Prologue - Twilight's Spell
You see, our story begins in the grand land of Equestria. In Equestria, there is a humble little village called Ponyville, although it has gotten larger in the last because of the tourists that came to see Princess Twilight Sparkle. At the moment, said princess was pacing around the throne room in her Friendship Castle.
"Girls?" she asked timidly.
"Darling, whatever did you you call us for?" Rarity inquired, quite surely interrupting what Twilight was about to say.
"Well," the regal alicorn paused for a moment to clear her throat, "Have you girls ever considered what would happen when you," Twilight's voice shifted to barely a whisper, "...pass away?"
Pinkie's voice was the first to ring out, still cheerful despite the grim topic. "Well, duh, silly! But I like to live life at it's fullest, then I get to join the big party in the sky!"
Twilight smiled. She always enjoyed seeing her friend's antics, even if she works herself into a frenzy trying to figure some certain parts of it out. Then, she frowned, remembering the reason she brought them here. "For you, maybe."
"What do ya mean, sugarcube?" Applejack voice was as sturdy and firm as ever, despite having aged quite a bit.
"I'm an alicorn," Twilight replied.
"So? What does that have to do with anything?" Rainbow brashly cut in.
"Um, well, I think what Twilight's trying to tell us is-"
"Alicorn... like Princess Celestia." Rarity stroked her chin thoughtfully.
"Yes... and Princess Celestia is-" Fluttershy was cut off once again.
"Princess Celestia lived for more than a thousand years!" Pinkie exclaimed.
"So...doesn't that mean-"
"My stars. Twi, does that mean yer... immortal?"
"Precisely, Applejack! And that's why, through months of intensive research, I found a way to keep you all alive with me forever, and I won't descend into madness because of solitude!" Twilight's manic grin did nothing to reassure her friends. On the other hand (hoof? Because Twi always says hand), it put them all on guard, to various extents. Pinkie was still bouncing with a cheerful smile on her face, but was prepared to speed out. Fluttershy was cowering in the corner. Rarity, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash practically had wariness written all over them, ready to bolt.
The alicorn's horn began glowing with an intensity unrivaled by anything they'd ever seen. There were five magenta lights, even brighter than when Twilight turned into an alicorn. And Twilight's friends' horror, it was snaking out towards them. The tendrils started wrapping around everypony in the room. The pastel shade took a turn darker, now becoming a deep purple. As the tendrils encased everypony fully, there was a bright flash of light.
After the flash, where there stood six ponies, there only lay one. Where the previous ponies were full grown mares, this pony was an alicorn foal. Where the Elements of Harmony were a plethora of colors, the foal was white on white with golden eyes. There was no doubt about it. Twilight had fused everyone, while age regressing them for extra measure.
But what was even more frightening, was that the blinding light on the foal's horn never stopped. In fact, it seemed to get brighter.
In a blink of an eye, the fabled Elements of Harmony would have no more use until the fabled bearers returned. One could say that it looked like the mares split back into six as they faded away. Instead, the powerful teleport landed them on Earth, in the mind of a baby who was born at that very moment.
And that baby... was me.
Author's Note
Hi everypony!
This is my first story, and I am a bit on the young side (as stated in my bio), so constructive feedback would be appreciated. Please, no swearing! I had this idea several months ago, and finally I stopped being lazy and wrote this. I hope you all like it!
Sincerely,
Christening Friendship (I created the name on a whim and it stuck. Don't judge.)
P.S. At the end, I felt a sudden need to go 'dun dun duuun!'
Chapter One - My Discovery
All my life, I've been a normal kid. Sure I was bit... eccentric at times, but so were the group of people I called friends. I excelled in school, and became a pagasister over the course of the years. Boy, I never expected to ever watch My Little Pony. But, by Celestia, after a little boredom and chance, I did. So I thought I was talking to myself when something strange happened.
It was in my humanities class, the class that (and I quote from my teacher) "everyone put the vital information that wasn't in any of the other subjects". I was in sixth grade, bored out of my mind, when I heard the barest hints of a whisper.
So, um, when...do...her?
Naturally, I was confused, and even more so when I realized that the voice was familiar. I tuned in my mind so I could hear it better.
...what if she finds out?
Soon, I could hear everything they were saying.
She won't. She isn't supposed to. Right, Twi?
I don't think so! I can't test this! It hasn't happened before! None of my books can help me! Well, memories of books.
Am I talking to myself or what? Y'know what, I'm going to find out.
My teacher allowed us to just walk out of the classroom before to go to the restroom, so I did. I was grateful for that on more than one occasion. I plopped myself into a stall and worked up my thought voice.
Hello? Is anyone there? I asked. No voice answered, though, so I prepared to go back to the classroom. Stupid mind making up voices.
Phew. That was a close one.
Okay...What?! That accent was definitely Applejack. Am I going crazy? I could have sworn that I didn't think that.
No, you're not crazy! Mere minutes before you were born, Twilight sent out a beam that sent us into your mind! Simple as that!
Pinkie's exposition dump strikes again. Wait a minute...
I slammed the door back as I sat down on the toilet cover. I'm getting answers, and I'm getting them now. Give me those answers! I know you're out there!
I could hear a face-palm (face-hoof?) as I listened into the oblivion of my mind. I could also hear somepony being pushed forward, somehow.
Talk...tonight? Twilight squeaked.
Sure. No more stalling, though.
I heard Pinkie giggling as I spoke the latter sentence. Stalling! And we're in a bathroom stall! She chuckled a few more times before the laughter finally died out.
I began the ten-second walk back to the classroom. During that short time, the full realization of what I was going to do dawned on me. I get to talk to the very Mane Six themselves! Squee! Needless to say, the moment I stepped back into the classroom, I was grinning nearly ear to ear.
I bounced toward bed, the day being too long. I admit, I did get a few strange stares from my family, as usually I didn't usually want to go to bed early. As a teen, I never wanted to go to bed, weird as it may be.
I brushed my teeth for less than two minutes, my bed was crumpled from the glorious neatness that reigned supreme in my house. I laid down and closed my eyes. Then, I realized something. How was I supposed to 'summon' the Mane Six?
You don't, silly! We're always here! Pinkie answered.
Well, that resolves that, I... mind-muttered? Something like that. Well, then, my first question is HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU GET INTO MY HEAD?! Not that I mind, of course, I added hastily.
I might have a little...something to do with that. You see, I am, or I was rather, an alicorn. Twilight begins to explain.
Is this that 'alicorns live forever' junk? I ask.
Yeah, pretty much.
I was not expecting that. I just put in a random thought. But still, how are you in my head?
I may have overpowered the spell, Twilight admits.
...Okay, since this is pony, I'll accept that. Wow, I have to learn to be more restrained when making comments about the show now. So...am I able to see you?
Oh, we don't know, darling. We've never tried. We can see each other, though. Is that what you were about to say, Twilight, dear?
I squeeze my eyes shut harder than before. I imagine what a headquarters in my head might look like. I may or may not have gotten inspiration from "Inside Out." Don't look at me like that. You would have done it, too.
Anyways, I relaxed my mind and I found myself in a luxurious apartment with blue velvet carpeting and very light pink walls. In front of me, there are six fillies, unique in their own right. Yep, you guessed it. They were Twilight, Rainbow, Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie, and Applejack.
I advanced toward them, with only one thought in mind. So adorable! Hugs! And who could blame me? A cute, innocent little Twilight; a lanky Fluttershy; a freckled and pigtailed Applejack; a Rarity with a mini version of her classic coiffeur; Rainbow with her scruffy mane; especially Pinkie with her wide smile.
The Mane Six excluding Pinkie began to back away. Pinkie kind of just bounced and hopped right into my waiting arms. She rubbed her cheek affectionately against mine.
"Pinkie!" yelled Twilight.
Pinkie tilted her head. So cute! "What, Twilight?
"You know exactly what I mean, Pinkie!"
Rarity stepped in. "What Twilight's trying to say, darling, is that we don't want you to affect Christine for much longer." Affect me? "You already have by a great amount."
Pinkie took herself off of me. Immediately, I felt like I was calming down.
"Whoops, sorry," she said, looking sheepish.
"What do you mean, 'affecting me'?" I inquired.
"Well..." Twilight began.
Applejack cut in. "Don't even think about it," she commanded, a glare on her face.
Twilight waved her hooves in denial. "I wasn't going to!"
"Good." Applejack nodded, apparently satisfied.
Twilight continued. "Ahem. As I was saying," -she glanced over at Applejack- "we've kind of been affecting you your entire life, which can be seen by your mood. It happened most when you were a toddler, when your mind and personality was still a blank slate."
I was taken aback. "So you're saying that what I feel isn't what I feel; it's what you feel?"
"No," whispered Fluttershy. I was surprised because the entire time, she's been hiding behind her mane. "I wouldn't be able to do it if I knew I'd been hurting you."
"You ALL affected me?" I was shocked.
Twilight shook her head. "It's not what you think. We just compelled you to do certain things. It was your choice to do one or the other if two or more of us were affecting you. If it was one of us or we all agreed, then you would get an even stronger urge. It's barely noticeable, such as when Pinkie's innate happiness affected you into wanting to hug us, as you are meeting celebrities. I'm pretty sure the rest of the 'bronies' would do the same at the sight of us."
"Wow, Twilight, that's a mouthful, even when you put in in Equish - I mean English," Rainbow commented. "Also, can we expand? I need to stretch my wings!"
Twilight rolled her eyes. "Go ahead."
The cozy apartment space became a mansion. The Mane Six wandered off to do their thing while I was wide-eyed with how they could easily change it, just like that.
I walked down the hallway. Rainbow would definitely be in the huge backyard. How did I know, you ask? Well, it's my own mind, isn't it? It was also by my knowledge of how I think that let me find the garden-like backyard so quickly. Rainbow was soaring away, making a prismatic streak wherever she flew. Down, down, down, then a giant rainbow explosion! The sonic rainboom, I thought in awe.
A tingle went through my body. I looked down, only to find the ground much closer than before. I saw hooves - wait, hooves?! A closer inspection confirmed to me that, yes, I had become a pony in my own mind. A bright pink coat, a sky blue twin braided mane, with purple ribbons... A touch on my forehead told me that I was a unicorn. I scrunched my nose and blew, trying to make a single spark fly. I admit, I looked constipated in that one moment.
That failure didn't dampen my excitement, though. Not only had I met the Mane Six, I had the power to turn into a pony as well... at least in my mind. Nonetheless, it had been a very interesting night.
Author's Note
See? Progress! Granted, the chapter's still short, but it's a lot longer than last time!
Now, excuse me as I write for a couple more months.
Also, I will probably make an interlude with info explaining every lovely feature that comes with having the Mane Six in your mind, if people want me to explain that kind of thing. So, do you want it?
Interlude: A Strange New World
The six ponies, now separated by the overpowering of the spell, woke and looked at their surroundings. All they saw, was a field of black. Eventually, the purple one spoke.
"Girls? I'm sorry," said Twilight.
"What was even in that dastardly spell, Twilight? It felt like star spiders crawling on me in my sleep." Rarity shivered at the thought.
Twilight looked a little sheepish. "Maybe I resorted to using dark magic to power my spell a bit. Just a bit, though."
"So, um, are we... dead?" Fluttershy's voice drew everypony's attention to the shyest one, asking the boldest question. It was with that, they noticed there was a little something off with how they looked.
"I'm a foal?!" Rainbow cried out, no doubt thinking of how the news affected her flying.
The alicorn princess looked around in a panic. "The spell wasn't supposed to do this! Even if we were dead, we wouldn't resort to being foals, surely!"
"So, we're... not dead?" The butter yellow pegasus tried to lighten up the mood. Key word definitely being tried.
Rainbow was about to say some snarky reply, when a rectangle suddenly burst into unfamiliar colors and shapes. The blur eventually became a recognizable shape, but only to Twilight.
"Are we... in the human world?"
The doctors began to speak, but that wasn't what concerned anypony at the moment.
Rarity seemed disgusted by the bland colors. "If this is the human world, than the humans are dreadfully... beige."
"This doesn't look like anypony - anybody! - I know in the human world," Twilight said, perplexed.
Two faces looked down on whatever it was that they were looking through. "I think we'll name her... Christine," said the female one.
"Well, Twi-" Applejack began to say.
"I don't think we're in anywhere we know anymore."
Author's Note
I'm sorry this is so short! I just felt I should have done this, but it didn't fit anywhere on my plan! I promise I'll make the other chapters longer... after several months. What? I have school, y'know. Or did ya forget to read the bio? (In middle school, right now.) Although that was pretty unneeded for those who did read the bio....
