Dragon Ball Z: Broly's Equestrian Adventure
The Adventure Begins! Broly Comes to Equestria!
New Planet Vegeta. A barren rock in the middle of the universe, though it hadn’t always been so. It had once been a world teeming with all manner of life, perhaps comparable to that of Earth. But that had changed with the arrival of the Saiyans, Paragas and his son Broly. Broly, underneath his father’s mind control, had eliminated all life on the planet, as well as most of the South Galaxy. The sole purpose was to lure the Prince of all Saiyans, Vegeta, to the planet to die when Comet Camori passed through.
The plan had been successful at first. Paragas not only brought the Prince to New Vegeta, but many of Earth’s strongest fighters as well. But everything began to go wrong with the arrival of Goku. Unbeknownst to Paragas, Goku was actually Kakarot, another Saiyan that had been born on the same day as Broly. Kakarot’s whining had irritated Broly, and the memories had never been forgotten by the latter. Upon the two meeting, Broly’s anger exploded, allowing him to escape his father’s control. Paragas had tried to stop Broly, but to no avail. The Legendary Super Saiyan had been set free.
Goku, with the help of his friends, tried to fight Broly, but it was no use. Broly would shrug off every attack thrown at him. In the end, Goku had everyone transfer their power to him, and with all his strength, he finally landed a blow on Broly. The last they saw of Broly was his body exploding from his own power. Though the fight had been long and hard, it had finally ended in victory.
But, unbeknownst to Goku and his friends, Broly hadn’t died. He was still very much alive, and was trudging across the battlefield, clutching at his side and breathing heavily. In his battle against Goku, he had been gravely injured, and was heavily bleeding out of his abdomen. He would not let himself die, though. He knew that somewhere on the planet, there was a space pod, and if he could find it, he could escape the planet’s destruction. He trudged on across the battered wasteland, the light of Comet Camori illuminating both the ground and sky as if it were midday.
“Damn you, Kakarot….” He muttered under his breath. Even as he was dying, Broly still couldn’t atmit that he had been beaten by another Saiyan. He was the Legendary Super Saiyan! The most powerful being in the universe! He wasn’t supposed to lose to anyone! He had fought not just Kakarot, but three other Super Saiyans, and a Namekian to boot! Yet, he had been beaten. Why? How? The thought sent shivers down Broly’s spine.
Broly breathed a sigh of relief as he saw the pod up ahead. He broke out into a sprint, hoping to reach the pod in time to escape the planet. But as he began to run, his body collapsed on the ground, his blood pooling on the earth beneath him. Broly couldn’t believe it. He struggled to get up, but to no avail. He had finally reached his limit, and there was nothing awaiting him now but death. He wanted to protest, but found that he couldn’t. After all, he deserved this, didn’t he? How many lives had he taken in his life? How many of those lives had he taken under his father’s control? Hundreds? Thousands? Perhaps, more than he could count? A choked sob came out of his mouth. He had taken so many lives while under his father’s control, and he had repaid him with death. He was no better than his father. As he closed his eyes, he uttered out a few simple words… words that he would probably mutter in Hell forever.
“I’m sorry, everyone… Please, forgive me…”
Unbeknownst to Broly, he wasn’t the only one on New Vegeta. Standing over the Saiyan’s motionless body was a tall, cloaked figure, silhouetted by the light of the comet. The being gazed down at Broly, a look of greed in his eyes. “Finally,” the figure said in a deep, masculine voice. “You’re mine now, Saiyan. Fufufufu, to think, my mother, with all her magic, couldn’t control you. But I am not my mother; I will control you. And with you under my control, my plans will finally come to fruition! Fufufufufufu!” The figure cackled, then looked up into the sky. “But first….” He extended his left hand out, and a staff materialized in his hand. The staff appeared to be made of bones, and held a blood-red orb in its claws. The orb appeared to glow for a moment, then, all at once, time stopped. The comet froze in place, loose rubble hung suspended in the air, and the very air itself seemed to freeze in place.
The figure looked around at his handiwork, giving a nod of satisfaction. “That’s much better,” he said, smiling to himself. He looked down at the unconscious form of Broly. “Now….” he said, pointing the head of his staff at Broly. A sickly, greenish-colored energy began to flow out of Broly’s body and into the figure’s staff. “Mother could never figure out why she couldn’t control you,” the figure said softly as he worked, “But I knew why. It was because your will was too strong. Even now, Mother refuses to accept that fact. But you see, I know of one who did control you once. He was a Demon, like myself, but he had been a God. I know I am no God yet, but I do know that I am stronger than my mother, as far as magic goes. I will control you, Broly, and there’s not a thing you can do to stop me! Fufufufu!”
Unbeknownst to the cloaked figure, Broly was still conscious of what was happening to him, as well as what the figure was saying to him. Controlled? he thought. Have others attempted to control me besides Dad? Ugh, I can feel him draining my energy…. Wait! If that guy’s draining my energy, than that means I still have some left! I just gotta reach out, and…. There! Broly suddenly began moving again, much to the cloaked figure’s surprise. “What!? You can move!?” he exclaimed, moving away from the Saiyan.
Broly brought himself to a standing position, clutching his abdomen with his left arm. He turned to face the cloaked figure, a greenish aura beginning to surround his body. “What were you mouthing off about, you bastard!? I could hear you, don’t try to deny it! You were saying something about your mother controlling me in the past, as well as some sort of demon God as well! Explain yourself!” he screamed at the cloaked figure, his rage quite apparent in his voice. Broly could put up with many things, but mind control wasn’t one of them, and most especially so if it was without his knowledge.
The cloaked figure chuckled darkly at Broly’s outrage. “So, you heard, huh? Well then, I guess I could explain it to you. But first… “ the cloaked figure reached up and drew back his hood, revealing his face to the Saiyan. The figure had pale blue skin, pointy ears, piercing red eyes, long, white hair, and a very cocky grin. “I suppose I should introduce myself. My name is Fu, and I come from about fifty years in the future, give or take a decade,” he said, giving Broly a mock bow.
“Hmm? The future? What are you talking about?” Broly asked apprehensively, standing straight and crossing his arms over his chest. Fu noticed that Broly’s wound was gone, a fading scar being the only visual sign of any injury on him.
“Well, you see,” Fu explained, “Where I come from, time travel is quite common, what with my parents being Time Breakers and all… And so, through them, I learned how to it myself. And as for your being controlled by my mother? Ha! She wishes! She tried to control you years before my birth, so you could say that it’s in my past, but your future. She, of course, failed, and you destroyed her and my father long ago. And the Demon God I mentioned? His name was Demigra, and he didn’t really control you. He more or less possessed your body, so you were his… vessel, in a way. Of course, as I said, this is all in the past, in relation to myself.”
Broly was stunned by Fu’s words. “So, you're saying… that someone is going to control me in the future?” he asked slowly.
Fu chuckled. “Well, not necessarily. Remember, just because you’ve seen an outcome, doesn’t mean that it’s unchangeable. The future is world of infinite possibilities to those in the present. You just have to know what you want, and go for it. So, Broly, let me ask you… What do you want right now?”
Broly took a deep breath, his aura fading. He looked at Fu and said, “Right now, I just want to live out the rest of my life, preferably away from anyone I know.”
Fu gave a nod of satisfaction. “Very well, Saiyan. Then I will grant your request.” He tapped his staff on the ground, and a large portal appeared. “Step through this portal, and all your troubles will be solved. It will send you to a planet far away from anyone who would be less than pleased with your existence.”
Broly looked at Fu, then at the portal. What if he’s lying? he thought. He took a deep breath, then steeled himself. Only one way to find out! He walked through the portal, and it closed behind him.
Fu chuckled as he watched Broly walk through the portal. “That was easier than I thought it would be. For a moment, I thought I would have to fight.” He looked at the spot where Broly had been laying, noticing the pool of blood. He reached down, scooping up a handful of blood from the pool. It instantly solidified into a large, red rock in his hand. “I have all that I need now.” Fu tapped his staff on the ground, and he disappeared in a flash of red light.
As Broly exited the portal, he was surprised by what he saw. He was standing in a field of flowers outside of some sort of town. He took a deep breath, taking in the scent of the air around him. It made want to lay down and take a nice, long break. Everything around him seemed to give off a peaceful vibe on this planet, and he was enjoying it very much. He took a look around him, and noticed that three beings appeared to be staring at him.
The creatures were like nothing Broly had ever seen before. They all appeared to bare some resemblance to a creature that lived on Earth. Ponies? Was that what his father had called them? Broly couldn’t be sure, as he had never seen one before, though he assumed that’s what they were. One was orange, and had wings, and its mane and tail were purple. The second was light gray, with a pale purple and pink mane and tail, and a horn on its head. The last was faded yellow, with a red mane and tail, and had a large, light red bow tied in it's mane.
The beings appeared to freeze in place when they noticed that Broly was staring at them. He heard them give off loud screams before diving into a nearby bush. Broly chuckled slightly. “Hey, come out,” he called, “I won’t bite, I promise.”
A few moments later, a small head poked out from behind the bush, staring at Broly intently. It slowly crept out, it’s gaze never leaving Broly. It slowly approached the Saiyan, curiosity beginning to get the better of it. As it drew closer, it began to get a little bolder in its approach, gaining speed as it closed the distance between them.
“Excuse me, sir, but… what are you?” the small being asked in a distinctly feminine voice.
Broly chuckled, bending down so that he was eye level with the creature. “Don’t you think it's a little rude to ask ‘what’ I am before asking ‘who’ I am?” he asked.
The pony gasped slightly. “Woah, you can talk!”
Broly sighed. “Of course I can talk. You can talk, can’t you?”
The pony nodded her head rapidly. “Of course I can! So, who are you? I’ve never seen anything like you before!”
Broly smirked. “The name’s Broly. I’m a Saiyan from another planet. And you are?”
The pony smiled. “I’m Scootaloo, and I’m one of the bravest fillies in Ponyville!”
Broly nodded. “Well, it's nice to meet you, Scootaloo. So, who are the ones in the bushes? Are they your friends?”
Scootaloo nodded proudly. “Yep, those are my friends, Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom!” She looked over at the bush and called out, “It’s okay, guys, he won’t hurt anypony!”
The other two ponies slowly climbed out of the bush, staring at Broly intently. Broly smiled at them and waved, showing that he meant no harm. They slowly walked up to him, and began walking around him, examining him carefully.
“Um, pardon me, sir, but… ” the gray filly asked Broly, “Your outfit appears to be messed up.”
Broly looked down at himself, noticing that his outfit had taken quite a beating in his last fight. He shrugged it off, waving his hand dismissively. “Nah, it’s fine, I’m planning on getting a new outfit anyways.” He thought for a moment, then said, “Say, would any of you happen to know someone who could help me with that?”
The gray filly hopped up and down as she said, “Oh, I do! You could talk to my big sister, Rarity! She runs a boutique right here in Ponyville!”
“Really?” said Broly excitedly, “Could you take me there?”
“Of course!” the filly said, already beginning to lead the way. “I’m Sweetie Belle, by the way.”
“Pleasure to meet you,” said Broly, scooping up the yellow filly as he walked past her, causing her to Squeak! out in surprise. “And I assume you’re Apple Bloom?”
“Y-yeah, ah’m A-apple Bloom… “ the filly said hesitantly, startled by being picked up.
“Well, it’s nice to meet you three,” said Broly, “Would you happen to know who I would need to talk to about getting a house here?”
“Well, ah suppose you could talk with Mayor Mare ‘bout that,” said Apple Bloom.
“Hey! We should introduce him to Princess Twilight!” said Scootaloo, skipping happily along.
Princess? Broly thought to himself. Seems these folks have some form of royalty, it seems. He took a deep breath and said, “Well, guys, all I can say is ‘lead the way.’”
Today was going to be an interesting day. Broly was sure of it.
