//-------------------------------------------------------// Written in the stars -by Sbattymadri- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Would you listen to them? //-------------------------------------------------------// Author's Note Keep in mind that this is my very first attempt at writing in English, and if you have any suggestions on how I can improve, go for it! Would you listen to them? Up there, in the thin clouds that decorate the sky’s beautiful twilight, weather can be rather chilly, warmed only by the feeble light of the first stars painting the sky. But Harmonia didn’t fear the cold air of Cloudsdale, being a young Pegasus has some advantages, such as a well-known resistance to low temperatures. Not that she would have minded anyway, as she trotted out the enlighten doorframe of her house toward the city streets, with tears gathering up in the corners of her magenta eyes. Being the last of a long series of siblings, she was often victim of the annoyances of her brothers, and even if she’d got used to it, failing the admission test for the Wonderbolts academy surely didn’t make the vexations stop, and that particular afternoon they seemed to have found new joy in ruining their sister day. So, opening her white wings she flew, passing the few ponies that were still outside that evening. They glanced at her with a mix of confusion and worry, glances she didn’t have the courage to reciprocate. Reaching a cloud far enough from everything, or rather, everypony else, she burst in to tears, drying her eyes in the fluffy white matter that surrounded her. “WHAT’S WRONG WITH ME?” she shouted, talking to some invisible entity. “They always treat me so badly… ever since I was born… I-I don’t know what to do anymore… I am not even able to pass a stupid test…” She raised her face to the stars, gazing at the night sky as in search of something, or rather, somepony, that could ease her pain. “W-what should I do? I don’t even know if I have a purpose… and nopony seems to care! My parents say that I whine too much, and that I could do anything if I really wanted, but they just don’t understand!” So Harmonia stopped sniffing and sobbing, trying with decision to repress her cry, but that made her eyes only more wet, while she stared at the dark canopy. “Answer me! Give me a sign, anything, but please, stars tell me, who am I? What is my place?” The young foal has finally burst out everything, and without any more tears but with a tip of anger she was pointing her face up, hoping for an answer but knowing that it wouldn’t come. She was just covering her muzzle behind her long cyan mane and beginning to walk back home with her tail between her back legs, when with the corner of her eye she spotted something strange: A dot, moving slowly in the sky, too slow to be a comet and too bright to be a product of her imagination. She didn’t even realize what that strange phenomenon was when other two, ten, one hundred dots began to move, rearranging themselves in the sky as moved by some big puppet master. The pony sat in awe, the stars were moving in the night, switching and gathering, following a great scheme, a great scheme that showed a great message, wrote in great characters: “THE FUCK I CARE” So Harmonia with her wide eyes, yet still wet, stared in confusion at the huge written that has formed, while other stars began to move, drawing a representation of what the foal recognized as an intimate part of stallions anatomy, and from the top witch comet were spreading out. Not sure of what was happening, and a bit worried that the fault of it was hers, the Pegasus bolted away, toward her house 'What have I done? Did I make the stars upset?' she thought in fear, while the night was being silently disfigured by a stylized version of Princess Celestia with a remarkably big rear. 'I promise I will take the test again, just make it stop, PLEASE!' In the meantime, on the top of one of Canterlot castle towers, more precisely on the balcony of one of the royal chambers, there were an excellent bottle of Applejack Daniels almost empty on the floor, while his owner, a dark alicorn with a flowing blue mane, gazed at the show of a sign saying “LUNA RULES CELESTIA DROOLES” While it was forming up above her. Whit her tongue out of the side of her muzzle as a sign of concentration, Princess Luna drawled: “Eheh, take thish one Tia, so nesht time you will think twice a*hic*bout finishing all the chocolate chips cookies from the jar…” *** *** *** Another alicorn, on another balcony, was guiding the sun out from the horizon into the sky of what it looked like it was going to be a tiring day. Her bored expression wasn’t affected by the suddenly show up of her sister behind her, who was covering her eyes from the light of the dawn, even with the thick pair of sunglasses she was wearing as a protection, with the purpose to ease her throbbing headache. “Oh, come on Tia, I said I am sorry, I just had some very difficult papers to work at and I wanted to relax a bit.” The older one didn’t even blink, and answered without turning her head. “Well, your ‘relax time’ it’s going to be very hard to explain once I open the day court.” She let out a sigh and continued, “…But I guess it didn’t go as bad as when I made the same mistake.” The face of Luna light up in a beam while she remembered the event witch her sister was alluding about. “Eheh, I still remember the look on your face when you realized you had set the chambers of Blueblood on fire ahah…” But then she received a side-glance from a not-really-amused Princess Celestia. “…but yes, thou shall see my dear sister, I am sure everypony has already forgot about this little incident!” Meanwhile, in a little house in the periphery of Cloudsdale, a young foal was reading ‘History and bad puns about Wonderbolts fifth edition’, eyeing outside the window from time to time, and shivering a bit before returning to her reading.
