Dead World

Prolouge: Sunrise, Sunset

I just don't know what went wrong!

Cold

The first thing I felt was bitter cold. I slowly opened my eyes and looked up to see a mare smiling down at me, The bright light in the room making her look like a goddess, "Good morning Sunset." She said, watching my movements closely.

I looked at her cautiously, "Who?" I asked,  my voice dry and hoarse.

She looked down at me still smiling and said, "You, dear. Your name is Sunset Horizon." She stepped away To a computer monitor and began pressing buttons.I looked around the room, there asn't much except the desk with the computer, and my bed. I opened my mouth to ask more questions like 'Why can't I remember anything' or 'Where am I?' But the doctor told me to ask them later. Now I could make out her features, She was a unicorn with a golden mane, a beautiful violet coat, sparkling blue eyes, and a name tag that said Dr. Midnight PHD.

I looked at her, "Dr.Midnight?" I asked curiously.

"That's my name!" she said happily. She placed a strange device beside me, I stared at it with awe. She lifted it up in front of me so I could see it clearly. She cleared her throat, "This, my dear, is a Pipbuck 4000, my design, I made them for very special ponies like you." She winked at me and continued, "Please lift your right foreleg." I did as instructed and lifted my foreleg, she locked the device on and pressed something on it to turn it on. the device glowed a bright pink color. She began explaining all the functions and controls to me. After several minutes I knew all of the basic controls of the Pipbuck Midnight had shown me. She held out a hoof and said, " Come with me and I'll show you around." I extended my left foreleg and she helped me up and off of my bed, which I now saw was made of metal and looked more like a pod.

That was a surprise, " How long was I asleep?" I asked, rubbing my head.

Midnight looked at me, " A while dear." She said before leading me out of the room. She  lead me through a long corridor to a large room, She said it would be my bedroom and asked me to sit down while she left to get something.I looked around the room it was pretty blank it had a bed, a table and a chair. The walls were grey and depressing and the tile floor was old and chipped.

I sat there for several minutes before hearing a loud scream followed by a gunshot. I became instantly scared and scrambled under the bed. I heard hoofsteps grow closer and watched the door, I saw a olive green pony step in,  he was wearing a large coat and holding out a small device, he waved it around. I heard a quiet "Beep" before the pony spoke, "I've found a live one, in here!" He yelled out the door. I heard quick hoofsteps as several other ponies joined the one in the doorway, these ones had metal helmets and long leather coats on as well.

One looked at the olive pony, " Where is it Professor Skies?"

The olive pony pointed at me, "There." He said, the other ponies in armor lifted the bed sheet and grabbed me.

I thrashed and screamed, "Don't kill me, I didn't do anything wrong!" Tears streaming down my face.

The olive pony looked at me sincerely and quietly said, "It's okay, we're the good guys, we're here to rescue you."

I was confused, "What?" I asked.

The olive pony said, "Not now, we need to move, come on!" I quickly got behind the olive pony and the armored ponies surrounded us as we ran through the corridors.They seemed familiar for some reason... I stopped at a door, I don't know what, but something about this door was familiar, damn I wish I could remember something.The olive pony grabbed me and pulled me along.

We rounded a corner into a large room with some strange gear-shaped mechanism almsot as tall as the room itself. We ran past the gear-thing and into a large cave with a simple wooden door on the opposite side, the olive pony began to slow down as we approached the door. He slowly opened it and I was greeted with a large exspanse of... well... nothing. The olive pony turned towards me, "Welcome to the Wasteland." he said with a simple grin.

I gave him a confused look and he came and sat beside me, i sat as well. He looked at me,"Allow me to explain, My name is Clear Skies, I am the commanding officer of the New Equestrian Rangers or N.E.R. You, my dear are a pony who was born long ago before the great war. That place we just left was a Stable and you have been in there in stasis for somewhere around 150 years." What!?.I panicked. I've been alive for over 150 years!? How is that even possible? He grabbed me and slapped me across the face,"Calm Down! I undersantd this is hard but e need to be quick here!" I slowly began to calm don and he countinued,"Now the world out here is know as the Eastern Wasteland or 'The Divide' as we call it because of the giant canyon that runs through the whole place." He looked at me with an expression that said Did you get that? I nodded. He looked up to the sky, "We need to go."  We all got up and followed him.

I looked around and saw mostly nothing, wait...,"Hey what's that?" I asked as i pointed at a little floating... thing in the distance.

One of the Armored ponies, Rangers I think, said,"It's one of those fucking Spritebots.They were made by the Ministry of Morale to spy on ponies.But the ones around here are different the radiation has made them all dangerous  weapons." He seemed annoyed so I shut up seeing he had a somewhat large shotgun on his battlesaddle. We countinued for awhile until we came up to a somewhat, well... shitty looking military base, my Pip-Buck labeled it as 'N.E.R. Station 7, as to how it knew the place I don't know. But regardless Professer Skies told me I could have a look around at the wares and he gave me some... bottlecaps? What an... interesting choice of item to use for currency, and a pair of saddlebags. I split off from the group for now and headed towards a old building with a picture of a pistol on it, I decided it wold be smart to buy a weapon to protect myself. I walked in and walked to the counter.

The Vendor looked at me,"What'cha lookin' for little lady?"

I smiled at him,"Just a small gun, something cheap maybe? Oh and some ammo!"

He reached under the desk and pulled out a small revolver and two ammo boxes and said,"400."cI gave him the caps and placed the gun and ammo in one of my of my saddlebags. My Pip-Buck labeled it as 'The Red Revolver'. I walked over to a bench and laid down before realizing how tired I was I drifted into a deep sleep.

Where am I? I was in a hall much like the one in the Stable, Only it was full of ponies running around, one grabbed me and yelled,"Hurry we need to move!" he pulled me into the same room I had woken up in. He yelled at me to get into the metal bed-thing, I got in and it closed.

"Wake up! Come on e need to get to work!" I opened my eyes and saw how dark it was. Professer Skies was standing beside me and had been trying to wake me up. I was still on the bench, I sat up beside him and he looked at me,"Okay, I need to ask you some questions, if you don,t mind." I nodded. He smiled,"Great so first, What's your name?"

"Sunset Horizon."

"Okay, do you remember anything before you woke up in the pod?"

I did now that I had that dream," Yes I remeber being put in the pod, but nothing else."

"Okay then, Um... do you know how to feed yourself?" He asked with a small giggle.

I punched him in the side,"Yes I just don't know how I got in that place!"

"Right, sorry I tend to joke around sometimes." He cleared his throught,"Okay well would you like me to introduce you to the town?" I yawned, I was still tierd!?

I nodded,"But can we wait till tomorrow?" He nodded and I asked,"Can I have a place to sleep?" He nodded and pointed to a building that said 'Inn' on it. I walked over to it and walked in to see it was simply a room with several beds in it, some empty, some had ponies in them. I laid on one of the empty beds and drifted off to sleep.
