"SKY!" yelled my roommate Bella, "You have got to see this!"
"Is it another MLP related thing?" I asked in an annoyed tone.
"Um, no? Come on! You'll think it's cool!"
"I'm busy studying."
"Fine... You're no fun..."
I'm a college student at the University of Shadango, yeah, stupid name. My name is Sky and my roommate's name is Bella, who's a brony. I don't have anything against the show, I just don't care for it. Bella, on the other hand, is a huge fan. She watches every episode of the show three times, watches tons of episode reviews, and writes fanfiction. I just don't get why she loves the show so much, it doesn't seem like anything special to me.
Last week, we bet on who would get a higher test score. If I got a higher test score, Bella would have to not do anything MLP related for an entire week. If she got a higher test score, I would have to go with her to a brony convention or something like that. Unfortunately for me, she beat me by one point, and I now had to go to a brony convention. One brony was tough enough to deal with, but at least 500? That was gonna be difficult.
"What are you even studying for?" called Bella.
"History! It's my worst subject."
"I could help you, if you agreed to dress for BronyCon!" she said in a singsong voice.
"NO! I am not going to dress up for a convention to get studying help!"
"Aw, come on Sky! I'm wearing a costume!"
"And I won't be wearing one!" I sighed, "Didn't you have to do something? Like buy a card for your mom or something?"
"Oh! I do need to! What time is it?"
I checked my watch before responding, "A bit before 10:00ish."
"Dang it! I have to get to the store before they close! I'll be back in fifteen!"
I heard the door open and close, and then the start of a car. Bella usually left things off until last minute, and this was no exception. I relaxed, now that Bella was there to nag me, and got back to studying.
"You shouldn't!" hissed a voice.
I looked up in alarm. Was someone there?
"It's just an experiment!" whispered a different voice.
"An experiment?" said the first voice, growing louder, "It could change a life!"
"It's only going to be temporary!" whispered the second voice, which sounded nearer.
Nervously, I got up from my desk and hid behind the side of my dresser. What were voices planning on doing?
"Wh-who's there?" I barely managed to whisper.
Suddenly, the windows and curtains flew shut, and the door was closed and locked. Petrified, I curled up into a ball and tried to be a quiet as possible.
"Hey you!" said the second voice, "Hiding in the corner! Come out!"
"This is a bad idea... This is a bad idea..." repeated the first voice.
I stayed in the corner, refusing to move. I was terrified, and didn't want anything to happen.
"It's okay." said the second voice, "You can stay in the corner. It might make it a bit more difficult, but it works just as well. Just stay still while I cast the spell so I can start conducting the experiment."
At this, I tried to stand up and just jump out the window, but a strong force help me in place. I felt pain searing through my body abruptly, and I also heard a glowing-noise. I fell on to my hands in pain when my hands started to feel tingly. Then, so did my legs, my body, and my head. I gritted my teeth as I felt blood rush to my ears and my sides. I closed my eyes as they started to feel tingly and painful as well. I started to cry out in pain as I felt needles on my scalp and my behind, and cried out more as I went numb in pain.
"Tw...t!" said the first voice, "St... 't.... hurting th...?!?"
I felt the pain slowly lift, as well as the force placed on me that kept me from fleeing. I was sprawled out on the ground, with my arms and legs sticking out. I didn't open my eyes, as they felt as if they had been bloated. But the worst feeling was in my sides. It felt as if there were huge bruises on my sides that were pointed straight upward.
"It worked!" said the first voice happily.
The second voice remained silent.
"Alright, I'm gonna need you to listen up." said the first voice with clear happiness, "One you open your eyes, you'll see that my spell has worked and I can start my experiment. For now, just do what you normally would, but if you see a violet envelope floating in front of you: do what it says inside, okay? I'll come by later to check on you. I still can't believe it worked!"
Though my eyes were closed, I could still tell that there was a bright flash of light. I was still lying on the ground, and I was aching all over.
"Ouch..." I mumbled to myself, "What happened?"
"I'm back!" came Bella's voice from the door, "Made it just before they closed!"
"Bella..." I mumbled, "Someone broke in or something..."
"Did you say something, Sky? I can barely hear you."
I heard Bella's footsteps come closer, and the door open.
"Sky? You okay- wait, what?!?"
I heard Bella run over to me and shake me vigorously.
"Bella..." I mumbled, "Someone broke in or something... And then I was in pain..."
"S-Sky?" she asked nervously, "Is th-that you?"
I finally opened my eyes, though they felt huge. I saw Bella kneeling beside me with a look of complete shock on her face.
"Yeah..." I said with more volume, "Why? What's wrong with me?"
"Um, stay here! I'll be right back!"
Bella ran quickly to the other side of the room. I was still lying on my side, so I couldn't really see what she was doing. I heard the sound of something being pushed over, and realized that I was the large, full length mirror that I had been given.
"Can you stand up?" asked Bella meekly.
"No. It aches too much."
Bella came back over to me and rolled me on to my stomach. I glanced up into the mirror, but saw a sight that was impossible to believe. Instead on seeing me on the ground next to my friend, I saw Bella with a concerned face, kneeling next to Rainbow Dash.
"Is that me?" I asked in disbelief.
Bella could only nod.
"No! Th-that can't be me! I'm not a pony! I'm a human! This isn't real! This isn't happening!!!"
"Sky!" said Bella urgently, "You need to calm down! I've read about this kind of stuff in fanfiction! We can fix it!"
"No, no, no!" I yelled, "THIS IS NOT HAPPENING!"
I began to hyperventilate when more pain seared into my body.
"Not more! No more!" I cried as I became numb again.
"Sky! What's happening?" asked Bella, "What's wrong now?"
I cried out as the pin became harsher and harsher. It felt like I was on fire and burning. I heard Bella's footsteps as she ran into the kitchen and back to where I was.
"Sky, let me take your temperature, okay?" she said.
I opened my mouth and felt the thermometer pressed under my tongue. I held my mouth closed so the reading could accurate, but instead I heard a popping sound. I realized that the thermometer had exploded at the end that wasn't in my mouth, and the pieces had barely missed both me and Bella.
"Oh God!" cried Bella, "What do we do, what do we do?!?"
"Micah!" I cried, "Micah is studying to be a vet!" Micah was one of Bella's brony friends, "He can help! He can help!" I clamped my front hooves on my forehead from all of the heat.
"On it!" said Bella, "I'm getting you an ice pack, first!"
I felt an ice pack being placed on my burning forehead, so I held it in place with my hooves. I heard Bella talking frantically on her cell phone to Micah.
"Micah! I need you to come over! It's Bella! ... No, I need YOU to come over, it' an emergency! ... Please, just hurry and bring your vet stuff! ... NOW!" she hung up and started pacing.
"Water!" I cried, "Water, water, water!"
Bella grabbed a water bottle off of the dresser and held it up to my mouth. I released the ice pack and grabbed the water bottle with my hooves instead. I drained the whole thing in a single sip and went back to holding the ice pack. After what felt like forever, we heard a knock on the door.
"Micah!" cried Bella, "Is that you?"
"Yes." came the reply, "What did you need me for so badly?"
I heard Bella run to the door and drag Micah into the room I was in.
"It's Sky! She got turned into a pony, but now she has an insanely high fever and I don;t know what to do!"
"I'm going to ask about that first part later, but right now, I think her fever is the most important thing." Micah sounded serious now.
I felt another thermometer pushed into my mouth, and I held with my teeth tightly. I could have sworn that I was getting hotter.
"Oh my God, she's at 120 degrees (Fahrenheit) and still climbing!" he yelled.
"What?!?" yelled Bella.
"She should be dead by now!" said Micah in a pain, "But she's clearly not yet!"
I cried out again as a huge wave of heat hit me. I felt the thermometer fall out of my mouth as Bella and Micah's voice became fuzzy.
"150! She should have died at least 40 degrees ago!"
"She's still alive! It must be the Equestrian magic in her! Can't you do something?!?"
"I'll try! It's going to have to be a large dose, but it might help!"
"How can i help? I can''t just let my best friend die!"
"Bella, Micah, I heard yelling. What's going on- WHY THE HELL IS RAINBOW DASH HERE?!?"
"Kyle! Bad timing! That's Sky and she has a fever of 150 degrees! She's being kept alive by the Equestrian magic in her, so get out of the way while we give her some medication!"
I felt something small poke me and realized that I was getting an injection. This must have been the medication that Micah had gotten. I didn't feel anything, as I was completely numb with pain.
Don't let me die! I'll die from a fever caused by being turned into a pony, and then by body will be donated for research!
I realized that the heat was flowing to my sides and into my wings. I held my body and forehead cool, but the heat in my wings was excruciating.
"Guys, move..." I mumbled at a barely audible tone.
"What did you say?"
"Move..." my wings burned hotter than my body had been.
"Sky, are you... still alive?"
My wings flared open and came down in a single flap.
"MOVE!" I yelled as I blasted through the ceiling and into the sky.
I heard Bella scream and Kyle and Micah yell loudly. I was flying straight up into the air with only one flap, and I had no control over what was happening. My wings were still burning hot, but I could barely feel it anymore. All I could feel was the air pushing down on me as gravity tried to pull me back towards Earth. I yelled and shouted in fear as my wings flapped faster and faster, sending me flying high and higher.
"Sky!" I barely heard from the ground.
I was going too fast. I realized that I had left the Earth's atmosphere and a went flying by planets and stars. I didn't have to close my eyes or breathe, but I couldn't stop. As I flew past what looked like Pluto, I began to yell out my fear
"Make it stop, make it stop! I am just an ordinary human, why is this happening to me?!? Please! I don't want to die! I don't want to leave my friends, make it all STOP!!!"
I opened my eyes as I crashed into Bella, Micah, and Kyle. I had gone so fast that I had teleported or something. I breathed ragged breaths as all of the heat left me. The others were completely fine, if now stunned. I cringed as I moved my front hooves, as they felt broken.
There was silence for several minutes.
"Am I dead?" I asked finally, "Or did I overheat and die?"
"You're not dead." said Bella before hugging me tightly.
"Ouch! Bella! Pain!"
Kyle and Micah even joined in, but I assumed that was because they were all bronies and I was Rainbow Dash.
"Now," said Kyle, "Can someone please explain what's going on? I just came in because I saw Micah's car and heard yelling."
