time thinking I was forcing it shut. And in your stupor, your magical grip on Night Winger weakened and I took him from you. You wouldn't have noticed since you obviously had your full attention on trying to open a locked door." Cadence's jaw dropped and her eye lids twitched. He had played her like a harp. Her eyes shrunk to the size of pin pricks as she began to glare through her frazzled mane. "Why, you!!" In preparation, Shinging placed a strong grip around Night Winger, soon to be followed by Cadence's. Starlight Glimmer was merely trotting down the hall, a little smile over her face until she heard Shining's voice. "Give him back!" Frowning, Starlight crept up to the door and pressed her ear against it. "No, he's MINE!" Cadence hollered back. Feeling she should check up on them, she entered the room, forgetting to knock. "Anything wrong in here?" She asked, suddenly realizing her mistake. She'd blush, but seeing Night Winger being held in a green aura of magic, curled up so adorably made her daw a little. "Daddy and Cadence are fighting over who gets to snuggle with me." Said the colt simply, pointing a hoof to Cadence on the left side of the bed, her yellow beam of aura meeting with Shining's blue aura from the other side of the bed. As a result, the colors made green. "I'm gonna be a fat changeling." He noted from the massive amount of love he was being fed. RevelationChrysalis sat bored upon her throne. Nothing amazing. Her throne is where she sat most of the day, planning evil plots and thinking over her life. Many years of doing the same thing over and over had gotten to her. She sighed as she took the last remaining of twenty changelings in her magic. She looked ahead at her target, a flimsy dart board, taking a deep breath. Sticking out her tongue, she lay the changeling straight in the air. She winced her eyes, readying her final throw. "Your highness!" Boomed a guard changeling, another matching his size and mass as they burst in through the door. The clang of the door against the wall startled Chrysalis, scaring her into making her throw. The changeling closed his eyes, preparing for impact. Chrysalis gasped, watching as he just missed the board. The changeling remained stuck in the wall, his horn had impaled it. She turned a bemused look to the changelings who had entered. "You couldn't have picked a better time to interrupt me?" She asked, the annoyance clear in her voice as she leaned a head onto a hoof on the armrest. The changelings bowed their heads before their queen. "We apologize, your highness." "Now, what have you come to bug me about?" She snarled before having a small chuckle at her own pun. "It's the hive your majesty" Said one of the changelings. "We have suspicions they're rebelling." Continued the other. Chrysalis raised a brow. "Rebelling?" She asked with a small smile as she stood from her throne. Slowly she made her way to the pair of changelings before her, their larger, muscular size even no match to Chrysalis as she towered a whole foot above them. "Yes, Queen Chrysalis..." Gulped the left one. "Hmmm...." Chrysalis smirked. "My plan is working smoothly so far.", the changeling monarch thought to herself as she stepped past them. She left her throne room and into the dark hall, dimly lit by torches burning green and blue flames. She turned right down the hall. She sighed a little, feeling something missing. She lowered her head to her left slightly. "I love you, mommy!" She remembered he would say as they were never separated. He was always at her side. She missed him dearly. She truly loved her son. She wished she didn't have to send them off to be with the ponies, but it was either that plan or scrap by with whatever towns they could find to raid. She inwardly sighed. "I love you too..." Chrysalis whispered to herself as she entered the balcony that looked over the main hall. There was the loud ruckus of changelings hollering and arguing among themselves, at least until she came into view. "There she is!" She heard a large drone floating above the rest of the changelings yell. "We've been starving for too long!" Another shouted. "How can we trust her when she failed last time?!" Said another. Chrysalis took a deep breath. "My loyal subjects!" All went quiet and all heads turned to face Chrysalis. "I know very well my last attempt to feed you all ended in failure, but that was then! This is now! We knew little of the ponies then, what they were and weren't capable of! Now with experience, we have hope we'll succeed this time, as plans have been underway since yesterday! This time it wasn't a full on assault. I've gone for a more stealthy, fool proof plan that can't POSSIBLY fail!" "And where is the prince?!" Asked the floating changeling. "He hasn't been seen!" Chrysalis smiled. "I assure you, Night Winger is in good hooves." "But where is he?!" Chrysalis took a deep breath, fearing how her subjects may react to her next answer. "He's with his father. Shining Armor." Gasps were heard and everything went silent as many jaws hit the floor. "Now, you may be wondering why would I send my own son to be with our enemy? Well, with said experience as mentioned before, those ponies are a bunch of mushy, love factories! And since the princess of love happens to be Shining's wife, Night Winger is probably being over fed as we speak." "At least HE gets love!" Muttered one of the many changelings. "Precisely. I will make periodic visits, since this is about my son, there will,be no fighting between us. But I'll take the majority of what he was fed, leaving him with what he really needs, and there should be more than enough for all of you upon return!" Chrysalis cheered, a hoof high in the air, much like Luna would have after saying "The fun has been doubled!" Many of the changeling whooped, hollered and cheered they might finally be fed, and their love famine would be brought to an end. Chrysalis smiled upon her subjects. She had a good feeling she'd be successful this time. "But isn't he supposed to lead us when you cease to? How can he, when he's with ponies?! How long is he going to stay there?!" "Until the next phase of the plan." Chrysalis smirked. "Which shall be soon enough." Some of the changelings remained unsure of this idea, and some were all for it, but there were some who were flat out against it. Chrysalis smiled and made her way to her throne room balcony. She looked up out to the sky. Although the plan seemed fail proof, there were large risks that came with it. Risks she didn't want to think of. Besides, she had a son to see. She sparked her horn, focusing as hard as she could to teleport at least halfway back to Equestria and out of the badlands. Author's Note So much talk about what's already happening, but what's to happen next? What does Chrysalis have planned? Will Night Winger become fat as he last said? Will Chrysalis even succeed? Who knows? Well, I know I do! And let me tell ya...its hard to not give any spoilers in all of this XD I also noticed this story gets featured with every update. The feature itself I don't care about, it just lets me know you guys have been enjoying this story and I thank you all for sticking with it and reading it! I hope you'll stick around for longer to see the end! Mommy!!Night Winger let out a little giggle as he ran around the corner to another corridor, Shining Armor and Princess Cadence chasing after him. He ran along the red carpet that ran along the floor, noting the contrast they had against the purple walls and crystal ceiling. Along the walls were various statues of the mane six characters in different poses. None of them sexual, mind you. Night Winger hid behind the closest one, waiting for the two Monarchs of the Crystal Empire to pass. The sound of clopping hooves on the carpet sailed on and down another hall. The colt snickered and came out of his hiding spot and then merrily trotted back down the hall he came from. He saw Starlight heading down his way and he gave her a smile. "Hi, Starlight!" He said happily to the formally evil mare. He had no clue, though. She smiled and waved back. "Night Winger, right?" The colt nods. "Can I have a hug?" Starlight Blushed, attempting to hide behind her mane. "Sure, I guess..." With a smile, Night Winger, threw himself into the pink unicorn, hugging tightly around her neck and gently nuzzles her cheek. Starlight gave a nervous chuckle and returned his hug, but Celestia be dammed, his cuteness was too much for her, and soon she found her self sitting in the hall, holding the changeling in her arms. Night Winger, now knowing how affectionate these ponies are, was no longer scared, but instead, he now demands a hug from one he just met. A hug Starlight was all too happy to accept. "You're such a cutie, you know that?" Said Starlight, rubbing a hoof over Night Winger's head. He nodded in response, curling up into the mare. "Your fur is so soft..." He says quietly, burying his face into her chest. "Thanks." After a moment of snuggles, hoof steps were heard coming down the hall. "Who's coming?" Asks Starlight. "I'll go see!" Said Night Winger cheerily. He stood and trotted down the hall, peeking his head around the corner. Starlight watches as he broke out into a smile. "Mamma!!" He ran off down the hall. Starlight giggled and followed him. Around the corner, she saw a rather tall Changeling, smirking down at her son. "How's my little Night Winger?" She cooed, picking him up in her magic. "Daddy and Cadence were fighting over who got to snuggle with me! You should have been there, mommy!" Chrysalis smiled softly, holding her son to her chest, and begins sucking the love from him. She then notices Starlight. "And who is this pony, son?" She glares at the unicorn, putting her guard up in case she were to be hostile. "That's Starlight Glimmer! She got to snuggle with me in the end! She's a really nice pony!" That made Starlight blush again. "Your son...he's a good kid...uh..." "Queen Chrysalis of the changelings." The Queen snickered, wondering how she had no clue who she was. "Oh...I was told some about you..." Starlight put a hoof to her chin. Night Winger sighed. "Like how you attacked Canterlot..." "And I heard about you, Starlight." Said Chrysalis. "How you tried to prevent the sonic rain boom one of Twilight's friends made in order to take away everything she had." Starlight turned her gaze to the floor, a pang she felt in her chest. She wasn't like that anymore, and it haunted her everyday to know how evil she used to be. "But I'm not like that anymore..." "Of course you aren't," Chrysalis replied, raising Starlight's chin with a hoof. "Your magic is more powerful than that of Twilight's, yet you live here in her castle I'm assuming and you haven't attacked her since?" Starlight nodded. "It disgusts me. You shouldn't change yourself for anypony." "But what I did was so wrong!" Starlight snapped. "To them, maybe." Starlight sighed. "I don't have time for this." And she left. "Where is your father?" Asked Chrysalis. Night Winger shrugged. "I was playing tag with him and Cadence. Cadence was it. I hid behind that statue there and they ran past me. I don't know here he-" "Chrysalis!" Came Shining's voice. Chrysalis smirked over her shoulder. "Why, hello, Shining Armor." She replied and turned to face him and Cadence. "How have you been?" She asks, placing Night Winger down on the floor. "We've been well. You?" Cadence answered. "I just came to say hi to the family! Also, since you've clearly been stuffing Night Winger full of love, I'm taking some back to the hive to feed my subjects! This'll be more than they've had in a long time!" "That's nice, I suppose." Said Shining. "He hasn't been hurt has he? I mean, this is Twilight's castle! Why are you here, anyway with him?" "We ran a DNA test to see if you weren't lying about him being my son." Chrysalis smirked, approaching the couple. "And the test was positive, I know." "What's your plan, Chrysalis?" Asked Cadence coldly. Chrysalis smiled. "My plan? Oh, Cady...my plan is merely to stop by now and again, take some love and bring it to the hive! I knew you'd both take a strong liking to Night Winger, so I don't have to worry feeding him anymore, and with the amount you e fed him, there's more than enough for the rest of the hive! Now, I must be going! They're hungry!" ***** "Chrysalis has gone mad!" Said a rather bulky changeling to the rest of his group of three lings. "She sent his son off to be with the ponies and he's supposed to lead us?!" The others nodded in agreement. "What if there wasn't a son to take over?" Asked another ling, taller than the rest and a little on the skinny side. The other two gazed over questionably at him. "Then WHO would?" Asked a third changeling, a female one, who unlike the other beared pink eyes. "IT WOULD BE ME!!" The large changeling boasted, standing for his seat, sticking out his chest. "Well, whoever it is, we've got work to do..." Smirked the tall one. Author's Note I know this wasn't much of a chapter at all, and I'm sorry. It's just a filler to the next part. Sorry to make it a bore... Pony napped!Author's Note I'm thinking of changing his name to Knight Winger. Beware to have your feels taken. Pony napped! It's been a week since his mother's last visit, and Night Winger was beginning to miss her. He stared out the open window and into the cold night. He was at least happy he was with his father. Night smiled out to the starry sky, gazing upon the full moon. A cool draft chilled against his hard chitin, making the colt shiver in the slightest. He noticed the town of Ponyville below, watching as few ponies come and go at this time of night. He wondered what they were up to as the trotted along the dirt roads. How he wished he could go out and join the crowd, but being a changeling would make for a challenging changeling challenge the changeling would challengingly challenge. Challengingly. He giggled at that thought, a hoof over his mouth to muffle it, hoping not to wake his father. Suddenly he needed to pee. Still, he did not want to wake Shining, so, quiet as he could, he tip-hoofed his way out of the room and into the hall, dimly lit by many torches. He'd used the bathroom before, so he knew just where to go, and went off left down the hall. He passed a few doors, all the same, being double doors, until he came to a single wooden door. He smiled and quickly went in to relieve his business. For a minute or two he sat, releasing his "apple juice" and "chocolate fudge chunk pudding" into the toilet. He let out a sigh of relief, wiping himself clean. Next he hopped onto the sink and began to wash his hooves, giggling how the water flowed through his holed. "Why do changeling legs look like Swiss cheese?" He asked himself aloud, giggling a little more afterward. After he finished washing his dirty little hooves, he gazed into the mirror, large blue pupils staring back at him. He was a changeling of royalty, so he had pupils for eyes, instead of the, being flushed with one whole color. He noticed his eye color matched Shining's and he smiled, thankful to have a father who loves him. For a minute he mad random silly faces in the mirror, hoping to appease his boredom, which is what awoke and kept him awake this night. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. "Yeah?" Night Winger answered. "It's me, son!" Came Shining's voice. The changeling smiled and left the bathroom, seeing his father. "Hi daddy!" He said happily. Shining smiled and rubbed the colt's head ever so gently. "What are you doing up so late?" Night Winger blushed. "I had to go pee, daddy." "Oh," Shining chuckled. "Come with me. There's something I want to show you!" Shining said with a smile and began walking down the hall, away from their room. Night Winger tilted his little head, but followed anyway. "Where are we going?" Asked the curious Night Winger. "You'll see!" Replied Shining and as the rounded a corner, Night Winger took notice of Cadence and Twilight there, too. He was confused. "What are you guys all doing up?" "Oh nothing," said Twilight. "Just this!" She smirked and before he knew it, he had a strip of tape wrapped over his mouth and all the way around his head to the back where the two end met. Shocked, he mumbled for them to take it off, at least until Cadence slipped a sack over him, which she tied shut, sealing him inside. "Knock him out." Said Shining. Night Wingers pupils shrank when he felt a hoof come into contact with his skull, and be blacked out from the force of the hit. ***** As the sun rose, Shining woke in his bed, the feeling of his son cuddled against him was missing. His eyes flew open, and suddenly he sat up, he checked if he had gone to lay with Cadence on her side of the bed, but Cadence only cuddled a mere pillow. "Honey!" Shining yelled, nudging his wife with his hooves. Cadence moaned and rolled over and smiled upon seeing her husband's face. "Yes, my knight in Shining Armor?" She asked. "Night Winger is missing!" He said suddenly, jumping up from the bed and he began to search the room, frantically for any signs of his son. "What?!" Was Cadence's only response as she began searching just as hard, if not harder. "Go tell Twilight!" Shining ordered. Cadence nodded and ran out of the room. Sadly, after two hours of searching, they came to the conclusion Night Winger was officially missing. ***** Night Winger struggled in the bag in which he was contained, crying, pleading, confused as to why the ones he thought loved him would suddenly do this to him. He wasn't out for long. Having a thick skull like his mother served him well for that. Suddenly the bag was opened and he was dropped out. He saw only Cadence and Shining this time. "Awe, look at him cry!" Said Cadence. Shining shook his head. "I'm disappointed in you, son!" From where he sat, tears were streaming down his cheeks. "Who would love such a nasty changeling like you, huh?" Cadence spat. As Night Winger cried his pleas, he noted the surrounding. Creepy trees surrounded them, and a cold breeze made him shiver. "And don't go running back to your mother! She was only using you to get to us! But we can't let that happen. So, we found the only conclusion would be to get rid of you!" Shining glared, his face mere inches from Night Winger's. "Let us go now, honey. We've got an empire to protect!" Shining nodded and ripped the tape from Night Winger's mouth. For a second they smirked upon him before teleporting away, leaving Night Winger on his own. A sharp pang was felt in his chest as he sat there, registering what had just happened. His father has suddenly dumped him here in the forest, and it turns out his mother is just using him. He took in a deep breath as he simply laid down in the soil. He curled up and began to cry. Missing"Why would he just run away?" Flurry Heart whimpered, gazing down at the spot where she sat on the large bed. Shining was pacing again, his cheeks swelled from mourning in the morning. "I don't know...none of us know..." Twilight mumbled. "I'd send some troops out to look for him," Shining began, "but they'd never believe I have a changeling for a son..." "Well, we have to do something, and just sitting here stating the obvious won't help." Cadence spoke up, walking over to the door. Spike only chuckled from his spot on Twilight's back. "First you guys were desperate to get rid of them, now it's much the opposite!" Shining stopped and turned a glare to Spike. "He's my SON!" Flurry Heart sighed. "I just hope he's alright...a little kid like him out there..." "Well, if we're going, we're going now. Each second wasted is another second my son could be in danger." Shining stated firmly. Twilight nodded. "You guys start looking, and I'll get my friends! I know they'll understand!" "Good idea." Shining agreed. With that said, Twilight galloped over to the window, and swiftly flew out to the skies. ***** Night Winger breathed heavily as he ran, the sound of barking and growling Timberwolves gaining on him as he ran past many trees. He dodged bushes and branches, jumped over twigs and logs, tears flying from his eyes. "Somepony help me!!" he screamed again, for maybe the sixth time. His little legs were growing exhausted with every step as beads of sweat rolled down his face. He dared to look back. They were closing in fast, demanding their stomachs be filled. Sadly, Night Winger was on tonight's menu. He saw the evil, yellow glow in their eyes as they followed. Five of them he counted out, probably more, but in the end it wouldn't matter if they caught him. His lungs burned, his throat swelled, and legs ached. Adrenaline was the only thing keeping him going. But, unluckily for him, his juice was running low. He pushed harder just to keep the same pace, yet still too slow for the pursuing canines. Try as he might, he was getting nowhere. Just up ahead, a tree, a hole dug underneath, seeming just big enough for him to fit into. Harder he pushed, his legs hurting now from being pushed so hard. He'd reached his limit. Just when he thought he'd reach his destination, it happened. SWIPE, went the Timberwolf's claws against the right side of his flank, causing him to fall. The scratched burned as blood seeped through the cuts. Night Winger yelped in pain, left only to watch as the Timberwolves neared, growling low through beared fangs and sharp teeth. One stood over him as he curled up. "I'm sorry mommy...I'm sorry daddy.." he muttered as his last words, and another tear slipped from his eye. The wolf opened its mouth, ready to strike. Night Winger shut his eyes tight, thinking this was the end for him. Only, the strike didn't come. Daringly, he peeked to see the wolf had fallen over, unconscious. "Back I say!" came a voice. "Go now and flee! On this changeling you shall not feed!" Weak and tired as he was, he turned his blurry gaze. A zebra, waving a torch hollered rhymes and the wolves fled. He wished he could smile. He wished he could thank this character, but he was run dry. He blacked out. ****** With a heavy groan, Night Winger slowly opened his eyes. First off, he noted an unfamiliar face to him. It seemed to be feminine. The face had ocean blue eyes, white and grey stripes and gold rings hang from her ears. "I see you have awoken from your slumber! Had I not found you, I fear those Timberwolves would have done you quite the number." said the zebra. Night Winger sighed, the memories coming back to him as he sat up. "Seeing them chase you gave me quite a fright. It is not normal for them to be out in daylight." The changeling rubbed his head. "My name is Zecora. What is yours?" the Zebra asked. "N-Night Winger..." he replied, taking in his new surroundings. It was a small hut, shelves mostly made up the walls with various bottles with different contents and strangers masks hang from the ceiling. In the center of the room sat an empty cauldron. To his right was the door, with a small round window to either side of it. "What's a changeling like you doing here? You were out cold for two days, I had much to fear!" "Really? Two days?" Zecora nodded. Night Winger turned his eyes to the floor and noticed bandages around his right hind leg and around his flank. "The large one swiped you good, even with claws made out of wood," she simply stated, standing from where she sat on the floor. Night Winger then noticed gold rings around the zebra's neck, one around the base of the tail, and a few others. "Where am I?" "Where are we, you ask? Why, the Everfree Forest, not a place one would like to bask!" "Oh...well...thanks for saving me...I guess..." Night Winger muttered, recalling the other night's events rather clearly. "I should get going now..." "If you wish to leave the Everfree, I simply ask you to follow me." Zecora smiled, heading for the door. Night Winger shrugged and followed the zebra out of the hut. ***** "We...we're sorry your highness!" cried the larger of the three rebelling changelings. Unlucky for them, Chrysalis caught them out of the hive and the tall one spilled the beans. Chrysalis glared at them as she slammed the cell shut, trapping the trio inside. "My son is missing now, thanks to you three! He could possibly be dead!" Chrysalis spat. "No, I must go and find him! You've given him reason to hate me! You're lucky I don't kill you now!" The three lings backed up to the opposite side of the cell, nodding rapidly as to show understandment. "If he's dead, YOU will be!" she barked, pointing a hoof to each of the three before she took the cell key and locked the door. She began to walk back, out of the dungeons, smirking to herself, she lets out an evil little cackle. "My plan is working!" Author's Note Yay! Another cliffhanger!! I hate auto correct. Also, Chrysalis is not yet finished with her plan. It goes farther in! Keeping it together"Before we head out and depart," began Zecora with a hoof to her chest. "I shall feed you what you need, from deep within my heart." Night Winger tilted his head in misunderstanding. The zebra's rhyming words confused and boggled his mind. "What do you mean, Zecora?" She smiled, giving the changeling a little nuzzle to his cheek. "It means we're going to cuddle." "Ooh...." With a smile, Zecora sat on her haunches, and pulled Night Winger close, resting her head upon his. He smiled, feeding off of Zecora's love, snuggling into her chest. He'd barely known this strange, rhyming character, but he was starving! It saddened him. He remembered how Shining Armor used to hold him like this, but that was then, and he'd left him out to die. It brought tears to his eyes. He was the happiest little colt in the world, he had a father, a sister and a step mother to love, but they had all gone and betrayed him. Soon, holding it back didn't seem like it was possible, and Night Winger began to sob. Zecora seemed worried, holding the changeling tight in her forelegs. "Hush little one, don't you cry." Zecora says softly. "Why your father would leave you there, I don't know why." "I thought he loved me!!" Night Winger wept, burying his face into the zebra's chest, soaking her fur with his tears. Sighing, Zecroa held him close, wishing there was something she could do. During the two days he was here, Zecora would read him a tale before going to bed, even though he was unconscious. He'd lost a lot of blood from the Timberwolf attack, and while he was here, she made it a known fact she'd protect him. She didn't let go of him. She let him cry, doing what she could to cheer him up. Nuzzles, tight hug, reassuring words. Not even a small kiss on the head could do it. After some time, he managed to stop his crying, but stayed in Zecora's hold. As of now, he was depending on her to keep him safe. He didn't even want to leave her lap. As Zecora attempted to get up, Night Winger would whimper. Softly, Zecora smiled. "Dear child, let me hold you tight, to show you things will be alright." Zecora smiled. Night Winger nodded, and curled himself up into her. After a bit of time, he had fallen asleep, comfortable in Zecora's arms. Zecora sighed. It pained her to see such a young child so sad and depressed. She didn't let go of him, she kisses his forehead and begins to rock back and forth. She had no clue who to turn to for help. It's not like she could waltz into Ponyville with him. So, she made a rather big decision. One she was all too happy to make. She was going to keep him and raise him as her own. ***** Queen Chrysalis lay on her bed, staring at nothing. She was sad. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Her plan was going well. Perfect actually. It was all falling into place. But using her son as her only means of doing so was killing her from inside. She wanted her Night Winger back. She wanted to hold him and tell him she loved him. A tear leaked from her right eye. All she's put her son through these past couple weeks. He probably has found out by now and probably hates her. A pillow, a sad excuse for a substitute for her son she held. That pillow she held tight, wishing it were her beloved Night Winger. She missed watching him run circles around her as they wandered the hive. She missed hearing his giggles and laughter. This plan of her was indeed fool proof, but it was a rather large gamble. Will Night Winger still hate her at the end of it all? Queen Chrysalis was evil, but even the worst of enemies need to cry sometimes. She shoved her face into the pillow as the tears began to flow. This plan of hers would either make her or break her. She wanted her son home. She wanted to hear his sweet little voice. She wanted to hold him close as they slept. Night Winger was a big part of her and she loved him with every fiber of her very being. Her silent weeping soon became quiet sobs and as she continued to wish for her son back, she found herself bawling her very eyes out. She didn't care if any of her drones heard her crying. This was her SON she was crying over. She felt like a failure. Unable to feed him sufficiently. She had no choice but to leave him with Shining Armor. It was hard for her to leave. The ponies that were her enemies were the very ones she left him with. She hated herself for it, but it had to be done. Slowly she got up from her bed, wiping her eyes with her hooves. She stand there beside her bed, taking a few calming breaths. Never before had she cried. It was new to her. It made her feel pathetic she did it so openly. Slowly, she went out to her balcony and looked out to the morning sky. She needed to be strong, but she didn't feel it. She felt like a traitor to her own son. All she could do now is hope he was safe and sound. Memories of happy times with her beloved son began to flow through her mind. His first birthday, his first tooth and lost tooth. His first everything really. She remembered when she first found out she was pregnant with him. The news went viral within the hive. Her subjects were all happy for her, many bringing her gift baskets, congratulating her, and telling her good luck. When she gave birth finally, it had been the happiest day of her life. She was a mommy. "Mommy loves you, sweetie," Chrysalis said to herself, gazing up to the sky. Author's Note Sorry this one took a while...I had a bit of writers block :( Always Missing YouAnother week has slowly passed. Night Winger is still upset from losing his parents, but he's now under the care of a very generous Zecora. It was a tragic loss and a near death experience that had left the sad changeling whimpering himself to sleep at nights, and refusing to eat for the next few following days. He's trying to cope, though. Zecora has been plenty nice to him and feeds him well. At nights she'll comfort his cries and read him stories. The never ending rhyming began to make him giggle as his spirits began to lift. Now, Night Winger sits on a chair in his new home, temporarily most likely, gazing out the window, waiting for Zecora's return. It was midday, and she had gone out to Ponyville to get something to eat. Night Winger had never had pony food, even when he was With Shining Armor and Cadence. They didn't want to chance him getting sick. Or at least he hoped he remembered that's what they said. He couldn't stop thinking of them. That night they left him there in the Everfree seemed rather suspicious. He knew they loved him....right? Even if they meant to give him away, they wouldn't leave him here, that's for sure. The more he thought about it, the more it seemed fishy. The day he and Cadence fought over who'd snuggle with him showed they obviously loved him. It was never ending snuggles and games and fun with them. He also wondered why they ended up staying a week instead of leaving as they said they would the next day. So much was on his mind. As he thought, there was a knock on the door. He turned his head, wondering who that could possibly be. Zecora told him not to open the door at all, especially since this was the Everfree. He wondered if it was Zecora, but normally she'd announce it was her. Night Winger cantered over to the door, standing on his hind legs, he put his forelegs up on the will of the window and peered out. He smiled, and pulled the door open with his mouth, unlocking it first. "Hi, Zecora!" Night Winger smiled, throwing his forelegs around the zebra's barrel and nuzzles her chest. "What took you so long this time?" he wondered, turning his head up to look at her. Zecora smiled. "I'm back, aren't I?" Night Winger nodded. "What's for lunch?" Zecora reached her muzzle into her satchel and pulled out a wrapped up hay burger. Night Winger took it into his green aura of magic and un wrapped it. "What is it?" The zebra shrugged. "It's what they gave me." "Oh." Night Winger went in for a bite. He chewed slowly, not sure how he was supposed to eat it. He swallowed, and his eyes lit up. "Yummy!" he smiled and began chewing happily away at the burger, sitting there in the middle of the floor. Zecora smiled softly, her legs trembling slightly. Her eyes began to tear up as she watched Night Winger smile before her. "I'm glad you like it..." said Zecora in a soft tone. Night Winger looked up at her and tilted his little head. "Why aren't you rhyming? You haven't said anything without rhyming once or twice since I've been with you." Zecora chuckled nervously. "Heh. Who said I can't take a break from it for once?" Night Winger shrugged. "Good point. Can you hold me?" Zecora nodded, sitting down next to Night Winger, she pulls him into her lap and holds him close. "If only you knew how much I miss you." Chrysalis thought to herself, holding her son as close as she could, absorbing some of the love he's been fed. ***** "He's missing?!" Celestia gasped, dropping the letter she'd just read. Luna had just been passing by Celestia's room and heard the random outburst, so curiously she poked her head in. "Who is missing, dear sister?" Celestia looked up to her sister from where the letter lay upon the blankets on her bed. She was a bit too shocked to answer. It struck her the changeling she wanted to snuggle is now missing! It was a struggle of missing snuggles and huggly huggles! "Well...who was it?" Luna asked again, approaching her sister who seemed too shocked to even move, save for her twitching eye. The Lunar Princess shrugged, taking the letter into her magical aura, reading as her sister remained solid. Dear Princess Celestia, A week ago, Shining Armor's changeling son has gone missing. We've searched all of Ponyville, but have come up with nothing. We're not too sure how you feel about him yet, but since this is a family matter, we at least ask for your assistance. Shining Armor has been heavily affected by this. He won't eat, he cries at night, he won't even get out of bed! It hurts to see him like this, Princess. I know he's a changeling, but he's Shining Armor's only son. I simply ask for your assistance in finding him, as none of us have been in too much of a good mood since his disappearance. Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle. Luna paced as she read, but stopped in her tracks as she finished. "Shining Armor has a changeling SON?!" Luna's eyes rolled into her head and she fell, unconscious. Celestia on the other hoof flared her wings, and shot out the near open window. "With...myself as my witness, I vow if I find He's been hurt, I will find his perpetrator(s) and they will not see the light of day again!!" Celestia's mane and tail whipped and flickered, the colors all fading into a bright orange, burning with the rage that burned in Celestia's heart, her eyes bright red with anger as she shot into the sky. "Don't worry, Night Winger. I'm coming for you!" Author's Note Yeah, yeah, Solar Flare is a bit much. But it's a bit funny, isn't it? Normally she'd go ape shit on any changeling in sight, but now she's going ape shit to help this one! ...Ironic...isn't it? Power...or Love?Chrysalis sat, rocking her only son back and forth as he sat in her lap, munching away at the hay burger in his tiny hooves. He smiled up at her, nuzzling her fur, thinking it was Zecora. How Chrysalis has yearned for this. To hold her son in a warm embrace once more, knowing everything was okay. The love deprivation has begun to afflict many drones, causing them to grow I'll and unable to do their duties. A few casualties besides natural causes have begun to show up. She was only doing her job in feeding her subjects. She had to. Being hated by every species in Equestria only made it even harder. For days she wretched her brain to think of something, anything to feed her hive. To keep her son healthy. Her plan was working smoothly. Flawless so far. Everything was turning out exactly as she wanted them to. Yet, it's not what she wanted. Having to use her own child by throwing him out into a world of hate, seeming cute and caring, but it was all a lie. Shining, Cadence, Twilight, nor Celestia knew what was really going on. What Chrysalis was really planning. To them, she was only making visits to bring love back to her hive and nothing more. But it was so much more than that. It was something she spent longer deciding to do than working out the plan itself! But these were desperate times. The casualties began to rise faster and faster. She had to act. It was her only means of feeding her hive. She had no choice. She smiles back down at her son, his large blue pupils showing happily into her gaze. If her plan failed, at least Zecora would be here to care for him. If she succeeded, it was only a matter of hoping things would turn out her way in the end. "I love you, Zecora!" Night Winger said happily with his muzzle full of food. Chrysalis forced a smile onto her cheeks. "I love you as well." "You...won't throw me out like my daddy did...will you?" "But he didn't throw you out..." Chrysalis thought to herself. "Of course not." Night Winger smiled, but frowned moments later. "And you won't lie to me and use me like my mommy did...right?" That got Chrysalis to choke on her words. Her son felt as if she didn't love him. She began to tear up, her hooves trembling as she held him tightly. Suddenly the door burst open and Zecora entered. "Night Winger, what did I-" Zecora cut herself off as she was suddenly staring at herself. Both changelings turned their heads to the zebra. "Oh, pony feathers!" Chrysalis sighed. "I didn't know you had a twin, Zecora!" Night Winger giggled up to Chrysalis, snuggling in her hold. Chrysalis took a deep breath and changed to her true form, hanging her head. "M-mom?!" Chrysalis nodded. Night Winger sat for a moment, shocked she was here. How did she know he was here? He didn't care. He had to get away, and so he struggled free from his mother's grip and ran behind one of Zecora's forelegs. "What do you want?" Zecora asked firmly, glaring at the changeling queen. Chrysalis sighed once more and slowly stood. "What I want? I want for my drones to stop falling dead in front of me, dammit!" Zecora was taken back by the snap. "Night Winger, go to your room for now..." Night Winger nodded and quickly moved past Chrysalis and ran up the stairs. "What are you doing here, then, Chrysalis?" asked the zebra. "To see my son! Why else?!" Chrysalis snapped. Zecora frowned. "And why was he alone in the Everfree? He wouldn't be here if it weren't for me!" "I don't know!" Chrysalis lied. "I let his father look after him for a while, and from there I have no clue where he might have and might not have been!" she lied again. "Then how did you know he was here? I can sense your lies. Lies that will ruin your bond with him I fear." Zecora said softly. Chrysalis began taking more deep breaths as tears began to stream down her cheeks. "I'm trying, okay?! I've got a colony of drones to feed and I don't know what to do! I was merely flying past and something told me to come here! Why are you attacking me for wanting to see my own child?! A child I can hardly even feed now days?!" Zecora was silent for a few moments, taking in a deep breath as well. The changeling queen was in her home and crying. "I can see it in your heart, Chrysalis. You're trying to do your part, but in a way that will end in crisis." Chrysalis turned her gaze to the floor, watching as her tears fell one after the other. "You want to see your Night Winger, on good terms, one can easily figure. But he I know does not want to see one who lies. You can change, Chrysalis. Before his hope in you dies." "What do you mean?" Chrysalis choked out. "Did you not see? The way from you he did flee?" Zecora shut the front door and fully entered her home. Chrysalis nodded. "You are his mother. Keep going the way you are, and relations you have with him you will smother." "I had no choice..." Chrysalis mumbled. "My son...my changelings...they need love...they're dying..." Chrysalis closed her eyes, tears dripping down one after the other. "I just want to help them..." Zecora placed a hoof upon Chrysalis's shoulder. "But is it worth risking your son's love?" Chrysalis looked down to the zebra. Why she cared confused her. They were enemies of species. Chrysalis didn't answer. "He looks up to you. He wants a good mother. It's not too late to start anew." "But I am a good mother...aren't I?" "I'm sure you are. But a change in perception can take you far." Chrysalis groaned, unable to wrap her mind around what this zebra has been saying. "You may have had bad intentions in the past, but don't put your son last." Chrysalis still said nothing. "Night Winger!" Zecora called out. Seconds later, the changeling colt was trotting down the stairs. "Yes, Zecora?" "What do you see of your mother? Be honest." Night Winger looked down, scuffing a hoof into the floor. "Well...I don't know...really...I want to love her, but...she does bad things..." That hurt Chrysalis right to the core. "Thank you, Night Winger. You may go back upstairs." With a nod, the colt fluttered his wings and he flew slowly up the steps. "And you, Chrysalis." Zecora began. "You may sleep here, tonight. You've got a big decision to make. I hope you choose the one that's right." Zecora gaze Chrysalis a gentle nuzzle before going upstairs to be with Night Winger. Author's Note Ooohhh! Even MORE suspense AND a cliffhanger!! Jeez, I'm gonna kill you guys with this XD The Search Goes OnAuthor's Note Yay, another chapter! This also explains the age thing with Night Winger The Search Goes On "Any sign of him, yet, Dash?!" Shining Armor yelled up to Rainbow Dash from his balcony. Rainbow shrugged with a shake of her head. "Nothing, yet." Shining Armor lowered his head with a heavy sigh and went back into his room. "Okay." "Shining?" The distressed unicorn lifted his head, his alicorn sister entered the room. "Yeah?" Twilight approached him and placed a hoof on his shoulder. "I know it seems hopeless, but we will find him. I know we will." Shining sighed again. "Why did he run away, though? We...we treated him right...didn't we?" Twilight nodded. "Of course you did. I've been thinking of that as well...why would he run away? You were giving him more love than he would ever need! It just...seems fishy...I don't think he ran away." "Well...we've still gotta find him!" Shining suddenly snapped. A long pause followed. "Look...I'm sorry for snapping...it's just..." "I understand, Brother. You can't help but miss your son...I miss him too." Twilight sniffed. "I never thought I would have cared for a changeling so much." Shining Armor gave a small nod of his head. "Thanks..." "Wanna go look for him together? It's going to be dark out soon." Shining nodded again. "Sure." As they were about to head out of the room, the sky suddenly began to light up a bright orange. Twilight, being Twilight, was curious and went over to the window. "What's going on out there?" Shining joined her, squinting his eyes. "It...looks like...a pony..." "What? Where?" Then sudden sound of crackling flames filled their ears, the glow becoming brighter, then the sound of clopping hooves in the room. Both Royal ponies had to cover their eyes due to the immense amount of light, and over the sound of flames came an angry, booming voice... "WHERE IS HE?!?!" ***** "Thank you," Chrysalis said To Zecora as she left her and Night Winger in peace. Zecora nodded and went back downstairs. Chrysalis closed the door behind her and sighed, staring at the lump on the bed covered in a purple blanket. "Night Winger?" "What do you want?" he asked, sounding rather unamused. "To apologize." Chrysalis said softly as she came to sit on the bed. "You know I love you...right?" "Sure, when you lie to me all the time." Night Winger rolled his eyes. Chrysalis lowered her head. "I don't...it's not...intentional...that I lie..." "So you admit to lying? And if it isn't intentional, why do you do it?" Chrysalis reached a hoof out to Night Winger. Beads of sweat rolled down her cheeks as her hoof hovered just above the covers. "Well...it's part of the reason I don't really let you outside..." "Why?" Chrysalis sighed. "Well...our species...we're not very well liked...by anyone else. Dragons, ponies, diamond dogs, you name it. They hate us." "What does that have to do with lying to me?!" Night Winger snapped, tears stinging his eyes. "It's kind of hard to go and get love from the other species to feed you and the others when we're hated by everything living in Equestria, Night Winger!" Again, Night Winger rolled his eyes. "They wouldn't hate us if you would try and break up a wedding just for power and TAKING love! That must be pretty embarrassing. You beat Celestia with a single hit, yet you STILL lose in the end." Chrysalis gasped, taken back by this. "Well, what do you expect them to think?! We look like monsters to them, not only that, we come from the badlands! What kind of image do you think that gives us in the first place?! They've hated us even before I came to power! I only do the things I do because I love you! I wish I could just go and ask for love and be done with it, but that's not how it works!" Chrysalis yelled, standing from the bed. "You got fed plenty with Shining, didn't you?" Night Winger was silent. "I hated leaving you to them ponies, but I knew they'd at least feed you! I hated myself for leaving you there! I didn't want to, but times were desperate and I couldn't let you die next!" Chrysalis continued to rant, tears streaming down her cheeks. "I love you, Night Winger! I don't lie to hurt you, I lie to keep you alive! You're my only child! You...You almost died on me already!" Chrysalis fell to the floor, burying her face into the side of the bed. Night Winger looked down. Another thing he wasn't told about has been brought to light. Slowly, he removed the covers from his head, only to see his mother's face buried into the bed. "Almost died? What do you mean?" Chrysalis took a few deep breaths, wiping her face of her tears and stands. "When you were born...the doctor...he dropped you!" Night Winger gasped. "Do you even know the chances of living through that?! Your skull...just pieces, not even given time to form together, and he dropped you! Your brain could have been turned to mush! I...you...you were in a coma! Unlike those ponies, we don't have high tech equipment to make sure you're okay! All we knew was that your heart was still beating..." Night Winger turned his gaze down, only for his head to be lifted with Chrysalis's hoof. "You were in a coma for two and a half years. Two and a half years I stayed in that room with you, praying you'd wake up soon. I stayed there at your bedside, holding your wee little hoof...it killed me each day to see you hardly clinging to life. At least we don't need food to survive...I could just feed you with any love my drones came back with. I was so thankful...when you opened your eyes...after those two years..." "Mommy...I didn't know..." Night Winger muttered. "I love you, Night Winger. You can choose to believe I don't...but whatever you think of me, hate me all you want...I'm not leaving you!" Chrysalis began crying again as she hugged her son tight. "I can't...I can't risk losing you..." "I'm sorry, mamma!" Night Winger barely choked out before he began crying as well. "I love you, mamma, I'm so sorry!" Chrysalis took a deep, shaken breath, tightening her hug. "I love you too...very...very much..." Chrysalis's EpiphanyChrysalis held her son for what seemed like an eternity. They cried in each other's arms, making what they could of this moment, since moments like this weren't all too common. Night Winger nuzzled his mother's neck, weeping his last few tears as she held him tight. It hit him pretty hard how he assumed Chrysalis had no use for him, when she really loved him. He now felt like the bad one. He'd apologize, but cuddling seemed to be of great consolation for that. He even purred lightly, his forelegs around one of Chrysalis's. All in all, he was just glad to be with his mommy again. Chrysalis, on the other hoof, was still keeping secrets from him. Despite her second thoughts, she still felt she needed to go through with her plan. It was fool proof! To her at least. She was making a rather large gamble in the way she is going to feed her son and her hive. She knew those changelings would try and rid themselves of Night Winger, so she stuck around to see to it he wouldn't be harmed. Sadly she wasn't around during the Timberwolf attack, which ached her heart plenty. She hated herself for it. Knowing her son was almost killed, and still she's decided to follow through with her plan. Whether he would still love her or not, she needed to feed him and her hive, no matter the cost. She looked down at her son to find him laying still, content on top of her chest. Moments like these she wished would last forever, but with the current situation, it surprised her she was even holding him to begin with. He gazed up at her, meeting her eyes and smiles. "I love you, mamma." he says softly. Chrysalis puts on a small smile. "I love you too, my little Night Winger." She wished she could just feed him love like ponies can, but changelings can only take, and are unable to give love without taking it first. If a simple snuggle, or a nuzzle, maybe even a small hug would radiate even the smallest hint of love, it would make things so much easier on her. Her race hung in the balance, her subjects falling left and right due to love deprivation. Even her relationship with her son was hanging by a single thread, for if Night Winger discovered the truth, this may be the last time she'd be able to share this moment with him. As of now, she could only pray. Pray things would for once turn up in her favor. She chuckled a little. "Funny," she thought to herself. "Love The strongest possible force of the world, pure in goodness without a trace of evil is what makes our lives nearly impossible." "It's time to go, Night Winger," Chrysalis kissed her son's head, followed by getting off the bed. Night Winger tilted his head. "Are we going back home?" "Sort of." Night Winger shrugged and with a flare of his wings, he fluttered onto Chrysalis's back. Chrysalis trotted out of the room and down the stairs, Zecora was there, tossing random things into the massive cauldron. A few bones, a potion or two which changed the color from blue to purple, then red. Next was a feather, and a rose pedal it seemed. This was then followed by chanting and rhyming words and the color changed a third time. Chrysalis stood and watched for a moment since this was somthing she had never seen before. It confused her as to what the zebra was doing which made it so fascinating. Finally, Zecora took a ladel, taking a bit of the mixture, and pours it into a small vial. "Chrysalis." Zecora turned her gaze to the pair of changelings. Chrysalis stood silent for a moment before approaching. "Yes?" "I have made a special brew. A potion, just for you." the zebra replied, holding the vial, filled with yellow liquid. Chrysalis eye'd the small vile suspiciously. "What does it do? Do I drink it?" Zecora laughed in the slightest. " Your intentions are blind due to your stresses, I know. This special potion when you drink it, will reveal a new road, and a better path it will show." "Huh." Chrysalis took the vial,, her suspicions strong, but her curiosity stronger, and she drank the contents of the bottle. "How will I know if it works?" "In time it will show, at the right moment, but for now, you must go." Chrysalis nods and turns to the door. "For the right answers I know you seek, this potion will give you a peak." Chrysalis gives another nod and leaves the hut. With a heavy sigh, she's brought herself to get ready for the last phase of her plan. The one that would make or break her and everything she knows and so deeply loves. ***** Shining Armor backed away from the flaming creature, fear in his pin prick sized eyes as he backed into the wall. Twilight stood tall and ready for battle if the situation called for it. She glared at the creature. "Who are you and what do you want?" she said firmly. The white alicorn with red eyes, and a mane burning of fire, with a tail to match approached Twilight. "Where is Night Winger?!" came Celestia's voice. Twilight gasped in shock, taking a step back. "P-princess Celestia?!" The pony nodded, and slowly, her mane and tail calmed, and as her eyes changed once again to purple, her fiery mane became a beautiful flowing rainbow of colors. "Wherever Night Winger is, I promise, we will find him, Twilight." Twilight failed to answer. Who can answer to any question, anyway, if fall unconscious? Author's Note For some reason, this line seems familiar to me: "For the right answers, I know you seek, this potion will give you a peek." And sorry...this makes for the new shortest chapter. I'll try and make the next one over 2,000 words to compensate. Through the EverfreeAuthor's Note Sorry this update too so friggin long, but I had writer's block. I also mentioned I'd make this 2k words, but I hope 1.7k is enough. If this chapter sucks, I'm sorry. Through the Everfree Chrysalis put on hers and Night Winger's disguise as they began their trip out of the Everfree Forest. She could have simply changed and teleported away, but her mind was so full of questions and worry. She placed Night Winger on top of her back as she walked, pondering her thoughts. As of now, she simply wanted what was best for her son. It's all she ever wanted since she gave birth to him. Knowing his life was almost ripped from her before she could tell him he loved him killed her inside. Her steps were slow, her breaths were choppy, her thoughts a blur. She didn't know what was right anymore. Why was is so hard to obtain such a wonderful thing like love to feed her son? She didn't know. But she had to find a way. The dirt was wet, thick and stick underneath her hooves from yesterday's rain and the air was cold. A slight mist was noticeable and all was silent. She took each step carefully, knowing this forest was never a safe place. She lit her horn in its bright green glow to light the way through the dark night. "The only thing crazier than that zebra's ryhmes is that somehow she puts up with living out HERE of all places." Chrysalis thought to herself. "Mommy?" Came Night Winger's sweet, innocent voice, disturbing her thoughts. "Yes?" she responded, coming to a stop to allow her son to speak. Night Winger looked around, drops of rain from the leaves on the trees dripped down onto his little muzzle. "Why don't we just Teleport to wherever we are going? Wouldn't it be easier that way?" Chrysalis smiled a little and gave her son a little nuzzle. "You're always so curious, aren't you?" Night Winger shrugged. "Dunno." With a shake of her head, Chrysalis resumed walking. She stepped on the twig that was soon to come. A small recoil was all and she kept going. She had this deep gut feeling she wouldn't be getting out of here without a fight. She became more cautious now, monitoring her surroundings for any creatures lurking in the dark. This place, is where she almost lost her son a second time. She may be a small pony now, but she still had all the power she needed to incinerate any opposing creature. "Mom?" "Yes, Sweetie?" "Why did Daddy leave me here? Doesn't Daddy love me? What about Flurry Heart? Or Cadence? Why...did they just give me up?" Chrysalis stopped once again. A question she knew was coming. The answer she gives could dramatically alter her plan or if she decides not to, it'll be mother lie Night Winger would discover in the end. It was a question that could change everything. Chrysalis froze, asking herself if she should even bother. She stares down at her hooves, her ears drooped. Should she risk ruining her plan? Or risk losing her son? "I..." was all she managed to get out as she resumed walking, slower than before, her eyes locked on the ground. "I...what?" asked Night Winger. Chrysalis shut her eyes tight. "I don't know..." Night Winger lowered his head. "Okay..." Chrysalis found herself fighting tears now as she walked. The tears blurred her vision as she trudged through the dirt, onward to Ponyville. Night Winger took in all the sights of this forest. All he knew and feared as of now, we're the wolves. The Timberwolves who almost had him for supper his first night here. He was broken to wake, thinking he'd lost everything, but little did he know his father was worried sick about him. Little did he know of his mother's plan, or what would come to be further down the road. He didn't even know where they were going. He wanted to see his Daddy again. He wanted to play hide and seek with Flurry, he wanted to cuddle with Starlight or read comics with spike. They were his friends and family he thought. He had no clue his thoughts were true, or how much they all really missed him. He'd never been so happy before, to be surrounded by so many loving faces, who had little care for the fact he was a changeling. It made him happy he could run through the halls without being questioned or judged for his appearance. He remembered when Shining and Cadence were fighting over who would get him to themself. In the end, Starlight did, since the two royals tired themselves out. He really missed Starlight as well. They'd just talk about their life problems as they stared out a random window. They'd make each other feel better about any wrongs or simply to just...cuddle. Learning of Starlight's past made Night Winger see even ponies were bad. He was there when she cried. She couldn't bear to let anybody witness it, so she simply bottled it up. To Night Winger, Starlight Glimmer was his best friend and Starlight Glimmer was more than happy to have a friend once more to hopefully stick with her. Because of Chrysalis's plan, he thinks they all hate him. A single tear leaked from his eye as they continued on through the forest. A low growl quickly got their attention. "Who's there?!" Chrysalis demanded as she whipped her head around in an attempt to find the source of the noise. Another low, deeper growl from somewhere else nearby came through the bushes. "Mommy, it's the wolves, just go!" Night Winger urged, pushing his mother forward. Chrysalis nodded, and quickly went into a gallop, the Timberwolves jumped out at her, each failing to hit their target, but soon gave chase, barking away. Chrysalis quickly changed herself back so her longer legs would be able to carry her faster. Chrysalis kept running, hoping to get somewhere and soon she came to a clearing, the clear sky above showed stars twinkling and the full moon shedding its light over Equestria. "There she is!" a voice scratchy a boyish like. Chrysalis gazed up and in her sights were Princess Celestia, Twilight, Shining Armor, Princess Cadence, Twilight and her friends. The wingless ones were either pulled along or floated themselves with their magic like Starlight. She couldn't stop, or the wolves would get her. It was now she depended on these ponies to save her and her son. She had no time to turn and cast a spell. As of now, she could feel their breaths on her rear. "And she's being chased by Timberwolves!" said Rainbow Dash. The nine ponies came to land a good twenty meters ahead Chrysalis. "Move out of the way, Chrysalis!" Twilight called out And quickly lit her horn, a basketball sized sphere of static energy formed at the tip, sparking with light. Chrysalis did as told and as Twilight fired, she veered to the right, time seeming to slow as the ball of energy barely scraped her side before impacting with the wolf closest to her, sending it tumbling head over paws, the next one quickly filled it's place, along with three more. Twilight was about to charge up another shot until she felt a hoof on her shoulder. "I got this." Fluttershy stated, determined like Rainbow Dash. Twilight nodded and the cream yellow Pegasus took flight and flew past Chrysalis. "STOP!!" she roared, standing tall before the wolves who earned "the stare" from the Pegasus pony. An all too menacing glare they stopped dead in their tracks, sliding to a halt. "Just what makes you think you can go chasing others, huh? That's not very nice or polite!" Fluttershy stepped forward, the wolves taking a step back. Chrysalis watched in surprise as these ponies were here to help, the ponies she once attacked before. She turned her gaze back to the other eight, to see Princess Celestia standing in front of her. Night Winger had no clue who it was. All he hear were voices as he held tightly onto his mother's neck, his eyes shut tight. Fluttershy took another step forward towards the now whimpering wolves and flared her wings. "Go back to where you came and leave these changelings alone!" One of the wolves nodded and the all turned tail and ran, and a satisfied Fluttershy trotted merrily back to her friends. Chrysalis stared into the stern eyes of Princess Celestia. "We have much to talk about, Chrysalis. That is, if you're willing to talk." Chrysalis turned her gaze past Celestia, to the ponies behind her. She never expected this. Why were they here? Did they come for her or to save Night Winger only? She saw Shining Armor's worried expression as he stood near, Cadence at his side. They were both sharing the same expression as everyone else, save for Celestia who stood eye to eye with her. Chrysalis asked herself another question. Was it worth going on anymore? Then another. Was it worth risking her son's love and or life? Now was her chance if she wanted to continue with her plan. She had the power needed to do so. She felt another pang in her chest as she lowered her head, turning to see her son who was still clinging to her neck. She nuzzled him lightly. He misses his father. His sister. His friends. His family. She failed to see it all along, but now as she looks at these ponies, they are what he needs. To be with the ones he loves. She asked herself one last question. Was this all worth taking so much away from him? Chrysalis shed a tear and lowered her head, sealing the deal. "I'll talk." Princess Celestia nodded and with a spark of her horn, she whisked them away, back to Twilight's Castle The Spark of RebellionAuthor's Note Credit goes to Valiant Charge who actually gave me a good chapter title :D The Spark of Rebellion Chrysalis stood, in the center of the room, ten not so happy faces staring at her. She gazed nervously around Twilight's throne room, rubbing her shoulder softly with a hoof. In the presence of all these new ponies, Night Winger took cover behind Chrysalis, cowering with fear. It wasn't for long as Night Winger found himself wrapped in his mother's magic and lifted into the air, which Scared him plenty, soon being placed down in front of Shining Armor, who took him into a rather tight hug. Night Winger squirmed and screamed, as he tried to get away, but all attempts were useless as Shining Armor held tightly onto him, a tear slipping down his cheeks. "MOMMYY!!" Night Winger cried, but Chrysalis ignored him and only lowered her head. Shining Armor and Princess Cadence took Night Winger out of the room, his cries slowly fading down the halls. Celestia cleared her throat, throwing her usual poker face towards Chrysalis, who only furthered lowering her head under all these glares. "Explain." Celestia said coldly. The saddened Chrysalis, tormented by her own thoughts rose her head slightly, just enough to stare back into Celestia's eyes. "E-explain?" All the ponies currently present nodded. Chrysalis cleared her throat, followed by a nervous gulp of guilt. "Well..." Chrysalis began, her thoughts all jumbled, impeding her from thinking correctly as she tried and failed to grasp any sort of thought to help her through this. "You see..." Chrysalis' legs began to wobble. She felt pathetic, unable to even stand properly. "We're listening." Twilight said softly, a sincere smile upon her muzzle. Chrysalis pawed at the tiled floor with her right fore hoof and gave a heavy sigh. "Celestia...if you're assuming I was making yet another attempt to take over Equestria...you were right..." Chrysalis lowered her head. Gasps were heard around the room which made Chrysalis flinch. "But it wouldn't have been for me." Chrysalis said quietly, which surprised her everypony still heard. "You see...like Thorax, Night Winger is different. He only wants friends, pony friends and that. He'd always talk about ponies and ask me why we can't be friends with them...I couldn't tell him of course since...since I tried to ruin Cadence's wedding." Twilight growled slightly at that. "His love for you ponies got him hated all around by my subjects who questioned if he should take my place as ruler. I wanted him to! I-i...I wanted to find a way to prove to my subjects my son wasn't a useless mongrel as I've heard him be called!" Chrysalis threw a hoof into the air, her breaths becoming slightly choppy. "Plus, at the same time, I needed a way to provide love for the hive since...they're dying!" Chrysalis choked out just as a tear slipped from her cheek. She rubbed it away with a hoof, taking a moment to suck it all up. "My subjects now even question my capabilities...I hear them talking about starting a revolution to throw me out and things like that. They can't provide for themselves you know! So...I dropped by the Crystal Empire nearly a month ago...and basically left my son under Shining Armor and Cadence's care." "Why, Chrysalis?" Celestia asked, much softer this time out of pity for the crying Chrysalis. "I...did things with Shining Armor that I shouldn't have during my time as Cadence..." Chrysalis looked away as more gasps were heard. "How DARE you!" Celestia spat, her horn charging, mane and tail flickering as she took a step forward, lowering her head in a deep glare. Chrysalis, never having seen this side of Celestia took a step back, ridden with a fear she attempted to keep sealed, in hopes of holding onto the remaining bits of her dignity. Shook even more, watching Celestia's mane and tail turn to pure flames. Twilight held Celestia back with a foreleg. "Let her explain." Chrysalis gulped deeply. "I WAS DESPERATE!" Chrysalis roared in her defense. Everypony in the room snickered, even Celestia. "What's so funny!?" the changeling queen demanded, returning the glare back to the group of giggly ponies. "You...you said...you said you were...were desperate!" Rainbow managed to choke out through her laughs as she hovered above, a wide grin upon her muzzle. "I didn't mean it like that!" Chrysalis blushed deeply against her black shell. "I needed love for my subjects!" Rainbow was barely coming down from her laughing fit, tears rolling down her puffy cheeks from her reddened eyes. "You were still desperate, though!" "Rainbow!" Twilight snapped up to her Rainbow maned friend. Chrysalis rolled her eyes in annoyance with a low gruff. "Anyway, I got pregnant. How, I don't know. It just happened." Celestia stood tall once more, but till fell a couple inches shorter than Chrysalis and narrowed her eyes. "So, Shining is the father of Night Winger?" Chrysalis nodded. "Which is why I chose them to care for him...I knew Shining would understand...Twilight, Starlight, Cadence, Spike and the guards at the Empire, Shining tells me all treat him very well." Chrysalis lowered her head sadly. "Better than I ever could have." Chrysalis then sniffled once. "I know it was a big risk...but it was either a certain death, or a chance for him to live healthy...and so I took that chance...he gets to be with his daddy..." Next to sniffle was Fluttershy who seemed to be on the edge of tears, a hoof to her muzzle. Celestia even seemed a little upset from this. "Being the next to lead the changelings,my subjects didn't like it very much when I told them I left my son with ponies. Night Winger thinks Shining Armor and Cadence hate him because a group of changelings took their forms and left him in the Everfree..." All the ponies, save for Celestia gasped. "I knew it would happen. It was inevitable. I also knew he'd be taken into caring hooves." "Zecora?" Twilight asked with a tilt of her head. Chrysalis nodded. "When I came to drop off Night Winger, I saw her in the Everfree as I flew over. She seemed like a...caring zebra...and thank...the sun...I was right..." Celestia stifled a small giggle at that. "You're...very welcome." "So, I took care of those three then came back...I knew by now he'd have figured out my attack on Cadence's wedding and he'd hate me...so I took the form of Zecora and I stayed with him while she was out...but she ended up returning before I could leave. I had to explain the wedding thing to him and after that he was okay again...so then we left, and you ponies found us...just in time too." Celestia gave a small nod. "That's all perfectly well understandable...but what was your plan to fail to conquer again?" Chrysalis rolled her eyes again. "Celestia please. I blew you down with one shot. You know you can't take me." Chrysalis smirked, hoping to keep the flaming devil sealed for it scared even her plenty. Celestia on the other hoof was rather taken back by such a comment and found herself blushing from embarrassment. "But then you got defeated by two...not as highly powerful ponies." "Maybe so, but if they're the lower ones, how come you couldn't beat me? Maybe you're the lesser one, Celestia, dear." Chrysalis took a step forward. Celestia lifted a hoof slightly, opening her mouth as if she were going to say something, but stared away in defeat. "Just get on with your point already." she said annoyingly. Chrysalis smiled, returning to where she stood previously, her dignity had returned. "Well...my plan WAS to use the love Night Winger was being given from Shining and Cadence and power my army enough so you wouldn't be able to stop even my drones. They'd attack here, the Empire and the Canterlot castle...you'd be defenseless against us." Celestia chuckled. "You forgot about-" "Ah ah! You didn't allow me to finish!" Chrysalis winked. "The...sad part is...I'd counter the spell...a rather powerful spell I would have to use...probably exhausting me of ll my energy, rendering me unconscious...possibly fatal to use a spell to protect thousands of drones, but make it look like Night Winger performed it...and he'd get his respect..." Chrysalis lowered her head and sniffled once more. "I love him so much...I...I'd end my own life to preserve his..." Chrysalis tried, but failed this time against the tears and she soon became a bawling mess on the floor. ***** "WHAT DO WE WANT!?" shouted a tall, bulky changeling, nearing the height of Chrysalis. He held a spear high above his head, standing high above the others on Chrysalis' balcony where she'd give her speeches. His voice was deep and intimidating, menacing even. "FREEDOM!!" shouted came the reply of nearly the entire hive who all wore protective iron armor and spears of their own. "WHEN DO WE WANT IT!?" "NOOWWWW!!" "THEN FOLLOW ME, MY FRIENDS AND I SHALL LEAD US TO THE VICTORY WE RIGHTFULLY DESERVE!!" the bulky changeling turned and lit his horn, blowing a gaping hole in the ceiling above, the night sky showing bright under the moon. "FIRST WE TAKE OUT CHRYSALIS, THEN WE TAKE EQUESTRIA!!" In a loud and endless roar, they took flight and flew out into the dark night. Mending woundsAuthor's Note Hey, guys...sorry for the extremely long wait...I got really depressed for a while and continuing just didn't seem like an option. Continuing the story that is. I'm sorry for marking it as cancelled...it was the depression and everything. You can find details about it in my blog. Also I made an on purpose mistake at the ending...see if you can spot it :D Mending wounds Luna slowly stood from where she passed out on Celestia's bedroom floor, a heavy groan escaping her lips. Finding herself too weak to stand, she merely sat down, rubbing away the tired from her eyes. The light above was too bright for her, thus blinding her, forcing her to wince, a hoof over her forehead to block out the light. She yawned and took notice of the letter on the floor in front of her. It confused her. With a tilt of her head she sparked her magic, causing the parchment to float up to her baggy eyes. As best she could, she read. As she read, her brain finally kicked in with a sputter. She dropped the letter with a twitch of her eye. "Chrysalis did WHAT!?" Suddenly sparked awake, face turning red and steam escaping her ears and nostrils, Luna flared her wings and soared out of the broken window. Much like Celestia, she had no idea where she was going, so she decided to make for Twilight's. Outside Celestia's chamber door, the guard to the right of the door, took a glance at the guard on the other side. The guard noticed this and glanced back. "What?" the white stallion asked, his voice a little high pitched for a stallion of his size. He remained silent, curious as to what his response may be. "I think the royal princesses have gone crazy." The left guard cocked his head. "You're just figuring this out?" "Well, Celestia was one sweeet ball of fire!," said the right stallion with a small hop. "Would you quit breaking the fourth wall, already?" "Can I break the third, then?" With a sigh, the left guard executed the most intense face hoof known to Equestria. In other words, it was just a face hoof. ***** "NO!!" Night Winger pleaded, moving away from his father. "You lied to me! You said you loved me!" "But we do!" Cadence protested, slowly approaching the colt who huddled under the bed. "There's been a misunderstanding!" Night Winger glared. "How do you misunderstand leaving me out in the Everfree where I nearly was killed by Timberwolves!?" Shining groaned, leaning down to see his son, his blue eyes seemed to glow in the slightest. "Son, I love you very much. I'd never do such a thing to you. Within the near month I've known you, I've become too attached to you to even yell at you. I-I...I know things have been hard lately, but I've been doing my best to raise you, buddy. To be honest...I...I want to thank Chrysalis...you wouldn't be here if she hadn't of, ow!" "Speak your next words carefully." Cadance said sternly, drawing her hoof back from where she hit Shining on the shoulder. "It's okay, I know what she did." Night Winger looked down. A tear slips from his right eye. "I was just an accident..." The door suddenly opened and Flurry Heart entered, rubbing her eyes with her hooves. "Mommy, what's with all the yelling? I can't sleep..." she whined softly "Fl-Flurry?" Night Winger peeked around Shining to see his sister in the door way. "FLURRY!" Night Winger scrambled out from under the bed and tackled the filly, embracing her tightly. Flurry Heart could only gasp in surprise. "Wingie!" she cried, returning the embrace. "You were gone for so long! I missed you!" Shining took this moment to hold his son, wrapping them up in his blue magic and pulled them both close. Flurry couldn't hold back her tears as she cried and held on dearly to her brother. "I missed you so much! I...I thought you got h-hurt!" the filly weeped, wiping her eyes, planting a soft kiss on the changeling's cheek. "I love you, brother" Flurry nuzzled him. Night Winger sighed softly, a small smile appearing on his muzzle as he curled up into her, nuzzling her fur. "I love you too, Flurry..." "A-are you hungry, Night Winger?" Cadence asked, nuzzling the changeling softly on the cheek and earned a nod in response. Shining wiped his eyes and smiled softly as he floated the two foals over to the bed and covered them up. "Feed your brother," he said. "Your mother and I are going to check on the others." Flurry nodded and smiled more, holding Night Winger who laid his head on her chest. She kissed his head, telling him she loves him. She misses her brother. Instead of chasing each other around the castle, she was left alone to wander the corridors after school. She also missed Sunburst. These sudden changes left an ache in her heart. She watched as her Parents left the room, leaving the two of them alone. Flurry was at least happy to be with her beloved brother again. "Flurry?" Nightinger asked, gazing up at the pink filly. "Yes, brother?" Flurry responded with her twentieth kiss to Night winger's head. "You're the best," he nuzzled his sister's chest as a yawn escaped his lips. "You are too, little brother," she smiled, keeping him close, his purring putting her stress at ease as she held him tighter. "I love you so much." Night Winger let out a soft giggle. "It's not good to go to bed with a full belly as daddy says, Flurry," the changeling colt commented before he closed his eyes. ***** Chrysalis sat just outside of Twilight's throne room, bored as they were: "Deciding what to do with her." She held a scared-for-his-life guard in her forelegs, rubbing his mane with a hoof as he trembled. She rocked him side to side, using him to substitute for her son for the time being. She nuzzles him softly and kisses his head. She used her abilities to transform him into Night Winger, keeping him close. "P-please let me go..." he whimpered, looking to his fellow guard for help, but being on the other side of the hall to avoid Chrysalis wasn't helping. "Now why would I ever do that, sweetie?" she blows lightly into his tummy. "No!" the guard pleaded, fighting back his giggles, kicking his little hindlegs. "S-stop! I beg - agh! Ahh hahahaha!! Stop iiitt!" he wailed, a wide smile on his face as he was tickled beyond comparison, flailing his little hooves helplessly. The other guard watched from his post, a rosy blush upon his white cheeks. "D-do I get a turn?" he asked softly.
There are no words."Don't worry, I'll get that!" Said Princess Mi Amore Cadenza to her resting husband as she went to answer the knock on their chamber door.
So now what?"What are we gonna do, what are we gonna do, what are we gonna do?!" Asked Snining Armor, clearly panicking as he was quickly pacing the floor.
It just tells me you all enjoy the story being featured and that's all that matters to me :)
Daddy!!The three ponies and one changeling sat in silence for several minutes, eyes on the little contraption that would decide whether or not Night Winger is Shining Armor's son.
Celestia accepts Night WingerUpon hearing a plea for help from his only son, Shining turned tail in the opposite direction and boy he flew!
Author's Note Sorry this one took a while...I had a bit of writers block :(
Always Missing YouAnother week has slowly passed.
Jeez, I'm gonna kill you guys with this XD
The Search Goes OnAuthor's Note Yay, another chapter! "I love you too...very...very much..."
Chrysalis's EpiphanyChrysalis held her son for what seemed like an eternity.
"I'll talk." Princess Celestia nodded and with a spark of her horn, she whisked them away, back to Twilight's Castle
The Spark of RebellionAuthor's Note Credit goes to Valiant Charge who actually gave me a good chapter title :D The Spark of Rebellion Chrysalis stood, in the center of the room, ten not so happy faces staring at her.
