“War, War Never Changes. Or At Least, That’s What They Tell Me."

This is the story of my life. A life that would send into what I could only describe as nothing more than Tartarus itself.

Before I began I guess I should feel you in on where I was before it was destroyed.

I grew up inside the steel confines of the underground shelter known as Stable 70. One of only two Stables that were built inside the borders of the Dragon Empire, more specifically the border city of Salt Lick City. A large multi-story steel bunker built underground in order to protect those inside from dangerous radiation in case of megaspell fallout. A fallout that no pony, zebra, or dragon expected to happen. But still ended up occurring anyway.

The cities of Equestria and its enemy in war the Zebra Empire being destroyed by weapons of mass destruction known as megaspells. Nowhere was safe from the end of the world. Not even the Dragon Empire. The Dragon Empire being a large country that shared the southern border with Equestria. The large empire being mostly a desert with only a few major cities. Most notably being the Empire’s capital Pearland and the border city of Salt Lick City that I mentioned earlier. The Dragon Empire being ruled by a single king, a king that went by the name of the Alpha. The Alpha being the rarest and most powerful form of a dragon. Alpha’s being able to easily reach the rise of mountains. The Dragon Empire being ruled by the third of these Alphas during the Great War between Equestria and the Zebra Empire. The Dragon Empire becoming one of Equestria’s closest allies under the rule of the third Alpha. The third Alpha spending most of his time near the end of the war in the border city of Salt Lick City. The city also being where the Embassy for Equestria was located. Theta was still inside the city when it was hit, like so many others during the ‘Last Day’. Salt Lick City getting hit directly by a massive megaspell from the Zebra Empire, a megaspell that was said to be the same size as the one that had hit Manehattan. Theta, along with many other ponies and dragons alike, believed to have been killed in the massive blast. The city almost getting completely leveled.

Luckily, some ponies and dragons were able to escape from the almost certain death from the megaspell. Them finding shelter inside the steel confines of Stable 70. My mother, Beta, her being just an infant at the time being one of the last to find safety inside the underground bomb shelter. The steel door of Stable 70 closing behind her. Her having no mother or father that she knew, being an orphan inside a steel bunker built to keep out the toxic radiation from above.

The Stable being one of the largest ever built, and it needed to be as it was the Stable, at least that I know of, that was built specifically to hold not just ponies but also dragons. The hallways being much wider than other stables to accommodate the increased size of most dragons.
Life in the Stable isn’t that bad, per say. A little boring, but at least you don’t have to worry about getting shot, or at least unless you’re an idiot actually shot yourself at the firing range inside the Stable. But even with that, all of the weapons in the Stable aren’t powerful to pierce dragon scales. So my mother and I are safe when it comes to weapons. Other that there isn’t really that much to say about good old Stable 70. I guess it really makes the old saying ‘same shit, different day’ come true. I can tell you that much.

Oh, before I forget, my name’s Eta by the way and I just turned the bright semi-young age of 20. Me along with my mother, Beta, are the last dragons that are still alive inside the steel confines of Stable 70 over 200 hundred years since its large metal door was sealed. This is my story and I hope you ready for it. I sure as the pits of Tartarus are filled with fire wasn’t.

Author's Note

Salt Lick City is an obvious analog of Salt Lake City, Utah, which just happens to also be my hometown. This story will take place both a few months before and during the original events of Littlepip's Fallout Equestria.

Any connection to the fact that Vault 70 actually is supposed to be located in Salt Lake City in the Fallout universe is completely coincidental. No, I'm serious I decided on Stable 70 before I found out that Vault 70 was actually located in Salt Lake.
