The Looking Pool

*insert legend of the mirror pool here*

Something reaches into the water and pulls me out. My head breaches the surface of the water and with that, I am alive. My first breath is a gasp as I try to get air into my water filled lungs. Two helpful things pull me to the bank, to safety. The light sears itself into my new eyes, the sandy bank rubs my flesh raw, new odors assault my nose, the sound of my heart beating deafens my ears. My mind arrives at one conclusion: I don't like being alive. And then, something happens, something magnificent, something that makes the pain worth it. The painful grit of the bank is suddenly replaced with something warm and soft wrapping itself around me and squeezes me a little. Whatever it is smells pleasant, almost familiar. As the deafening sound of my own heartbeat fades into a quiet thump, I notice it being joined by a second. The world around me slowly darkens, the blurred shapes becoming crisp edges and shapes. My limp neck tries to turn itself to see what I am and what is holding me. It's alien, it is just odd, its. . .  Blue. . . I think. Or maybe green. Whatever it is looks like a. . . Thing, it has four things coming off of it, two of them are around me. Then it has something with pointy stuff on it and then another thing they flopped around on it's other side.
