“Happy Father’s Day!”
“Thank you Twiley. How are you doing today?” Night Light turned around to hug his daughter
“I’m doing good. How are you doing today?”
“Better now. I was scared that my kids had forgotten about what today was.” He went over to the window and just stared at the sky.
“Shining isn’t here? Cadence said he was planning on coming for a visit.”
“Really? I haven’t heard anything.” Noticing her father getting becoming increasingly upset, Twilight ran over and hugged her father.
“I’m sure he is just really busy, or missed the train. He’ll be here soon.”
Twilights Velvet came up and put a hoof on her shoulder “Hey Twilight? Can I talk to you for a moment?”
"But....."
“It’s ok Twiley, your mom needs to talk to you.”
“If you’re sure.” She started walking to the bedroom before turning around. “I’ll be back in a couple minutes, then we can go get dinner. All
three of us, my treat.”
“Sounds good.”
That got up to the bedroom, when Twilight Velvet pushed her daughter in and shut the door. “What’s wrong with you?”
The alicorn took a step back at the sudden change of mood from her mother. “What’s wrong with me?”
“Shinning isn’t coming. Your brother and him got into a huge fight when he was here last month. They haven’t talked since. “
“They what?”
“He was planning on coming a couple of months ago, when he was talking to you about it.” She walked over to a small lock box that she kept
hidden in her closet.
“He wrote me last week saying he wasn’t going to come, and begging not to bring it up because he didn’t want to hurt him anymore than necessary.” Twilight explained, showing the scroll to her daughter.
“Why in the name of Equestria would he do that? What were they even fighting about?”
“Your father was trying to give him parenting tips, and he started getting mad thinking that he was calling your brother a bad father. Naturally Shining defended himself, and then your father; just as stubborn headed as ever; tried to defend himself from the miscommunication.”
Sighing Twilight got up and looked out the window. “Sounds like both of them. Maybe I can help, not just as the Princess of Friendship, but also as a daughter and sister?
“If you are able to throw your title in their faces and force them to sit down and actually talk, instead of staying mad and working it out with a hoofball match, then I will bake you a huge stack of my special brownies.”
“I think I will need them to get those two calm enough to talk.” Twilight giggled.
“You are thinking of the cookies. Not the brownies are made with white chocolate.”
“That’s right. You stopped putting it in brownies because Shining had kept eating too many, and he doesn’t like cookies.”
“Correct.”
“This isn’t a test mom.”
“Yes, yes it is. It’s a test of my patience with those two.”
“I’m going, don’t worry.”
Dear Cadence,
Make sure you are alone when you read this please.
I need your help with something. Today I found out that My father and Shining Armor are fighting, again. I want to get them together to talk it out, but knowing Shining he won’t come unless he believes it is an emergency.
I don’t care how you manage to do it, but if it is possible to get here by tonight that would be amazing. Hopefully we can save this Father’s Day for both of them. Especially since this is Shinys first one as an actual father.
Thank you in advance. Also, bring snacks. I have a feeling that we are going to see quite a show tonight. I’ll have one of the girls watch over Flurry Hearts if you wish. Applejack and Fluttershy insisted on coming with me. They are just at the castle while I am visiting, then we are meeting up with them, Celestia, and Luna for breakfast tomorrow.

With a flash of magic, the alicorn sent the letter.
“Do you think it will work?”
“I know it will. Candace and I already have “emergency” reasons prepared. After last time, we though ahead with the plan.“ She stated proudly
“You really are too smart for your own good.” Twilight Velvet giggled shaking her head.

Dear Twilight,
I was wondering what was bothering him. He is getting a few things for the road, and we will be there on the train that leaves in a half hour.
I told him that his favorite comic book store was having a 90% off for all dads. He didn’t need any more convincing. It’s sad and funny at the same time. I will bring him to the Castle first, then to your house since you are so close to the actual comic book store. Also this way he won’t suspect anything.
Flurry Hearts is coming with us, but Sunburst offered to come to watch over her. He is one of the very few ponies that can actually control her during a magic surge.

“See, I told you we got it covered.”
‘He really just got tricked by comic books. How old is your brother again?”
‘Hey, were getting him here. That’s all that matters.” Twilight ran out of the door leaving her mother reading over the scroll again.
“Wow, just wow. I thought Twilight was bad about that kind of stuff.”
Later that night the three of them were sitting around the table playing cards, when they heard yelling outside.
“I think they are here.”
“What did you two do?” Night Light asked staring at the door in surprise.
“I’ll be right back.” Twilight ran out the door, coming back with Cadence and Shining Armor engulfed in three different color auras. One as a
barrier, and Two to carry him.
“This is kidnaping!” The troubled stallion yelled, causing a annoyed glare from his wife.
Setting him down on the couch next to Night Light, the two alicorns put barriers around the room, so no one could leave.
“What is the meaning of this?” Night Light sternly asked trying to get through the front door.
“You two.” Twilight Velvet walked over to them, with tea. “You are going to sit down and talk. Nopony is leaving until then. This is Father’s
Day. It is a day designed for fathers. You both are fathers, that should make you two even closer, yet you are fighting.”
“This is our business girls. Can you please just stay out of it?” The agitated stallion sat down and looked over to his wife and daughter
“No we can’t. You two are acting like little colts fighting over spilled milk.”
“We are not, and what makes you guys think you can help us?” Shining asked glaring at his wife and sister.
“You have the Princess of Love, and the Princess of Friendship in this very room. If this isn’t enough we can get the entire harmony group complete with Celestia and Luna.” Cadence snapped, at them having doubt them.
“Not to mention, that if this isn’t resolved you will most likely end up sleeping down here.” Twilight Velvet added with a smirk
“You two are really using your Royal tittles on us?” Night Light asked in disbelief
“I am the former Captain of the Royal Guard, not to mention Prince to the Crystal Empire. I can handle myself.”
“How is that working out so far?”
“It’s going good. Better than good, it’s great! I am looked up to, and a role model. I have an amazing wife, sister, mother, and daughter. What more could I need or want?”
“How about a father.” Night Light asked, obviously hurt that he didn’t mention him.
‘How about you start acting like a father then.”
“I was just trying to help, but just like always your stubbornness and pride took over.”
“Well how do you expect me to act when you think I am a bad father!?” Shining started pacing, obviously starting to get furious.
“I didn’t say you were a bad father, It’s just you are a new father and I have raised two amazing kids. Not to mention, I have experience with baby unicorns.” Night Light explained as calmly as he could, to avoid losing his temper also.
“You? Mom was there for us way more then you ever were! I mean seriously, Celestia was there more!”
“After your mother’s injury I had to support our family. I tried my best to provide my family with everything they could ever need. Then considering that one is a Princess and Element of Harmony, not to mention heroine of Equestria, then other is a Prince to a lost kingdom, married to a Princess, have a alicorn daughter, and was the former captain of the royal guard I think I did a pretty darn GOOD JOB!” He smashed his hoof down onto the counter, knocking over his cup of tea witch burnt his hoof.
“Dad, look I’m sorry. I just let my feelings get ahead of me. I just don’t want Flurry Hearts to think that I’m not being the best I can be. Then when you started telling me what I need to be doing, I felt like I am failing her.”
“Hey Shiny, how do we always end up like this?”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean; why do we fight so often? Then it takes more yelling before we finally do something about it.”
“Not sure. Hey Dad?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you think the girls realized that we do this?”
“What makes you say that?”
“That’s why.” Shining Armor pointed over to the kitchen that was being protected by a magical shield and all three mares wearing helmets.
“After last time, can you blame them?” Night Light laughed
“I suppose not. I thought Luna was going to knock me out the window with the royal Canterlot voice after the plasma ball hit her.”
“It was funny seeing her covered in green plasma.”
“That it was son. That it was.”
“Do you think the girls can hear us?” Shining asked, getting a idea.
“Let’s find out. Yell at them, but make it look like you are yelling at me. If they don’t respond, then create a distraction. We can sneak out to that place you love, and they won’t step foot in. “
“The Sloppy Hoof? That is the best barbeque joint in Canterlot!”
“I know. Now get to yelling! I'm hungry.”
“HOW DARE YOU! WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU CAN COME IN HERE AND TELL US WHAT TO DO!” Shining got up and pointed a hoof at his dad. “JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE A PRECIOUS PRINCESS DOESN’T MEAN WE HAVE TO LISTEN TO YOU! WE ARE FAMILY, NOT YOUR SERVENTS!”
Night Light looked over to see that none of them had moved from their positions.
“Light your horn, and let’s get out of here.”
Shining created a blindingly white light, as they slipped through the front door.
“How long should we wait, until we tell them that we could hear everything that they said with the enhanced sound spell I casted?” Cadence asked, going through payback ideas for what her husband just said.
“A little longer. Let’s see how tough they can be.”
“Twilight, sweetie what are you planning?”
“Cadence, where did you put that Nightmare Moon replica?”
