Chapter 1 ~ Why I Don't Have Kids

The gentle, tinkling sound of magic hung in the otherwise silent air as Fandom, a dark tan Unicorn, stared at the rainbow filled jar. The colors pressed together in their liquid form but never blending . With a smirk, she pushed the cork in and carefully meandered to her desk, her gray/blue eyes sparkling with triumph. "Now I can finally go to the princesses-"

Before the thought was finished, her front door was slammed open, the door frame cracking with the force as two tiny foals thundered in, their brown and gray coats a blur as they shouted at the top of their lungs. "AUNT FANDOM!"

With a screech of horror, Fandom jumped up high, her face contorting in horror as she lost concentration, the bottle of rainbow juice fell to the hardwood floor with a loud crash, the liquid flying all over the open room, landing on the wall and other surfaces.

The mare looked at the mess, the liquid dripping from her left eye and cheek as she realized what just happened. Her eyes narrowing as she turned on the two foals.

Cocoa Puff, a little filly with a light brown coat and lighter patches here and there, crouched down, her ears pinned to her skull as she laughed nervously under her 'Aunts' stare. Time Turner, a ragged dark brown and gray colt with deep red eyes, bowed his head in shame. "I'm sorry, Aunt Fandom, I didn't realize you were working."

Fandom scoffed. "It shouldn't matter if I'm working or not, you never barge into anyone's home like that." She scolded, "I could have been hanging out with a guest."

"Don't kid yourself Auntie Fandom, you've never kept a special somepony to save your life." Cocoa Puff spoke up, earning a look from her brother and the mare.

"That's beside the point." The mare sad sharply. "What are you guys doing here, anyway? Staying for the weekend while your parents go and battle time demons, or something?" She went to the kitchen and grabbed the cleaning spray and rag.

"You're so smart, Auntie Fandom!" Cocoa Puff squealed. "Right on the dot.

As the older mare cleaned up the mess, the two foals watched, their eyes transfixed on her every move.

With a sigh, Fandom looked right at their excited faces. "Go to my study and I'll think of a nice story for you to hear, okay?" She tossed her head back to the door that leads to the room in question, her muzzle turned up in an amused smirk as she watched the twins stumble and dash to the Study.

Fandom watched the two with a thoughtful expression. They reminded her of a story that she had only heard from word of mouth, but the source was a reliable one. Maybe this was the story they should hear.

After wringing the evidence she risked her life to collect into a new bottle and settled it on the counter for later, she trotted to the study. "So, you guys like Alicorns, right?"

Cocoa Puff gasped, her eyes wide. "You don't mean the Mary-Sue ones, right?" She breathed, looking scared. Fandom gapped at the filly, shaking her head. "I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that. No, she's not a Mary-Sue, she earned her wings." She sat down.

"The only thing is, in order to tell this tale, I must tell you the story of another..."
