Spike took a quick look around to be sure he was alone. Twilight had gone shopping, and the library door was locked, so he had no reason to suspect anypony could see him. Still he had to admit that it always made him nervous when he did this.
After one more glance around, he slowly lifted Twilight’s mattress and examined the stockpile hidden beneath it. The small hoard of magazines was tantalizing, but he had one specific one in mind. Cautiously, he reached out and grabbed the one he had examined every other night for the past few weeks.
The magazine in question was a special edition, “Small Town Stallions: Ponyville.” He had originally chosen this particular volume because he understood that it was an edition that Twilight didn’t seem to keep very good track of. However since then he had developed something of an affinity for the stallions pictured within.
The dragon quietly moved over to his bed and took a seat. He opened the book and took a moment to consider what he should examine today. He decided quickly and after skimming through the pages on “Mr. Pastry,” “Dr. Hourglass,” and “The Sofa King,” came once more across his personal favorite spread.
The first picture of the spread was of a sweaty workhorse called “Big Red” pulling a plow and showing off his well-toned rear. Spike felt himself harden almost immediately as he imagined plowing the stallion himself. He started to gently stroke himself as he stared at the page and let his imagination go wild.
The next page featured the same stallion in a more relaxed pose with the caption “A Little Time Off.” “Big Red” was shown lying against a tree with his eyes closed and his collar discarded to the side. Of course, he also displayed a raging hard-on.
Spike placed the fingers on his free hand in his mouth while he stared at the picture. Spike paid the picture little attention because of how little it showed. However, on the adjacent page the position was shown from a far more revealing angle. “Big Red’s” cutie mark was covered by his partner’s hooves, but everything else was in clear view, from the stallion’s penetrated hole to the line of semen leading from the tip of his shaft to the grass below.

“You don’t need to do anything, Darling,” her friend topped off her cup as she spoke. “It’s all perfectly natural. Spike’s hardly the only boy in Ponyville going through something like this. You should hear what Lickety Split’s poor mother is going through.”
“Lickety Split?” Twilight paused for a moment before looking up from her tea. “You don’t think-“
“You’re worrying yourself over nothing,” Rarity continued, ignoring Twilight’s question, “Besides, little Spike has never been good at keeping secrets. I’m sure he’ll be discussing this with you himself by the end of the month.”
Twilight nodded and sipped her tea. She knew her friend was probably right, but she still had her worries. “I guess I’m just concerned about the whole adulthood thing altogether. Think about it. Last time he started a phase he almost destroyed the entire town.”
Rarity smiled and sipped from her own cup before continuing. “If that’s all that’s bothering you than why don’t you just read a few more books on the subject? I’m sure you can find a copy or two in that tree of yours.”
“I have actually been looking; all week. All I could find were a bunch of myth and…well,” Twilight shifted uncomfortably and glanced out the window. There was a pretty good view of Sweet Apple Acres from Rarity’s home. She had to admit it was an appropriate view for the conversation.
“Go on dear.”
“Oh right.” Twilight turned back to her friend. “I was just saying that those old stories always talk about dragons as, you know, monsters. The kinds that throw everything they want into a big hoard.”
Rarity nodded and placed a comforting hoof on her friend’s shoulder. “Well I’m sure we don’t have to worry about that with Spike, dear.”
Twilight just smiled and responded, “I’m sure you’re right.”

Spike came to his senses some time later in the Sweet Apple Acres orchard after finally catching a glimpse of from behind a tree Big Macintosh. It wasn’t because the temptation had left. In fact, the stallion in question was actually laying in a pose that seemed to be pulled straight out of the magazine, with the exception of the raging hard-on.

He started by grabbing the red stud tightly and locking him into a kiss. Big Mac broke it quickly, but he didn’t seem to complain. The expression he wore was one of confusion rather than displeasure.
Spike moved in more slowly the second time, and the kiss was a touch more gentle. This time Big Mac didn’t break it. Spike took this as a signal that his partner was willing, and immediately moved a hand around to the stallion’s backside.
