THE SHARK'S TRUE FACE

Prologue

Rage is a strong emotion. It is similar to anger, but a much more reckless thing. It can drive people to do things they normally would have never done. It can be the ending power to avenge and take revenge. It can cause violence. It can ultimately separate that which seems inseparable. In it's base form, it can drive one to insanity.

  When one indulges too often in something, enjoyable or otherwise, it often becomes difficult to break away from it. When one indulges in rage, it can both clear the mind and cloud it. But when one delves too far into a burning hatred fuled by rage, it can easily consume them as a whole, driving their entire purpose.

  If their purpose is then taken away, nothing remains but a broken soul.

  David lay on the ground, completely unmoving. He slowly gained consciousness as he gained feeling in his body. As his mind turned back on, the rage within seeped back to the front, and with alarming speed, he shot up, searching for whom at which his hatred was directed.

  As his senses fell back into place, he noticed the torrents of rain pouring from the sky flying almost horizontally from massive gales accompanied by large flashes of electricity letting themselves be known just as well through sight as by sound.

  Looking around, David saw miles of flat moor, with no discernible ways of telling direction.

  Considering the situation, he determined that they must have dumped him here after they defeated him. 'In fact,' he reasoned, 'I should have died from what they did to me. Just like they did to the rest.'

  Feeling his rage spike, he yelled and slammed a fist into the ground, making an indention a few inches deep. After standing back up, he realized the armor he had worn was gone, replaced by cargo pants and a plain, white T-shirt. He felt something around his neck and reached into his shirt to pull out a pair of dog tags. On one of them was his name, number, and blood type. On the other was simply;

Sharkface

  Clutching the tags, he started walking in a random direction. "You'll pay for what you've done, Carolina."
