To Love A Changeling

"RAINBOW DASH, GET YOUR RAINBOW MANED BUTT DOWN HERE!!!" The grouchy light purple alicorn screamed at the top of her lungs to get my attention.

"Nope!" I was staying in this cloud weather she liked it or not. I gasped as she lifted me off the cloud with her levitation spell, then sat me on the ground.

"Rainbow Dash, I know you're upset but-"

"But what?"

"But it is not your fault, you lost a bet with AppleJack, you shouldn't be ashamed."

"But you don't know half of it..."

"I should explain right? Ok, let's get this explanation over with."

It was a cold night, AppleJack and I had made a bet, if I could camp out in the everfree forest for a month, I would win and AJ would have to tell everypony  I was better then her at everything, but if she didn't eat apples until I got back, then she would win and I would do all her chores.

So there I was, in the forest with nothing but a blanket and a pointed stick. The stick was for if I ran into trouble. If I had used it in the first place, Twilight wouldn't be yelling her head off at me.

I was about to fall asleep, the blanket wrapped around me tightly. As I yawned, I heard something or somepony trotting through a bush, I reached for the stick. Then a black head popped out of a bush and he looked at the pointed stick, "I'm not going to hurt you." He smiled.

I could have reached a little farther and got the stick, but I didn't. I left it there and pulled the blanket off myself, when I stood up I should have jumped for the stick. It would have saved me so much trouble, but I didn't like being alone. Yes, I know that must sound weird coming from a pony like me, but it was dark, I was hungry, alone  and really wanted to go home, so I decided to befriend this pony, "M-my name is Rainbow Dash." I smiled.

"My name is Fly." That name, I had thought it was just a normal name. Then he stepped out from the bush and looked at me. I gasped, he wasn't a normal pony, he was a changeling!

He had a black coat, with holes going from his back to the tips of his feet, and his horn was bent. His eyes where lime green, like dragon eyes, or cat's eye marbles. His mane was short and lime-yellow. His wings where a strange turquoise color and were torn, full of holes.

"What's wrong?" He asked, tilting his head.

"N-n-nothing..."

"Is it because I'm a changeling?"

I was silent, then he spoke again, "I'm not like the others. They kicked me out because I didn't like the plans they had for you ponies." He looked behind himself, I guessed the changlling hive was beyond those bushes, "the queen wants to get back at the ponies for stopping her from marrying the captain of the royal guard. She's gonna try and kill Celestia." He looked back at me.

This time, I believed him, I knew the queen of the changelings was mad when Cadance and Shining Arrmor stopped her. Princess Celestia had made sure that everypony who wanted to talk with a princess or enter Equestria had to have an ID. She gave up on that when nothing happened for a while.

"You don't talk much do you?" He asked, grinning.

"Actually, I talk a lot, but not around ponies I am told to hate..."

"You can trust me, Chang- Er, pony honor."

I laughed at that, "I'll believe you if you show me to the changeling hive."

He nodded, then turned around, I hadn't expected him to take that seriously. We were soon surround by trees, I was starting to think the hive wasn't there, "I need to talk to the changeling guards before we enter, I might be banned, but I haven't came for my stuff yet." he trotted through the bushes.

Suddenly, I heard something race through the trees, I guessed it was a squirrel or something. If there weren't monsters here, this place would be a very nice forest. Suddenly two changeling guards threw some black sticky thing on me. I looked at it in confusion, as they flew out of the tree and glared at me.

"What are you doing here?" One of them asked.

"Ohm, I was just walking around here and you threw this thing at me." I looked at the black gunk as I lied. Without saying a word they both walked away. I sat down and waited for Fly to return, the black stuff was all over my wings so I probably wasn't gonna get out of here by flying. Suddenly, Fly walked out of some bushes are flew towards me.

"Took you long enough!" I stood up.

"Yeah sorry, I saw the guards come and talk to you so I thought I'd wait a bit to see if they left or not." He replied sheepishly.

"Oh we-" I began to talk but he raised a hoof to silence me.

"They're still in the bushes over there." He said in a whisper as he tilted his head to the left.

"So that means everypony will know you're with me?" I asked.

He nodded.

This was just so strange. Changelings are so weird. He began to walk to the right and I followed quietly, "So, why aren't they arresting us?" I asked.

"They don't harm anypony unless they see you as a threat."

"Oh." I looked behind myself for a bit then back at him, "why don't they think we're a threat, they saw me and you in the same spot."

He nodded, "they're also the last friends I ever had in the hive, they wouldn't hurt me or anyone I'm around."

We stopped at a small lake. The water looked cold and big enough to swim in. Fly smiled at me then walked into the lake.

"You can clean your wings off here." He began to swim.

"Oh, ok." I walked into a shallow part and began rubbing water on the black goo stuff.

"Its really hard to take off by the way." He started to help.

The black stuff made my wings fill numb. But once it was ripped off a bit my wings felt like they were on fire! I tried not to make any sounds, but that's harder then it looks. Eventually it was all gone and I layed on my back in the water.

"Well, lets get going." Fly stood up and began walking down the path.

"Why?" I sat up and started splashing.

"The Everfree forest is dangerous, if you already don't know." He watched me.

I rolled my eyes and stood up, "fine." We continued our journey to Ponyville!

watching everypony from a cloud was always fun for me. It's a little hard when your using that cloud to sneak a changling into town. He was sitting inside the cloud and that made it REALLY uncomfortable.

"HEY DASHIE!" Pinkie Pie followed jumping up and down, "what us doing?"

"Using this cloud to go home."

"Can't ya just fly?"

"It's cooler this way...?" I smiled awkwardly.

"Okay." She hopped away after a small orange butterfly, her eyes studying the delicate creature intensively.

"She's weird." Fly said.

"Hey, if your going to hide out at my place you better be nice about my friends." I whispered into the cloud so I didn't look crazy.

Soon we arrived.

"Welcome to my house." I said kicking the cloud inside, it broke into small puffs. Causing the changling inside to fall to the cloud house floor.

"What ya think?" I flew in from the window and shut it.

"Its nice?" Fly looked around, his bug eyes studying everything.

Growing board of my new house guest, I began to close all the shutters. Then made my way into the kitchen and began preparing a sandwich. I opened everything in search of some bread and eventually gave up.

"I'm gonna have to get some bread at the store, can you not get caught for like 10 or 20 minutes?" I asked.

"Yeah sure." Fly sat down and looked at the ceiling, "how long is 20 minutes?" He looked back at me with confusion.

"They don't teach you changlings how to tell time?"

"Yes they do." He smiled, "we use where the sun and the moon are in the sky."

"That's not gonna do it, just wait here and don't get caught."

Soon I walked around the store, in search if some bread. They seemed to have EVERY type exept the one I wanted. Suddenly I saw Fluttershy and Thunderlane walking towards me.

"Hi Dashie." Fluttershy smiled at me.

"Hi Flutters." I continued my search and tried to ignore her. Not like I hated her right now, I just didn't want to talk with her cause she married my ex boyfriend.

"What ya looking for Dash?" Thunderlane asked.

I looked up at the name of the isle we were in, "bread." I replied without making eye contact.

"Well Pinkie Pie was going to invite you to the party but I-" Fluttershy began.

"What party?" I looked at her, confused.

"The baby shower." Fluttershy and Thunderlane smiled with joy.

"Your pregnant!?" I was shocked, she had the nerve to tell me that she and my ex would have a baby?

"Yes" the large pink group of hair she called bangs covered up half of her face.

I stared in shock. All I wanted was some bread, not this news. Not that it was bad news but, I'm not sure, "Ok then." I began searching for my bread.

It seemed I'd bored them with my bread hunt but that's not a problem. The only problem I can think of right now is the fact that Fly was resting on my couch watching TV. He could have been noticed if anypony heard the TV sounds. This didn't bother him,  he didn't even notice me walk in.

"Dude." I said stiffly, I sat the bread on the counter.

"What?" He asked, then turned back to the TV, "where did you get this image box thing?"

"Its called a TV, there are shows on it and you watch them."

"Oh, well you have some weird 'shows' on this thing." He looked back at me.

"Yeah I know, some of the stuff on there is real junk." I prepared a sandwich.

"What's that?" He asked as he jumped up and ran to me.

"This?" I asked as I poked the PB&J. "This is a sandwich."

"I've never seen one before." He pressed his nose to it and I was no longer hungry, "Do they test good?" He looked up at me with large round eyes.

"Ohm...Yeah."

"Can I have a bite?"

"Sure..." I wasn't sure if changelings could digest soulids or not, but I was interested to find out.

Fly took a small bit, and chewed. He then spit it out with disgust. "THAT WAS AWFUL!" He gasped.

"I didn't say I was a master chief did I?" I asked.

"You sure didn't." He groaned and ignored my question. He stepped into the hallway. "Any idea where I'm gonna sleep tonight?"

"I've got like three rooms I don't use. Take your pick." I replied. I didn't know it yet but this was a huge mistake.
