//-------------------------------------------------------// The Great, Forgettable Helper -by Y-T-Mellon- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: What am I, Cho- oh right //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: What am I, Cho- oh right Chopped Liver smiles as he walks out of his home in Manehatten, the city where most dreams come true or die in a horrible crashing plane! Especially that last bit. Chop breathes in the city air, it's horribly pollutantly exposure never fails to make Liver gag and cough. He struts down the sidewalk and greets everyone he passes. He arrives at his workplace, the restaruant that serves smiles! The Livin' Grass Life! He walks in and breathes in the grassy air, and cries. Not because of pure joy but because someone was cutting an onion beside him. The chef, De Cut, turned to see his former assistant crying and stops. "Chopped Liver! It is so nice to see you again yes? I have a surprise for you and your taste buds!" The French chef exclaimed. Chopped Liver nods as he wipes his tears. "Now, just give me a moment to prepare your surprise! Don't cry out of joy already, we shall cry in joy when we get our big pay check!" The chef continued on with excitement. "Wait, I'm getting my paycheck!? Yes!" He exclaims. De Cut nods. Chopped Liver gets on to work, maneuvering through the kitchen, putting in the spices to pastas and breads. He gets an order done and he serves it to his first customer: Carry Berry. "Hey Barry!" Chopped Liver said in a chipper attitude. Barry looks up and smiles nervously. "Oh, uh hey... You!" He says. Chopped Liver gives him the plate of pasta, which is naturally grown-by-unicorn brand noodles! Barry looks down in amazement. "How did you know my favorite food here?" He asks. Chopped Liver keeps his smile. "It's me! Chopped Liver? The pony who worked here for ten years?" He says. Barry shakes his head. "No, you must be a new pony, because I don't remember you from anywhere," he replies. Chopped Liver sighs, but smiles again and leaves. "I bet I can rob a bank and get away with it," he mutters. He's used to things like that. He does something good, and at least deserves a compliment, but almost no pony even know it's him. His two exceptions are De cut, and Dairy. Dairy is Chopped Liver's neighbour, and possibly the first mare to even remember him. He trots into the kitchen and keeps a at it with the orders. He served many stallions and mares, all having their usual. Some ponies want pasta and some wanted the cheap stuff, namely grass. Chopped Liver never understood why they don't go and get their own grass, and don't have to pay. He thought maybe it was a law or something, but his boss didn't question it. In fact, he stated he loved it that these ponies were so 'persuadable', as he said. As Chopped Liver served a patch of grass to one stallion, a fire broke out behind him. He turns as soon as he heard screaming and ran to the kitchen. He got out the fire extinguisher with his hooves and ran out to see the monster of a fire. He bravely got up to a table and sprayed the fire, making it get smaller and smaller. Pretty soon, the fire was gone, and Chopped Liver stood victorious on the table. He threw the empty can away and got down. He gasped to see that no one was around to see it. De Cut comes out and gasped. "Chopped Liver! What did you do!?" He yells angrily. "I put out a fire!" He replies in a chipper attitude like before. "Where are the customers?" He asked. "They ran," Chopped Liver said. De Cut groans. "I know, but where?" He asks. Liver shrugs. De Cut sighs. "Oh well, now who put out the fire again?" He asks. Chopped Liver groans. "Not you too!" He screams. "I'm just kidding, let's go tell everyone else, it's amazing that the restaruant didn't burn down," he said. After De Cut told everyone what Chopped Liver did, the news came in. Chopped Liver had just turned on the news to hear about it. "We are reporting to you all live on the scene when there was a fire in this restaurant, Livin' Grass Life! The fire started from a flaming cockleaf that fell to the ground when someone knocked it over," the mare on screen said. "Oh great I'm on the news!" Chopped Liver exclaimed to himself as he sits down on the couch. "There were reports of a brave, and handsome stallion charging in, and extinguished the fire in minutes. The identity of this stallion is unknown, but it was told to the staff, who forgot who this stallion was," the mare continued. Chopped Liver just sat there, bewildered by this. In truth, he saw that one coming. He didn't know how it would play out, but he knew it was coming. He groans and plants his face onto a pillow on his couch. His eyes widened like a deer in headlights when he realized he never got his pay check. Again. He screams in the pillow in frustration, and sighs. "All for the greater good I suppose," he said to himself. This, is pretty much a normal day for him to do something amazing or cool, only for the rug to be pulled right under his hooves. He sighs and hears a knock on the door. He springs off his couch and trots over to the door. "Who is it?" He asks. "It's me, Dairy," Dairy said. Chopped Liver opens the door to let in a yellow coated and white maned mare. Her mane was all curly and soggy looking like usual. "I just saw the news, and I'm guessing you're that heroic stallion?" She asks, smirking. Chopped liver sighs. "Yep, I bet everypony loves me now." He says sarcastically. Dairy chuckles and gives him a carton of milk. "Don't worry secret hero, I'll notice!" She says. Chopped liver smiles and hugs her. "Thanks Dairy, it's good to at least have someone notice, did you like the present I got you?" He asks. "What present?" Dairy asks. Chopped Liver laughs. Dairy raises an eyebrow. "No, seriously what present?" She asked again. Chopped Liver stares at her. "You know, the um, golden pocket watch? The one with the tag saying I sent it to you?" He asks. "Well, I did get a pocket watch, but it was from a stallion who had an orange or yellow coat and had a blue mane. Oh, and I think his name was Flash or something," she said. Chopped Liver sighs. "I'm getting tired of it Dairy, me a lone unicorn doing almost everything cool, and yet no one sees it. I'm glad I'm helping, I really am, but I want to be recognized for it though," Chopped Liver said. Dairy shakes her head. "Don't worry, I'm sure someone will see it one day!" Dairy said. She yawns and waves bye as she leaves, leaving a tired Chopped Liver to go sleep. As Chopped Liver slept, little did he know a camera was watching this, letting one secret stallion smile somewhere, for that stallion now has the chance to set his plan in motion.
