Midnight and Dawn Star, the fifteen year old twins of Shining Armor and Princess Cadance grow up to discover their destinies as the successors of the Equestrian thrones.

But it takes more from them than anyone had ever expected. When a sudden tragedy strikes the kingdom's nobility, leaving one missing and the other in shock and unfit to rule, the position of being the rulers of a politically unstable Equestria is forcefully thrust upon their hooves.
