Angel wakes up blinking he opened his eyes. to see a red eyed, blue haired mare standing over looking down at him. The first thing he felt was her. Hair tickling his nose he asked her. How long have I been here? She smiled and leaned back. Good your finally awake; as for how long have u been here I would say 3 days three days he said; how did the battle go did we win? she shook her head sadly no without you there to amplify her power the queen was overpowered she nearly lost her life trying to catch you she got cut by a sword. Not to deeply she quickly said seeing the expression on his face but enough that she went into a coma to protect herself and limit her blood loss. she will be ok in about a year...a whole year then we might as well just hand over the land to them now without the queen to back us. Its not a total loss yet her sister is coming to replace her....Dragon isn't she the younger of the 2 I heard that she wasn't as powerful as her sister.
and if even lady Rain wasn't strong enough to fight them. what chance does her younger sister have being weaker? I believe in Dragon said the nurse pony. Why asked; Angel do you know her? and who are you anyway? . No I don't know the younger princess personally but the queen has talked about her saying that she use to train with her before she ended up goin to war. And she said that she was at least half as good a fighter and technician as she was. Even managing to outsmart her once or twice. Well I suppose that's good at least I suppose said angel though I think the other soldiers might not be willing to give her a chance just because there use to serving the queen. And probably think that she doesn't have enough life experience to lead them. That's what you will be there for after all you were the reason that the queen was injured in the first place. So that her sister would have to come to replace her but ; Angel said I'm just a low ranking soldier none of the others would even listen to me.
And that's your problem said the mare. Mine is making sure that you are able and fully healed so that you will be ready when the armies clash again. Ugh why me though? isn't there someone more capable to help her gain the troops respect? and how do you know so much about the princess anyway as well as the queen? well said the mare she spent a lot of time here carrying the soldiers from the battlefield. And every once in a while she would stop and chat with the staff. as for why you will have to be the one showing her sister around. you may be a low ranking officer but you were part of the group trusted with keeping up a magical barrier with the queen....ya and look at how well that turned out ;said Angel, be that as it may you were entrusted with a job are you just going to quit and not help the queens younger sister? no I will help its just that. I wonder why you picked me also taking into account the fact that its not up to me whether or not the princess will even want to get to know me after all she's a princess and if your account is to be believed at least stronger then most average unicorns.
Oh she is but I can guarantee that she will at least want to get to know the soldiers who were charged with protecting the troops and, her sister. She said as she walked away great so she will end up blaming me for nearly getting her sister killed angel thought; not liking the idea that she will most likely hate him. Oh well as long as I am still alive he thought getting up immediately a rush of pain assaulted him as his feet nearly gave way. Once the pain died down angel, decided to take stock of his body before trying to move again. he slowly looked down trying to be as careful as possible he saw that there were bandages on his front and back legs. and that part of his wings were in a splint. Oh ya a new thought crossed angels mind; I'm totally capable of helping the princess in this state. After the pain stopped for a while he then looked around he saw he was in a hospital room with beds lined up on both sides next he looked at the tent it was gray and black with little streaks of what looked like blood leading up to some of the hospital beds.
a pony in a white lab coat walked up to him that must be the doctor angel, thought; the doctor walked up to him and angel? the doctor ; asked yes I'm angel what do you want? you have been released. You are to report to the main office as soon as you feel well enough to make the journey you may leave. the doctor said before walking away. Angel, took a second to let his body get used to standing again. Before he started walking to the exit of the tent he looked at a few of the beds before quickly looking away as he just now noticed that some of them were still alive and in even worse shape then he was some of them were missing body parts; like legs; arms and wings and some of the unicorn were missing there horn do we even stand a chance angel thought thinking back to the battlefield before quickly brushing the images of ponies in a circle the queen in the middle that's all he remembered he wondered what kind o shape the queen was in after all if he was in this bad of shape then the queen who was the main target of the spell would be in much worse shape probably in the closer to the condition as the ponies lying in the hospital beds. As he got to the flap he took a deep breath and took a step forward he pushed the flap aside.
What greeted his eyes was even worse then the scene that greeted him when he first woke up there were pony bodies every where as soldiers were carrying the wounded to the various hospitals scattered across the plain looking around he saw he was on a small plain overlooking some kind of field he saw a few trees and grass but the rest of it was barren wasteland. A thought crossed his mind do we even have anything to fight for anymore. Suddenly angry it wasn't just enough that they killed millions of our citizen's tried to invade our land but what land they do conquer the end up turning into a wasteland this has to stop. A renewed rush of determination went through angel as he looked around he spotted a building flanked with 2 guards and a flag of a raincloud with wings. That must be the new command center Angel thought; taking care to walk slowly now that he was on the uneven ground at the top of the hill.
