It was a cold fall night, colder than it normally would be in September. Octavia was returning home from a concert that had run late, and shivered at the cold wind running through the streets of Canterlot. She picked up her pace slightly, hoping to reach home soon. In a rush, Octavia decided to go through an alleyway between two buildings to make her walk shorter. Her teeth chattered as she passed between the two buildings.

Octavia's ears tilted as she heard something make a crashing sound in front of her. "Um, hello?" Octavia said with a quiver, "Is someone there?" She could see nothing but darkness ahead. She continued slowly, her eyes darting to every dark shadow that hung in the shaded alleyway. Maybe I should have stayed on my normal path. Octavia thought. She was growing closer to the other side, though, and was not going to turn back because of a simple sound.

Octavia could see what had made the sound now. A trash can was tipped over on the right side of the alleyway. There was however, no sign of what had knocked it down. She continued nervously on the left side of the alley.

Suddenly, a figure moved on the other side of the alley. Ocatvia's eyes shot over to the space where she was sure she had seen something move. As she stood looking for the figure, something shot out of the darkness. Octavia's eyes widened in fear, and a piercing scream cut through the night.
