Twilight awakens from a slumber, and doesn't remember a thing of what happened before, what is happening, or even what her own name is. Called by her subject number, she assumes her name really is Twelve. Getting deeper into conversation with the robotic, AI's voice, she learns more of both her past, who she is now, and what is happening.
As one of nineteen, she goes out to find the other subjects, while surviving an infestation of mutants that are as deadly as much as they seem harmless.
Then comes another question she can't ansswer directly. Will she survive this new world? Will she even meet another "subject?"
