What would you do if you lived forever?  Who would you be? Would you be happy? Or would you lose all sense of day, week, month, year, or even time itself?  By birth my name is Minuette, but all my friends call me— or called me Colgate.  I may have gotten this off on the wrong note, but anyway, this is my story. The story of on old mare who is only 23 years old.

The year was 1013 by the Celestian calendar and I was 317 years old.  It was time to start Primo Nocte Solus, The First Night Alone.  I can only be around other ponies for about five or so years before they start to wonder why I haven’t changed at all.  So there I was, getting ready to live Manehatten, it was a shame too; I really enjoyed it there.  I don’t really know where I planned to go at that point, just that I would miss where I was leaving.

I had just gotten done telling Radiant Star that I was leaving; she didn’t know that I was… what I am.  So I set out on my 54th Primo Nocte Solus, unaware that this one would change my life forever, and I know exactly what forever feels like.  Just before I set out I turned around to see my friend Evergreen run up to me, panting.

“Colgate… I want you to… have… this” He panted, holding out a necklace that matched his Cutie Mark; a single pine tree.

“Oh Evergreen… you really didn’t have to!” I smiled.  I really don’t think that he realized just how much that meant to me, to actually have something to remember one of my friends by.

“Don’t be silly! I want you to be able to hang on to a part of me, even though we’ve only know each other for a few years, you’re my best friend!” He said with a fake cheer.

I felt a wrenching pain in my gut because, in reality, he was one of my favorite ponies I’ve met in 317 years and now… I’ll never see him again.  I’ll never talk to him again; I’ll never hear from him again, he’ll cease to exist to me.  But no… I’ll never forget him… I’ll cry about him every night for the rest of eternity.

My name is Colgate, for the past 23 years I’ve been a dentist in cities all around Equestria.  I am the only non-alicorn Immortales.  I live forever. I remember my friends, I remember those I love; I leave them too often.  I cry about them every night.  And why shouldn’t I? I never asked for this curse. It was because of all those years ago…

“Colgate! No!” Shouted my first and only true love, a love that I now despise.  The TARDIS had just malfunctioned… like usual.  But this time… this time it sent us into the Time Void.  I don’t know how… but it did, and I flew out of the door that had just opened. That was raw power… that was time itself.  I was exposed to so much of it… I don’t know how I got out, but I woke up and there I was. In Manehatten; 296 years ago.  Ever since then I haven’t aged a day.  My light blue coat hasn’t lost any shine, my dark blue eyes have just as much spirt… but my heart…? It breaks every single day.
