A Whole New World

I walked along the main street of Ponyville with Derpy by my side. I felt wrong somehow like I shouldn't be going to Princess Twilight with my problems...Yet, she was the only one that I could speak to. I stopped and looked up as the Princess Twilight's Castle rose up before me. I felt my heart quicken.

“Are you OK Michael?” Derpy asks me.

I turn my gaze to Derpy. “Yeah I'm OK. I can't help but think we should have made an appointment first.”

Derpy giggles. “What you want to do and the fact you choose to ask Twilight about it will make it too important for her to ignore. Trust me.”

I nod. “OK, I guess. You know her better than I do.”

“I just know she lives for this stuff and this will be very interesting to her.” Derpy replies.

I go to reply when the door to the castle opens and a light purple unicorn comes out with a cutie mark that looked like a bowl with two green wisps of smoke coming out the top. The unicorn stops and gives me a look. Her eyes widen but a smile grows on her muzzle as she makes her way over.

“Hello, I don't think we've met before. My names Starlight Glimmer.”

I give the pony a bow of my head. “Nice to meet you Starlight, my names Michael.”

“Nice to meet you Michael. I don't want to sound rude but I've never seen your species before.”

“I'm new around here. I've been living with Derpy.” I say gesturing to Derpy. “She helped me as I was seriously injured when I first arrived.”

“Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.”

I wave my hand. “I would suffer again if it knew I could wake up next to Derpy every morning.” I look to Derpy and see her blushing.

Starlight smiles. “I see....” Starlight looks up. “I'm sorry to rush but I must be going perhaps we can meet again Michael?”

I nod. “I look forward to it.” Starlight grins before quickly galloping off. I turn to Derpy. “She certainly is interesting?”

Derpy nods. “I haven't spoke to Starlight often but I have heard she tried to change history by trying to stop Twilights ascension to a princess. She's Twilights student now though, so if Princess Twilight says she's OK then who am I to judge?”

I look to Derpy in shock. “She really tried to change history?” Derpy nods. “She must be some powerful unicorn to try and do that.” I turn to the castle door and sigh. “How ever Starlight isn't the reason why we are here so let's go in and see if the Princess can help.”

Derpy nods and we both walk inside after I push open the door. I stop and look around at the castle interior giving a little whistle. “Wow, this place is something...”

“I was here when the castle first appeared, it certainly was a sight to see. Still is in my eyes.” Derpy says. “I guess now we just have to find Princess Twilight.”

I go to reply when a small purple creature came out of a door leading off to the side. I raise my hand and call out. “Um, Excuse me?”

The creature looks to me. “Uh, hello. My names Spike how can I help you...uh?”

“Nice to meet you Spike, My names Michael.” I reply. “I need to find Princess Twilight but I'm not sure where to start?”

Spike gives me a smile. “You're in luck. I'm Twilights number one assistant. I have to ask though what this is about?”

Derpy steps forward. “This is really important Spike and I think Princess Twilight might be really interested.”

“OK...I'll take you to her. She's in the library.” Spike replies gesturing as he walks further into the castle.

Derpy and I follow Spike through a large corridor though his side glances didn't go unnoticed.

“Something you want to ask?” I say to Spike.

“Sorry, I'm just a little curious about you. I've seen you out delivering parcels but I didn't want to disturb you.” Spike replies.

“That's OK Spike. I like meeting new people. I don't know much about where I came from but I'm a human and I love my mare. I have serious memory loss and it's the reason I've come to see the princess.”

“Memory loss?” Spike asks.

I nod. “I can only remember bits and pieces of where I came from. I was hoping Princess Twilight might now a spell to help me or if not remove the old memories completely.”

Spike stops and turns to me. “Remove the memories? Why would you want to do that?”

I sigh. “I have a feeling Spike that my old self isn't what I think it is. I don't want to put Derpy or her children at risk. I love them too much.”

Spike nods. “I can see why you would take the risk.” Spike turns and continues down the corridor. “I think Twilight is going to love you!”

I turn to Derpy and smile as Derpy rolls her eyes and chuckles. I watch as Spike goes to a door and pushes it open. I open my mouth in awe as I spot a tree hanging from the ceiling and a massive round table in the center surrounded by six chairs. In one chair I spot a purple mare with the same body type of the princesses.

“Princess Twilight?” I ask Derpy and she nods.

Spike walks up to the princess and gets her attention before whispering to her and pointing to me. I swallow hard when the princess looks to me and her ears perk up. I start to feel nervous when a large grin appears. I step back when in a flash the princess was nearly in my face, flying.

“You must be Michael!?” The princess says with barely contained glee. “I'm Twilight Sparkle nice to meet you finally!” The princess holds out her hoof and I hesitate. “Is something wrong?” I shake my head. Princess Twilight looks to her head and then her eyes go wide. “Oh it's because I'm wearing a my crown isn't it? I really should take this off when I'm not on royal business.” The princess takes off her crown and floats it over to the table. “OK lets try this again. Hi.”

I take a deep breath and shake the princess' hoof. “Nice to meet you princess.”

Princess Twilight laughs. “Please just call me Twilight.” Twilight turns to Derpy. “Derpy how are you?” Twilight says giving Derpy a hug.

“I'm fine Twilight, Still busy I see.” Derpy says gesturing to the table with a wing.

Twilight waves a hoof. “Just some last minute things. What can I do you for today.”

I step forward. “Actually Twilight I was hoping there was something you could do for me as you seem to be the go to mare for magic in town.”

Twilight squeals and a quill and parchment appear next to her. “I can help with anything you need. If it's magic related even better!”

I take a deep breath. “I need some help with my memories. I need to remember my past but I'm afraid I'm not going to like it.” I sigh before continuing. “Which is why I asked for your help as if my past puts Derpy or any pony at risk I want those memories to go but retain the one's I have of this world.”

Twilight sits down and taps her chin before looking back up to me. “You do know what this might mean Michael if the procedure goes wrong? You could lose ALL your memories. Are you sure you want to risk that?”

“If it means Derpy and her children will be safe, I will accept any risk.” I reply.

“I'm safe with you Michael.” Derpy says. “I said I'll be there for you but if it means I'll fully lose you...I'm scared.”

Twilight walks to a side door and gestures to it. “Derpy, Michael? Would you follow me please?”

“OK.” I say as Derpy and I follow Twilight.

Luna sat in her bedchambers reading several scrolls with old spells. Ever since her memory dive with Michael Luna has found her mind thinks of nothing else. Luna lifted up a scroll containing an old spell used for memory transfer and started to think if the spell could be modified to use with Michael's Physiology.

“Hmm maybe if I change this part to this?...no...no...Gah!” Luna throws her quill across the room. “I need a break.” Luna stands up and heads for her door just before a scroll appears above her bed. “Who could that be?” Luna picks up the scroll in her magic and opens it. Luna was confused when all it read was help in very large letters. Luna looked at the stamp on the scroll. “Twilight?”

Luna walked to her mirror and scryed Twilight. Lunas eyes go wide when she sees Twilight in full panic looking through books as Miss Hooves was trying to keep Michael still on the floor. Michael looked like he was in trouble as his body shook violently.

“What in Tartarous!” Luna charges her horn and teleports.

Luna appears outside Twilights castle and quickly runs inside to hear shouting and screaming. A few ponies had entered the castle along with Spike who tried to open a door but it was locked.

“Spike? What's going on?”

Spike looks to Luna in panic. “I don't know! Twilight tried a spell on Michael and something went wrong. Twilight locked the door and I can't get in!”

Luna places a hoof on Spikes shoulder. “Spike, please calm down. I know it's hard for you that you cannot help but panicking is not the answer.”

Spike lets go of the door and steps back even though Michaels screaming continued. “Can you open the door?”

Luna looks over the door. “Hmm, I cannot open the lock but I can teleport inside. You must stay out here Spike and make sure the castle is cleared. Can you do that?”

Spike nods. “Yes princess I can.” Spike turns and starts to usher the collected ponies out. Some refuse but a quick look from Luna changed their minds.

Luna watches Spike leave and turns back to the door. “Now to see what has happened.” Luna says as she charges her horn and vanishes.
