Celestia had retreated to her room for the night. Luna guarded the castle with her guards. Luna wondered about small things as she walked.How did ponies survive those newly made nightclubs? Stuff like that. Luna was walking through the castle when she felt a presence she had not felt in a long time. She ran towards her sister and away from the guards who asked,"Princess?" She charged yelling,"TIIIAAAAA!!!" She ran from herself and for herself. She screeched as the darkness came closer. Then,THUMP!! And then there was nothing. 13 YEARS LATER Rarity looked out at the sky. How had everything gone so wrong? Equestria was in trouble. Fire,plagues and screams tore through the air. She thought to herself,"Equestria needs her heros." She shook her head."Bad Rarity,"she childed,"That's old thinking,besides that they couldn't have survived this nightmare." She heard a yell for her outside as she walked out to get Daylight Shift's war reports. She sighed to herself and wished for the good old days. They were no more. She looked at the pictures on her nightstand as she walked out,closing the door on old friends,faces and thoughts Pinkamena sat in her cell and grumped. She had no pony to eat for 3 days and she was starving. She giggled to herself as she imagined the delicious flesh tearing under her strong teeth. Some part of her cried for them. She brushed that aside. The part of her protested saying "You wouldn't eat them would you?" "So what,"she said out loud getting glances from the prisoners near her who probably thought she was crazy(which she was),"They're dead anyway" There was a thump behind her as the new victim was dropped down. She smiled and turned around. Fluttershy retreated into the bathroom.Her new friends were nice to her ,but not as nice as her old ones. She looked in the mirror and swore a promise,"I will avenge you." She smiled sadly. She had made that promise very day for thirteen years. She looked down at her butterfly necklace,the only remnant of her old life. A urgent call came from outside and she responded,"In a minute." She sat down in the bathroom and cried. For them,for her,for empty promises. Applejack finished her labor for the night. She sat down and stared at the stars. She remembered her friends and the times they had spent together. She started crying. hard. She couldn't help it as the grief from her losing her friends and family poured over her. She remembered all of them. She cried for them all. The landlord screamed at her to get back inside. She left dragging her body behind her. When she got there there,the landlord whipped her asking why she was out so late. She shrugged and stepped back inside the house. Rainbow had had it. The beatings came everyday,harder and harder. She gritted her teeth and worked through the old scars and the new. She barely managed to lay down. She put her head down as the guards came jeering at her. She ignored them just as she had every night for thirteen years. She leaned down and removed the slab looking at the lightning shaped ruby underneath the rock. Good memories flew back to her. She choked back a sob for everything she'd lost. She slid the stone over the jewel and curled up to a painful sleep. Twilight banged her head on the wall of the chamber she was trapped in. She had cried,kicked and done this routine for thirteen years now. She looked out to the throne room.It was so different from when she was a student. No more were the days she could run through the halls. Her friends were either gone or dead. She didn't know which one was worse. She knew she was trapped in this prison. She knew she could never escape or see her friends again. She looked at the crown laying next to her. She held back tears that were attempting to overflow her for the one millionth time in these 13 years. She looked through her chamber again and cried,"Oh Sweet Celestia!!! She heard the words of her hero piercing her mind."You have made an awful desicion for my empire and now you must leave!!." She shook off the tears gleaming in her eyes. The hypnotizing voice in the back of her mind murmured to her telling her where to go and what to do. She at least had an idea of where she was going. She wanted to scream. She looked behind her to see if anyone was chasing her. No one. She slowed to a trot. Then her queen's voice echoed through the streets,"If any pony sees a young unicorn mare by the name of Swan Song,Bring her here immediately. She needs to be arrested." She came to the realization she couldn't run through the city streets. She saw an old building to her right and swung around towards it. She slammed the door behind her and saw a dark abandoned building. The ponies outside shouted and hooves clipped on the floor.It took her a moment to realize where she was. The old archives. The queens had forbidden anypony to come in this section of the library. She noticed a picture of two alicorns defeating a creature."Cool." She murmured to herself,"This is where Nightmare Moon and Solar Flare fought off the evil Celestia and Luna." There was a hole in the wall of the library. She stumbled out as Her Majesty's voice screeched,"IF YOU FIND HER,KILL HER!!!!" She searched the ruins,stumbling this way and that. Several ruined pictures of glass. There was one of Nightmare Moon being blasted. Who would do such an awful thing, she wondered. She didn't pay attention to it as she trudged on. She wandered until she found herself at the edge of the Everfree Forest. According to history the forest had devoured a small village named Ponyville shortly after Celestia and Luna's downfall. A spark went off in her brain. She wondered if the small voice had set it off. The realization gripped her. The Rebels They had made their home in there. She gritted her teeth and charged in. She wandered through the forest,jumping at every sound. She banged into trees and shrieked at animals. And she hadn't seen a single flying feather rebel. She ran through all the information the armies had gathered about the revolt. The leader ruled in the Everfree Forest. duh. She knew the rebellion had captains,admirals,and generals. They were looking for the evil "Elements of Harmony". They believed Nightmare Moon and Solar Flare's regin needed to be stopped. No one knew what the leader looked like. There were many of them. The one pony in the rebellion she knew was the infamous,Daylight Shift. Ponies from weak backgrounds fled to the rebellion all the time. All these things ran through her brain as she passed trees,going deeper into the woods. She kept walking and suddenly there was a noise. She listened harder. CREAK She had a split second to wonder before the trees leaned down and grabbed her. She screeched. Her vision clouded. The last time she saw were a bunch of forms streaked with mud. Ah she thought before she blacked out. She had dark blue eyes and her mane was a tangle of different shades of blue. She had old scars on her back and several bandages across her body. She looked a lot like Swan Song."Whoa"she giggled,"Your eyes are neon" Swan Song repeated her earlier phrase."What?" "My name is Bubbles and I will be your tour guide."said the unicorn. "OKKKK" Swan replied. Bubbles used her horn to chop off the vines wrapping around Swan's legs. She,however,kept the one around her horn blocking her magic. Then,Bubbles gestured for Swan to follow."So",Bubbles said."Your name??" "Swan Song."she replied. "Great!!"Bubbles chirped."Welcome to our town." Swan looked out to the rebel base. The very one Nightmare had been trying to find for thirteen years. It was clear it used to be a cheerful little town until the forest began to win the battle for the homes. The pink paint was faded and cracked. The hay on some roofs was gone. The ponies in the town looked war hardened and injured. She saw a Earth Pony stallion with a deep scar down his face."So,do you know any of the admirals or captains.Are they here?" She asked trying to sound casual. Bubbles looked at her."I'm not allowed to reveal anything until you can prove you are actually here to help us not hurt." Her bubbly tone of voice was gone. She sounded normal. "Hi!!"Bubbles yelled a second later."Maggie over here!!" An orange Pegasus with yellow, pink, blue, and purple mane ambled over. She had electric blue eyes and two pearls around her mane and tail. "This is Magnolia,my sister."Bubbles said cheerfully,hugging the Pegasus. "You too are siblings?" Swan asked. They looked nothing alike. Magnolia opened her mouth to reply,but was interrupted by Bubbles,"I know right when Maggie was born, Mom thought the hospital made a mistake and had gotten her baby mixed up,but they checked and Maggie is my sibling.Mom said Maggie looks like her grandfather because he was an orange Pegasus too. Father says Maggie has his freckles and I have his color scheme..." Magnolia tapped her sibling.Bubbles completely ingnored her and kept talking. Magnolia took that opportunity to jab her hoof into her sisters shoulder."Maggie,if you want to say something just say please."Bubbles said,glaring at her. "Alright, PLEASE shut up." Magnolia said,smirking. The two started yelling at each other. Swan Song sighed. She heard hooves on the dirt behind her. She turned to see the stallion who had the scar behind her."Magnolia and Bubbles,Jewel requests you to join her for dinner and a meeting. She wants you to bring you friend too." Swan opened her mouth to ask a question when Bubbles blurted out,"Wow,a meeting with Jewel!What an honor." "Follow me." They headed towards a brown building in the center of the town. A light purple unicorn with warm colored mane stood at the entrance. She wore a scarily long braid."Come on in." She said warmly. Waiting for them were two white ponies. One was a pegusas with turquoise mane and thick bangs. The pegusas had several old scars on her and bandages wrapped around her legs. She had light blue spots all over her body. The other was a unicorn with purple mane that was long and tangled. Of the two the unicorn was the most beat up.mShe wore a pouch around her neck and had a regal air about her. So that is Jewel thought Swan Song. Jewel nodded to them."Welcome,we have much to discuss." Bubbles was surprisingly calm as she replied,"Of course." Swan ended up next to Jewel. Jewel turned to her,"What is your name?" Maggie covered Bubbles' mouth before she could interrupt."Swan Song." Swan replied."What a pretty name." Jewel said. Silence."This is Cloudbuster,"she said gesturing to the pegusas."And Daylight Shift." Swan held her breath. Daylight Shift. The most feared pony in the rebellion. She was known for paralyzing ponies for hours with her quick jabs and strikes. And she was a co-leader of the rebellionAnother awkward silence. A messenger pony raced in."Is this a bad time??" "Not at all."Jewel said. The pony took a breath.
