Chapter 13-Rainbow Dash finds out
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Hi! What's your name? I'm Rainbow Dash" Rainbow Dash asked, extending her hoof.
"Scootaloo." she replied.
Rainbow paused for a moment. 'Scootaloo' was a name she had always loved, she had even considered naming her own child that, if she ever had one. She was a bit surprised, granted that somepony else had chosen the name, but she beamed wide.
"Scootaloo? That's my favorite name! Awesome!"
"Why is your name Rainbow Dash?" Scootaloo blurted out suddenly.
"Um.....perhaps my parents liked the name, and my mane is a dead giveaway." Rainbow chuckled. "Why is your name Scootaloo?"
"Perhaps my parents liked you." Scootaloo said and quickly ran off towards the dormitories.
Rainbow stared after her. She pondered for a moment, what could have the filly's words meant, shrugged and was about to start walking to her own room.
"Ugh!" Cumulus asked, peering around."Where is that Flurry- Fluffy Clouds-" she suddenly gasped, and stared at Rainbow Dash.
"Er....hello?"she said, smiling nervously.
Cumulus walked over and gently cupped her chin, then recovered from this spell and continued to find Fluffy Clouds.
Rainbow was still perplexed, but sighed and went back to her room.
That night, Rainbow decided to pop into the dormitories and say goodnight, and was surprised to see Rumble out.
"Counting stars?" she asked softly.
When Rumble didn't answer, she asked louder. "Counting stars?"
After still no reply, she walked away, coming to a conclusion on who to check on next, but not before calling out:
"Good night, Fluffy Clouds!"
"Good night! Manehatten bridge is falling down, falling down-" he suddenly stopped short when he saw the grey colt.
"Dear God, how are you, hm? Please keep my brother happy, and make sure he doesn't miss me too much." Scootaloo prayed out loud.
Rainbow silently walked into the room and watched her, amused.
"You know, he can't do anything without me. please take care of him, okay?" Scootaloo smiled and opened her eyes.
"Got you." Rainbow smirked.
Scootaloo whirled around in surprise. "Oh, Miss Dash, hi."
"Hm," Rainbow frowned. "All the prayers for your brother, none for your parents, or other siblings, if you have?"
Scootaloo gave her a sad smile. "Now, what do I ask from God for my parents and sister?"
Rainbow looked confused, so Scootaloo went on.
"They're with Him anyway. Whatever they need to ask, they can ask themselves." Scootaloo reached for the picture of her sister and hugged it tight.
Rainbow's smile faded. She walked over to the filly and gave her a tiny hug.
"Hey, now go to sleep, okay? Sweet dreams." Rainbow patted her back and walked out quietly.
As soon as Rainbow reached her room, she grabbed the TV remote and turned the TV on.
"Hi guys! This is Melody Magic and you're watching your favorite show, The Melodigic Show!" Melody announced into her microphne. "Today's show theme is Messages! I'll choose some random pony here, and they are going to say their message for someone they love, or hate, or whatever. Okay, let's start with......you!" she pointed at a purple stallion
"Who's your message for, gentlecolt?"
"Minty Mare." The stallion replied.
"Who's Minty Mare?" Melody asked.
"She's my girlfriend."
There was a lot of ooooohing from the crowd.
"Okay, well. What's your message?"
"Minty Mare, please don't call me. I've found somepony else." the stallion said, wrapping his hoof around the mare next to him.
The crowd all gaped and Melody chuckled.
"Anymore messages! Aha! You, good sir!"
"Y-yeah. I have a message." the stallion stammered.
Rainbow grunted. She couldn't see the face of this stallion because he was facing opposite the camera.
"Okay! Who's your message for? Oh, and please turn around." Melody said.
"Scootaloo." the stallion said, obediently turning around.
Rainbow's eyes almost popped out when she saw who it was.
"Scootaloo, I love you a lot. Where have you gone. Just come back, please." Soarin said, looking heartbroken.
Rainbow's brain felt like it was broken. Scootaloo. No, it couldn't be the same Scootaloo. It must be someone else.
"Who's Scootaloo?" Melody said, snapping Rainbow out of her thoughts.
"Scootaloo's my ten year old sister-in-law." Soarin said. "She's gone to some stupid Summer Camp in Rainbow Falls."
Rainbow didn't waste a second. She flew as fast as she could to Scootaloo's dormitory and gently eased the picture out of the sleeping filly's hooves. Sure enough, the picture was of Violet Peach.
Rainbow stared at the picture for a moment, then hugged the picture tightly. She couldn't stop a tear trickling down her cheek.
Violet was dead. So were her parents. Scootaloo had to live with Soarin, and he was bringing her up single-hoofedly.
Rainbow Dash reached out and ruffled Scootaloo's magenta locks.
