Chapter 1: The day of the convention
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
The alarm blared in the bedroom, telling the sleeping person in bed to wake up. A man in his late twenties grunts in irritation as he slams his hand down on the alarm, ceasing the infernal machine. Peter opens his eyes and yawns and looks to his left, where a slightly old basset hound was snoring next to him.
"Rufus, time to get up buddy." Peter said, sitting up and stretching. Rufus opens his eyes slightly, before letting off a huff of air before rolling over and falling back asleep. Peter chuckles and rubs Rufus's head.
"Your such a lazy dog, you know that." He said. Rufus doesn't respond. Peter gets off the bed and cranes his neck, causing some cracks to be heard. He shakes his head and walks towards the bathroom. After doing his morning business, Peter comes out wearing a plain t-shirt and jeans. He sits on the bed and puts on a pair of tennis shoes.
"Come on Rufus, time for breakfast." He said. Rufus heard breakfast and gets up slowly. Peter walks out of his room and into the kitchen. He takes a box of toaster pastries and sets a couple of them in the toaster. He walks to the back door and opens it, letting Rufus out. He looks outside and sees his neighbor Bob sitting in a chair on the back porch.
"Morning Bob!" He said. Bob looks over at him and grunts in annoyance before looking away. Peter looks at him with a deadpan look before heading back in.
"Well a good morning to you." He mocked, as he closed the door behind Rufus. He heads back to the kitchen and grabs the toaster pastries. As he eats, he looks at the calendar and sees it June thirtieth. His eyes widen as he almost chokes on the pastry he was eating.
"Holy crap, I almost forgot!" He yells. "AnthroCon starts today in downtown, woo hoo!" He yells happily. As he continues to eat, while in a really good mood, he watches a random episode of My little pony, friendship is magic. As he ate, his favorite episode came on, a Canterlot wedding, causing him to smile. He finishes the last of his breakfast and stretches. He gets up, switches the channel to the news and takes the plate back to the kitchen, with Rufus following him. He looks at him.
"I'm sorry buddy, but there's nothing left." He said to Rufus. Rufus gives a deep woof. Peter shakes his head.
"No buddy." He said. This causes Rufus to whine. Peter sighs. "Alright, alright." He said. He reaches inside of a drawer and pulls out a dog treat. Rufus's tail wags as he barks again.
"You want it buddy, go get it!" Peter yells, tossing the treat into the living room. Rufus chases after it, causing Peter to laugh. He smiles as he walks back to his room, while Rufus makes a mess while eating his treat happily. As Peter is in his room, he gets ready for Anthrocon. He makes sure that he has enough money for the convention.
"Lets see now, three hundred dollars should be good for the convention." He mutters. Her gets up and walks to the closest. He opens it and rummages through a box of hats.
"Now, let's see, what should I wear? Hmmm." He said. He pulls out a rubber glove.
"What the hell is this doing here?" He asked, then remembers from last Halloween. "Oh, wait, that's right." He said, putting the glove back. As he continues to look through the box, the doorbell rings, causing him to jump and smack his head against the roof of the closest hard. Rufus started to bark like crazy.
"Ahh, fuck!!" He yells out in pain. He rubs his head and mumbles as he walks to the door. He opens the door and sees no one, but a box. It was just a everyday normal delivery box, with Peter's name and address, but it doesn't say who's it from. Peter picks up the box and looks at it.
"Who would send me a box?" He asked himself. He closes the door and sets the box on the table. He grabs a box cutter and cuts the tape on the box. He opens it and he sees a black fabric. Peter is confused at what it is. As he takes it out, it unfolds and his eyes widen. The black fabric was actually an anthro Queen Chrysalis costume. It was one of those skin tight costumes. Peter takes the box and runs into his room. He was ecstatic to try it on. He sets the box down and takes the costume to the bathroom. After putting it on and zipping up the zipper on the back with some trouble, he looks at himself in the mirror and smiles. It was a perfect fit.
"Holy crap, this is awesome!" He yells. As he talked, the costumes mouth moved a little. He looks over himself. He can see that the green carapiece around the stomach area was a hard bendable plastic. And the fake hooves covering his feet.
"Thank you whoever sent me this costume!" He said. He walks back to the box and sees green tattered clothing. Peter takes the clothing and puts it on. He looked at himself in the mirror. The clothing reminded him of something which you would see in a desert. It matched the costume perfectly. Peering back at the box, he noticed a note. It was a simple sticky note on the bottom of the box.
"Enjoy the costume?" He repeated the words on the note. "Thanks, whoever you are." He mutters. He turns towards the desk next to his bed and grabs his keys and wallet. He places them in a pocket of the dress. He goes around the house, closing doors and putting things away to make sure that Rufus doesn't get them. He does a last minute check to make sure he dog proofed the house. As he was about to leave his house, he looks at Rufus.
"Rufus, you behave now and don't go and get into trouble, okay?" He asked. Rufus gives a loud bark. Peter nods and closed the door, locking it behind him with the keys. He walks to his car, which was a 2007 Nissan Sentra, and gets in carefully, because of the costumes horn. He pulls out of the driveway and heads drives towards downtown. As he came to a stop sign, he turns on the radio and one of his favorite songs began to play. Peter sang with the song as it played. If he was paying any attention, he would have noticed that the costumes zipper on his back disappeared. He tapped his fingers to the beat as he drove onto the highway. Traffic began to slow down to a crawl as Peter could see a car accident not too far from where he is.
"Come on!" He yells as he honks the cars horn. He sees a police officer directing the traffic. He looks at the crash and winces. It was a nasty crash between a Ford F-150 and a Nissan 350 Z. The Nissan was totaled, while the Ford has a nasty dent in the front.
"Stupid teens and their races." He mutters as he drives by it. As he neared downtown Pittsburgh, his legs started to feel slightly funny, but he dismissed it as he drove off an off ramp. He started to feel extremely giddy as he neared the convention center. As he pulls into the parking lot, he notices thousands and thousands of people at the convention. There were people wearing full body fur suits, some with just the paws or ears, and some with none what so ever. He could even see some my little pony fur suiters as well. Heck, he could have sworn he saw a Nightmare moon and a young Luna together. He pulls the car into an empty spot and turns it off. As he stepped out, he felt slightly nauseous. He places a hand on the car and shakes his head.
"Woo, got up to fast." He said. The feeling passed with few seconds later, only for him to feel pins and needles in his legs. He shakes his legs and tries not to wings at the pain. The feeling disappears too.
"Gaah, I hate pins and needles in my legs." He mutters in irritation. He locks the car and heads to the center. He waves at people and people wave back.
"Hey!" A voice yells. "Nice Queen Chrysalis costume!" The voice yelled. Peter looks and sees a man in his thirties wearing a Rainbow dash t-shirt.
"Thanks!" He yells back, giving a thumbs up. As he neared the entrance, he could see a long line.
"Aww, crap." He said. He stood in line and was surprised when it was going by fast. Soon, it was his turn to go in. He sees a lady wearing a Anthro-con t-shirt sitting behind the ticket booth.
"Hello!" She said in a happy voice and with a smile. "Welcome to Anthro-con, how may I help you?" She asked.
"Ah, yes, I would like a day pass please." Peter said. The girl nods.
"That'll be thirty dollars please." She said. Peter nods and takes out his wallet, and gives the lady thirty dollars.
"Here you go." He said. The lady takes the money and hands him a pass.
"Thank you, enjoy your time at Anthro-con, and I must say, that's a wonderful costume of Queen Chrysalis from my little pony, friendship is magic." She said, winking. Peter smiles at the compliment.
"Thank you." He said happily, then walks in. As he walked in, he looks around in amazement. There were stalls everywhere selling things from tails to drawings.
"Wooow." He whispers. As he walks around, he admires the effort that everyone has put into. He also some people, who are probably bronies take a picture of him.
"Holy crap man, awesome Chrysalis costume!" Someone yelled. Peter looks over and sees someone dressed as Twilight.
"Hey, thanks man!" He said happily. peter smiles as the guy who dressed up as twilight walks closer to him.
"I have to say, that's a pretty close costume of twilight." He said to the guy.
"Thanks!" the guy replied with a smile as he flipped up the hood, which was the head for the costume. "How do I look in it?" he asks, trying to sound like Twilight. Peter gives the guy a not bad face.
"Pretty good." he said.
"So...what's your business here, Chrysalis?" The guy asked as if he were real life roleplaying. Peter smirks.
"What? Can a changeling queen take a day off from trying to take over Equestria?" He said in a perfect Queen Chrysalis voice. The man rolls his eyes.
"You're obviously here for a reason, Chrysalis!" She stated. Somebody in an Applejack costume notices and walks up.
"Yeah! What're y'all tryin ta pull?!" she accused, pointing a finger at him. Peter blinks his eyes in surprise as he spoke in a perfect Chrysalis voice, but dismisses it quickly, crossing his arms and looking away with a huff.
"Can't villains take a break sometimes without you heroes coming in and meddling with them." He said.
"Try any funny business, we'll have to..." Applejack began.
"Try and find Somebody as Cadence and Shining Armor to send her away?" 'Twilight' asked. Applejack sighed.
"Just don't try nuthin!" She warned. Peter his eyes.
"I know, I know, or you'll blast me with that love shield again." He said.
"A love shield we don't have..." 'Applejack' muttered. "Anypony getting hot in their suits?" She asked. 'Twilight' shrugged.
"Mine didn't come with fur like yours, if that's what causing it." She said. Peter chuckles.
"I feel fine. Oh, I'm Peter by the way, it's short for Peterson." He said, reaching a hand out. 'Twilight' shook it.
"James." He said.
"I'm Lucille!" 'Applejack' said. "I can do a pretty good impression of AJ!" She said.
"The funny part is, is when I spoke perfectly with Chrysalis's voice, it surprised me, because I suck at doing voices. It, just came to me. It felt, normal." Peter said. Lucille shrugs.
"Oh well." She said.
"So...why not give you some love!" James chuckles, pulling Peter around the shoulders. Lucille joins in.
"Good reformed, Chrysalis!" She said happily. Peter joins in, and laughs with them. Suddenly, he felt light headed.
"Oof." He grunts.
"What's wrong, partner?" Asked Lucille is Applejack's voice again. Peter shakes his head.
"Just feeling a bit light headed, that's all." He said in Chrysalis's voice, even though he spoke normally.
"You do that voice so perfectly! Heh, if they continue past the sixth season and the actor for Chrysalis quits, you can fill er place and nopony will know a thing!" Lucille said happily. James chuckles again.
"Well, let's not stand at the entrance the whole time!" He said. Peter doesn't exactly feel so good as they walked. Lucille looks at Peter with some worry.
"You doing okay? Y'all don't look too good." She asked. Peter shakes his head.
"Would you excuse me for a bit, I need to use the bathroom." He said. Both ponies nod. Peter gives a quick smile and walks off to the nearest bathroom, stumbling very slightly. Lucille rubs a hand along her arm.
"So where did you get you're costume, James?" She asked.
"I actually just bought it!" He said, smiling, although Lucille couldn't tell through the mask. Peter enters the bathroom and stares down at the sink, breathing heavily as everything spins slightly. The two from before as Luna and Nightmare Moon walk into the bathroom to lean against the walls.
"I can't do this...my head hurts too much..." said the one in the Nightmare Moon costume. The one in the Luna costume merely nodded. Her tail twitched. Peter ears flick slightly as he splashes some water on his face, as he looks up at the mirror, his eyes widen as he sees that the costumes eyes moved with him. He quickly stepped back, only to slip on the floor and slam his head on the back of the bathroom door. He clutches his head and rolls around as pain flares through his head as be let's loose some choice words. The two, now sisters, gaze down at Peter, wishing to help, but soon collapse to the floor.
Peter hears two thumps on the ground next to him and he looks. His, or now, her eyes widen as she sees a Nightmare moon and a Luna unconscious on the floor next to them. She notices the moving hair on nightmare moon and sees the Luna is the young Luna from season one. She quickly backs away from them, slightly scared. But becomes worried when she notices that they were unconscious. She quickly goes to them, ignoring the throbbing pain in her head and stands up next to them. She reaches down and lifts nightmare moon off the ground, with some difficulty and places her arm around her. She then lifts young Luna and holds her as she slowly walks out of the bathroom. She slowly makes her way towards the exit.
Both James and Lucille notice this and were quick to help. As soon as they helped, she slumped over slightly, breathing slightly heavily.
"Thanks, these two came in after me and fell unconscious. I didn't know why, but I just couldn't leave them back there." She said. Lucille stopped.
"Okay, that's freaky...your tail is moving, your ear just twitched and your mask's lips moved with you." she said, surprised. Peter sits down and stares upwards at the ceiling, furrowing her eyebrows.
"That can't be right." she said. Lucille giggles.
"You aren't the only one." She smiles and swishes her tail. "Guess it's not just me..." She said. Peter stares at Lucille in shock.
"What. The. Hell." She said. Lucille giggles.
"No, but I wish...I was just swaying my hips to make it move..." she said. Peter sighs.
"I just want to go home." she said.
"Then go." Lucille smiles, which can be seen, since her costume has a mouth piece to move with her mouth. Peter looks over at the other two.
"But I should help these two at least." She said.
"There's nothing you can do, really..." James said. The two mares remained asleep. Peter shakes her head.
"I just can't, their in the same boat as me. I just cant leave them here. Who knows what would happen." She said.
"Where's your car! We'll help you." James offered. Peter shakes her head.
"No, I don't want to drag you along." she said.
"You're weak, Peter. We can just help you get them to the car." Lucille said, crossing her arms. Peter looks at Lucille and James and saw that they won't take no for an answer. She sighs.
"Alright, you can help me take them to my car." She said. Lucille Helped pick up Nightmare Moon and James helps Peter with Luna. Peter slumps slightly against James as a buzzing noise starts to sound in her ears.
"Hehe...your wings are buzzing..." James chuckles nervously. Peter eyes widen and the buzzing stopped.
"You're turning into Chrysalis..." Lucille mutters. Peter smiles slightly as they enter the parking lot.
"You're smiling...is that good?" James asked. Peter looks at him.
"I'm just almost to my car." she said.
"Oh, good!" Lucille said. Peter points out her car.
"It's right over there." She said.
"Oh!" James chuckles. "Tune that sucker out, and put a big spoiler on it!" He said. Peter deadpans at him.
"What...it's a tuner car, why not?" James asked, blushing a little bit.
"I'm not one of those types of guys." Peter said. James pulled open the rear, left side door and helped James get Nightmare Moon in. Lucille giggles.
"This was some con!" She smiles, putting Luna in the other side. Peter nods.
"Yea, I'm sorry I couldn't stay longer because of this. Thanks." She said.
"Maybe...I should stick around to make sure they're okay..." Lucille said softly.
"Did you guys drive here or what?" Peter asked.
"I walked, actually. I literally live down the street!" Lucille chirped.
"Well, lucky you. I had to pray my Ford would even make it...the shocks and struts are bad, making for a rather bumpy, soon to fall to pieces, piece of crap of a car." James deadpanned. Peter laughs slightly.
"I know how that feels. Well, do you guys want to come swing by my house to help me make sure that these two are alright?" She asks.
"See ya." he said. James gets in his car, attempts to start it, but only results in a plume of black smoke to seep out from under the hood. Peter winces at that, causing her ears to flatten against her head. Blue smoke also escapes the tail pipe. James groans and slam his head against the steering wheel.
"Oh dear, that didn't look good." Peter said. James groans again.
"Screw it. I'll just leave it there." he said. He exits the car and gets in the back of James' car, gently moving Luna to the middle seat. Peter smiles sheepishly at Lucille.
"Um, after you." she said. Lucille giggles.
"How about you get in the drivers and I get in the passenger seat?" She said. Peter nods and gets in the drivers side of her car.
"Wanna feel my costume?" Lucille asks randomly, holding an arm out to James. Peter is surprised by that question. "Um, alright." she said. She touches Lucille's arm, feeling the course hair of the costume.
"My dad tried to joke and say it was real horse hair." Lucille giggles, putting on her seatbelt. Peter laughs a little and smiles. Lucille smiles.
"I love this costume a whole lot...like...I don't wanna take it off..." she said. Peter chuckles.
"It's like you want to be the character that you're dressed as." she said. Lucille sighs heavily.
"Why can't I turn into her like you are into Chrysalis? It's not fair..." she said. Peter looks at Lucille wanting to help, but knows that she can't. Lucille gazes down at her hands.
"Is it weird I feel...right...in this suit?" she asks. Peter shakes her head.
"I know that feeling." she sighed. Lucille smiles.
"Thanks. I don't think I wanna take it off." She said.
"Well, it's up to you if you want to keep it on or not." Peter said. Lucille shrugs.
"I won't if my dad doesn't mind. I mean, I'm not eighteen yet. But for now, it's staying on." She said. In the back, James was muttering obscenities to himself as he stared out the window. Peter's ears flick slightly as she barely hears James's swearing.
"Peter," Lucille asked. "How do you feel...turning into Chrysalis? How will your parents react?" She asked. Peter looks at her for a second and sighs.
"The truth is, I'm scared and panicking. My parents are living on their own, so I live alone." She said. "I just want to curl up into a ball and cry my eyes out." She sighs.
"I'd hug you, but you're driving..." Lucille said. Peter gives Lucille a slight smile.
"Should I still call you Peter?" Lucille asked.
"It's up to you." Chrysalis said.
"Well...I don't think you enjoy your current situation, so I guess I should just call you Peter. Is your last name Pan?" Lucille smirked. Chrysalis slams her head on the steering wheel, causing the horn to blare.
"Looks like you and the car got something in common. A horn!" Lucille laughs. Chrysalis groans in irritation.
"Ya know...you'd make for a pretty good priest in your current form! I mean...you ARE holy!" She laughs again. She slides her fingers through one of the holes in Peter's right arm. Chrysalis felt a shiver run up her spine. Lucille giggles as she takes Peter's tail.
"Your situation would make for a great tale for the news!" She said, waving Peter/Chrysalis's tail. Chrysalis relaxes as Lucille has her tail and shakes her head.
"I don't want them to get involved." She said.
"Can I see you way it? If you can. I wanna see if this is legit!" Lucille said.
"To see what is legit?" Chrysalis asked.
"You turning into Chrysalis of course! Oh...I wish I could turn into Applejack...it sucks I can still feel the zipper." Lucille said, feeling her hands along her back. "I'd be happy if it were only skin and fur I'm feeling right now." She sighed with happiness. Chrysalis looks at her as he pulls into his homes driveway.
"Well, you can if you want." She said.
"I can what?" Lucille asked.
"You can see if this is fake." Chrysalis said.
"Wag your tail then." Lucille said. Chrysalis concentrates and her tail wags slightly in Lucille's grip. Lucille giggles and hugs the tail.
"You should be happy!" She said happily. Chrysalis sighs and has a sad look as she steps out of the car.
"Not really." She sighed. Lucille and James exit, helping the other two mares out of the car. Peter's phone began to ring. Chrysalis takes her phone out of his pocket and his eyes widen.
"Fuck! It's my parents!" She yelled.
"Let me talk to them." Lucille offered. She holds her hand out for the phone. Chrysalis shakes her head.
"No, no, I must do it, I have to tell them." She said.
"Think they'll believe you over the phone? No. I can say I'm a friend of yours, you need help, and they'll come! Then we can explain it. Okay?" Lucille said. Chrysalis looks at her.
"I... I want to try something." She said.
"Okay." Lucille said. Chrysalis puts her phone up to her ear and clears her throat.
"Hello?" She asked. As soon as she spoke, her voice sounded exactly like her male voice from before.
"Hi sweetie!" Came the voice of his cheery mother. "It's been a while since we spoke. You never call anymore. So, I thought I'd call you! It seems you must be busy with life! How are you doing?" She asked.
"Oh, hey mom! I'm doing great, I'm making some new friends. I'm doing well at my job, even though I work at home." Chrysalis laughs. "Either then that, I'm doing well. How about you two?" She asked.
"Oh! We're on our way for a visit! We're about ten minutes away. So, be ready!" Chrysalis's mom said happily. Chrysalis's eyes open wide extremely.
"Okay mom, can't wait." She said.
"Bye bye, sweetie." Chrysalis's mom said.
"Bye mom!" Chrysalis said before stopping the call. She looks at Lucille with fright. "My parents are coming." She said.
"Shit..." Lucille said. Chrysalis looks into the sky.
"FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU..."
